Tony Khan Details Logistics of AEW’s Forbidden Door, Praises Maya World
Tony Khan acknowledged the logistical hurdles of booking the fifth annual Forbidden Door, citing challenges like securing international work visas and coordinating talent usage with partner promotions including NJPW, CMLL and Stardom. The June 28 San Jose card features global names such as Zack Sabre Jr., Shota Umino, Mistico, Mascara Dorada, Starlight Kid, Shingo Takagi, Titan and Olympia, and Khan said he enjoys the collaborative process even when promoters have differing ideas.
Khan also praised Maya World after the alternate stepped in for the injured Sareee, defeating Skye Blue and Athena to reach the Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament final against Mercedes Mone. If Thekla retains against Starlight Kid at Forbidden Door, the tournament winner will earn an AEW Women’s World Championship shot at All In in Wembley Stadium.
