Kevin Owens is here!
Ottawa fires up as The Prizefighter heads to the ring, but Kevin is not happy. For one, he’s NOT the new Undisputed Champion, and there’s a very big reason for that. Kevin grabs a mic while the fans cheer him on, but then they also sing “OLE~ OLE OLE OLE~!” Kevin says, “This is definitely not the way I was hoping to come back to Ottawa. Let’s be honest here. In the last 12 years, I have lost many WWE Championship matches. But none of them felt as bad to lose as the one on Friday in Toronto. Because Friday, everything was perfect. Everything. See, I spent 17 months not knowing if I’d get to get back in this ring.
“And then, when I finally heard that I could, when I finally heard that I was cleared to get back in the ring, to see if I could get medically cleared to compete again, I got in the ring as soon as I could. I was told it’s gonna take about four weeks. I did it in nine days so I could be at SummerSlam. Because I wanted to be in that #1 contender’s match, I wanted to win that #1 contender’s match, and I wanted to go to Toronto to win the WWE Championship. Not just because I wanted to do it in Toronto in front of other Canadians. But the real reason I picked Toronto is because I knew that my parents would be able to be at that show.
“Because two years ago, a lot of you will probably remember that I stood in the ring, in Toronto, and told everyone that my mom had been rushed to the hospital and she was fighting for her life. And um, thankfully she kicked out, she made it out, she’s still here. But since then, traveling has been a lot more difficult for her. Going to shows has been nearly impossible. But on Friday, she did something that for her was a huge deal. Her and my dad drove from Montreal to Toronto, and she came to that show, and all I wanted was to win that title in front of her.” The fans applaud that, but Kevin says SAMI ZAYN made sure Kevin couldn’t do that.
The fans boo Sami, but Kevin says they’ve done a lot of real messed up things to each other. Kevin’s not innocent, he put Sami through a lot. But this time… Kevin cannot forget, he cannot forgive. It wasn’t just about winning the title. Kevin will never get an opportunity like that again, where all the stars aligned: Toronto, in front of his family and friends, for the title, and getting to beat CM Punk! Now, Sami, Kevin will deal with you when the time comes, but Punk… On that night, everyone knows, Kevin knows, Punk knows, that Kevin was better than the Best in the World! The fans cheer that!
But Punk got lucky and capitalized on Sami’s actions. Just know this, Punk: If you think they’re done, you’re dead wrong! They’re just getting started! Kevin will not stop until he takes that title from Punk. But then Punk barges out on stage, and he says no one asked Punk’s opinion on whether or not they were done! The fans are torn as Punk storms right down the ramp and tells Kevin that he doesn’t need Sami’s help, and he had Kevin beat! Nick Aldis rushes out here, too, Punk says if Kevin wants to do it again tonight, Punk will send him packing outta Ottawa like his last name was Tkachuk! How ’bout that?!
But then GUNTHER joins the chat! The fans are torn as Der Ring General storms out here, mic in hand, and he says, “Well enough already! If I keep listening to that, my ears are gonna start to bleed! But I think I’ve figured out it, what it is with you two. Why you two hate each other so much. Because when you look at each other, what you see is your arrogant, obnoxious, opiniated self! So while you’re out here arguing about stuff that happened 20 years ago, I’m here to remind you what matters now! Hey, Kevin. You listen to me now, okay? Look! Hey, Kevin! I’m glad your mom kicked out. But too bad on Friday you didn’t.”
The fans boo but Kevin doesn’t even care. Gunther starts talking to Punk, but FINN BALOR joins the chat! The fans cheer The Prince as he makes his way out here, mic also in hand. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, fellas! I think you’re all forgettin’ about someone.” Gunther says, “Ladies and gentlemen, look at that! The Ghost of Finn Balor came out!” Finn tells Gunther, “Shut yer mouth, you whiny little pr*ck!” The fans cheer that! Finn is pretty sure he speaks for everyone when he says we’re all getting tired of Gunther’s act. As for Kevin, Finn loves you, but you had your opportunity. And neither of them have beaten Finn…
So if there’s a line for the title, it starts here, with FINN BALOR! The fans cheer that! Aldis says y’know what? There’s nothing more to discuss, and here’s why. Finn, Kevin, Gunther, you can all face each other in a Triple Threat for the #1 contendership, here tonight in Ottowa! The fans love the sound of that! Will Kevin get his second chance? Will Gunther get his way again? Or will The Prince have one more shot at the throne?
Tiffany Stratton finds Chelsea Green backstage.
Tiffy checks in on Chelse and Chelse shows off her cute new face mask. Yeah, it is cute, but is Chelsea sure she wants to do this? Yes, she spoke to medical. She’s going out there. But Chelsea’s got less than 30 days to get healthy and defend the title, Tiff doesn’t wanna jeopardize that. Chelsea understands, but after everything they’ve been through with Nia & Lash, Chelsea will be out there with her. Chelsea wants Tiff to go on ahead while Chelsea finishes preparing. Tiff accepts that, but will the WWE Women’s Champion be ready for this match? Or will the Irresistible Forces be unstoppable?
Chelsea Green & Tiffany Stratton VS The Irresistible Forces!
SmackDown returns as Tiff makes her entrance, followed by Chelsea, mask now equipped. The teams sort out and Lash starts against Tiff. Lash avoids Tiff’s dropkick, then waistlocks to THRASH her around! Tiff fights to slip under, then SHOTGUNS Lash onto ropes! Tiff runs to HIP ATTACK, then keeps moving, only for Lash to scoop! SWINGING BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Lash stays between Tiff and Chelsea, then takes a swing! Chelsea avoids the shot, so Lash goes back to Tiff. Lash guzels, but Tiff slips free of the choke slam! Chelsea tags in as Tiff ducks ‘n’ dodges! Tiff handsprings and STUNNERS, then Chelsea ZIGZAGS!
The fans fire up for the BFFs, but here comes Nia! Tiff & Chelsea dodge, DOUBLE DROPKICK, and Chelsea runs to DOUBLE KNEE! The fans fire up and pledge their allegiance, but Nia guzels Chelsea! Nia whips, Chelsea leaps, but into Nia’s arms! Fireman’s carry, but Chelsea slips free to ENZIGIRI! Then the chicken wings, but Nia fights off the Unprettier to HEADBUTT Chelsea! Chelsea clutches her face, the ref hurries to check her, and the fans boo. Tiff tags in and glares at Nia while SmackDown goes to break.
SmackDown returns and Lash catches Tiff hesitating to tag Chelsea! Lash then SPINEBUSTERS Tiff for it! High stack, Chelsea breaks it! Nia runs up to KNEE SMASH Chelsea! Chelsea scrambles out, clutching her face again! The fans boo but Nia just smiles as she mocks the salute. WWE Medical hurries over to check Chelsea’s eye, but Lash drags Tiff up. Lash clamps on a BEARHUG! She THRASHES Tiff around, but Tiff still endures! The fans rally but Lash squeezes tighter! Tiff fires elbows, fights with forearms, and she windmills shots! But Lash shoves Tiff to DECK her! Cover, TWO! Tiff survives and the fans cheer!
Lash drags Tiff over, tags Nia, and Nia HEADBUTTS Tiff! Nia whips Tiff to a corner, SPLASHES, then whips her to the other corner. Nia runs up, but Tiff dodges! GAMANGIRI! Tiff windmills more shots, then runs, but into a LARIAT! Chelsea blinks, she’s able to see, but can she continue? Nia covers Tiff, TWO! Nia mockingly asks where Chelsea went, then bumps Tiff off buckles. Tag to Lash, feed to the BEARHUG! Tiff endures again but Nia tags back in. Nia goes up while Lash holds Tiff out, SUPER GUILLOTINE LEG- NO, Tiff sits up in time! Tiff fires shots on Lash, then kicks off Nia to hit SLICED BREAD!
The fans fire up for Tiff, but the medical team is ushering Chelsea up the ramp! They tell Chelsea she can’t risk further injury, but Chelsea sees Tiff is crawling for the corner. Chelsaea pushes free and goes to the corner, hot tag to the Hot Mess! She goes up, up, and MISSILE DROPKICKS Nia! Then a SLIDING HOTSHOT for Lash! Nia runs up, Chelsea puts her outside to DROPKICK her down! The fans fire up for Chelsea as she goes up, up, and SUPER CROSSBODIES! Down goes Nia and the fans fire up again! Chelsea hurries to get Nia back in the ring, then she hurries to get the chicken wings! UNPRETT- NO, Nia pushes free!
Lash is waiting, but Chelsea SLAPS her first! Then she BACKHANDS Nia! Tiff hurries to FLYING- NO, Lash stops the rana to THROW Tiff into barriers! And Nia JABS Chelsea right in the face! SAMOAN DROP! Nia drags Chelsea to a corner, goes up, A-NIA-LATOR! Cover, Irresistible Forces win!
Winners: The Irresistible Forces, by pinfall
Nia & Lash shout at the ref to raise their hands in victory, and the ref obliges. But with this, is Nia taking the title off Chelsea inevitable? Or can the underdog champion prove she’s the unstoppable one?
Nick Aldis is on the phone.
He assures whoever it is that he’s on top of the situation, but then in steps Danhausen. Aldis excuses himself from the call, and asks what he can do for Danhausen. Danhausen says it’s great to have “Suit Guy” back as GM, and says maybe Danhausen could be Employee of the Month. Sounds very nice, very evil, and has lots of human money involved. Very lucrative for them both. Gunther steps in, saying he and Aldis need to talk. Danhausen says oh my gawd, it’s “Ghouler!” Danhausen has been waiting forever to meet him! Very impressive, very evil! Danhausen offers a handshake, but Gunther doesn’t take it.
Gunther tells Aldis that they regarding the main event, just to clarify things since Aldis has gotten a taste of changing things rather last minute… It’s still only a Triple Threat? Yes, a Triple Threat. Great… But Gunther still does not appreciate the fact Aldis makes him jump through hoops to prove himself. Especially against the likes of Kevin Owens and the ghost of Finn Balor. Aldis says he appreciates the concern, but yes, there will be no shenanigans. It is a Triple Threat, may the best man win. Gunther says, “Tremendous.” Danhausen adds, “Yeah…!” Gunther leaves, and Danhausen asks if Gunther said something about a ghost.
Aldis explains it’s just an expression. Danhausen asks if Aldis can add Danhausen to the match. No. Oh, okay. Danhausen leaves, but will he get up to some shenanigans now that he’s back on SmackDown?
WWE Women’s United States Championship: Jacy Jayne w/ Fatal Influence VS Paige!
Speaking of shenanigans, it’s because of shenanigans like the numbers that Fatal Influence has any gold to speak of. But they still have the gold, and that’s the problem. Can Paige at least take this title off the Toxic Rockstar? Or will SmackDown still be under the Influence?
SmackDown returns as The Influence makes their entrance, Paige already waiting in the ring. The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who’s really championship material!
The bell rings and the fans rally as the two circle. Jacy wants a timeout? She huddles up with Fallon & Lainey while the fans boo. Jacy tells them to shut up! Jacy returns to the ring, dodges Paige, and THROWS her by her hair! Then SENTONS! “And that’s why I’m the champ!” The fans boo but Jacy runs, SENTON FLOP! Paige SUPERKICKS Jacy down, “This is MY house!” The fans fire up as Paige HEADBUTTS Jacy, puts her through ropes, and then fires KNEE after KNEE! The fans cheer but the ref counts, so Paige shoves Jacy down at 4. Jacy staggers around, calling for a timeout, but she gets a CANNONBALL instead!
The fans cheer and Paige smiles as she brings Jacy back into the ring. But then Lainey runs up! Jacy distracts the ref while Lainey BOOTS Paige! There’s the numbers game already! The fans boo but Jacy says work smarter, not harder, as SmackDown goes to break.
SmackDown returns again as Jacy has Paige in a BULLY CHOKE! Paige endures and the fans rally up, but Fallon & Lainey tell them to shut up. Paige fights up to a JAWBREAKER! Paige then runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, but DOUBLE LARIATS take them both down! The fans rally while Jacy and Paige roll to ropes. Jacy rises up, runs up on Paige, and ROCKS her! Paige ROCKS Jacy, Jacy ROCKS Paige, repeat! Jacy mule kicks, ROCKS Paige again, but Paige hits back! The shots keep going, Jacy mule kicks again, then front kicks, and ENZIGIRIS! The fans boo but the Influence cheers as Jacy rises again. Jacy runs, but into a LARIAT!
The fans fire up as Paige then slips around, spins Jacy, and hooks a leg! FISHERMAN BUSTER! Then a GERMAN SUPLEX! The fans fire up with Paige again, PAGE TURNER!! Cover, TWO!! Jacy survives and Paige is frustrated, but the fans rally up. Paige nods and she brings Jacy up. Jacy SUPERKICKS! Paige falls, Jacy wobbles, but the Influence cheers. Jacy whips, but Paige reverses to trip Jacy up! Paige wants the legs but Jacy boots free! Jacy runs up, Paige dodges the knee, roll-up! TWO, and Paige hurries to HEADBUTT! Jacy wobbles again, Paige reels her in, and the hook! But Lainey distracts!
Paige sends Jacy into Lainey, then LARIATS Jacy down! Fallon gets up, Paige BOOTS her down! But Jacy cradles Paige, AND WINS!!
Winner: Jacy Jayne, by pinfall (still WWE Women’s United States Champion)
Well, we all should’ve known better, but Fatal Influence gets away with it again! They quite literally run away with the belt tonight, will anyone ever figure the numbers game out? As for Paige, NIKKI BELLA ATTACKS! Nikki’s back to beat down on Paige, but Paige shoves her away. Nikki SPEARS Paige down, then steps on her! Nikki stomps away, then soaks up the heat. Nikki then drags Paige up, fireman’s carries, and she mocks the Cena fans before hitting the RACK ATTACK! #FearlessNikki needing a sneak attack is a bit ironic, but will she give Paige a chance to fight face to face?
Cody Rhodes sits backstage.
Finn Balor walks by and asks The American Nightmare if he’s okay. They shake hands, and Cody wishes he was okay. This situation with Orton and Aldis, the stipulation that they can’t get physical if they wanna challenge for the world title again. Not sure what to say or do, but what does Finn think? Finn thinks that Cody should keep his cool. Randy is just trying to goad Cody down the dark path. Finn’s been down that path. So just don’t do anything you can’t come back from. Plus, Finn’s gonna become #1 contender tonight, so by the time Cody’s done with Randy, there’s gonna be a new champ around here.
So Cody can handle his business, Finn will handle his, and they’ll see each other on the other side. They shake hands on that, and Finn heads out. But will Cody be able to keep his cool with Orton tonight? Or will the combustible elements explode?
Trick Williams is backstage.
Trick finds Lil’ Yachty, and says they gotta talk about last week. Trick appreciates Yachty stepping up for him, and he’ll always step up for Yachty, but to keep it 100… This is a big deal. Is Yachty ready for Baron Corbin? Listen to Trick. For everything Corbin is missing in hair, he makes up for with ferocity, meanness, atrociousness, he ugly, he’s a monster! Trick will just talk to Aldis, they can make the match on their own. Yachty says now, now, listen. He’s had bigger fish frying in his pan. Yachty isn’t worried about Corbin. What he doesn’t stand for is the disrespect! Corbin disrespected Trick, he disrespected Yachty.
Did Trick forget about Minnesota? How Corbin took the title? How he put Yachty through a table? How it was on ESPN TV?! This is what he’s saying! None of that will matter because at Sunday Night’s Main Event, Yachty will do the unthinkable: He’ll survive the five minutes, you know he will, and Trick will come down marching to the ring, whoop dat trick, and he’ll get the title back! Let’s talk about that! Yachty says he’ll do his pump in the gym, see you later. Trick says he’ll take off his coat and chain and he’ll be right there. But then Trick turns around and sees Corbin. Corbin asks Trick if he knows why Corbin has no friends around here.
It’s because friends make you do stupid things. Corbin will whoop that trick. Oh, like we never heard that before. Corbin says he doesn’t have to be entertaining, cuz he’s the champ! Corbin shows off the belt (that still has most of the fur) then leaves. Will that belt stay with Corbin until it’s as bald as him? Or can Trick Yachty Gang save it from such a fate?
Cody Rhodes heads to the ring!
Ottawa cheers The American Nightmare, they join in on the “WHOA~ OH~!” and the pyro goes off. Cody high-fives fans as he goes, and we get the second “WHOA~ OH~!” and pyro. The fans cheer while Cody gets a mic, and Cody asks Ottawa, “Whaddya wanna talk about?” The fans cheer again, and Cody says, “Let’s talk about Randy Orton.” The fans are torn on that, and Cody says as much as he’d like to beat Randy senseless here and now, that doesn’t accomplish the whole “Kill the Legend Killer” idea, does it? After WrestleMania, this discussion, a great deal of it, has been around the number 15.
Which last Cody checked, that’s not the record. 18? Sure. But that’s not in the cards for Randy anymore. And if anyone was gonna beat the actual record, it would’ve been Randy Orton. But… Every time, and we all know this collectively, every time Randy starts going up, Randy screws up. Every crossroads Randy approaches, he goes the wrong way. And you hear this backstage: That’s just Randy being Randy, that’s Randy beating Randy. There’s always an excuse and it’s never Randy’s fault. But Cody will tell Randy that he’s been there firsthand on multiple occasions that while other guys got shown the door, Randy got slaps on the wrists.
Randy’s shoulders could never handle the burden of accountability for his own actions! Now, Randy has screwed up again by getting between Cody and the most important title in the WWE, THE WWE Championship, at SummerSlam. So at Sunday Night’s Main Event, it will not be Randy beating Randy, it’ll be Cody KILLING the Le- Orton interrupts with his entrance! Ottawa is torn as The Viper goes to the ring, no mic in hand. Orton then gets a mic as he steps into the ring, and he takes a moment before he says, “Accountability? You wanna talk about accountability?
“You’re right, early in my career, I had zero accountability. I made bad decision after bad decision after bad decision. And you were right there, you had a front seat for all of it. In fact, you had a driver’s seat, because I needed to be driven from town to town safely. I needed a babysitter, I needed someone to be my b*tch. And you, Cody, raised your hand, and more than willingly made sure I got tucked in each night in hotels across the world, safely and sounding. You resent me for that? Even just a little bit? Are you at a crossroads? If I were you, I’d punch me right in the face. Go ahead, take a swing!”
Cody glares at Randy but does not budge. Then how about that world title? Randy knows how much it means to Cody, because of how much it means to Randy! After his 100 day “vacation” after WrestleMania, where he kicked Cody in the face as hard as he could and left Cody disfigured, Randy decided to come back and make sure Cody didn’t beat Punk and didn’t take the gold home. How did that make Cody feel? Pissed him off? Want to take a swing? What’s the matter, Cody? Cat got your tongue? Oh, no, you’re more of a dog guy, huh? What’s that dog named? Pharaoh? Cody used to bring the dog to the back, so happy and excited.
But did that dog die? Is that dog gone? Did their family have to bury that dog in his backyard? In Atlanta! Sunday Night’s Main Event is in Cody’s backyard! Speaking of, Cody’s gonna have friends and family there to watch Randy kick him in the head again! How about that, “Code Man?” Cody snarls and takes off his jacket, but he doesn’t attack. Randy says come to think of it… Is Cody gonna make sure his trailer park trash mom is front row to see Randy kick his ass? Cody loosens the tie, but he still doesn’t throw hands. Randy paces, then comes back to say, “What about that trashy ass wife of yours? Is she gonna be there?”
Randy grins as he waits on a punch. The fans are torn as Randy keeps saying to do it, Cody! Do it! Cody cools off, and he says he knows what Randy is doing, and he knew that this is what he would do! Randy will do anything to get out of SNME, right? Randy wants Cody to hit him right now, right? Cody is counting the days until Atlanta, until SNME, when they find out if Randy really is this once-in-a-lifetime, generational superstar like Cody’s dad was. Or maybe, is Randy just a first-class screw up like his dad was? Oh, you wanna hit Cody, huh? Randy looks like he wants to hit Cody! See you in Atlanta!
Cody goes to leave, but he can sense Orton seething. Cody smirks as he exits, but the fuse is just burning down to nothing. What happens when things finally explode with the bell ringing?
Backstage interview with Tatum Paxley.
Jackie Redmond is with #FridayAddams and brings up her 1v1 with Mia Yim. Is Tatum ready for her match? Tatum says her mind has been racing with so many thoughts, ideas, and voice! Can she tell Jackie one? As a secret. Tatum whispers it to Jackie and Jackie is suddenly very worried. Jackie excuses herself, Tatum asks what’s wrong, and then Tatum turns around to see Charlotte & Alexa! Tatum’s excited! They had so much fun at brunch. Sorry about the misunderstanding on the blood. Charlotte says if only three wasn’t a crowd. Alexa has Charlotte stop there, and says they’ll just have to deal with it.

Charlotte says please do not make her regret sticking up for her. Tonight, Tatum has the opportunity to show Charlot- er, everyone what she can do. Backstage interview with Rey Fenix.
Byron Saxton is with the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion and brings up that this Monday Night Raw, Fenix battles for the right to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship in Mexico City. But part of that is having to face his very own brother, Penta. Fenix says he loves his brother, but this is Fenix’s moment! He will be World Heavyweight Champion! But Ricky Saints steps in and mockingly says how sweet, brothers battling for the same opportunity! What a cute story. But let’s get to the part we all know will happen: Fenix loses, then he has to come back here, tail tucked between his legs.
Then Fenix will have no choice but to stop ducking Saints and give him his shot at the Cruiserweight Championship! Fenix says Saints is so funny. Fenix will tell Saints a story: He wins the tournament, he wins the world title, then comes back to SmackDown to shut Saints up! Because you need to respect the champion! Fenix heads out, will he blaze a trail right to the Tribal Chief? Or will Fenix’s future be absolute?
Tatum Paxley w/ Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair VS Mia Yim w/ The Baddies!
As we heard, the newest addition to SmackDown, who has become fast friends with Alexa and almost friends with Charlotte, will be joining them against The Baddies in a Six Woman Tag in Atlanta! But then, will Tatum win this opening salvo in Ottawa? Or will Michin make her Eat Da Feet?
The bell rings and the fans rally. The two approach, but Mia dodges Tatum to then pie face her! Mia talks trash, but Tatum just frowns. They tie up, Mia waistlocks, but Tatum fights the lift. Tatum sits down, pries the hold open, then backflips over for the switch! Tatum floats to a facelock, the fans rally up again, but Mia wrenches out. Tatum SLAPS Mia! Tatum warns Mia, but Mia kicks! Tatum ducks, shoves, and hurdles Mia, to then slide under! Mia goes Spider-Woman in the ropes, and the fans cheer the standoff. Tatum runs up, Mia DUMPS her out, then Mia goes to the apron to PENALTY KICK! Mia says the kick is good!
Mia talks trash on Charlexa, then she goes back to Tatum. Mia shoves Tatum into the ring, but Tatum kips up! Tatum SHOTGUNS Mia down and the fans fire up! Tatum ASAI MOONSAULTS and down goes Mia! The fans cheer Tatum, she hugs Alexa & Charlotte, and SmackDown goes to break.
SmackDown returns as Mia CHOKES Tatum on the ropes! The ref reprimands and counts, Mia stops at 4, and she brings Tatum up. Tatum ROCKS Mia, ROCKS her again, but Mia DECKS Tatum! Cover, TWO! Mia KICKS Tatum while she’s down, then swaggers around as she soaks up heat. Mia clamps onto Tatum’ s legs and pulls her into a BOW ‘N’ ARROW! Tatum endures, pops free, and covers, TWO! Mia hurries to her feet while Tatum goes to a corner. Mia runs up, but Tatum avoids the cannonball! The fans rally for Tatum as she dodges again, then O’Conner Rolls! TWO, and Mia stands, blocks a kick, but not the SUPERKICK!
The fans fire up for Tatum, and she snarls and thrashes around! Tatum runs up on Mia to CLOBBER her! And CLOBBER her again! Then wrench and ROUNDHOUSE, ENZIGIRI, and Mia staggers away to a corner! Tatum glares at Jade, runs the ropes, and runs up on Mia! Mia DUMPS Tatum out, but Tatum avoids the shoulder thrust! JUMP KICK! The fans fire up again as Tatum hurries back in. Tatum runs up on Mia, Mia blocks a kick and slips through! Mia lifts Tatum to LIGER BOMB! Then a flip-over and she calls her shot! But Tatum fights the Clash to BACKDROP free! The fans fire up for Tatum as she rises again!
Tatum has a wild look in her eyes for the ROLLING LIGER KICK! And the CEMETERY DRIVE!! Cover, Tatum wins!
Winner: Tatum Paxley, by pinfall
Jade storms the ring but Tatum bails out! The Baddies are not happy about this, but will they just have to turn the tides in Atlanta? Or will Tatum, Charlotte & Alexa be able to weather The Storm?
Backstage interview with Blake Monroe.
Jackie Redmond is now with The Glamour, and brings up last week, where instead of having a match, she opted to attack Giulia instead. Jackie is just curious as to why Blake would jeopardize her own debut? Blake says she didn’t jeopardize anything. That match was beneath her. And if Jackie was good at her job, she’d be asking Aldis why he’d put Blake in a match like that in the first place. When there’s someone up to her standards, and an entrance worthy of her presence, then Blake will- GIULIA ATTACKS! The Beautiful Madness gets her revenge on Blake with a HEADBUTT and a BOOT! Refs rush in and stop her! They drag Giulia away, even as she’s raging!
Blake is also upset, but will this be reason enough for her to have her debut match now?
Kevin Owens heads to gorilla.
And on the way, he crosses paths with Randy Orton. Randy says he hates to admit this, but Kevin was right about Cody. Kevin says, “I know! I know! I was telling you! Remember? How many times did I tell you? This is amazing!” But then Randy stops Kevin there, and says he will not forget how Kevin dropped Randy on his head. They are not friends. Kevin says okay, but they can work on that. Kevin’s gonna go win, then they can talk. Kevin will call, okay? Kevin heads out, Randy sighs, but is there hope for the former Team R-KO Show?
MFT speaks.
Tama Tonga asks if you get it yet. Priest & Truth brought everything they had, but it wasn’t enough! MFT put them down! Seems like everyone has yet to get the message. Talla says Shinsuke Nakamura is trying to threaten them, when last time they saw each other, Talla put Nakamura through a table. Now it seems Nakamura went home to get back-up. Tama warns Kyoki that they’re not in Japan anymore. Senpai brought you all the way to MFT territory, just to get put in the dirt! Haku says they will not underestimate their enemies. But they will DESTROY their challengers! Why? Because they are the MOTHER EFFIN’ TONGANS!!
Damian Priest & R-Truth finish watching this.
The Archer of Infamy sighs, and Truth says bet. They’ll scout MFT, and get those tag titles back! No, no, Priest isn’t doing that. Priest admits, this was a great summer, and it was great because he got to reign alongside Truth. But that’s over, they don’t have the titles. That’s a sign that it’s time to move on. No, they gotta stick together! Priest says hey, when he came to SmackDown, he wanted to focus on singles titles. Priest needs to get back to that, but he will still have Truth’s back. But then in step Erik & Ivar. Did Priest say they’re finished as a team? Just from letting MFT take the titles from you before they could?
Well, now MFT’s gonna get the beating The War Raiders had for these two! Priest says these two sure are talking tough when they didn’t get the win, either! Erik says they didn’t lose. Truth says Priest still wants gold, so if these two have any gatos pantalones (cat pants?), they’ll put the AAA titles against them! No, that’s- Yeah, let’s do this in Mexico City! Priest isn’t so sure, but Ivar says the Raiders have no problem putting Priest & Truth outta their misery! Truth shouts mariposa! See you in Mexico. Priest asks why. Truth says one last ride! Uno mas, por favor? Yes, okay, one more. Priest heads out, Truth is pumped, but will it be #WepaUp south of the border?
The Irresistible Forces step into Aldis’ office.
Nia asks Aldis if he allotted the ENTIRE WWE charity budget to Chelsea, or if there’s some left for the whales. Never mind, Chelsea was cleared, Nia won, now Nia needs her title match ASAP. And she’s been screwed over too many times. Aldis said Chelsea has to defend within 30 days, so if Nia doesn’t get her match in the next two weeks, she’ll take it by force! Lash says IRRESISTIBLE Force! They leave, but then #MizKit steps in! And the A-Lister says speaking of those screwed out of opportunities… Oh, good to see they’re speaking in full sentences again! Yeah, haha. Kit?
WAKE UP, Nick! While Aldis was booking himself for SummerSlam, they were stuck as lab rats, being electrocuted and experimented on under his watch! Aldis failed as a GM! He is TOXIC. And tell ’em about lesson 25 of The MIZ Method! Kit opens his journal and reads Lesson 25: Always keep your receipts! Well, then Aldis can pay them back. Next week, a tag team match with the newly formed team, #BAKUSAI, aka Nakamura & Kyoki! Sound good? Perfect. Great! Miz says lesson 32: You’re not truly part of the locker room until you’ve been shown the ropes, Miz style! Welcome to the dojo, rookie!
Kit finishes writing all that, but will he and Miz learn a thing or two about Strong Style next week?
Undisputed WWE Championship #1 Contender’s Triple Threat: Kevin Owens VS GUNTHER VS Finn Balor!
The Prizefighter got screwed over by his best frenemy, Der Ring General feels he’s been screwed over by Aldis, and The Prince just wants to prove he’s still got it! But who defies the odds in Ottawa to get their shot at CM Punk?
SmackDown returns as Gunther makes his entrance, joining Kevin in the ring, leaving Finn for last but certainly not least. But then Gunther CLOBBERS Finn off the corner! The fans boo, the bell rings, and Kevin goes after Gunther! Gunther turns things around to CHOP Kevin, but Kevin fires forearms and CHOPS, then a flurry of fists and stomps in the corner! The ref reprimands but that’s all he can do. Kevin runs corner to corner, Gunther BOOTS him down! Finn RAMS into Gunther, sunset flips, TWO! Gunther scoops Finn but Finn slips free, but Kevin SUPERKICKS him into the DDT! Then Kevin SENTONS Gunther!
Kevin goes right up top, takes aim at Gunther, SWANTON BOMB! Cover, Finn breaks it! Finn CHOPS Kevin, whips, but Kevin turns backdrop into lift! Finn fights it to BACKDROP! Kevin sunset flips, Finn rolls through to BASEMENT DROPKICK! But then Gunther CHOPS Finn down! The fans boo but Gunther fires up. Gunther UPPERCUTS Finn, BOOTS Kevin, then claims he should be champion already. Finn rolls Gunther up, TWO! Gunther CHOPS Finn down again! The fans boo but Gunther paces around. Gunther drags Finn up, reels him in, but Finn fights free of the bomb! Finn DUMPS Gunther out, then builds speed, only for Kevin to be there!
Finn BLASTS Kevin, then still runs, but into Gunther’s SLEEPER! Finn FLINGS Gunther out, builds speed again, and he FLIES! Down goes Gunther at the ramp and the fans fire up with Finn! Finn flexes, but SmackDown goes to break.
SmackDown returns again as Kevin fights out of the corner against Gunther. Gunther CHOPS Kevin, but then Finn CHOPS Gunther! Finn runs, but into a BOOT! Gunther also BOOTS Kevin, then clamps on a SLEEPER! Kevin fights free to SUPERKICK! Then SUPERKICK on Finn! But Finn PELES Kevin! All three men are down and Ottawa fires up! “This is Awesome!” as Kevin rolls to ropes and Finn flounders in that direction. Finn goes to the apron, he RAMS into Gunther, then GAMANGIRIS! Gunther falls, Finn climbs! COUP DE- NO, Gunther dodges! But Kevin LRIATS Gunther, then LARIATS Finn!
CANNONBALL on Gunther! Kevin roars, but the SLINGBLADE hits! Finn kicks Gunther, then runs up on Kevin! SHOTGUN on Kevin and he falls! Finn climbs up again, but Kevin anchors a foot! Kevin ROCKS Finn, then ROCKS him again. Kevin climbs, but Gunther waistlocks Kevin! Gunther drags Kevin down, ripcord and LARIAT! Then a CHOP for Finn! Gunther drags Kevin up for the SLEEPER! Gunther drops back with Kevin, but Finn just reloads! COUP DE GRACE on them both!! The fans fire up, but then Gunther scoops Finn! Finn slips free, EYE OF THE HURRICANE! The fans fire up as Finn aims, SHOTGUN!
Gunther falls into the drop zone, and Finn climbs once more! COUP DE GRACE!! Cover, but SAMI YANKS FINN OUT!! The fans boo, but Sami ruins another match! Sami TOSSES Finn over the desk! Then he DECKS the ref!! Kevin kicks Gunther, STUNNER!! Cover, but there’s no ref to count! Finn would’ve won, Kevin would’ve won, but then another ref hurries out here! ONLY FOR SAMI TO CLOBBER HIM!! Sami says, “Not on my watch, pal!” But then CM PUNK storms out here! The Last Real Good Guy brawls with the champ! The fans cheer Punk as he SMACKS Sami off barriers, then THROWS him into more barriers!
Punk says THIS is justice, and he throws hands on Sami! The fans cheer Punk as he POSTS Sami! Punk rains down fists, then grabs the belt. Punk winds up, but Sami runs away! They go into the ring, and Kevin goes after Punk! The fans fire up for that brawl, but wait, Sami sneaks the belt! Kevin kicks Punk, then LARIATS! BELT SHOT from Sami to Kevin, just like in Toronto!! The fans boo, but then Sami BELT SHOTS Finn! Gunther has a SLEEPER on Sami! But Sami BELT SHOTS Gunther, too! Sami sees Punk getting up, so he BELT SHOTS Punk back down! The fans boo as Sami absolutely demolishes the world title scene!
Sami holds up the belt, saying he should still have this belt! There is no justice, no peace! No one gets theirs until he gets his! Will Sami’s actions get him what he wants? Or only what he deserves?
My Thoughts:
A great SmackDown here, for also being prerecorded on Monday (which is why Raw was earlier than usual). A great promo from Kevin to open the show, good stuff with Punk and Gunther and Finn joining, but obviously, setting up a Triple Threat that was basically SummerSlam’s match minus Sami was going to provoke Sami into doing what he did tonight. At this rate, they could do a Five Way or even a Six Pack Challenge, with the winner of Cody VS Randy as the sixth man. Great promo from Cody and Randy with both of them egging each other on and adding to the heat. Too bad they couldn’t have just done this and not let TKO force Pat McAfee into it. Though, why was THIS how we learn Pharaoh may have passed? What a sucker punch outta left field…
Very good promo from MFT to call out “Bakusai,” and good promo from Priest, Truth and the War Raiders to set up a AAA World Tag Team Championship match for that Mexico Monday Night Raw. Or is it for the AAA equivalent of Heatwave? Either way, that’ll be a great match, and maybe there’s half a chance Priest & Truth win those titles to stick together for a little longer. Good stuff seeing Danhausen back on SmackDown, but a little disappointed they just dropped the entire braindead MizKit idea. But speaking of Bakusai, they’ll obviously get a win off MizKit and start building towards the tag title match with MFT.
Good promo from Trick with Yachty and Corbin to hype up the five minute challenge. Honestly, all Yachty needs to do is play prevent defense and he can run out the clock, but I bet since this is a Heel putting up the challenge, Corbin is going to toy with Yachty for about three or four minutes, and then Yachty gets one over on him with a quick roll up, Corbin’s one true weakness. Then Trick VS Corbin can be set up for Money in the Bank in October, or somewhere along the way if they also want these guys to actually be in the MITB match.
The Women’s Division really got to shine tonight, though. Giulia getting revenge on Blake was a logical move, but I feel like Aldis will still need to incentivize Blake by offering some kind of title opportunity on the other side of winning. It won’t be the Women’s US title since Paige got cheated out of that. But duh, that’s also because she and Nikki still need to settle things, which will be a good match. Good stuff with Chelsea powering through the injury, but because of that, it made sense Nia & Lash would get their win. Chelsea VS Nia is a logical move with how they were having Nia “screwed” out of her chances, but I feel like she’s just gonna lose in her own scenario of “Dominates for the majority but gets rolled up quick.” The Chelsea Underdog Champion story has only just begun, we can’t kill it now.
And good promo from Tatum, Charlotte & Alexa, and naturally they go with a Six Woman Tag as I expected. Great win for Tatum tonight, but that makes me feel like The Baddies win in Atlanta. I still think there needs to be something big for Charlotte and Jade to finally put this to bed, with Tatum & Alexa teaming against B-Fab & Michin on the side in like a Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders match. Then there can be more dysfunction within Charlexa over that since Charlotte wants to do everything with Alexa.
My Score: 8.8/10
