Visa Issues Create Major Headache for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Tony Khan said on Thursday’s Forbidden Door media call that visa problems have been “a massive challenge” for the AEW x NJPW event, and that the promotion is also dealing with injury-related complications. AEW confirmed clearance issues for Beast Mortos, Komander, Mark Davis, Gabe Kidd and Hechicero, forcing lineup adjustments as the show approaches.

Hechicero last appeared for AEW on the April 22 Collision taping in Portland, Mark Davis hasn’t wrestled for AEW since the June 3 Dynamite, and Gabe Kidd’s most recent AEW match was at Dynasty on April 12 in Vancouver (his last U.S. AEW match was the March 18 coffin match with Darby Allin). Kidd’s post-Dominion attack on IWGP Global Champion Shota Umino and PAC’s subsequent challenge, plus Hechicero’s recent angle with Konosuke Takeshita at Arena Mexico, are among the storylines that could be impacted if the visa issues aren’t resolved.
