Tiger Mask to Wrestle Twice at NJPW Retirement Show in Korakuen Hall
NJPW has announced that Tiger Mask IV (Yoshihiro Yamazaki) will wrestle twice at his retirement show on July 7 at Korakuen Hall, with both bouts carrying five-minute time limits. The card includes a one-night-only renewal of Tiger Mask’s classic rivalry as Rocky Romero dons the Black Tiger mask to face Tiger Mask, and a separate short bout against “Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington, the nephew of the opponent Satoru Sayama faced when the Tiger Mask character debuted in 1981; the event will stream live on NJPW World.
Yamazaki — who became Tiger Mask IV in 1995 and retires as the longest-serving Tiger Mask — is a multi-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. Romero previously filled in as Black Tiger after Yamazaki missed a planned Jersey J-Cup meeting with Billington due to a personal emergency, and NJPW is leaning into that history as part of the farewell program.
