PAC Targets Andrade

PAC challenges Andrade after Collision, Darby Allin survives Myron Reed and Místico takes Averno’s hair at CMLL’s 93rd Anniversary.

AEW used Saturday’s Collision to put another important piece onto the All Out card.

Andrade El Idolo retained the National Championship against Daniel Garcia only to discover PAC waiting as his next challenger, while Darby Allin survived an impressive TNT Championship defense against Myron Reed. Away from AEW, CMLL closed its 93rd Anniversary event with Místico taking Averno’s hair in Arena México.

It’s the Chairshot Wrestling News Report for September 20, 2026!

PAC Targets Andrade After Another Successful Defense

Andrade El Idolo defeated Daniel Garcia on Collision to retain the AEW National Championship, surviving several submission attempts before reversing Garcia into the deciding pin. PAC watched Andrade closely during the show, and AEW later made Andrade vs. PAC official for All Out on September 26.

The matchup adds another championship fight to a pay-per-view already built around Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley. Andrade has spent the weeks since All In establishing the National Championship as something he intends to actively defend, and PAC gives him an opponent whose intensity immediately raises the level of the program.

The interesting wrinkle is how little setup the match actually needs. PAC staring Andrade down communicates the problem quickly, while both men have enough credibility that AEW can spend the final week building tension instead of explaining why the match matters.

AEW Collision Results — September 19, 2026

Saturday’s Collision featured two championship defenses, another win for Thekla ahead of All Out and PAC continuing his momentum before moving directly toward Andrade.

  • AEW TNT Championship – Darby Allin (c) defeated Myron Reed
  • Thekla defeated Zayda Steel
  • PAC defeated Adam Priest
  • AEW National Championship – Andrade El Idolo (c) defeated Daniel Garcia

Darby’s match with Reed was especially useful because AEW gave an outside challenger enough offense to make the open challenge feel meaningful. Reed nearly stole the championship after the No Cap Splash before Darby eventually recovered and retained with the Coffin Drop.

Afterward, Steven Borden again positioned himself beside Darby and talked openly about pursuing the AEW Tag Team Championship with him. AEW continues allowing Borden to develop inside a story built around people the audience already understands instead of forcing him into an isolated singles run too early.

Darby Allin Gives Myron Reed His Respect

Darby Allin praised Myron Reed after retaining the TNT Championship, shaking Reed’s hand following a match where the Rascalz member repeatedly pushed the champion close to defeat. Reed had answered Darby’s open contract after the Rascalz gained momentum through recent AEW appearances.

This is one of the better uses of the TNT Championship because the belt historically works best when it introduces television audiences to wrestlers they may not normally see in high-profile singles matches. Reed did not need to win for the appearance to matter; he needed enough time and credibility to show why he belonged there.

Darby also benefits from those defenses. A champion becomes more interesting when the reign develops through actual matches instead of waiting several weeks between major pay-per-view programs.

Thekla Gets Ready for Willow

Thekla defeated Zayda Steel while Willow Nightingale joined commentary, keeping their All Out issue active one week before they meet. The winner at All Out is scheduled to move forward toward Mercedes Moné and the AEW Women’s World Championship picture.

Thekla spent much of the match deliberately engaging with Willow, which kept the upcoming match visible without requiring another physical confrontation between them. That kind of restraint can be useful during a go-home stretch because not every rivalry needs another brawl before the pay-per-view.

With Mercedes unavailable for All Out, Thekla-Willow also becomes more important to the future direction of the division. AEW needs another challenger ready once Moné returns, and this match creates one through an actual storyline rather than a sudden rankings announcement.

All Out Adds More Matches

AEW announced several additions to the September 26 All Out weekend following Collision. Andrade will defend against PAC, while the televised Tailgate Brawl before the pay-per-view will include Bang Bang Gang against members of the Death Riders and The Dogs, along with Jack Perry facing Katsuyori Shibata.

The Tailgate Brawl concept gives AEW a useful place for stories that deserve a significant platform but do not necessarily need to expand the main pay-per-view into another marathon. It also allows the company to make the entire day feel like an event rather than asking the audience to arrive only when the PPV begins.

All Out already has plenty happening around Ospreay-Moxley. The challenge over the final week is making sure the supporting card retains its own identity instead of becoming a collection of matches assembled after the world-title program.

Six More Teams Join the Dusty Rhodes Classic

WWE announced six additional teams for the returning Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, expanding a tournament that will draw teams from across NXT and WWE’s wider developmental network. The tournament begins Tuesday on NXT after a two-year absence.

The expanded field is what makes this version intriguing. WWE has increasingly blurred the boundaries between NXT, Evolve, AAA and the main roster, and the Dusty Classic gives the company a simple competitive framework for putting those worlds together.

Announced teams:

  • Birth Right (Channing Lorenzo & Uriah Connors)
  • Mini Vikingo & Chaz Starboy Hall
  • Fraxiom
  • DarkState (Cutler James & Osiris Griffin)
  • Romeo Moreno & Noam Dar
  • Los Americanos
  • NXT Tag Team Champions Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)
  • The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed)
  • AAA Tag Team Champions The Wagner Brothers (El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr & Galeno)

Tag tournaments also solve a recurring developmental problem by giving teams stakes beyond simply winning another weekly match. Even teams that do not reach the final can leave with a rivalry, upset or breakout performance that gives them a clearer direction afterward.

Místico Takes Averno’s Hair at CMLL’s 93rd Anniversary

Místico defeated Averno in a Mask vs. Hair match to close CMLL’s 93rd Anniversary event at Arena México. The stipulation emerged from a four-team elimination match earlier in the night, with Místico and Averno surviving as the winning team before being forced to face one another in the final apuesta. Místico eventually submitted Averno with La Mística.

Averno initially appeared to accept the loss, allowing his head to be shaved and raising Místico’s arm before attacking El Sky Team and ripping away their masks to end the show. The angle ensured the anniversary closed with another feud waiting rather than treating the hair loss as a complete conclusion.

The card also featured Hechicero retaining the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship against Zack Sabre Jr. and Claudio Castagnoli, Titán retaining against Komander and Persephone escaping the women’s four-way with her title.

All Out Enters Its Final Week

AEW now has one week remaining before All Out, with Collision giving Andrade-PAC a championship hook and keeping Darby, Thekla, Willow and several faction stories active. Dynamite becomes the final major opportunity to turn those pieces into something that feels urgent rather than simply announced.

The pay-per-view already has the centerpiece it needs in Ospreay against Moxley. Saturday’s work was more about strengthening everything underneath it, and Andrade-PAC immediately gives the middle of the card another match capable of standing on its own.

CMLL provided the other side of Saturday’s wrestling landscape. While AEW was finishing its All Out construction, Arena México was celebrating 93 years with one of lucha libre’s oldest stipulations and one of its biggest stars standing tall.
