Steven Borden appears on Collision, Maya World gets Persephone at All In and AEW, NXT and AAA load up a massive Sunday.

Sunday has developed into one of the busiest wrestling days of the year. AEW brings All In back to Wembley Stadium, while WWE and AAA run Ola de Calor and NXT Heatwave as a connected Texas doubleheader.

Saturday’s Collision also added several final pieces to All In, including Steven Borden getting physically involved with Kevin Knight, Maya World gaining a TBS Championship defense and more names entering the Casino Gauntlet.

Steven Borden Gets Involved With Kevin Knight

Steven Borden, the son of Sting, appeared on Saturday’s Collision disguised in a hood and attacked TNT Champion Kevin Knight. Don Callis attempted to recruit Borden afterward, while Borden instead delivered a message that Darby Allin would be at All In before Knight struck him with the TNT Championship.

The segment naturally creates questions about whether Borden’s appearance was simply connected to Darby’s story or represents the beginning of something more permanent. AEW has already established a connection between Borden and Darby through Sting, so placing him inside the TNT Championship story did not feel entirely disconnected from what came before.

There is no need to rush the answer. If Borden is genuinely interested in wrestling, gradual appearances allow AEW to establish him as something beyond Sting’s son before asking audiences to treat him as a full-time performer.

Mike Bailey and Nick Wayne Join the Casino Gauntlet

“Speedball” Mike Bailey and Nick Wayne were officially added to the Casino Gauntlet at All In following their involvement in Collision’s six-man tag match. They join a growing field that already includes Chris Jericho, Tommaso Ciampa, Mark Davis and Komander.

The expanding field strengthens the match because the Casino Gauntlet format works best when several legitimate possibilities exist before the unannounced entrants even become part of the equation. Bailey adds another wrestler capable of immediately changing the pace of the match, while Wayne brings ongoing story connections that can matter regardless of whether he ultimately wins.

AEW does not need to reveal every participant beforehand. Establishing enough credible names creates anticipation without removing the uncertainty that makes the format different from a standard battle royal.

Maya World Gets Persephone at All In

TBS Champion Maya World challenged CMLL Women’s World Champion Persephone to a title match during Collision, and AEW subsequently made the match official for the All In Buy-In. Persephone pinned World on Dynamite after striking her with the TBS Championship during a trios match.

The match has a simple motivation that does not require additional television time. Persephone embarrassed the champion, used her own title against her and then pinned her, giving Maya an immediate reason to want the rematch before Wembley.

It also continues AEW’s relationship with CMLL in a way that gives the partnership competitive stakes. Persephone arrives holding her own championship rather than functioning merely as a visiting challenger, while Maya gets another international opponent on one of AEW’s biggest weekends.

Collision Puts the Final Pieces in Place

Saturday’s Collision also featured Mercedes Moné defeating Isla Dawn, Konosuke Takeshita defeating The Beast Mortos and a 12-man tag involving several of the teams headed into the Trios Roulette Royale. Willow Nightingale confronted Mercedes after the opening match with her injured hand visibly wrapped.

The show functioned less as a place for major storyline changes and more as the final bridge between Dynamite and Wembley. Most of AEW’s central stories were already established, so Collision’s job was to reinforce the motivations without introducing complications that needed another week of explanation.

Willow’s hand remains the most meaningful variable because it gives Mercedes an obvious physical target without changing the basic championship story. The injury can now become part of the match rather than something AEW has to work around.

NXT Heatwave Hits Texas This Afternoon

NXT Heatwave airs Sunday from Edinburg, Texas, with Tony D’Angelo defending the NXT Championship against Zilla Fatu, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana in a Fatal 4-Way. The card also includes five additional championship and grudge matches.

Zilla Fatu remains one of the most interesting pieces of the main event because WWE has placed him directly into an NXT Championship environment very early in his run. He does not need to win for the appearance to matter; simply looking comfortable alongside D’Angelo, Waller and Montana would reinforce why the company has moved him into the title picture so quickly.

Myles Borne working twice adds another useful wrinkle. Heatwave can either establish him as one of the defining performers of the current NXT roster or use the workload to create the circumstances that finally cost him one of his championships.

AAA Ola de Calor Opens the Doubleheader

AAA Ola de Calor takes place before Heatwave from the same Texas market, giving WWE and AAA a connected Sunday presentation. The advertised card includes Penta, Rey Fenix and Dragon Lee in trios action, a multi-man Latin American Championship match and several bouts designed to establish future title challengers.

That connected presentation may ultimately be more important than any individual cameo. If the two brands can make their events feel related without making AAA simply resemble another WWE developmental show, the partnership gains a much clearer identity.
