Kenny Omega will make the first defense of his second AEW World Championship reign against TNT Champion Kevin Knight at AEW Redemption.

Elsewhere, Shota Umino has been removed from the remainder of the G1 Climax after suffering a concussion, Harlem Lewis captured the WWE Evolve Men’s Championship, and AEW’s Triangle of Madness invaded a STARDOM press conference.

Kenny Omega Will Defend Against Kevin Knight at AEW Redemption

Omega’s championship celebration on Dynamite brought out Will Ospreay, who congratulated his longtime rival before looking ahead to their scheduled AEW World Championship match at All In.

Kevin Knight interrupted the exchange and reminded Omega that MJF had previously promised him a championship opportunity. Omega initially questioned why he should honor a promise made by the former champion but ultimately accepted Knight’s challenge for Redemption.

Knight now faces two major championship matches within five days. He will defend the TNT Championship against Darby Allin on next Wednesday’s Dynamite before challenging Omega at Redemption on July 26.

AEW also added three additional matches to Redemption. Kyle Fletcher will defend the International Championship against ROH World Champion Bandido, Mark Davis will defend the National Championship against Andrade El Idolo, and Chris Jericho will revive his Painmaker persona for another match against Tommaso Ciampa.

Shota Umino Withdraws From G1 Climax With Concussion

Shota Umino has been withdrawn from the remainder of the G1 Climax after being diagnosed with a concussion.

Umino suffered the injury during his tournament-opening loss to Zack Sabre Jr. on July 11 in Chicago. Medical officials made the decision to remove him after he displayed concussion symptoms following the match.

Umino had eight matches remaining in the B Block. Each of his scheduled opponents will receive a forfeit victory and two points, immediately affecting the tournament standings before the Japanese portion of the tour begins Saturday.

The 29-year-old entered his fourth G1 looking to regain momentum after losing the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship to Gabe Kidd shortly before the tournament. His health now takes priority over what had been positioned as a potential rebuilding run.

Harlem Lewis Wins WWE Evolve Men’s Championship

Harlem Lewis defeated Aaron Rourke on Wednesday’s WWE Evolve episode to become the third WWE Evolve Men’s Champion.

Rourke attempted the Molly-Go-Round from the ropes, but Lewis caught him and delivered a powerbomb. Lewis followed with the Jackhammer to secure the championship. The match was taped June 19 and aired Wednesday on Tubi.

The victory gives Lewis his first championship in WWE. He previously appeared on WWE LFG and has also worked NXT live events, dark matches and episodes of Main Event.

Rourke’s reign ended after 119 days and six successful defenses. He had won the championship from Jackson Drake before Drake transitioned into a regular role on NXT, raising the possibility that Rourke could now be moving toward the same promotion. WWE has not announced an NXT move for him.

Triangle of Madness Invades STARDOM Press Conference

Thekla, Julia Hart and Skye Blue appeared during STARDOM’s 5★STAR Grand Prix livestream and issued a challenge for the Artist of STARDOM Championship.

Triangle of Madness will face champions Ami Sourei, Hina and Lady C of God’s Eye during Saturday’s opening night of the tournament. The match will be Thekla’s first for STARDOM since leaving the promotion in April 2025.

Hart also announced that she will replace the injured Bea Priestley in the 5★STAR Grand Prix. She will compete in the Blue Stars A Block alongside Aya Sakura, Hina, Miyu Amasaki, Suzu Suzuki, HANAKO, Rian and Ruaka.

The tournament runs through August 23, placing Hart in Japan throughout much of AEW’s build toward All In at Wembley Stadium on August 30.

Ludwig Kaiser Seeks Dismissal of Battery Charge

Ludwig Kaiser’s attorneys have filed a motion seeking dismissal of the misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an April altercation at an Orlando apartment complex.

The motion cites Florida’s Stand Your Ground law and argues that Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel, used non-deadly force because he believed he and his girlfriend were being threatened.

The complainant previously told police that Kaiser attacked him after he criticized Kaiser and his girlfriend for their behavior inside an elevator. Kaiser’s filing presents a different account, alleging the man made an offensive comment about calling immigration authorities on Kaiser’s girlfriend before repeatedly approaching them aggressively.

Kaiser acknowledges pushing the man but claims he did so defensively. The filing also alleges that the man later threw a soft drink bottle at him. Surveillance footage from outside the elevator has been obtained in connection with the case, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for Thursday. The allegations remain unresolved, and the court will determine whether the charge proceeds.

Omega against Knight gives Redemption a champion-versus-champion main event while placing Knight at the center of AEW’s television and pay-per-view plans. Whether he remains aligned with Don Callis or begins moving back toward Mike Bailey could prove just as important as the match’s result.

Lewis’ victory continues WWE’s use of Evolve as a true developmental step rather than an isolated secondary show. Jackson Drake and Kendal Grey moved into larger NXT roles after finishing their championship runs, and Rourke may now be approaching his own opportunity to move up.

Umino’s withdrawal carries the most immediate real-world consequences. The G1’s schedule and standings can be adjusted, but his recovery cannot be rushed. Removing him from eight remaining matches is the right decision, regardless of how heavily New Japan had planned to feature him.
