Big Cass returns as a monster heel, Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer target Liv Morgan, LA Knight confronts Roman Reigns and NXT puts two titles on the line.

WWE’s first Raw after SummerSlam produced three major returns and established several potential championship programs for the remainder of the summer.

Big Cass immediately targeted one of Raw’s fastest-rising wrestlers, while Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer both placed themselves in the path of Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan.

Big Cass Returns as a Monster Heel

Big Cass made his WWE return following Je’Von Evans’ victory over Ethan Page.

The previous video packages had focused on Cass overcoming the setbacks that followed his first WWE run, creating the expectation that he might return as a sympathetic figure. Instead, Cass attacked Evans from behind and dropped him with the East River Crossing.

Cass said WWE left him for dead eight years ago and declared that he had returned to stack bodies. Former tag-team partner Enzo Amore did not appear with him.

Targeting Evans immediately gives Cass an established opponent who can emphasize his size and power. It also removes any uncertainty about how WWE intends to present him.

Evans has accumulated several important victories, but this rivalry represents a different challenge. Cass does not need to outpace him. He needs to prevent Evans from creating enough space to use the athleticism that has carried him through matches against more experienced opponents.

Brie Bella Confirms Broken Scapula

Brie Bella has confirmed that she suffered a broken scapula during Saturday’s six-woman tag-team match at SummerSlam.

The injury occurred when Jacy Jayne drove Brie into the steel steps outside the ring. Brie continued through the remainder of the match before being taken to the hospital for scans.

Brie said she will be out for a while but remains determined to recover and eventually resume the Bella Twins’ reunion run.

The injury creates an immediate complication for the Bella Twins’ heel turn against Paige. WWE ended the match with Nikki and Brie betraying their partner, clearly establishing the next rivalry.

Nikki can continue the program alone while Brie recovers, but WWE may need to adjust anything designed around a traditional tag-team feud. Paige could also use the situation to recruit another partner and expand the story beyond the original three women.

Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer Target Liv Morgan

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan declared that no one on Raw was capable of taking her championship before Becky Lynch made her return.

Lynch criticized Morgan’s lack of title defenses and made it clear that she wanted the championship. Morgan dismissed the challenge and attempted to leave with Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.

Stephanie Vaquer then returned and attacked Rodriguez and Perez, leaving Morgan isolated before sharing a tense stare with Lynch.

Morgan entered Raw without an obvious challenger and left with two former world champions staring at her title. Lynch offers the established rivalry, while Vaquer has unfinished business after an injury interrupted her previous run.

WWE can move directly into a three-woman championship program or allow Lynch and Vaquer to compete for the first opportunity. Either direction gives Morgan a much more difficult assignment than the one she survived against IYO SKY.

Roman Reigns also received his first direct challenge following SummerSlam when LA Knight confronted him. Reigns told Knight to move to the back of the line, while Knight promised to fight his way into a championship opportunity.

Oba Femi celebrated his victory over Brock Lesnar and declared himself the leader of WWE’s new era. Bron Breakker later confronted Femi backstage, teasing a collision between two of the company’s most powerful young stars.

The confrontation between Femi and Breakker may carry even larger long-term consequences. WWE spent SummerSlam establishing Femi as Lesnar’s successor, and Breakker represents another performer being prepared for the top of the card.

What to Watch on WWE NXT

Two NXT championships will be defended Tuesday night from the WWE Performance Center.

• NXT Women’s Championship – Kendal Grey (c) vs. Lola Vice — NXT Underground Match
• NXT Tag Team Championship – Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes (c) vs. Myles Borne and Tavion Heights.

Kendal Grey will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Lola Vice in an NXT Underground Match. The stipulation removes the ropes and allows victory only through knockout, technical knockout or submission. The champion cannot rely on a pinfall or escape with a disqualification; she must force Vice to quit or become unable to continue.

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights will also challenge Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Borne earned the opportunity for his team by successfully defending the North American Championship against Kam Hendrix last week. Borne has an opportunity to become a double champion, but the match also creates pressure within his partnership with Heights. Carrying the North American Championship establishes Borne as the team’s most accomplished member, and a tag-title loss could expose whether Heights is comfortable remaining in that position.

Raw immediately established several paths out of SummerSlam. Cass returned with a clear opponent, Knight stepped toward Reigns and the women’s division gained two championship-level challengers.

Morgan may remain champion, but she no longer controls the conversation surrounding her reign. Lynch and Vaquer have both returned with reasons to demand her attention.

Femi and Breakker also represent a rivalry WWE does not need to rush. Their first confrontation was enough to establish the possibility, and both men have other opponents available while the company builds toward a larger match.

NXT will now carry the momentum into Tuesday with two title defenses. Grey must survive a match designed around Vice’s strengths, while Borne attempts to add another championship without losing control of the one he already holds.
