AEW used Wednesday’s Dynamite to make the road to Wembley considerably clearer.

Jon Moxley and Nigel McGuinness advanced in the Continental Challenge Cup, Kevin Knight escalated his issue with Darby Allin in spectacularly violent fashion, and the complicated relationship between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay moved another step toward All In.

Meanwhile, TNA enters Thursday night with only four days remaining before Lockdown.

Jon Moxley Eliminates Jay White

Jon Moxley defeated Jay White by submission Wednesday to advance in the Continental Challenge Cup, eliminating one of the tournament’s most dangerous possible winners before the semifinal round.

This always felt like a match that could have happened considerably later in the tournament. Instead, the random draw forced one major name out early. That immediately makes the tournament more interesting. Brackets become predictable when fans can spend three rounds fantasy-booking the obvious final. AEW’s format removes that comfort.

Moxley surviving White also fits the character perfectly. He does not need the easiest route to Wembley. He probably prefers the hardest one.

Nigel McGuinness Keeps the Wembley Dream Alive

Nigel McGuinness defeated Hechicero by referee stoppage with a guillotine choke, advancing to the next round of the Continental Challenge Cup despite concerns surrounding his ankle. Ringside medical personnel immediately checked on McGuinness after the match.

Every Nigel match in this tournament has another story sitting underneath it. Wembley.

He is not simply trying to win a tournament. He is trying to earn one more major match in the stadium that means the most to him. That gives otherwise straightforward tournament matches an emotional hook AEW does not need to manufacture. The only concern is whether his body allows the story to keep going.

Kevin Knight Leaves Darby Allin on a Stretcher

Kevin Knight ambushed Darby Allin after using pyro to blind him, then drove a Coast-to-Coast dropkick into a chair positioned against Allin while he was trapped in the Tree of Woe. Darby was placed in a neck brace, secured to a stretcher and taken toward an ambulance afterward.

There are wrestling angles designed to make somebody look like a heel. Then there are angles designed to make you want to see somebody get hurt back. This was the second kind.

Knight did not simply outsmart Darby. He attacked one of the most reckless wrestlers alive in a way that even Darby could not shrug off. That is how you make the eventual TNT Championship fight feel like something more than another title defense.

Maya World Survives the Four-Way

Maya World retained the AEW TBS Championship against Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander and Persephone, scoring the deciding fall on Statlander with a victory roll.

Multi-person championship matches usually exist to create chaos while protecting somebody. This one accomplished both. Maya leaves Baltimore still champion. Shida and Persephone remain viable. And Statlander now has the easiest argument that the result does not necessarily prove Maya is better than her.

That is useful if AEW wants the championship program to continue beyond one night.

Omega and Ospreay Still Cannot Completely Trust Each Other

Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay sat down with Renee Paquette to revisit their history before their upcoming All In match at Wembley Stadium, including Ospreay acknowledging the controversial circumstances surrounding one of his previous victories over Omega. Later, both men won separate trios matches before their tension again spilled into the closing stages of Dynamite.

This feud works best when AEW remembers that mutual respect does not erase resentment.

Omega can believe Ospreay is one of the best wrestlers alive while still thinking he has unfinished business with him. Ospreay can admire Omega while being completely exhausted by living underneath his shadow. That is a considerably stronger reason to wrestle than simply yelling about who is better.

Wembley gives them the biggest possible stage to finally answer it.

TNA Impact Goes Home to Lockdown

Thursday’s TNA Impact is the final television episode before Lockdown, with The Hardys, Elijah and Moose facing The Nemeths, Frankie Kazarian and AJ Francis in an eight-man tag main event. The show will also feature Harley Hudson vs. Alisha Edwards, Jada Stone vs. Heather by Elegance in the Knockouts Television Championship Tournament, Rich Swann vs. Mr. Elegance and Fabian Aichner vs. Brian Myers. Mustafa Ali is scheduled to open the show.

This is exactly what a go-home show should look like. The major Lockdown rivalries are interacting without simply giving away the pay-per-view matches four days early.

The eight-man main event is particularly useful because almost everyone involved has a reason to hurt somebody standing across the ring.

TNA does not need another massive angle Thursday. It needs viewers leaving the show believing Sunday matters.

TNA Expands Its Relationship With REVOLT

TNA Wrestling announced a new partnership with REVOLT that will bring exclusive Xplosion matches and classic TNA content to the platform, adding another distribution outlet for the company’s library and current programming.

This is not as exciting as somebody getting powerbombed through a cage. It may matter more to TNA’s long-term growth. Wrestling libraries have enormous value because fans constantly rediscover wrestlers, rivalries and eras. Putting more of that content in more places increases the chance somebody who is not already paying for TNA+ encounters the product.

For a company trying to expand its audience, distribution matters.

AEW Dynamite Results — August 19, 2026

Wednesday’s Dynamite advanced two Continental Challenge Cup wrestlers, kept the TBS Championship on Maya World and continued building multiple All In programs.

• AEW TBS Championship – Maya World (c) defeated Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander and Persephone
• Continental Challenge Cup Quarterfinal – Jon Moxley defeated Jay White
• Continental Challenge Cup Quarterfinal – Nigel McGuinness defeated Hechicero
• The Elite defeated Don Callis Family

AEW now has less than two weeks before Wembley. That means Wednesday’s developments cannot simply create more television. They need to create reasons to care about All In.

Moxley and Nigel moved closer to the tournament final. Knight made his fight with Darby personal. Omega and Ospreay added history instead of noise.

And on the other side of the wrestling landscape, TNA has reached the final television stop before Lockdown. For fans, this is the point where setup is supposed to turn into urgency.
