Andrew’s JCW Lunacy Results & Match Ratings: Ep #93

JCW brings us some action with Big Al, J-Rod and Josh Bishop! Plus Kerry Morton gets a chance at revenge! Does he succeed or is there a Russo backup plan?

Published

on

Vince is taking another week off, and after the Choppatunity of last week went fairly well…he decided to let “Big Al” Alice Crowley run the show this week. We know that Kerry Morton had an idea for Alice last week, and Kerry being on his…face turn…sortuv, possibly? I don’t know, but I know I enjoy Kerry every time he’s on the screen.

So let’s see what Alice has in store and if it just becomes a giant set up to screw Dani Mo.

Ratings:

  • J-Rod vs Hollyhood Haley J vs Freya the Slaya: Haley wins via Bodyscissors Victory Roll – ** 1/2
  • JCW Tag Team Titles: Choppa City (c) vs The Brothers of Funstruction: Choppas retain via Luciano Interference – **
  • JCW Women’s Title: Dani Mo (c) vs Alice Crowley: Dani retains via Disqualification – **
  • Krule vs CoKane: CoKane wins via Cokeslam – ** 3/4
  • Guest Referee & Enforcer 2 Tuff Tony & Willie Mack: Kerry Morton vs Caleb Konley: Kerry wins via Kiss it Goodbye – *** 1/2

Results:

Alice comes out and talks about Choppa City having to face the Brothers of Funstruction, Haley J is gonna get punished facing J-Rod and Freya, Caleb will face Kerry Morton for a non-title match and Big Al gets a shot at Dani Mo. I like how Alice messes up the Jack Tunney rule and calls it John Tunney since she’s only like 23 and has no clue who those people are. Caleb complains and says he’s calling Vinny Ru, but it went to voice mail. Big Al says “Don’t you know, he turns his phone off after 7?” – Alice is amused at this situation, Caleb says his mom raised him right and he won’t put his hands on her…but Krule…has no morals. Al tells Krule to fuck off and Krule grabs her but the Duke of the Wicked walks out.

Violent J says if Kerry wins, then he’s number 1 contender and if Krule gets involved, it’s auto DQ and Kerry is still number 1 contender. Caleb chirps back, says J ain’t gonna do shit. Provokes J to throwing a fist, but Caleb ducks and J hits Krule. Before Krule can attack J, CoKane saves Violent J.

J-Rod vs Hollyhood Haley J vs Freya the Slaya

Haley is definitely the underdog, not just because she’s smaller but because Freya and J-Rod have been working together a bit in the last few weeks. So will this be a Handicap match, or eventually break down into a real triple threat. Freya and J-Rod both take turns distracted the referee early on. J-Rod and Freya go for a tandem move where J-Rod let’s Freya slam her, but Haley moves, she counters Freya’s power but Freya puts the brakes on and whips Haley into J-Rod’s boot. Freya is talking shit, but J-Rod is pissed. They ragdoll Haley, Double Chops, Double Headbutt, and then the Amazons pose. Tandem Stalling Suplex, they pin her together but the referee says no. So Freya and J-Rod start shoving each other. J-Rod cuts Haley in half in the corner, and Freya looks for a Cannonball, but crashes and burns cause Haley moves. J-Rod charges, but Low Bridge gives Haley a chance.

To the top, Haley flies, Crossbody, but Freya throws her off at 1. J-Rod pulls the hair from the outside, Freya goes for the Big Boot, but Haley moves and Freya clocks J-Rod. A strike flurry from Haley, but Freya grabs her, tries a Chokeslam, but Haley turns it into a Bodyscissors Victory Roll for the win! J-Rod attacks Freya after the match.

Orange Phantom starts reading a note from his less impressive Green and Purple brothers, tries to hit a saying that “Nothing rhymes with Orange” but people keep cutting him off, so he punches them with 1960s Batman Effects like “Woop Woop” and “Pow”. At least there’s some different aspect to the orange gimmick.

JCW Tag Team Titles: Choppa City (c) vs The Brothers of Funstruction

The Choppas are getting the crowd to play with their Chopping, but Yabo uses the squirting flower, Bruce ducks and it hits Atiba. A quick low drop into Dropkick, the silly Elbow Drops, into stale popcorn in the face. Bruce tries to Chop the clown shoe and it hurts Bruce. Ruffo watches him sell, they trade a few shots, Manhattan Drop, and Ruffo starts mocking the sell. So Bruce Chops Ruffo, and then tags in Atiba, so tandem Chops into Back Elbows and only a 1 count. Chop Socky Clubbering as Bruce tags back in, then a quick tag back. They want the Back Elbows again, but Ruffo Double Lariats! The crowd has been calling for Yabo, but Yabo gets caught by Bruce into a Spinebuster. Frog Splash and Elbow combo for a two count. They go back up but Yabo fights back and Ruffo pulls out a trunk of tricks, he has his rubber chicken! Ruffo starts shoving his cock in everyone’s throat! Arm Wringer with a Cock Tickle on Atiba. Bruce tries to level Yabo, but Bruce chops the post and Yabo has the crowd fully behind him. but Sally Boy is hiding in the crowd! He throws water in Yabo’s face, Vito runs in and hits the Implant DDT on Ruffo. Atiba crawls into the pin and they retain.

It was fun until the screw job. GoreGames can’t come fast enough, because Lucianos interfering in everything is getting old.

JCW Women’s Title: Dani Mo (c) vs Alice Crowley

Between Ultimate Slap and the HoKane beat down, Dani Mo has been rocked the last few weeks.

Dani comes out looking pretty good, but she’s checking the crowd as soon as she comes out. Alice and Dani, wrestle a bit, throws Alice out, Wrecking Ball Dropkick, but Dani seems apprehensive to follow, so she throws Al back in. A kick combination in the corner, Snapmare into a PK. Moonmist Twist…but Al fights it off and a Big Boot, a few Lariats and a Pump Kick leads into a Saito Suplex for only a two count. Alice wants the Lariat, but Dani blocks, Al blocks the Powerslap, but Dani hits a Michinoku Driver for two!

Barnabas’ carnival music plays, Barnabas and The Outbreak walk out to talk shit to Dani. He says, “You wanted all the attention, so be careful what you wish for.” HoKane attacks at Dani to cause the match to get thrown out. Barnabas still blames Dani for his wife’s death and wants Dani to die. The Outbreak looks to attack Alice, but Dani grabs the mic and talks The Outbreak down…and they listen. Barnabas is irate, but Dani saved Alice from getting beaten down by Jackson and Abel.  But Dani retains.

Cracks between Vito and Sally. GoreGames could end up being a face turn Sal, since Vito is really laying on the mafia movie thick. It’s a solid segment.

Krule vs CoKane

CoKane throws the first Uppercut but Krule doesn’t budge. Krule rocks CoKane but CoKane uses the ropes to help his boot. The slow strikes aren’t dropping either, until Krule turns CoKane inside out with a Lariat. Krule tries the Rainmaker, but CoKane ducks, hits a few Overhead Chops, Rope Jump Frankensteiner sends Krule to the outside, then a few back to back Dives gives CoKane the momentum. CoKane tires a Tornillo, but Krule catches him and throws him into the post. He then just smashes the back of CoKane’s head into the post a few times, and Krule is stalking him.

Krule slowly walks back in and lets CoKane strike him until he puts the brakes on. CoKane tries a Back Handspring but Krule catches him and just Freefall Drops him for fun. Krule goes to the top rope for literally no reason aside from to set up a dumb spot. CoKane cuts him off, Headbutts from CoKane into a Superplex. They both do the Undertaker situp, double Goozle but Krule is winning the power game…or not? CoKane turns it around and actually brings Krule to a knee, but Krule fires up, Krule accidentally levels the referee. White Thunder Bomb from CoKane, Swanton! But Krule no sells it into a Chokeslam Backbreaker, and there’s still no referee. CoKane tries to slam Krule but fails, Big Boot levels CoKane, but Josh Bishop and Joel Gertner come out.

Bishop levels Krule with a Boot and wakes up the referee. CoKane Cokes Up and Cokeslams Krule. CoKane wins!

You know, Krule gets portrayed as this monster, but he loses so damn often. It doesn’t matter if its MLW or JCW, Krule’s aura is pretty garbage to be honest. He just got Chokeslammed by someone the size of a Young Buck.

Blast from the Past: Steve Corino vs Shockwave the Robot, July 2012, Road to Bloodymania 6

Guest Referee & Enforcer 2 Tuff Tony & Willie Mack: Kerry Morton vs Caleb Konley

Caleb has to keep telling Tony it’s not for the title, but Tony wants to hold it up, so Tony just drops it.

Tie up goes Caleb’s way with Standing Switches, Hammerlocks, but Kerry counters it, Caleb scoots to the ropes and kicks the cameraman because of how quick the whole reversal happened. The crowd loves Kerry right now…and this is still weird for Kerry to be a fan favorite. Headlock, Shoulder Tackles and Caleb keeps getting run over by The Rizz God, but Caleb finally hits a Hip Toss only to eat Kerry’s feet, Lariat, Back Body Drop and Kerry wants more, but Caleb powders So Kerry hits a Plancha, celebrates with the fans and starts lighting up Caleb on the outside. Kerry bounces Caleb’s face off the apron and does some kind of karate scream that the fans enjoy so he does it again.

Back in the ring, Kerry catches Caleb’s foot, tries a Tornado DDT, but Caleb stops it and clocks Kerry. Superplex attempt, but Kerry blocks it, Headbutt, Mike Tyson ear bite and Kerry does a little Dance before a Crossbody, but Caleb rolls through and reverses the pinfall for a near fall. Caleb starts choking Kerry in the corner. Caleb stomps a mudhole, flips off Caleb, and Kerry is reeling. Kerry counters a Suplex and pulls off his own Blanchard Slingshot Suplex for a two count! Kerry follows to the corner, 10 Count Punches, with a little face humping and “climax” on the 10. Caleb Snake Eyes Kerry into an Atomic Drop and Flatliner combo but only a two count.

Hard Irish Whip sends Kerry inside out into a corner. Another Whip, and when Caleb tries to follow with a Hip Attack, Kerry moves, a few fists into a Dropkick and Kerry is feeling it. Ducks the line twice, Flying Forearm, Kerry wants to set up Kiss it Goodbye but misses and nearly hits Tony. Caleb tries the Spinning Backfist, but hits Tony instead. Kerry and Caleb wrestle to a corner, Kerry hits the Superplex, but everyone is down so Willie gets in trying to wake up Tony. Future Endeavors attacks Willie Mack. Mercer hits an X Plex on Willie, Kerry tries to fight them, but the Future Endeavors grab him. Kerry dodges on a tandem attempt, Kiss it Goodbye for Matt Cross! Then Kerry keeps the momentum going and hits Kiss it Goodbye on Caleb!  Tony rolls to consciousness to count the three…and Kerry Morton is the next up for the JCW Lunacy World Title!

Overall Score: 7.5/10

Now this was the best show they’ve put on in a minute. The wrestling was actually pretty decent, the stories keeping going were fun, Orange Phantom had a different way of being introduced so it’s not as stale and I had a good time. Father Bronson had a great promo, Dani getting through to Jackson and Abel is an interesting twist. Honestly the only thing I’m sick of is the Luciano Family, but like I said last week, it feels like GoreGames will be a big climax. Maybe Sal turns on Vito, then they have their own feud for leadership of the family. JCW has one of the better tag divisions in the second tier of wrestling promotions, so I’m just getting sick of each match having shenanigans. And even though I complained about Krule’s lack of aura, I don’t care about him. Ever since he’s cornball lying about getting stabbed, he’s a carny loser and deserves to look like a 7 foot dweeb.

So J-Rod, Alice, Dani Mo, Father Bronson and Kerry Morton all on the same episode, makes me happy. Plus that Kerry and Caleb match wasn’t bad at all. It was pretty good, the interference getting fought off was great and Kerry looks like a million bucks, especially with the crowd behind him. Between the last two episodes of TNA and the last few months JCW…Thursday really might be the best day for wrestling!
