Andrew’s JCW Lunacy Results & Ratings: Ep# 95

EC3 joined JWO for GoreGames, James Storm returned, Mr. Anderson returned and Kerry Morton made one hell of a statement. Let’s also not forget that the whole story with Barnabas and Dani Mo. Barnabas’ kids seem to always hate him, Jasmin St. Claire debuted Donovan Dijak as her step daddy enforcer. The women’s division has two more matches to qualify for a Number 1 Contender Triple Threat.

I’ve said it before in different articles or on shows, but JCW is the best show on Thursdays. You don’t come for the wrestling, but the entertainment value is off the charts.

JCW World Heavyweight Championship: Josh Bishop (c) w/Joel Gertner vs Facade

After a decent Gertner style introduction, Bishop bum rushes Facade, but Facade uses the kicks, a Satellite counter, Ninja dodge on the Lariat, then Bishop gets Low Bridged. Facade hits a Wrecking Ball Dropkick, goes for a Dive, but Bishop grabs him, readjusts him and Law Darts him into the ring post. Bishop sends Facade back into the ring to just club on him. Bishop is being deliberate, so Facade fires, hits a few strikes, goes for the Lionsault, but Bishop grabs him again, Snake Eyes in the corner. Bishop goes for the pinfall, but Facade barely kicks out at two.

Bishop is a little frustrated but goes for a Nerve Hold to keep Facade down. Eventually Facade fights up, dazes Bishop with a few kicks, Disaster Kick into a Satellite DDT and Facade is looking to put Bishop away! Neon Ninja to the top, Rope Walk Ninja Kick, but only a two! Father Bronson is looming on the ramp. He has issues with both men.

Facade gets distracted first, nearly eats the Chokeslam but Facade fights out of it. Kick combo that ends with a Roundhouse and Bishop is crumpled in the corner. Facade looking Coast to Coast…but decides to just lunge after Bronson. Facade stopped caring about the match and starts beating on Bronson. Facade gets counted out.

Bishop decides to hit Facade with Exit 187 just because and then Bronson and Bishop stare down. 

Kerry Morton vs Mr Happy

Mr Happy comes out throwing Black and Yellow cigars since he’s a father to be. But Kerry Morton comes out in this new Tweener turning Babyface Kerry Morton. Oh Caleb Konley comes out as a surprise Guest Commentator. Caleb and Kerry have the two best theme songs. 

Mr Happy teases the Test of Strength and they start dancing. Happy kicks Kerry but then apologizes and hugs him, Kerry is doing a lot of character work here. Happy kicks Kerry again, but means it this time, hits the Big Boy Splash in the corner and Kerry powders, Stun Guns Happy, hops back in but gets his head taken off. While the crowd is chanting for Happy, it’s because Happy is more of a 6 something 600 pound Eugene-esque character. So they don’t really boo Kerry when he hits the comeback, but Happy Throws Kerry into a corner and turns him inside out.

Kerry is getting worked over in the corner, Happy proves he can count to 5 and understands the rules before a Hard Irish Whip sends Kerry Upside Down Bouncing Around. Happy fakes the Big Boy Splash and just pokes Kerry in the eye. Kerry manages to counter a Splash finally into a Springboard Crossbody for two, but Happy then squishes Kerry and looks for a Stalling Vertical Suplex. Happy Dance kicks in, Rope Run, but then Jasmin shows up on their tron to insult Happy. Happy stays distracted as Jasmin runs him down, Kerry with the School Boy since Happy is distracted and insulted. Kerry feels a little bad and hands Happy his Happy Bear. Happy hands Kerry a cigar and they make friends.

Caleb attacks both Happy and Kerry after the match with Russo’s bat. Caleb is trying to make sure Kerry is beat up going into Bloodymania. 

Barnabas is in the back with The Outbreak, making plans to finish off Dani Mo.

JCW Tag Team Championship: Choppa City (c) vs Twisted Snow (CoKane & James Storm)

There’s another Special Guest Commentator…and it’s Mr Anderson. Storm isn’t happy about it, but it makes sense.

Atiba and CoKane start off, he does his whole Chop hype thing, CoKane stays stoic, and goes into a pocket. Well CoKane knows about chopping his breakfast on a mirror, so he pulls out a baggie, puts the powder on his wrist but offers it to Atiba as a peace offering. Atiba is thinking about it, but Atiba Chops the offer away. So CoKane isn’t happy about that. CoKane starts the Uppercuts to the throat. Atiba counters the Whip, CoKane flips through it, rebounds, ducks the Line and levels Atiba before tagging in Storm. Arm Breaker combo from Coke Storm. Storm tags back out, a few tandem attacks and a near fall keep things rolling. Atiba manages a Jawbreaker to get space and tags in Bruce, but CoKane counters and hits a Chop to the Chest. CoKane walks the ropes, Kicks Atiba off the apron, Frankensteiner on Bruce, but CoKane showboats too long, gets a Chop to the foot and quick tags from Choppa City start working over CoKane.

Bruce has CoKane seated and throws down Clubbing Chops, into the WazzChop, but only for two. Another quick tag, Bruce hits the Avalanche Chop, tag, Atiba tries the Avalanche Chop, but CoKane stops it, wants a Double Coke Slam, but they Chop the arms and Locomotion Chop Attack. CoKane fights out, Low Bridge Bruce, tags in Storm, Atiba starts getting rocked, Manhattan Drop into the big right hand. Storm hits a Gamengiri, Bruce and Atiba try to Double Team Storm, but a blind tag, Last Call Superkick, Coke Slam, but Anderson grabs Storm and they fight up the ramp. Steven Flowe tries to hit CoKane, but CoKane turns it around, the bell rings and since Storm was the legal man, he gets counted out.

Choppa City has been fun because they are honestly awful champions. Every way they’ve won the titles or retained has been because of interference. So they always get their asses kicked, but end up keeping the belts. So it’s fun but has a short shelf life. Barnabas’ music plays and The Outbreak look to attack Choppa City. Good news for Choppa City, when The Outbreak get the shots at the titles, Dani Mo can still cause Outbreak to lose focus. 

Outbreak lays out Choppa City with As Above, So Below…and the crowd cheers for them. But speaking of her, Dani appears in her blue drug dealer hoodie and The Outbreak start walking towards Dani, and then leave with Dani. So this makes my point, if The Outbreak get a shot at the Tag Titles, Dani or Barnabas will cause some level of drama.

EC3 w/Jeeves vs Krule

Jeeves gets in the ring before EC3’s introduction and puts the referee between him and Krule. Jeeves does the EC3 introduction and Ethan walks out in his newly gifted JWO jersey. 

As soon as EC3 gets in the ring, Krule attacks him but Violent J…comes out as a Special Guest Commentator. Okay this commentator thing is getting old. It does manage to distract Krule for a minute so EC3 gets in a few shots, Lariat sends Krule out, and EC3 follows, so they brawl on the outside. Krule manages to turn things against EC3, smashes his face into the post, works him over on the apron, and then gets back in the ring. Krule keeps EC3 rocked, Big Boot, chokes him on the ropes. Krule with a Charging Splash, goes for a second, but Ethan side steps, and tries to chop down the tree, Krule eats a Stunner but stands up, Thesz Press from EC3 to knock Krule down. Big Vito walks out, tosses the referee and attacks EC3. Luciano Family start to gang up on EC3, JWO music plays and Willie Mack, Ruffo, Yabo and 2 Tuff Tony walk down for the save.

The main event turned into a No Contest toss out, but it’s just a 4 on 4 Brawl now since EC3 is still selling, but JWO seems to mostly have the advantage. After a few minutes, Jasmin St Claire’s music plays and…Dijak walks out. Dijak is the 5th member of the Luciano Family? Tony charges up the ramp, Dijak rocks him, then a big boot for Willie, Double Chokeslam on the Brothers of Funstruction, Discus Boot from Dijak lays out EC3. Jeeves attacks Dijak, but realizes that was stupid. Jasmin Slaps him, Dijak Superkick into Feast Your Eyes on Jeeves.

Vito extends the hand to Jasmin and Dijak is officially the fifth man. The very end of the show, Brett Lauderdale and Nick Gage walk out of Vince Russo’s office.

Overall Score: 7.25/10

This was a fun show with some decent wrestling honestly. Facade and Bishop was pretty solid, but the whole Special Guest Commentator turned into shenanigans got really old. Last week had a similar thing with 3 out of 4 matches ending in DQ. This week is 3 out of 4 matches ending because the “Guest Commentator” got involved. They need to stop booking the same gimmick in 75% of the matches. I feel like this gimmick was more egregious because it was telegraphed with announcing a Guest Commentator all the time. At least last week it was just annoyed rivalries coming down and costing each other.

Dijak as the fifth man of the Luciano Family is interesting because Lucianos have all the impressive big guys, and GoreGames is elimination style. So with 2 nearly seven foot mercenaries, it frames the babyface struggle well. The Orange Phantom promos are also, so amazingly stupid, “People claim to walk on water, but no one ever swims on land”…it’s so dumb, but as long as Orange Phantom doesn’t lose in stupid ways every time, this could be entertaining.

The show is still fun, the wrestling was decent, but they really need to stop with so many of the same finish. It becomes tedious.
