Chairshot Wrestling News Report (9/27/2026): AEW All Out, Borden Hospitalized, Ospreay Survives & Bucks Take Gold
Steven Borden is hospitalized after a scary All Out injury, Will Ospreay survives Jon Moxley and the Young Bucks regain AEW tag gold.
Steven Borden is hospitalized after a scary All Out injury, Will Ospreay survives Jon Moxley and the Young Bucks regain AEW tag gold.
AEW All Out ended with Will Ospreay still holding the World Championship, but the most important update from Saturday night had nothing to do with a title.
Steven Borden was transported to a hospital after his match was stopped following a frightening landing, with AEW later announcing that Borden was conscious, responsive and speaking with doctors. Elsewhere on a loaded night in Chicago, Ospreay finally defeated Jon Moxley in a dramatic main event, the Young Bucks became four-time AEW World Tag Team Champions and Dani Luna officially arrived in AEW.
WWE and AAA also taped Worlds Collide across town, where La Catalina retained the Reina de Reinas Championship against Roxanne Perez and Oba Femi had a confrontation with Omos that could become considerably more important than a one-night crossover moment.
It’s the Chairshot Wrestling News Report for September 27, 2026!
Steven Borden Hospitalized After All Out Match Is Stopped
Steven Borden was taken to a hospital for evaluation after his match alongside Darby Allin against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight was stopped by AEW medical personnel. Borden and Knight jumped from opposite turnbuckles and collided in midair, with Borden landing hard and remaining down as the referee and medical team immediately checked on him. The match was called rather than continuing around him.
AEW provided multiple updates during the pay-per-view, eventually announcing that Borden was conscious and responsive at the hospital. Tony Schiavone later told the audience that Borden was speaking with doctors about the match and had undergone a CAT scan, while AEW confirmed he had been transported for further evaluation.
There is no reason to speculate beyond that information. The encouraging part is that Borden was conscious and communicating after an incident serious enough for the medical team to stop the match immediately, and the decision to abandon the planned finish was clearly the only appropriate one.
The timing is particularly unfortunate because Borden’s wrestling career was only beginning to gain momentum. He had been working alongside Darby in recent weeks after training for the transition from football into professional wrestling, and Saturday represented easily the largest match of his young career.
Will Ospreay Finally Beats Jon Moxley
Will Ospreay retained the AEW World Championship by defeating Jon Moxley in a 33-minute All Out main event that eventually involved members of the Death Riders, United Empire and several other wrestlers connected to the two men. Ospreay survived multiple Paradigm Shifts, a Death Rider and the Bulldog Choke before eventually hitting a Storm Breaker and two Hidden Blades to put Moxley away.
The closing moments were considerably more restrained than everything that came before them. Moxley picked up the championship after the match, handed it to Ospreay and offered his hand, with Ospreay accepting before Moxley left the ring.
That final exchange was important because the entire program was built around Ospreay proving that he had grown beyond needing Moxley’s approval. Moxley could test him, hurt him and force him into the kind of fight he wanted, but Ospreay ultimately needed to beat him.
AEW has now given Ospreay two major accomplishments in consecutive pay-per-view main events. Winning the championship at Wembley established him as the company’s top champion, but beating Moxley provides the kind of first successful defense that makes the title reign feel established rather than ceremonial.
AEW All Out Results — September 26, 2026
All Out featured nine matches on the main pay-per-view along with two matches on the televised Tailgate Brawl. Ospreay retained the AEW World Championship, the Young Bucks captured the World Tag Team Championship and every other champion successfully defended.
AEW Tailgate Brawl
- Jack Perry defeated Katsuyori Shibata
- Bang Bang Gang defeated David Finlay, Clark Connors, Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia
AEW All Out
- AEW National Championship – Andrade El Idolo defeated PAC
- Kyle Fletcher & Kevin Knight defeated Darby Allin & Steven Borden via medical stoppage
- TBS Championship – Persephone defeated Dani Luna
- AEW International Championship – Kazuchika Okada defeated Tommaso Ciampa
- AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Chicago Street Fight – The Brawling Birds defeated Divine Dominion
- AEW World Trios Championship – Swerve Strickland & The New Level defeated Hangman Page & Brodido
- Thekla defeated Willow Nightingale
- AEW World Tag Team Championship Ladder Match – The Young Bucks defeated Adam Copeland & Christian Cage and FTR to win the titles
- AEW World Championship – Will Ospreay defeated Jon Moxley
The show produced only one championship change, but several of the non-title results created immediate directions for AEW. Thekla’s victory earned her another shot at Mercedes Moné, while Fletcher and Knight became No. 1 contenders to the tag titles through the medical stoppage of their match with Darby and Borden.
The lack of widespread title changes did not make All Out static. Ospreay beating Moxley, the Bucks returning to the top of the tag division and Dani Luna arriving all give AEW meaningful material coming out of Chicago even before considering what happens next with Steven Borden.
Young Bucks Become Four-Time AEW Tag Team Champions
Matt and Nick Jackson regained the AEW World Tag Team Championship by defeating Adam Copeland and Christian Cage and FTR in the three-way Ladder Match. The Bucks eventually isolated Christian near the top of the ladders, hit the BTE Trigger and pulled down the championships to end Cage and Copeland’s reign.
That makes the Young Bucks four-time AEW World Tag Team Champions and puts them back at the center of a division that has changed considerably around them. FTR remains involved, Copeland and Christian have now lost the titles without being pinned, and Fletcher and Knight technically left All Out as the next challengers.
The interesting part will be whether AEW uses another Bucks championship reign to revisit familiar rivalries or as a bridge toward its newer teams. The division has enough established history that another Bucks-FTR program is always available, but the roster also has enough depth now that simply repeating the classics should not be necessary.
Dani Luna Debuts, Challenges Persephone and Officially Signs With AEW
Dani Luna was revealed as the answer to Persephone’s TBS Championship open challenge, making her AEW debut only one day after reports indicated she had signed with the company. Persephone retained after Britt Baker prevented Luna from completing a German suplex from the apron, allowing the champion to hit a crucifix bomb for the victory.
The contract speculation ended after the match when Tony Khan officially announced that Luna was All Elite. Luna had previously competed for TNA before leaving the promotion earlier this year, and reports had connected her to AEW before Saturday’s surprise appearance.
Losing the debut is not necessarily damaging when the first assignment is an unadvertised championship match. Luna immediately entered AEW television opposite a champion, received a competitive pay-per-view match and left with confirmation that she is part of the roster.
The next step matters more. AEW’s women’s division has accumulated enough talent that simply signing wrestlers is no longer noteworthy by itself, so Luna needs a defined television role once the surprise of her arrival wears off.
Thekla Earns Another Shot at Mercedes Moné
Thekla defeated Willow Nightingale to become the next challenger for Mercedes Moné’s AEW Women’s World Championship. Julia Hart and Skye Blue became involved late, but an attempted belt shot from Hart accidentally caught Thekla before Thekla recovered and eventually stomped Willow to secure the victory.
Moné appeared after the match, with AEW confirming that the championship match will take place at WrestleDream on October 17. That gives Thekla another opportunity against the woman who defeated her at All In, but this time Moné enters as champion.
The rematch works considerably better with something tangible attached to it. Their previous match established that Thekla could operate at that level, while Saturday’s win over Willow gives AEW an actual reason to return to the matchup rather than simply booking it again.
WWE x AAA Worlds Collide Results — September 26, 2026
WWE and AAA taped Worlds Collide Saturday at Allstate Arena in Chicago, with the event scheduled to stream Wednesday, September 30. Because the matches have not yet aired, the following section contains complete Worlds Collide spoilers.
- Mr. Iguana, La Parka, Adelicious & Mascarita Sagrada defeated The Vanity Project & Mini Abismo Negro
- Dragon Lee defeated Jack Cartwheel
- Fatal Influence defeated Las Toxicas
- AAA World Cruiserweight Championship No. 1 Contender Match – Mini Vikingo defeated Axiom, Je’Von Evans & E.K. Prosper
- AAA Reina de Reinas Championship – La Catalina defeated Roxanne Perez
- Lucha Brothers defeated Los Perros del Mal via disqualification after interference from Angel & Karmen Petrovic
- CM Punk, Rey Mysterio & El Grande Americano defeated Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh & Omos
Oba Femi confronted Omos following the main event and clotheslined him over the top rope.
The results preserve Catalina’s championship reign after WWE spent several weeks making Roxanne a credible threat through Raw and NXT. Catalina had already lost around Roxanne without being pinned in their Money in the Bank qualifier, so giving her the direct singles victory prevents the crossover champion from becoming secondary in her own title program.
Oba Femi and Omos Come Face-to-Face
Oba Femi appeared following the Worlds Collide main event and confronted Omos, eventually clotheslining the giant over the top rope. Omos had just teamed with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh in a loss to CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano.
WWE advertised Oba for a special appearance without explaining what that appearance would involve, and putting him directly opposite Omos gives the company a matchup that requires almost no explanation. They are two of the most physically imposing wrestlers connected to WWE, and simply placing them face-to-face establishes the attraction.
Whether WWE intends to move immediately toward the match remains to be seen. The confrontation could easily serve as a seed for something later, but it was prominent enough that Oba’s appearance clearly was not designed as a ceremonial crossover cameo.
CM Punk Brings Back “This Fire Burns” in Chicago
CM Punk added a heavy dose of nostalgia to Worlds Collide by entering to Killswitch Engage’s “This Fire Burns,” his WWE entrance theme from his original run before adopting “Cult of Personality.” Punk had teased the possibility before the show and followed through in the same building that hosted his famous 2011 Money in the Bank match with John Cena.
Punk then teamed with Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano to defeat Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and Omos in the main event. The appearance came one night after Punk qualified for Money in the Bank on SmackDown, making it a busy weekend for someone who now has a much more important opportunity waiting in New Orleans.
The throwback entrance was easy nostalgia without requiring WWE to build an entire story around Punk’s past. It fit the Chicago setting, gave Worlds Collide something unique and then allowed Punk to return immediately to his current direction.
Joseph Sawyer Suffers Knee Scare at GCW Score
Joseph Sawyer suffered an apparent knee injury Saturday while defending the GCW Championship against John Jeffrey at GCW Score. Sawyer was caught by a cannonball in the corner, immediately left the ring and was unable to finish the match after trying to regain feeling in the knee.
Sawyer initially told the audience that he could be out for months, but later posted a more encouraging update saying the injury did not appear likely to sideline him for an extended period. He had already wrestled once earlier in the night, successfully defending the GCW Championship against Jazzy Yang.
The timing makes the situation particularly relevant to TNA because Sawyer debuted there Thursday alongside Samuel Shaw as Syx and immediately entered a program with The Hardys. Until there is a medical diagnosis, there is no reason to assume that program has to change, but his ability to wrestle next week is now something worth watching.
Saturday was one of the busiest wrestling days of the year, but the immediate focus coming out of it should remain on Steven Borden’s condition.
Beyond that, AEW leaves Chicago with Ospreay more firmly established as World Champion, the Young Bucks back on top of the tag division and another significant addition to the women’s roster. WWE and AAA, meanwhile, produced a Worlds Collide event that kept La Catalina strong and may have quietly created one of the easiest spectacle matches available to WWE in Oba Femi against Omos.
There will be plenty of fallout to sort through this week. The encouraging update on Borden is the one that matters most tonight.
