Monday Night Raw did not need much time to move beyond wrestling’s overloaded weekend.

Penta defeated his brother Rey Fenix to earn a World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns, Royce Keys and OTM escalated their war with The Usos, and Raquel Rodriguez survived Sol Ruca after an unexpected assist from Lyra Valkyria.

AEW also wasted little time capitalizing on Wembley, announcing two significant United Kingdom events for February.

Penta Defeats Rey Fenix and Earns Roman Reigns

Penta defeated Rey Fenix in Monday’s World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament Final, earning a championship match against Roman Reigns when Raw visits Mexico City on September 14.

The story worked because WWE did not need to manufacture animosity between the brothers. They entered the match understanding that only one could move forward, and the championship opportunity was important enough to temporarily place their relationship behind the competition.

Penta now gets one of the largest singles matches WWE can give him, and putting it in Mexico City adds another layer to the presentation. Reigns does not need a deeply personal rivalry for every championship defense. Sometimes the strongest attraction is simply an established star meeting somebody who earned the opportunity and enters with a significant home-region connection.

Royce Keys and OTM Destroy The Usos

Raw opened with Royce Keys, Bronco Nima and Lucien Price attacking The Usos in the parking lot. Jimmy Uso was slammed into the rear window of a vehicle, while Jacob Fatu arrived afterward and delivered an angry response before the group escaped.

This feud has moved beyond OTM making occasional disruptive appearances. Keys, Nima and Price are now being positioned as a coordinated threat capable of targeting one of WWE’s most established tag teams before the show even begins.

Jacob Fatu becoming personally involved expands the story without requiring another championship. WWE has several wrestlers connected through family history and prior alliances, and OTM has created a reason for those relationships to matter again. Keys gaining credibility from directing the chaos is especially important if WWE wants him to become more than the person standing alongside Nima and Price.

Roman Reigns Puts the Royce Keys Problem on Jacob Fatu

Roman Reigns addressed the situation later on Raw and ordered Jacob Fatu to deal with Royce Keys while Reigns turned his attention toward his upcoming championship defense against Penta. Reigns also became involved in a physical confrontation with LA Knight after Solo Sikoa was attacked.

That creates a useful division of responsibilities within Roman’s orbit. Reigns has a world championship challenger waiting in Mexico City, while Fatu now has a more immediate assignment involving the group that attacked The Usos.

The interesting part will be whether Jacob accepts the instruction as loyalty or eventually begins hearing it as another command. WWE has years of Bloodline history built around Roman expecting relatives to handle his problems, so even a straightforward order carries baggage the audience already understands.

Raquel Rodriguez Retains After Lyra Valkyria Costs Sol Ruca

Raquel Rodriguez retained the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca after interference surrounding the match. Roxanne Perez and Liv Morgan appeared at ringside, but the decisive moment came when Lyra Valkyria prevented Ruca from completing the Sol Snatcher, allowing Rodriguez to finish the challenger with the Tejada Bomb.

The finish keeps Raquel’s title reign moving while creating a separate problem for Sol. Lyra’s involvement matters more than another conventional Judgment Day interference spot because it redirects the challenger toward somebody who intentionally prevented her from winning a championship.

Sol can leave the match arguing she had Raquel in position before outside interference changed the outcome. Raquel keeps the championship without needing the rivalry to continue immediately, while Lyra and Sol now have their own reason to fight.

Dragon Lee Earns an Intercontinental Championship Match

Dragon Lee defeated Ethan Page on Raw to become the No. 1 contender to Chad Gable’s Intercontinental Championship. Gable was involved at ringside and ultimately prevented Page from using his usual shortcuts, helping clear the path for Lee to earn the title match in Mexico City.

Lee challenging for the championship in Mexico City gives WWE another match that should feel larger because of where it is happening. The company has increasingly used international television events as destinations rather than ordinary episodes held somewhere different, and putting meaningful title matches on those cards reinforces that approach.

Gable helping determine his own challenger also creates a different dynamic. He did not hand Lee the victory, but he ensured Page could not steal it, which gives the champion very little room to complain about who is coming for him next.

Joe Hendry Comes to Je’Von Evans’ Aid

Joe Hendry appeared on Raw to help Je’Von Evans against The Judgment Day before Hendry and Evans faced JD McDonagh and his partner in tag-team action. Judgment Day ultimately escaped with the victory, but Hendry’s involvement continued WWE’s willingness to move talent across brand and promotional boundaries.

Hendry no longer feels like a novelty whenever he appears on WWE programming, and that may be the most meaningful development of his crossover run. The audience understands who he is without needing another elaborate introduction, allowing WWE to insert him into an existing conflict and move directly into the wrestling.

Pairing him with Je’Von also makes sense stylistically. Both performers connect through personality before the bell and can create energy without requiring a lengthy storyline explanation. The defeat leaves room for the pairing to continue without making the appearance feel ceremonial.

AEW Announces Dynasty in Liverpool and Dynamite in London

AEW announced Monday that Dynasty will take place February 7, 2027 at M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, followed by Dynamite at The O2 in London on February 10. Dynasty will become AEW’s first United Kingdom pay-per-view held outside London, while the Dynamite episode will be the company’s first from London.

Announcing the dates less than 24 hours after All In is a clear attempt to turn the United Kingdom from an annual destination into a more regular part of AEW’s touring calendar. Liverpool getting Dynasty is especially notable because it demonstrates that the company believes the British market extends beyond Wembley.

The O2 also provides a very different test from AEW’s stadium events. Filling a major London arena for weekly television would show whether the company can generate strong demand in the market without attaching everything to the All In brand.

Kevin Owens Avoids an Injury Scare

Kevin Owens appeared to suffer a knee injury during WWE’s August 30 live event in Charleston, South Carolina, but subsequent reporting indicated that Owens is not injured and was selling the knee during the match.

The initial concern was understandable given Owens’ injury history and the footage of him limping after the match. Confirmation that the issue was part of the performance removes a potentially significant complication from WWE’s current main-event picture.

Owens remains connected to the unresolved championship situation surrounding CM Punk and Sami Zayn, so losing him immediately after SmackDown would have forced WWE to alter a story that just expanded to include several possible challengers.

NXT Returns With Heatwave Fallout

NXT airs Tuesday from the WWE Performance Center with the fallout from Heatwave, where Grayson Waller captured the NXT Championship, Kelani Jordan won the NXT Women’s Championship and Zaria unified the Women’s North American and Women’s Speed titles. WWE has positioned the episode as the first opportunity to establish the new direction following Sunday’s championship-heavy event.

Heatwave changed enough championships that Tuesday does not require another major attraction simply for the sake of having one. Waller needs to establish what his return to NXT looks like now that he is champion, while Jordan and Zaria both enter television with divisions that immediately need new challengers.

The most important thing NXT can accomplish is showing that Heatwave’s title changes created new stories rather than simply producing surprising results. Several divisions have different champions than they did 48 hours ago, and Tuesday begins the process of defining what those changes actually mean.

AEW is already looking beyond Wembley as well. Announcing Liverpool and London dates immediately after All In makes clear that the company does not intend for its British audience to disappear from the schedule until the next stadium show.

September begins with both companies already establishing what comes after their biggest August developments, which gives the new month considerably more momentum than a simple post-event reset.
