Andrew’s JCW Lunacy 99 Rewind Results & Ratings

Well this is probably going to be a mostly clips show, but they did say there were going to be live matches as well. So even if there’s a lot of going back, there may be some fun things today.

Episode 100 should be interesting story wise. Dani Mo vs Big Al, Big Vito vs Sally Boy and The Headbangers vs Choppa City come to mind. Of course the Lunacy World title match with Caleb Konley vs Shane Mercer should be a solid match, assuming the shenanigans aren’t too high.

But like I always say, Juggalos bring the fun not the workrate. So just kick back, learn how we got to 100 and see why there will be 100 more.

Results:

They start with a recap of the first 10 episodes. James Storm and Kerry Morton as tag champs, Nick Gage and Mad Man Pondo, Ricky Morton having to whoop his son and the Southern Six, early moments from the women’s division tying together for 100 since Dani Mo vs Alice Crowley was the first JCW women’s match in the Lunacy era.

They show clips from that first match up with Dani firing up, catching Alice with a kick combination and corner falling DDT for a two. Alice with the Kitchen Sink into a Fisherman Suplex Hold, but only two. Alice palms Dani’s face, Dani fights back, rope run, ships pass, Dani hits the Springboard Back Elbow and a Rope Walk Crossbody for the win! So Dani won the first ever women’s match on Lunacy, gotta wonder if that will play on Alice’s mind.

We get a music video with Violent J’s Lunacy Lunatic Rap, name dropping the roster and bringing that acid trip flow.

Steven Flowe w/Ring Rat vs Broke Ass Breyer Wellington vs The Man Servant Jeeves

Jeeves hits the corner to get a small pop, but Steven nut shots both Breyer and Jeeves, before they Double Jimmy Tap him and Tandem Back Elbow before arguing. Ring Rat climbs on the apron, Steve hits a Stage Dive on Breyer but Jeeves goes for a Cradle, only two. Jeeves stacks them in the corner, Flying Lariat, rope assisted Headscissors on Breyer sends him stumbling into a Spear into Steven. Jeeves with a punch combination on Breyer, but misses the last one, Breyer hits a Neckbreaker on Steven, Jeeves will a Bulldog into the turnbuckles, Headbutt to the dick from Jeeves and Jeeves pins Breyer for the win!

We get a rewind to James Storm’s debut in Lunacy talking smack to Kerry Morton and the Southern Six.

Next rewind goes to 2 Tuff Tony vs Matt Cardona. Cardona tries to hit Tony with Tony’s title twice, hits the ref so there’s no one to count Tony’s win. Pondo and Mickie Knuckles attack Tony, Vampiro shows up, and distracts Tony long enough for Cardona to hit the low blow, belt shot and shakes the referee. But Tony kicks out at two! Tony fires, Body Drop, Lariats, Scoop and Lionsault! Tony sets up the Meteorite and it connects, Tony retains!

A bit of a rewind on the Steven Flowe vs CoKane friendship turned hatred. And then we go to another Orange Phantom promo video. It’s…fantastically cartoonish and dumb, in an awesome way.

They reflect on the 1000 Gimmicks of Moshpit Mike, since he officially captured the Sasquatch, we get to see…some of the less successful gimmicks. Like Man in Black Mike, used a Noisy Cricket on Caleb Konley. Breyer and Jeeves are having issues on the outside, so Caleb shoves Mike into Jeeves and Caleb manages to escape the match with his American Championship at the time.

Claude (Wrestling with Wregret) in a rewind with Sharkboy in Stone Cold gimmick. Sharkboy gets his pound of…flesh? fins? scales?

Rae Larsson vs Alice Crowley

Al beat Rae Larsson to qualify for the triple threat a few weeks ago, so Saginaw’s own Rae should want revenge. A tie up, into a Judo throw, Rae telegraphs the Body Drop after the reverse whip, so Alice continues her onslaught. Rae manages to trip her into the buckles and then go around the world from corner to corner as she tries to gain some momentum. Rae misses the PK, cradle for two, Rae with a Thrust Kick into a Lariat and Butterfly Suplex for two. Al blocks a few strikes, Polish Hammer, Pump Kick and Saito Suplex from Al but only a two.

Al tries to get something going, but Rae hits a surprising Fame ASSer for two! Rae takes her up, Al slips it, Rae and Al with Standing Switches, O’Connor Roll with the Bridge from Big Al for the win!

We start getting to some more recent clips with the Luciano Family and how they outed the Brother’s of Funstruction as mob members in witness protection, Russo taking over JCW  because the contract gave him 51% and when Big Al was show runner the first time and used her power to screw over Dani Mo and Haley J.

Special Guest Referee Mad Man Pondo: Backseat Boyz vs CoKane & 2 Tuff Tony

Backseats start firing off but Cokane and Tony look generally unphased. Double Whip, Dosi-Do from the Backseats, they go for the Sole Butts, but Coke and Tony catch their feet, spin em and drop em. Tony slams into JP with a Back Elbow, quick tag, Tandem Shoulder Tackle, for a 1 count. JP tries to whip CoKane, but he slips, slides, ducks and Martix dodges around anything JP tries, CoKane goes for the Coke Walk after the Uppercut, but Tommy trips up CoKane and the Backseats take control. Quick tags, tandem shots, blatant chokes, cheapshots and a Wishbone spot for a near fall.

More tandem offense from the Backseats get punctuated with a Double Bulldog for only a 2 count. Tommy is irate it was only two, but then grabs a Headlock. Cokane fights up, Cokane dodges and Tommy punches Pondo, Pondo nearly goes after Tommy, but he then catches Cokane before the tag and keeps him isolated. A few quick shots, Airplane Spin to make everyone dizzy, JP takes out Tony, but Cokane hits the Backflip into the Reverse DDT position, goozles Tommy and Coke Slams Tommy into JP as they go down. Tony with the hot tag, wipes out both Boyz, Lionsault on JP, but Tommy makes the save.

Everyone is in, Backseats jump over their opponents, Tandem Tornado DDTs. They try the T Gimmick but Tony grabs Cokane like a Powerbomb so Cokane Frankensteiner’s Tony and he stumbles like a missile into the smaller guys as a makeshift tandem attack. Hockey fight, Pondo breaks up the Hockey fight but Backseats attack Pondo. Pondo is selling a little, but you have to wonder how Pondo will make them pay.

Cokane grabs his stash, Coke Slam is countered by a kick to the dick. But Pondo hits Tommy with the Stop Sign, Coke Slam on JP, Meteorite on Tommy and Cokane and Tony win!

They end the show with Violent J winning control of Lunacy back, and the general feel good moment that was that whole story.

Overall Score: 10/10

This was exactly the kind of Rewind/Recap show you expected. There’s a lot of crazy crap, a little bit of live wrestling between, but it did a great job at showing the evolution of characters and how far Lunacy has come. We also got great highlights to show how far Kerry Morton has come from a shithead nepo baby to actual Mr. JCW instead of just saying it to be funny. 2 Tuff Tony is shown as a foundational block of Lunacy, Dani Mo and Alice Crowley are put over as the heart of the women’s division to add weight to their match next week and everyone hating GCW with a few clips from previous JCW vs GCW moments helps to stoke those flames.

So this did everything it was expected to do. It’s like a greatest hits album, even if you weren’t there when it first came out, catch up, light up, and keep up. Because the Lunacy train is rolling and if NWA and MLW can get Tubi/PlutoTV/Roku deals, JCW shouldn’t be far behind because it’s a better product than those two combined.
