Andrew’s TNA Lockdown Results & Ratings: 8.23.2026

Lockdown is back for the first time in a decade! It’s not six sides of steel, but is it gonna be as awesome as we remember?

Published

on

Well the Lockdown theme song is done by Chris Bey, so that’s nice to see him in TNA in some fashion while he’s still recovering. As for the show…I never thought the return of Lockdown would be something I was indifferent to. I used to love Lockdown, this was the PPV I made sure to watch. I was one of the people clamoring for the return for the last decade and looking at this card…I…don’t care.

The show is gonna start with AJ versus Elijah…which is honestly one of the most lame built angles in wrestling over the last 30 years. So we get to start low and hopefully…only get better. Hopefully…maybe…dammit. At least the black cage looks kinda cool even though it’s not six sided.

Last Encore Match: AJ Francis vs Elijah

The crowd is singing the Elijah theme, so AJ tries an quick Knee when Elijah isn’t paying attention, catches him flush. Tries the Down Payment but Elijah counters with his own knee. After a flurry, Elijah does the same thing I hate where he goes to the dumb Rope Walk spot in the first 90 seconds when it is logically moronic. AJ lets him do it, then eats a Stunner, but no cover. Elijah goes for a Crossbody when AJ is back up, AJ catches him but Elijah slips the slam and tries to shove AJ into the cage. AJ puts the brakes on, and turns the tides on Elijah throwing him into the cage twice before taking him up in a Fireman’s Carry and then ramming him into the steel. AJ twists Elijah in the cage bars, but Elijah dodges when AJ charges and he retreats to climbing a corner. AJ follows, they brawl on the ropes, he wants an Avalanche Down Payment but Elijah fights back, AJ clings onto the cage for balance and Elijah Cartwheels into an Avalanche Sunset Bomb for two!

Elijah goes back up but AJ cuts him off again. More fists, AJ crashes down, Elijah hits the Elbow Drop and again, only a two count. Elijah takes a moment to ponder his next move, he climbs the cage, but Escape won’t win. AJ tries cut him off, Elijah wants a Walk with Elijah across the top of the cage, but AJ finally remembers he can pull his arm down, and Elijah crashes onto the cage. AJ finishes climbing up, they brawl on the cage, but after a Headbutt, Elijah starts to re-enter the cage. Which makes this whole moment stupid and illogical just setting up for a spot. Elijah smacks AJ, hooks him as he’s draped over the cage and Cage Top Superplex…but only for two. AJ just fell from 14 feet in the air and he kicks out…dumb. Expressions gets wheeled out in a wheelchair to distract Elijah but he dodges the TFL and AJ crashes into the cage. Elijah goes for the Rope Walk again but AJ counters and hits the Cash Out. Why do people remember they can counter that after exhaustion instead of in the first 90 seconds?

AJ tells the referee to open the door? But it’s not Escape rules…so…why? The Referee obliges but Elijah grabs AJ and pulls him back in, hits an F5 but only two. Elijah goes to close the door for literally no reason, Expressions closes the door on him and can walk just fine. AJ hits the TFL, but only two. AJ lines up the Down Payment, but Elijah grabs the cage to counter, hits the Drifter Destroyer after an illogical play to the crowd and Expressions breaks up the pinfall. Elijah grabs Expressions and Lawn Darts him into the cage, Knee Lift, then goes after AJ, perches AJ, and grabs Expressions before he can escape, and beats on Expressions more…because, AJ hits the Moonsault into a Down Payment.

This match made no sense and was complete garbage. Home Town Man comes out 5 business late, hands Elijah a guitar so…the babyface can keep his heat? Everything about this makes no sense, I think I’m having a stroke.

TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles: Allie & Kiera Hogan  (c) vs The Elegance Brand w/Personal Concierge & Mr Elegance

Okay good, I was right, the helper was Kiera Hogan. Hot Bunnies in this cage.

Maggie and Allie start, Allie throws some Forearms, then a Thesz Press into some Ground and Pound, Maggie shoves her off but Allie hits the Knee Strike and Maggie retreats to Heather. Heather lets Allie tag in to Kiera and Kiera hits a quick combo Superkick, Neckbreaker and tags in Allie for the tandem Whip, Locomotion Lariat and Sliding D, Kiera then goes for the Sliding Kick in the corner for a two. Mr Elegance climbs the cage to distract the referee but Maggie uses a nightstick from their entrance as Sexy Cops, to hit Allie and turn things around. Maggie and Heather isolate Allie a bit, a Dropkick to the back and a two counter.

Snap Suplex from Maggie for another two, as Maggie locks in the Sleeper. The crowd chants for Allie, she fights up but Maggie uses those long legs to take Allie’s head off with a Pump Kick. Kiera is trying to rally Allie but she’s still isolated. Heather with the tag, Snapmare and Headlock. Allie fights back up, Jackbreaker, Allie kicks Heather away and simultaneous tags. Kiera Forearms, Dropkicks and uses her…very effective Hip Attack (she’s got a huge wonderful butt…shut up) on both Elegantos. All four are in, signature spam spot as all four are down. The Concierge tries to grab the handcuffs, but the referee sees them. Heather is so tiny though, she climbs THROUGH the cage to get the handcuffs. Allie tries to grab Heather, but Allie gets bounce off the cage, Heather handcuffs Allie to the cage, Kiera is working over Maggie, while Heather looks for her chance back in, but Allie gets out of the cuffs and Kiera wins via Face the Music.

You can’t handcuff kinky girls and think they’re not gonna know how to get out. Silly Vanilla Elegance Brand. But not an awful match, kind of fun, nice to see Kiera back but the camera work not catching the finish and being more preoccupied with the overbooked silly stuff fumbled it from a production standpoint.

Escape the Cage Rules: Moose vs Frankie Kazarian

Frankie tries to escape immediately, and just keeps slipping Moose over and over, looking to run. Moose finally grabs Kaz, and bounces him off the cage three times. Moose has the chance to walk out but he wants to beat on Kaz more, starts a 10 Count Punches, Charges, but Kaz moves and gets a few moves in before Moose Kicks Kaz in the face and hits the Escalera Crossbody into Lights Out! Another Lights Out! Moose decides to walk out, but Kaz flips him off. So Moose decides to try again, but Kaz counters it and Back Drops Moose into the cage. Kaz must be annoyed now because he starts beating on Moose instead of running.

Moose fires up, charges, but Kaz side steps and leads him face first into the cage. Kaz works over Moose, the crowd is talking shit to Kaz and he yells back at them, Kaz hits Angel’s Wings! A nice Bad Influence reference. Kaz Paintbrushes Moose and says it’s “His Company”, but Moose No Sells, stands up, says “FUCK YOU” Headbutts him, Corner Lariats, Uranage, Senton and a Kip Up, the crowd is firmly behind Moose. Moose tries to climb, Kaz cuts him off, hits a Guillotine Leg Drop while Moose is caught in the ropes, Kaz wants Fade to the Black but Moose counters, Moose tries a Powerbomb but Kaz fights it off and they start throwing hands. Big Chops from Moose, Forearm from Kaz, Pump Kick from Moose and Kaz tries to catch Moose with a Lariat, but Moose stays up, another Lariat, Moose stays up, Kaz then hits the ropes, Loops behind Moose and hits the Spinning Neckbreaker. Kaz wants another Leg Drop but Moose is up, catches him, throws him into the cage, charges and this time Kaz connects with the Lariat flush to take Moose off his feet.

After a double down, they both start climbing the cage next to each other while only slapping and punching a little. Kaz tries to climb over, but Moose palms his head like a Basketball, drags him back in and Spanish Fly from Moose! Moose tries to walk out the door, but Kaz grabs the foot, pokes his eyes and Slingshot Cutter brings Moose back in and away from the door! Kaz is using the ropes to get up, he’s in front of the door, Moose might Spear Kaz out the Door…and he did…telegraphed, but the match was decent except for the finish.

TNA Knockouts World Championship: Xia Brookside (c) vs Elayna Black

Xia spends 40 seconds talking smack about Chicago, so Elayna is babyfaced at home, but she still won’t wrestle like a babyface…so I expect this match to suck, and TNA must agree since the match is on the middle of the show.

Xia talks too much and Elayna slaps the taste out of the mouth, thank God, Snapmare from Black, Low Dropkick, and Xia is rocked but Elayna lets her back up. Elayna keeps wristcontrol on the Whips to follow with Forearms, Xia tries to counter but Elayne hits a Headscissors. Xia retreats to the ropes, two Knee Lifts rock Xia, the third one Xia ducks and Elayna spills into the cage weird so Xia hits a Dropkick and then a Shotgun Kick as Xia takes her belt off. Xia wraps the belt around her first and uses the buckle to punch Elayna in the face and bust her open. Xia drives the point of the belt into Elayna’s face as she’s crying and saying no. The crowd chants “You Sick Fuck” and Xia licks the blood before punching Elayna repeatedly and then choking her with the belt.

Using the belt, Xia drives Elayna back to the mat, and Elayna looks lost. A near fall from Xia, and Xia continues to be meticulous before gouging her nails into the wound. Xia buckles Elayna to the cage, hits a Shotgun Kick, and Elayna is still bleeding. Elayna tries to fight off, but Xia levels her with a Lariat and then digs and twists at Elayna’s forehead. Elayna telegraphs the Axe Handle fight out, but Xia dodges Elayna going to for the Sliding Back Elbow, and now Xia starts kicking her like a wounded dog. Stomps Elayna in the corner, and Xia is doing very good heel work. Broken Wings, Russian Leg Sweep, but only two.

Xia looks disgusted with having Elayna’s blood on her, and Elayna fights back, fists, gets her up but Xia grabs the cage. Elayna cuts off Xia, Avalanche Side Suplex from Elayna. A few strikes, doubles over Xia, Mushroom Stomp. Xia retreats to the corner, eats a Knee Lift, Gutwrench Suplex, wants Black Out but Brookside counters and Darkside! 1-2-Elayna kicks out of Darkside? Xia…just started using that finish like 4 months ago. Xia bounces Elayna off the cage over and over, tries again but Elayna counters and hits Blackout! 1-2-Xia kicks out! Xia produces powder but Elayna dodges the first attempt, but falls victim to pocket sand attempt number two and a Roll-Up.

Xia put in some great heel work…but it just wasn’t a good match. Like I expected, Elayna is not a great worker, so trying to make her a babyface in this angle is non-sensical. Also kicking out of a fairly new finish is dumb.

TNA International Title: Jason Hotch (c) vs Mustafa Ali w/Order 4

Ali attacks before the bell but Hotch swings back, they start fast but Hotch Flips Ali in the corner and Ali’s feet get caught in the cage. Hotch Superkicks the crap out of Ali before he falls. Hotch takes a minute before coming back forward and eating a Superkick from Ali. Hotch staggers, Ali tries to go up for something but Hotch goes up and Suplexes him back down to Earth! Hotch throws Ali into the cage and hits a Tornado DDT! Only a two count. Hotch stalks Ali, wants to pick him up but Ali pulls him into the buckles! Ali starts slapping him around, curses at him, takes him up in the corner and wants a Superplex, but Hotch counters and Avalanche Piledriver into the buckles into a Sitout Powerbomb from Hotch for two! I…don’t know if the Piledriver was a botch or supposed to look nasty.

But Ali fires back, Mexican Arm Drag into DDT from Ali for a 1 count. Agent Zero unlocks the cage, but Tasha closes the door. Milla tries to get in Tasha’s face, Hotch goes for a Pump Kick, misses Ali and kicks the door into Tasha’s face! Hotch runs out to check on Tasha, tells Skyler to take Tasha back and Ali dives through the door to wipe out Hotch. Ali bounces Hotch off the post a few times, but Hotch hits a Back Body Drop sending Ali to the floor. Hotch puts Ali on the timekeeper’s table, Hotch looks up, climbs the cage but Ali cuts him off. Hotch gets the best of Ali, Ali falls back to the floor halfway up the wall. Hotch climbs to the top…the camera angle kinda sucks, but they give us replays as Hotch hits a Crossbody from the top of the cage into Ali and through the table.

The camera zooms in, and Hotch is crawling on the ground, looks like he’s coughing up blood and Ali stands up laughing. He decides to talk shit to Hotch’s wife and daughter, then steals the kids stuffed animal. Ali is taunting Hotch and throws the stuffed animal into the cage and then stomps on it. Milla Moore hands Ali a lighter, Ali is about to set the toy on fire, but Hotch dives in to stop Ali, but Ali gets the best of the battered Hotch. He hangs Hotch in the cage, takes the belt off of him and starts whipping him. Hotch’s wife…had to walk away a little with the daughter, Hotch falls from the cage and he’s getting beaten on. Ali perches Hotch, takes him up and goes even further beyond but Hotch shoves Ali off, Ali lands on his feet and Hotch hits the Double Stomp! Hotch crawls into the pin but only two!

Hotch grabs the stuffed animal, turns around and eats a Spear from Ali! Ali goes to the top, 450 Splash! 1-2- HOTCH KICKED OUT, still holding onto the stuffed toy. Ali tries to pry the toy from Hotch, but he won’t let go, Ali stomps him, goes back up, 450 again! Ali wins!

Hotch chose his family over his the title, and that was an interesting character building match.

Avery Styles comes out to one of AJ’s old themes (not get ready to fly), Avery says that he won’t become something until he goes through TNA, and Avery officially signed with TNA. Frankie Kazarian’s music hits immediately. Kaz tells Avery he can always trust him.

Last Man Standing X Division Championship Match: Cedric Alexander (c) vs Leon Slater

Things start quick, trading strikes, Leon goes for the 10 Count Punches, Cedric shoves off around 8, Leon charges but eats a Michinoku Driver. They fight up, continue trying to throw each other into the cage but they block, Cedric kicks Leon so his foot slips and gets caught in the cage, then when Cedric whips him, Leon hits the Spiderman Rebound Kick. Leon continues to counter and try to stay ahead of Cedric. Leon jumps to the cage, kicks Cedric back, then climbs up and flies backwards with a Back Elbow. Both are down for a little bit, Cedric trips up Leon and Lawn Darts him into the steel. Leon is busted open.

Cedric sees and smells blood so he rocks him with Forearms and Dropkicks him in the back of the neck. Leon gets up and Cedric Knees him back down to the ground. Cedric goes for Kawada Kicks, but misses the last one and Leon turns it into a Blue Thunder Bomb. Leon starts to climb, but Cedric cuts him off. They fight up the buckle and Cedric lands an Avalanche Michinoku Driver! Leon is back up by 8, Cedric looks for Lumbar Check but Leon turns it into a Destroyer! Then he rams Cedric into the cage three times as he fires. Leon has his second wind, and Cedric is bleeding so Leon goes after the wound. Rams Cedric’s face into the cage a few times, then lifts up Cedric, Utopia! Leon goes to the top, Swa-no! Cedric dodges, then Enzuigiri and fights up to the far corner, Cedric looks for a Spanish Fly but Leon fights him off, Avalanche Corkscrew Brainbuster! Both are down until 9, they use each other to stand, then start throwing hands.

Slaps into a Leg Lariat from Leon, then a Leg Lariat to the back of Cedric’s head, Leon lifts him into a Lumbar Check of his own, a second one! Hat Trick! Leon goes up, Swanton 450. Leon is looming over Cedric as the count gets closer to 10. 8…9….10! Leon wins.

Lethal Lockdown: The System (Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Bear Bronson & Brian Myers) vs Fabian Aichner, Jada Stone, KC Navarro & Ricky Sosa

WarGames rules, real match doesn’t start until everyone is in, but it will be gauntlet entries.

Fabian and Bear start, both are throwing bombs, No Selling Suplexes and just run into each other for a double down. Fabian rocks Bear, hits a Moonsault, but it’s all for naught since The System will have the man advantage. Brian Myers is next in. Myers and Bear dogpile Fabian and start to stomp on him and maul him. Tandem Vertical Suplex has Fabian sucking wind already. Myers chucks Fabian across the ring with a hard Whip. But KC Navarro is next out!

Fabian is down, so KC comes in fast, Headscissors deals with Myers, Bear tries to throw him but Spiderman rope stop, then he trips Bear into the cage and hits a Tornado DDT on Myers. KC tries to fire up Fabian, and the babyfaces are rolling! Eddie Edwards is next, but KC Dives on him before Eddie can enter. Very smart, as he then shoves Eddie into the cage. Bear and Myers start to take control back because Eddie at least gave them a short distraction. Bear is busted open, Eddie is already bleeding after KC’s attack and here’s Ricky Sosa! Sosa rolls, levels Eddie, Goomba Stomp on Eddie, Cutter on Bear and a Power Slam to Myers has him down. Sosa gets the crowd to play along with the “Bang, Bang, Sosa, Sosa” and here’s comes Lish.

Lish starts talking smack to Ricky and tries to Smack Sosa. Sosa blocks her, but The System mug him. They’re all working over the babyfaces. I can’t tell if KC is bleeding or just sweaty…but System is in full control. Jada Stone is final entrant, and Bear is trying to play defense telling Lish to close the door. Jada dodges Bear, climbs the cage and hits a Moonsault from the top of the cage into the pile! Bear is feeding in weapons, chairs, barbed wire board, and the roof lowers. Stop signs, more chairs, bats…the teams square off.

Four Way Hockey Fight, Rising Stars take the early advantage and grab Trash Cna, Chair, Barbed Wire Bat, and Jada grabs a Kendo Stick, Eddie wants the Stop Sign, but KC jumps off of Myers and hits Eddie with the Kendo Stick. Bodies flying, weapons flying, Dropkick from Aichner, Jada is going for more toys. But as Jada grabs a stick, Lish double Low Blows Ricky and KC, then she kicks Fabian in the dick until Jada goes crazy with the Singapore Cane and Superkicks Eddie! THUMBTACK BAG! Jada wants to drive Lish into the tacks, but Lish Elbows out, they fight up the corner, Jada looks Superplex…into the tacks but it looks like more went into Jada!

Fabian checks on Jada as Eddie checks on Lish and Fabian hits Eddie in the dick. Fabian is the trash man, then pins Eddie in the corner, Coast to Coast! Bear Bronson goes to down with a Barbed Wire Bat on Fabian and KC, Bear hits the Fire/Thunder Driver onto KC into Fabian’s chest! Bear wants a Powerslam into the Barbed Wire Board, but KC slips it, Superkick and HEADSHOT from Ricky! Bear is sent through the board. Myers hits a Roster Cut on KC, Blue Thunder Bang into the tacks from Ricky and Ricky points at a weapon on the roof. Ricky pulls down a spool of Barbed Wire, wraps it around his arm, BARBED WIRE HEADSHOT! Lish breaks up the pinfall!

Boston Knee Party to the back of Ricky’s head. They set up some chair art like they’re Kevin Steen, Package Piledriver into the chair art from Eddie onto Ricky Sosa! SYSTEM WINS!

This was a lot of fun, it was crazy, it had some nice highlight reel moments and honestly The System needed to win because the faction has looked like dorks lately.

TNA World Tag Team Title Match: The Hardy Boyz (c) vs The Nemeths

Tornado Rules.

Hardyz try to introduce a table immediately and the Nemeths attack them, but the Hardyz turn it around. Bouncing both Nemeths off the cage, Ryan eats early double team offense for a near fall. Then they look for Poetry on Nic, near fall again. The Hardyz have been all gas no brakes so far. They try to throw the Nemeths into the cage again, but both of them grab the cage and climb. There’s stereo pursuit spots. Nemeths bounce the Hardyz off the cage, FameASSer from Nic on Matt, but Jeff breaks it up. Ryan hits a Flatliner on Jeff into Danger Zone! But Jeff barely kicks out. Matt is getting raked against the cage but then Matt starts Biting Nic. There’s a “You Both Suck” chant going for the Nemeths, but the Nemeths are in control. Nic leans the table in a corner and attacks Matt, but Matt moves and Nic Splashes Ryan! Matt just punches Ryan in the head, starts a Delete Chant, Twist of…no, Ryan pushes Matt and Matt levels him with a Lariat! Twist of Hate from Jeff but Nic bounces off the ropes and throws a desperation Superkick for an everybody down moment.

The crowd is loud for the Hardyz, the Hardyz start working over the Nemeths, Ryan eats the Delete Headsmashes, Jeff twists Nic around, Paintbrush Poetry, Side Effect and Middle Rope Splash on Nic! Ryan barely breaks the pinfall but now Ryan is being treated like a pinball, Plot Twist! Nic breaks the pinfall! Hardyz set up the table correctly, the crowd chants they want tables so the announce team is like “It’s right there…how are the schools in Chicago?” Ryan hits a Low Blow on Matt but Jeff breaks the pinfall. Superkick from Nic staggers Jeff and a Leaping DDT from Ryan for two!  Nic is tuning up the band, Matt catches it, Side Effect! Ryan instantly attacks Matt but Matt turns it around and Lariat takes out Ryan! Twist of Fate from Matt, Ryan gets laid on the table and Jeff takes his shirt off. We know what that means! Jeff goes up, but decides to go to the top of the cage instead and Nic interrupts everything! Nic takes out Matt, pushes Ryan off the table. They fight on the ropes, Jeff bounces Nic’s face off the cage, Nic crotches and causes Jeff to get crotched!

Ryan tries a Roll-Up but no! Twist of Fate! Matt goes up now…Extreme…Elbow through the table! It takes Matt a while, Nic grabs Matt and Danger Zone! Mokuba and Seto win!?

Leon’s music hits…is he really cashing in Option C because his legacy is safe? Well that gives Nic a challenger at least. Yup, Leon hands the X Division Title to Carlos and officially exercises Option C.

Overall Score: 7.25/10

I like Leon cashing in Option C because the X Division is a little stagnant right now. I’m conflicted about the Nemeths winning, because while I like Ryan, it just makes the roster look small and pathetic with multiple belts on one guy. Especially when there’s only like 4 real tag teams on the roster, and now the titles have to split time with the World title. It could be okay, but…not my tempo. And honestly, aside from the AJ and Elijah match being psychologically bankrupt, the only real below average match was Xia and Elayna, but that wasn’t Xia’s fault. While I scored the Knockouts Tag match lower, that was mostly because the finish was marred with a cool concept, poor camera work and a lack of clarity on the point. I love Kiera and Aliie, I want all the best for Hot Bunnies, and I’m a big fan of Maggie Lee…I just detest the Elegance Brand.

Avery signing with TNA is fairly big news since he’s barely got his feet wet, the Kaz moment is laying groundwork which I like. System needed to win and that was fun. Also, I loved the story the match told with Hotch and Ali, where the title meant everything to Ali because he has nothing else, where Hotch has his priorities straight. Friendship, Family, Hotch is being positioned as the perfect white meat babyface you want to strap a world title on sooner rather than later.

Pretty good show, not amazing, and not as good as most previous Lockdown events, but I still thought it was fun.
