The Grown Ass Man Podcast is back with Episode 2, and Greg DeMarco and Patrick O’Dowd are already settling into the kind of show this was meant to be: sports, life, nostalgia, nonsense, and the conversations grown men actually have when nobody is trying too hard to sound important.

This week, Greg and Patrick start with the FIFA World Cup and the rare way sports can bring people together, even when the rest of the world feels divided by politics, arguments, and whatever everyone is mad about online today. From there, things go exactly where they should on this show: into old music, vinyl records, cassette tapes, first albums, big stereos, 80s cartoon theme songs, and the weird little memories that stick with you forever.

The guys also get into the new College Football 27 video game, including the absurdly perfect “Fist Pump” achievement inspired by the infamous 2014 Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest game. There is a little wrestling talk as well, with Sheamus reportedly leaving WWE coming up during the episode, but this is not a wrestling show trying to sneak in another wrestling show. It is two longtime friends letting the conversation go where it goes.

And because this is the Grown Ass Man Podcast, there is plenty of real-life ridiculousness too. Patrick talks about trying to work out more, while Greg explains why he will never admit the hot towel at the barber is too hot, even if it is clearly burning his face, because apparently that is just part of being a man.

The episode title, “Sounds Phenomenal In An Elevator,” comes from a throwaway moment during the show when background music was playing under the conversation and Greg realized it probably belonged in the nicest elevator you have ever ridden in. That is the show in one line: casual, funny, a little random, and somehow exactly the kind of thing you end up remembering.

Episode 2 is for anyone who misses real conversations, remembers when music came with liner notes, still knows too many 80s cartoon theme songs, and understands that getting older is a lot funnier when you are not doing it alone.
