Alexa Bliss Tatum Paxley Win WWE Women's Tag Team Championships

Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley win WWE gold, Roman Reigns opens Money in the Bank, and Max Caster heads to TNA Bound For Glory.

Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and neither woman was originally supposed to be part of that championship combination Friday night.

Jade Cargill attacked Charlotte Flair before her scheduled title opportunity, forcing Alexa Bliss to step in alongside Paxley. The unexpected partnership defeated Fatal Influence to capture the championships, providing the biggest surprise on SmackDown’s final episode before Money in the Bank.

Elsewhere, The Vision destroyed several Money in the Bank participants, Sami Zayn delivered a warning to CM Punk and Kevin Owens, and WWE confirmed that Roman Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight in Saturday’s opening match. TNA also made two significant Bound For Glory announcements, confirming Max Caster’s debut against Moose and revealing Mickie James as the special guest referee for the Knockouts World Championship match.

It’s the Chairshot Wrestling News Report for October 10, 2026!

Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley Win WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Friday, defeating Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid after an unexpected change to the originally scheduled match.

Charlotte Flair was supposed to team with Paxley against Fatal Influence, but Jade Cargill attacked Flair backstage before the championship match. The assault forced SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to reconsider the situation, initially leaving the match in jeopardy.

Flair insisted that Bliss take her place, allowing Paxley to receive the opportunity she had already earned. Aldis approved the substitution and barred everyone from ringside, preventing Fatal Influence and Cargill’s associates from interfering.

The challengers capitalized on the opportunity despite having little time to prepare together. Bliss neutralized Lainey Reid with Sister Abigail before Paxley connected with Cemetery Drive on Fallon Henley to score the deciding fall.

The victory gives Paxley her first championship since arriving on SmackDown and establishes an unexpected partnership with one of WWE’s most recognizable women’s division veterans. Bliss has considerable championship experience, but winning alongside Paxley creates a different dynamic from her established relationship with Flair.

Fatal Influence’s loss also changes the balance of power within the faction. Henley and Reid entered Friday holding the Women’s Tag Team Championship while Jacy Jayne carried the Women’s United States Championship, giving the group multiple titles across the division.

Jayne is now the faction’s only champion, and she enters Saturday’s Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match with an opportunity to restore some of the momentum Fatal Influence lost Friday.

The bigger question involves Charlotte’s relationship with Bliss and Paxley. Flair encouraged the substitution, but the championship victory means her two allies now hold the titles she had been attempting to win herself.

WWE has several directions available without immediately creating tension between the three women. Cargill remains a common enemy, and Friday’s attack gives Charlotte another reason to pursue her while Bliss and Paxley begin their championship reign.

WWE SmackDown Results — October 9, 2026

Friday’s SmackDown from the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, served as WWE’s final television event before Money in the Bank. The show featured a championship change, two matches involving Money in the Bank participants and several confrontations that carried directly into Saturday’s premium live event.

  • Lash Legend, Tiffany Stratton & Jacy Jayne def. Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca & Lola Vice
  • WWE Tag Team Champions The MFTs def. The War Raiders in a non-title match
  • Gunther vs. Danhausen ended in a no contest
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley def. Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid (c) to win the titles
  • Trick Williams def. Bron Breakker via disqualification

The women’s six-person tag gave Lash Legend another opportunity to establish herself before Saturday’s Ladder Match. Legend secured the victory with the Lash Extension on Sol Ruca, then attacked her own partners, Tiffany Stratton and Jacy Jayne, after the match.

The MFTs also continued their rivalry with Bakusai during their victory over The War Raiders. Haku struck Erik with his walking stick while the referee was distracted, allowing Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga to secure the win before Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki became involved in another post-match confrontation.

Gunther’s scheduled match against Danhausen deteriorated when Finn Bálor intervened, preventing Gunther from continuing his assault. Bálor paid for the interference when Gunther turned his attention toward him, continuing a rivalry that has already involved several physical confrontations.

The evening ended with Trick Williams officially defeating Bron Breakker by disqualification, but The Vision made sure the United States Champion had little opportunity to celebrate.

The Vision Destroys Trick Williams, Penta and Je’Von Evans

Bron Breakker enters Money in the Bank with considerable momentum after The Vision overwhelmed Trick Williams, Penta and Je’Von Evans during Friday’s SmackDown main event.

Breakker faced United States Champion Trick Williams in a match arranged after the two confronted one another backstage. Both men are participating in Saturday’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, making the encounter an opportunity to gain an advantage before competing against four additional opponents.

The match featured several impressive exchanges, with Williams and Breakker repeatedly countering one another’s power offense. Trick eventually connected with the Trick Shot, but The Vision interfered before the match could reach a decisive conclusion.

Je’Von Evans attempted to help Williams, bringing Austin Theory into the confrontation. Penta also entered the fight, but Bronson Reed attacked him before joining Breakker and Theory in dismantling the opposition.

The closing moments left Williams, Evans and Penta laid out while The Vision stood tall. Breakker delivered another Spear to Trick before Reed followed with a Tsunami, providing WWE with a particularly emphatic final image before Saturday.

The segment also reinforced an important advantage Breakker carries into the Ladder Match. While the other participants may have allies elsewhere, Breakker belongs to an established faction willing to interfere on his behalf.

That does not guarantee The Vision can control a six-man Ladder Match, particularly with several competitors capable of exploiting the chaos. However, the faction’s recent involvement makes Breakker an obvious threat even when he is not physically dominating the action himself.

Reed also benefits from the confrontation because he faces Oba Femi in a separate match Saturday. His involvement Friday allowed WWE to reinforce The Vision’s collective strength without requiring another direct confrontation between the two powerhouses.

For Evans and Penta, the situation is considerably more complicated. They have repeatedly found themselves fighting the same opponents, but Saturday requires them to compete against one another for the briefcase.

Sami Zayn Warns CM Punk and Kevin Owens Before Money in the Bank

Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn delivered a pointed message to CM Punk and Kevin Owens Friday, reminding both men that winning Money in the Bank does not automatically mean they will become champion.

Punk opened the segment surrounded by ladders, discussing his history with Money in the Bank and his desire to win the briefcase for a third time. The former champion sees Saturday as an opportunity to regain control of his championship future after losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Zayn.

Owens interrupted and made clear that he also intends to win the contract, particularly because it would give him another opportunity to challenge his longtime rival.

Zayn eventually joined the confrontation, with all three men delivering their arguments while standing on ladders. The champion questioned whether Punk and Owens were approaching the match with the proper priorities, suggesting their obsession with one another could prevent either from winning.

The segment worked because Zayn has a legitimate reason to be concerned about both men. Punk wants to regain the championship he previously held, while Owens has years of personal history with Zayn that make a potential cash-in considerably more complicated.

Zayn also enters Saturday in an unusual position. He is the Undisputed WWE Champion, but he does not have a scheduled championship defense at Money in the Bank.

That means his immediate concern is not surviving a match but discovering whether one of his most dangerous rivals will leave New Orleans holding a contract that could be used against him at any time.

Punk and Owens are not the only possibilities, either. Breakker, Penta, Evans and Trick Williams all have legitimate reasons to pursue a world championship, and none would be required to target Roman Reigns simply because his title match is also on Saturday’s card.

The winner will control an important part of WWE’s championship picture for the next year, while Zayn will have to prepare for the possibility that someone can challenge him without warning.

Roman Reigns and LA Knight Will Open Money in the Bank

WWE confirmed Friday that Roman Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight in the opening match of Money in the Bank.

The announcement represents a significant departure from the usual placement of a major Roman Reigns championship defense. Rather than closing the event, Reigns and Knight will establish the tone for Saturday’s show before either Money in the Bank contract has been awarded. (Of note, Roman has opened events before, it’s just more rare.)

That positioning also changes the possibilities surrounding a potential same-night cash-in. The men’s briefcase winner cannot simply wait until Reigns has completed a difficult main event and then immediately challenge an exhausted champion.

A cash-in later in the evening remains possible, but the opening-match placement makes that particular scenario considerably less straightforward.

Knight enters the match still pursuing his first WWE World Championship after multiple previous opportunities against Reigns and other champions. He has spent much of the build arguing that Roman’s position within WWE has provided advantages unavailable to wrestlers who have had to fight for every opportunity.

Reigns has responded by pointing toward his accomplishments and questioning whether Knight has demonstrated that he belongs at the same level.

The champion also has the ongoing Bloodline conflict with 946 waiting beyond Saturday. Solo Sikoa returned Monday, and The Usos are preparing to face Royce Keys, Bronco Nima and Lucien Price in a six-man tag next week.

That situation creates a potential distraction, but WWE has largely kept Reigns’ championship defense separate from the family rivalry during the final week.

Opening Money in the Bank places additional pressure on both men to deliver a decisive performance. Knight has an opportunity to achieve the biggest victory of his WWE career, while Reigns can reinforce his position as champion before the rest of the roster begins fighting over the next championship contract.

Cody Rhodes Demands Randy Orton Face Him

Cody Rhodes continued pursuing Randy Orton Friday, making clear that he has no intention of allowing their rivalry to disappear simply because Orton was absent from SmackDown.

Orton informed Nick Aldis that he was leaving the building, blaming Rhodes for their ongoing problems. His departure came before Cody could confront him, forcing the former Undisputed WWE Champion to address the situation without his rival standing across the ring.

Cody eventually interrupted The Miz and Kit Wilson, laying out both men before turning his attention toward Aldis. He demanded an opportunity to confront Orton and made clear that he was willing to travel wherever necessary to make the encounter happen.

The confrontation continued a rivalry that intensified when Orton interfered in Cody’s Money in the Bank qualifying match last week. That interference allowed Kevin Owens to qualify, leaving Rhodes without a place in Saturday’s Ladder Match.

The situation also follows Orton’s victory over Cody at Sunday Night’s Main Event in September, where their rivalry became increasingly personal.

Friday’s segment did not establish another match between the two, but it made clear that WWE intends to continue the program beyond Money in the Bank.

That gives Cody a significant story to pursue even without appearing on Saturday’s card. Orton has already prevented him from securing a championship opportunity, and Rhodes now appears more interested in settling their personal conflict than immediately returning to the title picture.

Max Caster Answers Moose’s Bound For Glory Challenge

Max Caster will make his TNA debut Sunday at Bound For Glory after accepting Moose’s open challenge.

Caster announced his decision Friday through a rap video directed at Moose, continuing the outspoken personality he developed during his time with AEW. TNA subsequently confirmed that the former AEW World Tag Team Champion will face Moose at the Yuengling Center in Tampa.

The announcement comes shortly after Caster became a free agent following the expiration of his AEW contract at the beginning of October.

Caster had not competed on AEW television since December 2025, although he remained active on the independent scene. His departure from AEW created questions about his next destination, particularly after the end of his longtime partnership with Anthony Bowens in The Acclaimed.

TNA now becomes the first major promotion to feature Caster following that departure, and the company has given him a substantial opponent for his debut.

Moose issued the challenge during Thursday’s Impact, declaring that he wanted to prove his standing as one of TNA’s most important performers. Caster responding with a rap video provides an immediate contrast between the two personalities.

The matchup also presents a significant physical challenge for Caster. Moose possesses a considerable size and power advantage, while Caster has built much of his reputation around his personality, tag team experience and ability to frustrate opponents.

Sunday will provide an opportunity to see how Caster approaches a singles match against one of TNA’s most established stars.

There is no confirmation that Caster has signed a long-term agreement with TNA. His appearance could represent the beginning of an extended run or a special attraction for Bound For Glory, and the company has not publicly clarified the arrangement.

Regardless of his contractual status, Caster’s arrival gives TNA another recognizable name during its biggest weekend of the year.

Mickie James Named Special Guest Referee for Knockouts Championship

Mickie James will serve as the special guest referee for Sunday’s TNA Knockouts World Championship match between Xia Brookside and Indi Hartwell.

TNA President Carlos Silva announced the decision Friday, resolving the mystery surrounding James’ previously advertised appearance at Bound For Glory.

The appointment comes after several weeks of problems involving TNA’s authority figures, particularly Daria Rae’s attempts to influence Hartwell’s championship pursuit.

Rae previously opposed Hartwell receiving another opportunity against Brookside, arguing that championship matches should be earned rather than granted. The situation became increasingly complicated after Rae’s former WWE associate Zoey Serrano arrived in TNA and attacked Hartwell.

Santino Marella eventually brought evidence of Rae’s behavior to TNA’s board of directors, resulting in her suspension.

Silva’s decision to appoint James provides the championship match with an experienced official who has considerable history within the Knockouts division.

James is a former Knockouts World Champion and TNA Hall of Famer whose relationship with the promotion extends back to its formative years. She also has history with both competitors, having previously helped Hartwell and Brookside during their conflicts with The Elegance Brand.

That connection gives the appointment additional significance because James is not entering the match without knowledge of the personalities involved.

Brookside has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to use questionable tactics to retain her championship, while Hartwell believes she has been denied opportunities through outside interference and backstage politics.

James’ presence should theoretically reduce the possibility of another controversial finish, although special guest referees have historically created their own complications in professional wrestling.

For Hartwell, the match represents another opportunity to accomplish something she failed to achieve at last year’s Bound For Glory. Brookside, meanwhile, has an opportunity to reinforce her championship reign by defeating a challenger who has spent months pursuing her.

WWE Money in the Bank Preview — October 10, 2026

WWE presents Money in the Bank tonight from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, with five confirmed matches and two championship contracts available.

The event begins at 6 PM ET, with the Countdown show scheduled for 4 PM ET. Money in the Bank will stream through the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan in the United States and Netflix internationally.

  • World Heavyweight Championship – Roman Reigns (c) vs. LA Knight
  • Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match – CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bron Breakker vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Trick Williams vs. Penta
  • Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match – Jacy Jayne vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Lash Legend vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice
  • Women’s World Championship – Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan
  • Oba Femi vs. Bronson Reed

Roman Reigns and LA Knight will open the show, immediately establishing whether the World Heavyweight Championship remains with Reigns or moves to Knight before either Ladder Match begins.

The men’s Money in the Bank field features a particularly interesting combination of established stars and wrestlers attempting to reach the next level. Punk and Owens have considerable experience in high-profile WWE matches, while Breakker, Evans, Trick and Penta represent different approaches to pursuing a world championship.

Breakker enters with momentum after The Vision’s dominant closing segment on SmackDown, but the presence of five other competitors makes controlling the match considerably more difficult than controlling a traditional singles contest.

The women’s Ladder Match also contains several legitimate possibilities. Tiffany Stratton has already experienced the benefits of holding the briefcase, while Jacy Jayne enters as Women’s United States Champion and Roxanne Perez has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes.

Lash Legend’s performance Friday provides another important development. She secured the victory for her team before attacking her own partners, reinforcing that alliances between Money in the Bank competitors are unlikely to survive once the briefcase becomes available.

Stephanie Vaquer faces a different challenge after demanding both Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan in a Triple Threat Match. The champion willingly placed herself in a situation where she does not have to be pinned to lose the championship, making her confidence an important part of the story.

Becky and Liv also have unresolved issues with one another, creating the possibility that their rivalry could become just as important as their attempts to defeat Vaquer.

Oba Femi and Bronson Reed complete the announced card with their first singles encounter. Their rivalry has become increasingly physical since Reed returned, and Saturday provides an opportunity for both men to establish which powerhouse holds the advantage.

The results of Money in the Bank could significantly change WWE’s direction heading toward Crown Jewel and Survivor Series. Two wrestlers will leave New Orleans with championship opportunities they can exercise during the following year, while the World Heavyweight and Women’s World Championships could also change hands.

AEW Collision Grand Slam France Preview — October 10, 2026

AEW presents the second half of Grand Slam France tonight with a special episode of Collision from Adidas Arena in Paris.

The episode was recorded Tuesday following Dynamite, but AEW has kept the results off television until Saturday. The advertised lineup features two championship defenses, another Clockwork Carnage qualifier and several matches with implications for WrestleDream on October 17.

  • AEW World Tag Team Championship – The Young Bucks (c) vs. The Dogs
  • AEW National Championship – Andrade El Ídolo (c) vs. Michael Oku
  • Clockwork Carnage Qualifier – Mike Bailey vs. Lee Moriarty
  • Chris Jericho vs. Nick Wayne
  • Swerve Strickland vs. Carlie Bravo
  • Eight-Person Mixed Tag Team Match – The Death Riders vs. The Conglomeration
  • Eight-Woman Tag Team Match – The Brawling Birds, Kris Statlander & Harley Cameron vs. Sisters of Sin & Divine Dominion

The Young Bucks’ championship defense against David Finlay and Clark Connors carries immediate consequences for WrestleDream. Matt and Nick Jackson are scheduled to defend against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at the pay-per-view if they retain Saturday.

That makes The Dogs more than a routine television challenger. Finlay and Connors have an opportunity to disrupt a championship program that already has another team waiting for the winners.

Andrade also faces an interesting challenge against Michael Oku, whose reputation on the British independent scene has made him one of the more recognizable international opponents available for AEW’s European events.

The Clockwork Carnage qualifier between Bailey and Moriarty is particularly important because Samoa Joe has already secured his place in the eight-man World Championship match. The winner joins Joe and defending champion Will Ospreay in a match that combines elimination rules with a timed scoring period.

Jericho and Wayne continue their rivalry in singles competition, while Swerve’s match against Carlie Bravo gives the AEW World Trios Champion another opportunity to build momentum before his championship defense at WrestleDream.

Collision begins at 8 PM ET on TNT and HBO Max, running opposite the later portion of WWE Money in the Bank.

TNA Bound For Glory Updated Card — October 11, 2026

TNA presents Bound For Glory Sunday from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, with several championship matches and two significant additions confirmed Friday.

The Hall of Fame ceremony begins at 4 PM ET, followed by the pay-per-view at 4:30 PM ET.

  • TNA World Championship – Nic Nemeth (c) vs. Leon Slater
  • TNA Knockouts World Championship – Xia Brookside (c) vs. Indi Hartwell, with Mickie James as special guest referee
  • TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship – Allie & Kiera Hogan (c) vs. Zoey Serrano & Shayna Baszler
  • TNA International Championship – Mustafa Ali (c) vs. Jason Hotch vs. John Skyler vs. Special Agent Zero
  • TNA X-Division Championship – BDE vs. Rich Swann vs. KC Navarro vs. Fabian Aichner vs. Cedric Alexander vs. Ryan Nemeth
  • No Disqualification Falls Count Anywhere Match – The Hardys vs. syX
  • Moose vs. Max Caster
  • Ricky Sosa vs. Eddie Edwards
  • Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match

The World Championship match remains the centerpiece of Bound For Glory. Leon Slater surrendered the X-Division Championship through Option C to challenge Nic Nemeth, creating an opportunity to become the youngest TNA World Champion in company history.

Nemeth enters the match after successfully defending the World Tag Team Championship alongside Ryan Nemeth on Thursday’s Impact. The brothers retained against The Hardys following another appearance by syX, preserving their championship reign before Sunday’s event.

The Knockouts division now has two particularly interesting championship matches. Hartwell must defeat Brookside with Mickie James officiating, while Allie and Hogan face the newly reunited combination of Serrano and Baszler.

The International Championship match also brings the internal problems of Order 4 directly into the ring. Mustafa Ali must defend against three former associates, creating a situation where the champion’s familiarity with his challengers may be both an advantage and a liability.

The vacant X-Division Championship will be decided in a six-way match featuring several different wrestling styles. Fabian Aichner enters with momentum after defeating KC Navarro on Impact, but neither man has the luxury of focusing on only one opponent Sunday.

The Call Your Shot Gauntlet offers another potential championship opportunity. Joe Alonzo earned the final entry position during Thursday’s eight-man tag, while Trey Miguel must begin the match at No. 1.

Avery Styles is also scheduled to make his official TNA in-ring debut during the Gauntlet, providing another significant moment for a company closely connected to his father’s early career.

Friday’s confirmation of Caster against Moose gives the event another recognizable attraction, while the Hall of Fame ceremony will honor ODB, Amazing Red and Konnan for their contributions to TNA history.

CMLL Finalizes International Field for Women’s Grand Prix

CMLL has finalized the international lineup for its 2026 Grand Prix de Amazonas, adding several recognizable names from AEW and other promotions to the October 23 event at Arena México.

Queen Aminata, Megan Bayne and Harley Cameron will represent AEW as part of the international team. Their participation adds three wrestlers with very different styles to a field already featuring competitors from Japan, the United States, Canada and Europe.

The international lineup also includes Stardom representatives AZM, Miyu Amasaki, Momo Watanabe and Mei Seira, along with MLW’s Shotzi and Masha Slamovich.

Alice Crowley will represent Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, while Emersyn Jayne joins the international team from RevPro.

The Mexican team features several established CMLL competitors, including Lluvia, Persephone, Skadi, Olympia, India Sioux, Zeuxis, Kira, Keyra and La Jarochita.

Thunder Rosa and Tessa Blanchard will also represent the CMLL side, reflecting their established relationships with the promotion despite their international backgrounds.

The Grand Prix uses a torneo cibernético format, bringing together representatives from different promotions in a large elimination match. The structure allows CMLL to showcase multiple international competitors without requiring separate singles programs for every participant.

The inclusion of Bayne, Cameron and Aminata also reinforces AEW’s continuing relationship with CMLL. The companies have regularly exchanged talent, but the Grand Prix gives several women who primarily appear on American television an opportunity to compete in one of Mexico’s most historic wrestling venues.

For CMLL, the event represents another opportunity to position its women’s division as a major attraction. The promotion has continued expanding the visibility of its Amazonas roster, and bringing together talent from several international organizations gives the Grand Prix additional significance beyond the tournament itself.

The 2026 Grand Prix de Amazonas takes place Friday, October 23, at Arena México.

Friday delivered a significant championship change on SmackDown, with Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley taking advantage of an unexpected opportunity to defeat Fatal Influence. The Vision also made a strong statement before Money in the Bank, leaving several Ladder Match participants laid out as WWE completed its final television build.

TNA added Max Caster to Bound For Glory and confirmed Mickie James as the special guest referee for the Knockouts World Championship match, giving Sunday’s event two more important developments.

Saturday now brings WWE Money in the Bank and AEW Collision Grand Slam France, followed by TNA Bound For Glory on Sunday. With championship matches, potential surprises and two Money in the Bank contracts available, the weekend could significantly reshape the direction of several major promotions heading into the final months of 2026.
