Tony Khan Interested in AEW-NJPW Tournament, But Logistics Could Block Plans
AEW President Tony Khan has expressed interest in staging a cross-promotional tournament featuring New Japan Pro-Wrestling talent, seeing creative potential in pitting stars from both rosters against one another. Such an event would excite fans and elevate storylines across promotions, reflecting Khan’s willingness to explore collaborative opportunities.
However, the practical hurdles — from scheduling and travel to contract permissions and promotional coordination — present significant obstacles that may be too difficult to overcome. Until those logistical challenges are resolved, a full-scale AEW-NJPW tournament remains an appealing idea rather than an imminent reality.
