Andrew’s MLW Fusion Results & Ratings: 8.29.2026
Last week we got the appearance of Brick Savage, but he wasn’t announced as such. So MLW really needs to do a better job selling the names of the people that debut. Kananga was just a fat dude in a mask until they randomly started screaming a word without context, and Brick just did damage but the hype wasn’t there to push a new face. These events are 3 months old, there is no excuse on the bad verbalization of what is supposed to be perceived as a big deal. You can go into a studio and overdub commentary…you had 3 MONTHS.
Fusions’ biggest issues since returning have been poor editing (between commentary spoiling the Josh Bishop reveal as the Skyscraper early in the show because of how they sequenced the matches and Labron Kozone being in two matches back to back without actually playing that into the story). 3 Blind Mice Editing School needs to get lasik. Also the non-finish ends of shows and just overbooked garbage parties they like to throw as main events. These need to stop.
All that being said, the last two shows have been starting to reduce the shenanigans. So let’s hope they continue to trend in the correct direction of knowing how to sell a story, or if they fall back on the imbecilic overbooking of the previous 3 months.

LOL, the YouTube feed was set for 7pm Eastern, which is an hour late, then they reset it to 6:15 which is still 10 minutes delayed from when they advertise. MLW gonna start making TNA look less like a LOLCow at this rate.
Jazzy Yang w/Corinne Joy vs Shotzi Blackheart
Yes, that’s Jimmy Wang Yang’s daughter.
Jazzy won the Coin Toss last week to get Shotzi in a non-title match. Jazzy ducks an initial line and then goes for the stupid Scuba dance trend, as she plays to Corinne, I’m assuming to be filmed to go viral with the whole influencer thing. Shotzi doesn’t really allow too much BS, a few quick shots, Drop Toe Hold, Tiger Feint, and then Jazzy powders. Shotzi attacks her with the Running Senton, and Jazzy’s nose might be busted. Shotzi panders to Corinne’s phone which allows Jazzy to hit a Superkick. Throws Shotzi back in, Spin Kick, grounds Shotzi, tries to lock her up with a Gannosuke Clutch, but Shotzi gets out of it, then avoids Jazzy’s charge as Jazzy goes face first into the buckle.
Running Boot, Kick Combo and DDT from Shotzi. Jazzy is trying to get back up, eats a Chupacabra from Shotzi but kicks out. Shotzi wants something, but a Front Sweep into an extremely too delayed Shining Wizard when there isn’t enough damage done, so only a two count. Jazzy goes up, but Shotzi cuts her off, dumps her down, Cutter from Shotzi, Corinne tries to distract Shotzi during the Diving Senton but Shotzi steals the phone and hits the Senton for the win and talks smack to the live stream.
Bad match, corny gimmicks, lack of selling, and then the feel good huggy crap at the end is extra stupid. Jazzy’s offense looked okay when she was attacking, but her decisions to dance or play to the crowd were poorly timed and looked bad. Her MMA pedigree is obvious, she’s got a great look and solid offense, her psychology is just absolutely worthless.

Brick Savage w/Josef Samael vs Flip Sequoyah
Anyone named Flip is a jabroni, we all know this.
I’m gonna write this ahead of time. Brick murders the jobber because no one cares and Brick is being pushed as a new monster.
Yup I was right, the EMT tries to ask for space, but Samael throws a Fireball at the EMT. Referees come out to help the EMT and they put the Contra flag over Flip. I…don’t care. They’ve had at least one Squash match on every damn episode basically. Be it for Labron, Zamaya or now Brick…this is miserably cornball loser booking.
More of the goofy Danny McBride Don Gato commercials. These are always the best segments. The show has been painfully carny so far, but the sheer ridiculousness of these commercials are amazing.
Matt Riddle vs Bishop Dyer w/Donovan Dijak
Since we know Dyer is back with WWE as Baron Corbin, we can assume that he’ll lose to Riddle even without checking the results from May.
Dyer attacks as soon as the bell rings, Knee Lift, peppers in fists and whips Matt Riddle from pillar to post. Dyer starts to mouth off to the crowd, Riddle chops back a little but Dyer levels him and then chokes him against the ropes. They move to the outside, and Riddle is getting Chopped along the guardrail. He tries to make space, but Dyer stays on him. Riddle gets perched, Dyer looks for some punches but Riddle leans back into a Triangle and ruins Dyer’s arm a bit before the ref forces the break because it’s over the buckles. Riddle can’t find any offense after the fact, getting Lariated and stomped on, but Dyer mouths off again. Riddle goes for a power move like an imbecile, so Dyer just rains down Elbows and takes his time measuring Riddle.
Riddle tries to fight back but Dyer grabs him and hits a Brainbuster for two. Dyer just wants to argue with the referee and then posts Riddle for good measure. Riddle finally counters an Irish Whip, then they go into a strike exchange where Dyer is selling too hard for taking practically no offense for 4 minutes. Forearm Smash into the corner from Riddle, Round Kicks to the Chest, Back to Back Running Forearms. Riddle wants the T-Bone Suplex but Dyer blocks, Riddle pulls off the Twisting Brotan, and counters the End of Days into a Bro Cutter. For the win.
Dijack attacks after the match so Kross comes out and hits the Diamond Cutter as he does the DDP pose. Josh Bishop runs down and Chokeslams Kross. Bishop grins and has fun tearing up the ring, Kross grabs the microphone saying his next defense will be No Holds Barred against Bishop.
Overall Score: 3.5/10
Yikes…everything felt…flat and insignificant. The matches were slow, lame and lacked tension. More “big dudes to squash nerds” is really a tired format. Like I said in the coverage, there’s been at least 1 Squash match in nearly every episode…it’s lame as hell. And the Shotzi match barely counts as a real match since we all knew she’s “doing a favor to the new girls” and trying to give them a shot. This entire show lacked any semblance of tension, aura or interesting story telling. At least the main event had a real finish, but again, the show was only about 40 minutes long and felt like a waste of time.
I’m not really sure what else can be said. They have tried and tested talent, but whoever is chopping these shows up and gluing them back together, it’s bad. Also, “new” content shouldn’t be 3 months old. The teaser they keep showing for H.A.T.E. is from their shows June 11, 12, and 13th. Which means it’s before Rina won the 5 Star Grand Prix.
This show is a mess. They need to stop showing canned footage from 3 months ago. 3 weeks, sure I can accept 2 days of tapings to be a month of television. At the point when it’s going to be Halloween, they’re gonna be showing content from the Summer. The Carny Carousel needs to come to a stop.
