Chairshot Wrestling News Report (7/24/2026): WWE on SiriusXM, Nic Nemeth Survives KC Navarro, Tay Melo Leaving AEW, More
Nic Nemeth survives KC Navarro, The Hardys win the Righteous Deletion, Tay Melo prepares to leave AEW and WWE SmackDown preview.
Nic Nemeth survives KC Navarro, The Hardys win the Righteous Deletion, Tay Melo prepares to leave AEW and WWE SmackDown preview.
Nic Nemeth survived a determined challenge from KC Navarro to retain the TNA World Championship, while The Hardys defeated The Righteous in another chaotic trip to the Hardy Compound.
Elsewhere, Tony Khan confirmed that Tay Melo requested her AEW release, WWE announced a dedicated SiriusXM channel, and Friday Night SmackDown will continue determining the participants in the Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match.
WWE Radio Launches on SiriusXM
WWE Radio will launch Monday on SiriusXM channel 156, replacing the current Pro Wrestling Nation 24/7 branding.
The channel will carry WWE podcasts, daily talk programming, live audio from premium live events and simulcasts of select weekly television programs. Existing shows such as Busted Open will remain part of the schedule.
WWE Radio’s first live event broadcast will be SummerSlam on August 1 and 2 from Minneapolis. Vic Joseph and Booker T will provide dedicated radio commentary rather than simply using the television broadcast’s audio.
Nic Nemeth Survives KC Navarro on TNA Impact
Navarro pushed Nemeth considerably closer to defeat than the champion anticipated. The challenger repeatedly escaped Nemeth’s offense and scored near-falls with a powerbomb, Famouser, 305 and Code Red before Nemeth countered another Blessing in Disguise attempt with Danger Zone to retain the championship.
The match gave Navarro something valuable despite the loss. He entered as an underestimated challenger and left having taken the TNA World Champion to his limit without relying on interference or controversy to make the match competitive.
The Hardys Win the Righteous Deletion
Matt and Jeff Hardy retained the TNA World Tag Team Championship against Vincent and Dutch in a Righteous Deletion Match filled with teleportation, hallucinations, fireworks and contributions from the Hardy family.
The closing sequence saw Matt and Jeff thrown into the lake before returning in altered forms. Jeff re-emerged as his “Antichrist of Professional Wrestling” persona and delivered a Swanton Bomb from the top of a bulldozer, driving both members of The Righteous through a table for the victory.
Jason Hotch also won the TNA roster vote to become the next challenger for Mustafa Ali’s International Championship. Hotch will receive his opportunity on next week’s Impact, despite Ali attempting to have the vote repeated after his own Order 4 teammate won.
TNA Impact Results — July 23, 2026
- AJ Francis and Frankie Kazarian defeated Moose and Elijah
- Elayna Black vs. Wendy Choo ended in a 10-minute time-limit draw; both wrestlers were eliminated from the Knockouts Television Championship Tournament
- The Hardys defeated The Righteous in a Righteous Deletion Match to retain the TNA World Tag Team Championship
- Jada Stone defeated Alisha Edwards to advance in the Knockouts Television Championship Tournament
- Nic Nemeth defeated KC Navarro to retain the TNA World Championship
The draw between Black and Choo gives Maggie Lee a bye in the next round of the tournament. Knockouts World Champion Xia Brookside attacked both women afterward, while Stone advanced despite the involvement of Eddie Edwards.
What to Watch on WWE SmackDown
Charlotte Flair will face Nia Jax in a qualifying match for the five-woman Ladder Match that will crown an Interim WWE Women’s Champion at SummerSlam.
Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill have already qualified. Cargill advanced by disqualification last week after Flair interfered in her match with Jax, creating the circumstances that led directly to Friday’s qualifier.
No other matches were officially announced as of Thursday night. Fatal Influence’s first appearance as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, another confrontation between Gunther and Nick Aldis, and continued tension between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are all logical possibilities, but none had been confirmed.
WWE SmackDown Lineup — July 24, 2026
- Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match Qualifier – Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax
SmackDown airs live from Oakland Arena at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network in the United States.
Tony Khan Will Grant Tay Melo’s Release
Melo requested her release following her June Collision match against Divine Dominion because she wants to step away from professional wrestling. Khan said he intends to grant the request and emphasized that Melo remains on good terms with AEW.
Khan also clarified the statuses of Melo’s husband, Sammy Guevara, and longtime partner Anna Jay. Guevara remains active with AEW and Ring of Honor, while Jay signed a contract extension but is currently sidelined by a knee injury and recently underwent an MRI.
Melo’s departure appears considerably different from a wrestler leaving to join another promotion. She returned to the ring following the birth of her daughter but has now decided that continuing her career is not the right choice for her.
AEW Adds Ladder Match to Redemption
Místico has not been medically cleared following an injury, forcing AEW to change plans surrounding the International Championship picture.
Jack Perry, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Komander and Beast Mortos will compete in a six-way Ladder Match at Redemption. The winner will receive a future opportunity against the winner of International Champion Kyle Fletcher’s defense against Bandido.
The final two participants will be determined during Saturday’s Collision. Nick Wayne faces AR Fox in one qualifier, while ROH World Television Champion Lio Rush meets El Clon in the other.
The Dogs and Bang Bang Gang will also meet in a Double Chain Tag Team Match at Redemption following the escalating conflict between Clark Connors, David Finlay, Jay White and Juice Robinson.
AEW Collision Lineup — July 25, 2026
- Thekla and Hikaru Shida vs. Willow Nightingale and Maya World
- Six-Way Ladder Match Qualifier – Nick Wayne vs. AR Fox
- Six-Way Ladder Match Qualifier – Lio Rush vs. El Clon
Collision airs Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and HBO Max, followed by the AEW Redemption countdown special.
Nemeth’s successful defense continued establishing him as a champion willing to exploit an opponent’s weakness but also demonstrated that Navarro belongs in more significant matches. The loss should be the beginning of Navarro’s climb rather than the conclusion of his brief main-event opportunity.
Melo’s release is another reminder that stepping away does not always mean jumping to the competition. AEW appears willing to respect her decision, while keeping the door open should her relationship with wrestling eventually change.
WWE Radio represents a meaningful expansion beyond television and streaming. Dedicated play-by-play gives WWE another way to distribute its largest events while reviving a presentation that has largely disappeared from modern wrestling.
