Sunday delivered enough major wrestling developments for several weeks of television.

Will Ospreay finally defeated Kenny Omega and left Wembley Stadium as AEW World Champion. Mercedes Moné captured the one AEW championship that had eluded her, while Kofi and Austin Creed made their AEW debuts and immediately won gold alongside Swerve Strickland.

Hours earlier, Grayson Waller completed a major NXT comeback by winning the NXT Championship at Heatwave, while AAA crowned La Parka its new Latin American Champion and turned Rey Mysterio’s dispute with Omos into a Triplemanía match.

Will Ospreay Finally Conquers Kenny Omega

Will Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega in the main event of All In at Wembley Stadium to win the AEW World Championship. Ospreay survived Omega’s One-Winged Angel before eventually finishing the champion with a final Hidden Blade to capture the title in London.

AEW spent years moving toward this moment without needing to explicitly promise it. Ospreay arrived carrying comparisons to Omega from their New Japan history, became one of AEW’s defining wrestlers and eventually reached Wembley with the opportunity to prove that the comparison no longer needed to define him.

The match reflected that history by making Omega increasingly desperate to prove Ospreay still could not surpass him. Kicking out of the One-Winged Angel gave Ospreay the definitive survival moment before the Hidden Blade finally ended the argument. AEW now leaves its biggest annual event with Ospreay positioned exactly where his trajectory suggested he eventually belonged: at the center of the promotion.

Kofi and Austin Creed Debut in AEW as The New Level

Kofi and Austin Creed made their AEW debuts during the Trios Roulette Royale as the surprise partners of Swerve Strickland. Competing under the team name The New Level, the former WWE tag-team stars helped eliminate the Death Riders to win the AEW World Trios Championship in their first AEW match.

AEW did not bring them in for a ceremonial debut or an extended introduction. Kofi and Creed appeared at Wembley, immediately became part of Swerve’s world and left their first match carrying championships.

The association with Swerve is the more interesting part of the presentation. The New Level does not need to recreate what worked for Kofi and Creed elsewhere, and pairing them with one of AEW’s most serious main-event personalities creates an immediate opportunity to establish something different. Winning the Trios Championship gives that new identity stakes from the beginning.

Mercedes Moné Finally Wins the AEW Women’s World Championship

Mercedes Moné defeated Willow Nightingale by referee stoppage to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship for the first time. Moné repeatedly targeted Nightingale’s legitimately broken hand before trapping her in the Statement Maker, with the referee stopping the match after Willow passed out.

Willow’s injury became part of the match rather than something the wrestlers attempted to hide, giving Mercedes a clear weakness to exploit and allowing Nightingale to lose without surrendering voluntarily. It also fit the increasingly ruthless version of Moné that AEW has built around her pursuit of the championship.

Mercedes has accumulated titles throughout her AEW run, but the Women’s World Championship was the one belt that determined whether she truly controlled the division. That question is gone now, and Willow eventually has a straightforward reason to believe their rivalry still has unfinished business.

Britt Baker Returns and Helps Persephone Win the TBS Championship

Britt Baker returned to AEW during the TBS Championship match and helped Persephone defeat Maya World for the title. Baker revealed herself after initially appearing disguised and subsequently aligned herself with the new champion.

Baker’s absence created enough uncertainty that her eventual return needed a direction stronger than simply walking onto the stage. Attaching her to a championship change immediately places her inside an active story while also giving Persephone a major AEW connection.

The pairing is unexpected, which is useful. Baker returning as an ally rather than immediately pursuing a championship herself allows AEW to establish what has changed during her absence before deciding whether the relationship with Persephone is permanent, opportunistic or simply the beginning of another betrayal.

Grayson Waller Wins the NXT Championship

Grayson Waller won the NXT Championship at Heatwave by defeating Tony D’Angelo, Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana in a Fatal 4-Way. Waller returned to the match after crashing through the announce table and ultimately capitalized after Montana hit D’Angelo with Spin the Block, stealing the pin on the outgoing champion.

Waller returning to NXT and eventually becoming champion works because he is no longer the same prospect who originally left the brand. He has years of main-roster television experience behind him and can now function as the established personality younger wrestlers are trying to overcome.

The finish also protects the rest of the field. Zilla looked dangerous enough to nearly win the championship, Montana had D’Angelo beaten before Waller intervened, and Tony never received the opportunity to recover. Waller leaves with the championship while three challengers can reasonably argue that the outcome did not settle much.

Zaria Unifies the Women’s North American and Speed Championships

Zaria defeated Wren Sinclair and Kali Armstrong at Heatwave to become the unified NXT Women’s North American and WWE Women’s Speed Champion. She finished Armstrong with an F-5 after Sinclair had been taken out at ringside.

Unification immediately gives Zaria’s championship more definition than carrying two belts independently would have. Rather than asking NXT to maintain two overlapping secondary women’s titles, WWE can now build one championship around a wrestler who has already been presented as physically dominant.

Heatwave also produced substantial movement throughout the rest of NXT’s championship picture, including Kelani Jordan winning the NXT Women’s Championship and The Vanity Project reclaiming the NXT Tag Team Championship. The show functioned as a roster reset rather than simply another title-defense event.

La Parka Wins the AAA Latin American Championship

La Parka defeated Damian Priest, El Fiscal and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. at AAA Ola de Calor to win the vacant Latin American Championship. Priest appeared to have the match won after hitting South of Heaven on El Fiscal, but La Parka broke up the pin and followed with the Bone Breaker to capture the title.

Priest’s AAA debut gave the match an obvious WWE attraction without requiring AAA to hand him one of its championships immediately. La Parka beating three opponents while capitalizing on Priest’s work keeps the title inside AAA and still gives Priest a legitimate reason to believe he came within seconds of winning it.

The championship also now has a fresh starting point after being vacated. La Parka leaves Texas with the belt and a ready-made group of opponents who can claim they were never directly beaten for it.

Rey Mysterio vs. Omos Is Set for Triplemanía

The AAA Mega Championship contract signing at Ola de Calor ended with Rey Mysterio agreeing to face Omos at Triplemanía 34. Omos had been suspended but entered the building with a purchased ticket, leading to a confrontation where Rey agreed that Omos would be reinstated if he wins their match; if Rey wins, Omos must leave AAA. Dominik Mysterio also signed his contract to defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano.

AAA has gradually turned Rey’s authority role into an active storyline rather than keeping him separated from the wrestling. Omos repeatedly challenging that authority now gives Rey a reason to return to the ring that is directly connected to what he has been doing on television.

Triplemanía also gains two related matches from the same segment. Dominik has his championship defense against El Grande Americano, while his involvement with Omos has dragged Rey into a fight of his own. That gives the larger Mysterio story multiple directions without forcing father and son into another direct match against each other.

Raw Preview — August 31, 2026

Monday Night Raw features Penta against his brother Rey Fenix in the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament Final, with the winner earning a match against Roman Reigns in Mexico City on September 14. Reigns will also return, while Raquel Rodriguez defends the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca. The episode was taped Friday in Cleveland, so spoilers are available online and are intentionally excluded here.

The taped nature of the episode makes avoiding spoilers unusually important. The result already exists, but the story being presented Monday is still built around two brothers reaching the same opportunity and only one being able to take it.

Ospreay and Mercedes now sit atop AEW’s two singles divisions, The New Level arrived with championships already around their waists, Britt Baker returned with an entirely new alliance and Darby Allin finally reclaimed championship gold.

NXT and AAA underwent substantial changes on the same afternoon, leaving Waller, Zaria and La Parka with new roles before Monday’s wrestling even begins. The weekend was not simply crowded with shows; enough championships and major stories changed direction that the next several weeks of television now have genuinely different starting points.
