Hangman Page and Brodido win AEW trios gold, MJF attacks Andrade, Will Ospreay survives Mark Davis and TNA’s Knockouts tournament continues.
Hangman Page returned to competition by immediately capturing championship gold at AEW Grand Slam Mexico.
MJF also resurfaced with the AEW World Championship still on his mind, while Will Ospreay survived a violent encounter with his former United Empire partner.
It’s the Chairshot Wrestling News Report for August 6, 2026!
Hangman Page and Brodido Capture AEW Trios Championship
Hangman Page, Bandido and Brody King defeated The Demand to capture the AEW World Trios Championship during Grand Slam Mexico.
Page and Bandido secured the victory by combining the Buckshot Lariat and 21-Plex on Toa Liona. The championship victory came in Page’s first match since losing at Revolution and being barred from challenging for the AEW World Championship again.
MJF also returned after Andrade defeated Komander and Tommaso Ciampa to earn the first entrance in the Casino Gauntlet at All In.
MJF attacked Andrade with a championship belt and the Dynamite Diamond Ring before claiming that his version of the AEW World Championship remains the only legitimate title. He announced that he will compete next week for the second entrance in the Casino Gauntlet.
Willow Nightingale gained an important advantage before All In by pinning Mercedes Moné during their six-woman tag-team match.
Will Ospreay closed the show by defeating Mark Davis in a Mexico City Street Fight. The former United Empire partners used chairs, barbed wire and other weapons before Ospreay connected with the Hidden Blade.
AEW Grand Slam Mexico Results — August 5, 2026
- The Death Riders defeated Adam Copeland, Christian Cage and The Young Bucks
- Casino Gauntlet No. 1 Entry Qualifier – Andrade defeated Komander and Tommaso Ciampa
- Willow Nightingale and The Brawling Birds defeated Mercedes Moné and Divine Dominion
- AEW International Championship – Kyle Fletcher (c) defeated “Speedball” Mike Bailey
- Chris Jericho, Darby Allin and Místico defeated Kazuchika Okada, Kevin Knight and Hechicero
- Persephone defeated Kris Statlander
- AEW World Trios Championship – Hangman Page, Bandido and Brody King defeated The Demand (c) to win the championship
- Mexico City Street Fight – Will Ospreay defeated Mark Davis
The trios championship gives Page a meaningful direction without reversing the stipulation preventing him from pursuing Kenny Omega. It also places Bandido and King in a prominent position after their alliance with Page developed quickly.
MJF’s return adds another threat to the world-title picture. He cannot interfere with Omega against Ospreay at All In and expect to be treated as champion, but winning the Casino Gauntlet would give him a direct route toward challenging the winner.
Ospreay escaped Mexico City with the victory, although the damage created by Davis may matter as he prepares for Omega. All In is still several weeks away, but Ospreay cannot afford to continue surviving matches that remove something from him physically.
Bianca Belair and Montez Ford Welcome Their First Child
Bianca Belair and Montez Ford have welcomed their first child together. The WWE couple announced the arrival of their son, Romeo Leonardo Allen Crawford, through a joint social-media post that included close-up photos of the newborn’s feet and hair.
Belair announced her pregnancy during WrestleMania 42 in April. She and Ford have been married since 2018.
Belair’s eventual return to WWE can wait. The company has not announced a timetable, and the immediate focus belongs on the family beginning an entirely different chapter together.
TNA Confirms Mara Sadè and Jody Threat Departures
TNA Wrestling has confirmed that Mara Sadè and Jody Threat are no longer with the company.
Sadè’s contract had expired while she remained involved in the Knockouts Television Championship Tournament. Her quarterfinal match against Heather by Elegance was already recorded and is expected to air Thursday.
Threat reportedly requested and received her release. She leaves after twice holding the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship alongside Dani Luna and recently expressed interest in competing in Japan.
TNA also teased that a former titleholder will return to the Knockouts division but did not reveal the wrestler’s identity.
The departures remove two experienced wrestlers from a division currently attempting to establish another championship. TNA’s taped schedule also creates the unusual possibility of Sadè advancing in a tournament after her exit has already been announced.
The returning former champion could offset some of that lost depth, but the value of the move will depend on whether the wrestler is returning for a sustained run rather than a brief appearance.
What to Watch on TNA Impact
Mara Sadè will face Heather by Elegance in a quarterfinal match in the Knockouts Television Championship Tournament during Thursday’s TNA Impact.
Sadè advanced by defeating Tasha Steelz, while Heather earned her position with a victory over Allie.
The winner will move into the tournament semifinals and remain two victories away from becoming the inaugural Knockouts Television Champion.
TNA had only officially confirmed one match for the episode as of Wednesday night.
TNA Impact — August 6, 2026
- Knockouts Television Championship Tournament Quarterfinal – Mara Sadè vs. Heather by Elegance
Sadè’s announced departure gives the match an additional layer of uncertainty. A Heather victory would provide the simplest route forward, but Sadè winning would force TNA to explain how the tournament continues without one of its semifinalists under contract.
Grand Slam Mexico significantly advanced AEW’s All In direction. Page has found another championship path, MJF has forced himself back into the world-title conversation and Nightingale proved she can pin Moné before their championship match.
TNA faces a different challenge. The Knockouts Television Championship was created to give more women consistent opportunities, but the promotion must now navigate a tournament while multiple participants leave the company.
Thursday’s Impact should begin revealing whether the departures require substantial changes or whether TNA’s taped schedule has already provided a workable transition.
