Andrew’s TNA Impact! Results & Match Ratings: 7.9.2026

Two title shots tonight, a few more Knockouts Television Tournament matches, and more seeing where TNA is going exactly. While last week’s show wasn’t bad, I think everyone is holding their breath a little to wait for the next LOLTNA moment and see if creative gets worse or better.

Because trust me, things can always get worse…2015 is proof that the show could be worse. But Nic Nemeth needs some real competition, the company needs some real tag teams…so let’s see where the first chip falls.

Results:

TNA Tag Team Championship: The Broken Hardyz (c) vs The Great Hands

Hotch and Jeff start things off, Hotch grabs Jeff’s hair early on to do a mocking taunt of Jeff’s dance. But Nothing of real merit happens. Shoulder Tackle, and a Hip Toss, Jeff does his little dance, but it’s a slow start. Jeff sends Hotch into the corner, and we finally get a little speed increase with Tandem attacks and two quick tags. Jeff goes for the near fall, but after the kick out, Hotch smacks Jeff in the face and retreats to his corner to tag in Skyler.

Matt gets a quick tag, but Skyler turns things around, Chop Block, Spinning Toe Hold and Skyler finally gives the Hands some offense. Hotch tags back in, they isolate Matt and taunt Jeff just to get him to occupy the referee so they can get in some cheap shots. Matt manages to kick away Hotch, Skyler tags in but gets kicked away and then tags to Jeff. Jeff hits his classic offense with the Low Dropkick and the Split the Legs Leg Drop. Skyler tries to get involved, the Great hands get handled by Jeff, he goes for Whisper in the Wind…but misses! They hit The Favor! They cover Jeff but Matt barely makes the save! Twist from Jeff, Twist from Matt and Jeff goes up for the Swanton, connects and the Hardyz retain!

After the match Ali and Zero walk out, show disappointment and Ali makes a call again. 

The match was okay, nothing special, nothing embarrassing.

After the first commercial we come back in to the “King’s Speech”, you know, the Temu Highlight Reel. He invites Moose down first. Moose says he’s been here for a decade, he IS the face of the franchise, Kaz tries to skirt around it by saying he’s “in the conversation”, and then it turns into a bit of a pissing match. Moose has some real points since the last decade he’s been here, have been some of the darker years. Frankie tries to check him with the “Last TNA OG standing”…which ya know, sadly true. Moose gives him some credit, calling him a Pillar, but Moose says he also is one and Kaz doesn’t really refute it. Moose makes the statement that they’ve been in the company so long, but never had a singles match. The crowd seems to like the idea, but Kaz doesn’t want it. Kaz says he was talking to someone in the back, and out walks AJ Francis with Expressions. 

AJ says Tom Brady said that Moose left the NFL the year before AJ joined, because he was afraid of AJ. Moose isn’t backing down though. Expressions calls Moose a hotdog with eyebrows, and says they accept but on AJ’s time…next week. Kaz calls the match up the Irresistible Idiot versus the Immovable Mark. That’s pretty funny honestly. 

Knockouts KO TV Tournament: Vicki Venuto vs Indi Hartwell

It would be nice if we had an indi talent make a deep run, but I can’t see Indi getting knocked out early. 

Indi knocks down Vicki early but offers the hand to help her up and Vicki shows her vicious side, kicking and Uppercutting Indi. Indi does turn things back around after only a couple strike, Lariat, Bulldog, and she looks to gather Vicki when she rolls to the apron, but Vicki connects with a Headbutt to rock Indi. A few quick covers and Snap Suplexes from Vicki give her the driver’s seat. She goes around the world chopping Indi from corner to corner, but a Snapmare, Back Kick and another near fall. Indi tries to fight up, but gets Irish Whipped into the corner and Indi bounces out and another near fall.

Vicki continues with the Snapmare into a move, this time a Dropkick, near fall, and Front Chancery. Indi manages to break the hold, hit a Big Boot and then bounce off the ropes with a few Lariats, a Spinebuster and Indi finally gets a near fall of her own. Looks for Hurts Don’t It, but Vicki drives Indi into the corner, Indi charges, misses and eats a Cutter! Vicki looks for a Scorpion Deathlock or something, but Indi slips down and turns it into a Cradle, Vicki kicks out, but then Indi grabs the Hurts Don’t It and executes! Indi moves on!

The Righteous vs The System vs Leon Slater & Ricky Sosa

They had to throw together two singles wrestlers just to have a babyface tag team for this match because the Hardyz were preoccupied. This tag division needs Jesus…

Myers and Leon start, Myers get rocked instantly, he tags in Dutch just to get away, Ricky and Leon team up on Dutch, Superkick Party and then a Pop-Up Uppercut for Bear, Dives in stereo from the babyfaces, and we go to commercial. We come back and Dutch is smacking around Leon, but then Bear blind tags himself in, so Dutch and Bear go nose to nose arguing. Leon tries to take advantage of the delay but gets caught into a Chokebomb from Bear, forcing Ricky to make the save.

Bear tags in Myers, Myers grabs a Front Facelock and keeps Leon grounded. Myers wants the Roster Cut, but Leon counters with a leg Lariat. The match breaks down with Sosa fighting all the heels at some point, but there was a tag to Bear. Full Nelson Slam into a Lionsault from Sosa, but Vincent breaks it up and we get to the signature spam spot from everyone. Dutch hits Death Walks on Myers, but Sosa is the legal man, but as Dutch turns he’s nose to nose with Bear again. Meaty men slapping meat, Dutch rocks Bear, then Bear Low Bridges Dutch and jumps off the apron with a Shoulder Tackle to continue the brawl. Leon does his corner flip because of course he needs to always do that in any match. Sosa measures Bear for a Bang Bang Charging Uppercut and Sosa and Slater win!

Knockouts KO TV Tournament: Jody Threat vs Gabby Forza

Gabby is my pick to make a small splash as an independent talent, because I hate Jody. She sucks, she couldn’t draw with construction paper and markers.

They start with a hoss start, tie up, shoulder tackles where no one moves and both hype up. It takes a bit of a rope run dosido to finally take Gabby off her feet. Jody slams her into the corner, they start striking and going for brawling offense, Jody levels Forza with a Lariat into a Crossface, but Forza slams her into the corner a few times and then Shoulder Tackle into the ribs. Gabby hits her Okla-Gnoma Stampede into a Vader Bomb for two! Gabby tries to lift Jody, but Jody slips it, Cradle into dueling Lariat crashes. Three times they just bounce off each other, Drop Toe Hold from Jody hits her Knees into the German Suplex, sending Gabby powdering to the apron. Jody connects with a Wrecking Ball Dropkick to spill Gabby to the floor, followed by a Senton Atomico and Jody throws Gabby back in.

Jody goes to the top, rolls through but eats a big Lariat from Gabby into a Power Slam. Airplane Spin Torture Rack Bomb from Gabby, but only for two! Gabby goes up, wants another Vader Bomb but eats feet and a Crossbody, Jody hits Pop Shove It, and Jody unfortunately wins.

The match was fine, but Jody is worthless.

KC Navarro walks out to the ring and calls out Nic, telling him to be a man and tell him why he did what he did. Nic’s music hits and he answers the call. Nic says he tried to give him time, but “no one has enough time to make KC Navarro matter”. KC claps back with saying he obviously has it, and just beat Ryan, so if anyone doesn’t have “it” it’s Ryan. Ryan blindsides KC from behind, and they lay out KC. Nic says KC never deserved to even be in his shadow, lose his number and leave him alone. The Kaibas back at it again. 

TNA Knockouts World Championship NoDQ Match: Xia Brookside (c) vs Lei Ying Lee

Given the fact that Lei has been in the main event scene basically all year, I can’t see Xia losing this. I love Lei, but she needs a reset and I’ve been enjoying Xia’s heel turn. 

Xia is posing on the ropes during her entrance and Lei just Dropkicks Xia and sends her crashing. The bell eventually rings since it is a NoDQ match, Bicycle Kick from Lei into Xia’s chest, and another. Lei wants to use her fan, but Xia dodges and Lei smacks against the steps. But Lei stays on her and rolls her back into the ring and starts stomping on Xia. Bounces her off the ropes and lays her out with the Back Elbow. Lei keeps stomping the crap out of Xia. Xia tries to make a little space but Lei is sticking to her and beating the hell out of Xia. Xia finally powders, but when Xia looks for a respite, Lei hits a Low Rope Dive and wipes out Xia as we head tot he commercial.

Back from the commercial and guess what, the heel is in control because she found a leather belt and start torquing the injured knee and whipping Lei. Xia digs the buckle into Lei’s head, whips her against the ropes, tries a Charge but Lei moves. Spinning Heel Kick, Axe Kick into a Dropkick and Lei is trying to get feeling back in her leg. Lei tries her Downstrikes, but the leg gives out. She just punches Xia for good measure, slowly gets up the corner, and slow Downstrikes connect to 10. T-Bone Suplex from Lei and Xia powders as Lei continues to try and get her leg to work. Lei lifts the ring apron and throws in a chair, Singapore cane, another chair, a third chair…and then sees a bunch of goodies under the other side. But Lei goes for the table and the crowd pops, because of course they do. Granted this has given Xia enough time to make a Hot Pocket, retie her shoes and work on her taxes for next year.

For some reason Xia crawls towards Lei, so Lei bounces her face off the table, brings her to the apron, and looks for a Powerbomb or something, but Xia blocks and slips into the ropes to block. Xia grabs the cane and starts lighting up Lei. Xia chokes Lei and hangs her from the top rope with the cane, as Lei slumps forward and Xia soaks in the hatred. Xia grabs her title belt, and points to the table as the crowd chants, so Xia moves it away and then flips it over. Lei launches herself into Xia because Xia was screwing around too long. Lei grabs a chair, multiple chairshots. Lei tries a Swanton but misses and crashes on a chair, Xia hits Lei with the title belt and goes for the pinfall, but Lei kicks out. Xia blocks the punch with a chair and then hits Darkside DDT onto the chair.

Overall Score: 6/10

Well the two title matches went the way I think most of us expected, with the main event being the best match of the night as well. I still don’t understand why you would have Jody Threat move on in the tournament, ain’t no one wants to see her on TV. Gnomie the clown or whatever her gimmick is, is already more over than Jody will ever be. Xia winning is correct, especially since the Knockouts Division in general needs a bit of a reset between some of the talent that left and if they’re trying to spread an already thin pool across 3 title pictures.

Also seems like Ali is about ready to fire everyone except Agent Zero, which I don’t get, since Agent Zero is useless, dude has negative aura and the fact that he already lost multiple times has killed any “monster” appeal. But I will say that the Kaz, Moose and AJ promo was solid and Nic telling KC to lose his number and treat the situation like a messy breakup instead of the usual wrestler angle, is actually kind of intriguing.

While I’m not happy that Jody is moving on in the tournament, most of the tournament favorites I had penciled in are still alive. So, decent show, nothing mind blowing, nothing offensive…almost feels like they’re playing it a little safe post Dreamer. But at least there’s no big desperate swings.
