Volador Jr. Becomes First Two-Time CMLL World Historic Middleweight Champion
Volador Jr. dethroned Flip Gordon at the July 3, 2026 CMLL Viernes Espectacular, capturing the CMLL World Historic Middleweight Championship after hitting a second-rope springboard Canadian Destroyer to end Gordon’s nearly 600-day reign. The win came after a hard-fought match that concluded one of the longest runs in the title’s recent history.
Introduced in 2010, the CMLL World Historic Middleweight Championship has seen nine different reigns, and Volador Jr. now stands as the first wrestler to hold the belt twice. Flip Gordon had held the title since November 15, 2024 and made four successful defenses during his lengthy run, including multiple previous matches against Volador Jr.
