Adam Copeland announces his final wrestling year, AEW completes its WrestleDream main event, and Shotzi reportedly signs with TNA.
Adam Copeland announces his final wrestling year, AEW completes its WrestleDream main event, and Shotzi reportedly signs with TNA.
Adam Copeland has revealed that 2027 will be his final year in professional wrestling, adding considerable significance to his pursuit of the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream. The announcement came Wednesday during AEW’s extended Dynamite and Collision broadcast, which also finalized the eight-man Clockwork Carnage field for Saturday’s pay-per-view.
All five qualifying matches produced winners, with Copeland, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet and Darby Allin joining Will Ospreay, Samoa Joe and Mike Bailey. Both Okada and Allin successfully defended their championships in the process, while the Don Callis Family continued creating problems for several of its WrestleDream opponents.
Elsewhere, FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns established a new rivalry, and reports indicate that Shotzi has left MLW and signed with TNA ahead of the company’s first Impact following Bound For Glory.
It’s the Chairshot Wrestling News Report for October 15, 2026!
Adam Copeland Announces 2027 Will Be His Final Year in Wrestling
Adam Copeland delivered one of Wednesday’s biggest developments after defeating Josh Alexander to qualify for Clockwork Carnage, announcing that he intends to retire from professional wrestling in 2027.
The announcement followed his first AEW match since All Out, where Copeland and Christian Cage competed in a TLC Match. Copeland discussed the physical consequences of that encounter, revealing that Christian suffered three broken ribs and a collapsed lung during the match but continued competing.
Copeland explained that the experience forced him to reconsider how much longer he could continue wrestling. At 52, he recognizes that his career is approaching its conclusion, and he wants to pursue the AEW World Championship before stepping away.
His victory over Alexander demonstrated that he remains capable of competing against established opponents. Alexander repeatedly targeted Copeland’s previously injured leg, but Copeland survived the attack and eventually connected with a Spear to secure his place in Saturday’s championship match.
The celebration did not last. Don Callis interrupted Copeland’s announcement before members of his faction attacked the veteran, prompting Konosuke Takeshita and The Conglomeration to intervene.
The confrontation creates an immediate complication because Copeland and Takeshita will both compete in Clockwork Carnage. They may have shared enemies Wednesday, but only one wrestler can leave WrestleDream holding the AEW World Championship.
Copeland’s announcement also gives AEW a potentially important story extending through 2027. He did not announce a specific retirement match or date, leaving considerable flexibility in how his final year develops.
For now, his immediate objective remains Saturday’s championship opportunity. Winning would give Copeland another major accomplishment before retirement, while falling short would leave him searching for another path to the title during the final stretch of his career.
AEW Dynamite & Collision Results — October 14, 2026
AEW presented a combined Dynamite and Collision broadcast from the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio, featuring nine matches, five Clockwork Carnage qualifiers and two championship defenses.
- Don Callis Family (Wardlow, Mark Davis & Jake Doyle) def. Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia & Gabe Kidd)
- Clockwork Carnage Qualifier – Adam Copeland def. Josh Alexander
- Clockwork Carnage Qualifier – Konosuke Takeshita def. Brian Cage via submission
- AEW International Championship / Clockwork Carnage Qualifier – Kazuchika Okada (c) def. Myron Reed to retain and qualify
- Six-Woman Tag Team Match – Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Skye Blue & Julia Hart) def. Mercedes Moné & Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne & Lena Kross)
- Samoa Joe & Tommaso Ciampa def. Will Ospreay & Andrade El Ídolo via referee stoppage
- Clockwork Carnage Qualifier – Ricochet def. Ace Austin
- Dani Luna & Hyan def. Persephone & Britt Baker
- AEW TNT Championship / Clockwork Carnage Qualifier – Darby Allin (c) def. Hechicero to retain and qualify
The results completed the eight-man field for WrestleDream’s main event without a championship changing hands. Okada and Allin successfully defended their respective titles, while Copeland, Takeshita and Ricochet secured their opportunities through non-title qualifying matches.
The broadcast also established a new program involving FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns, while the Don Callis Family’s victory over the Death Riders gave Mark Davis additional momentum heading into his Continental Championship match against Jon Moxley.
The evening’s biggest consequence remains the completed Clockwork Carnage lineup, although Copeland’s retirement announcement and the developing tag team rivalry provide AEW with stories extending beyond Saturday’s pay-per-view.
Clockwork Carnage Field Finalized for WrestleDream
AEW has finalized the eight competitors who will participate in the inaugural Clockwork Carnage Match for the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream.
Defending champion Will Ospreay will face Samoa Joe, Mike Bailey, Adam Copeland, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet and Darby Allin in a match featuring staggered entrances, an elimination phase and a timed scoring period.
Wednesday’s qualifying matches established a particularly dangerous field because several entrants already hold championships or have extensive world championship experience.
Okada defeated Myron Reed with the Rainmaker to retain the International Championship, while Allin overcame Hechicero with the Coffin Drop to preserve his TNT Championship reign. Both now enter Saturday with opportunities to become double champions.
Takeshita survived a physical encounter against Brian Cage, eventually forcing a submission with a Dragon Sleeper. Ricochet defeated Ace Austin in another qualifier, adding one of AEW’s most unpredictable aerial competitors to the field.
The completed lineup presents a considerable challenge for Ospreay. He has successfully defended the championship against established opponents, including Okada at Grand Slam France, but Clockwork Carnage requires him to manage seven challengers under a format that does not resemble a traditional championship defense.
The scoring phase is particularly important because surviving the opening eliminations will not necessarily be enough to win. Competitors must also accumulate falls, creating situations where temporary alliances or strategic decisions could become decisive.
Ospreay also has personal connections to several participants, particularly Bailey and Takeshita. Those relationships may influence the early stages, but championship opportunities have a way of testing even established alliances.
With the field complete, AEW can now focus on the question that matters most: whether Ospreay can survive a match designed to give seven different challengers opportunities to take his championship.
FTR and Motor City Machine Guns Establish Best-of-Five Series
FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns appear headed toward an extended rivalry after confronting one another during Wednesday’s Dynamite.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler entered demanding another opportunity at the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Harwood argued that FTR’s history against The Young Bucks justified their position among the division’s leading contenders.
Instead of the Bucks answering, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley interrupted.
The Motor City Machine Guns acknowledged FTR’s accomplishments but argued that they deserved consideration among wrestling’s greatest tag teams. Shelley proposed settling the argument through a best-of-five series, with the first team to earn three victories establishing its superiority.
FTR manager Stokely Hathaway rejected the suggestion that the series begin immediately, instead agreeing to start the rivalry at WrestleDream.
The matchup provides AEW with a strong attraction beyond its championship programs. Both teams have extensive histories built around technical wrestling, coordinated offense and an ability to construct matches that develop through strategy rather than relying entirely on spectacular moves.
A best-of-five format also creates opportunities to tell a more substantial story. Rather than resolving the rivalry through one match, AEW can explore adjustments between encounters and establish how each team responds to victories and defeats.
The Young Bucks remain occupied with Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at WrestleDream, but the FTR–Motor City Machine Guns series could eventually produce another credible championship challenger.
For a division already featuring several established teams, the rivalry provides another reason to follow AEW’s tag team programming after Saturday.
AEW WrestleDream Preview — October 17, 2026
Saturday’s WrestleDream takes place at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida, with Clockwork Carnage headlining an event featuring several championship matches and significant personal rivalries.
The World Championship match remains the biggest attraction, particularly after Copeland’s retirement announcement and Wednesday’s confirmation of the complete field.
Elsewhere, Mercedes Moné is scheduled to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Thekla, while Jon Moxley faces Mark Davis for the Continental Championship. Davis enters with momentum after pinning Moxley during Wednesday’s opening six-man tag.
The Young Bucks defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher, while Andrade El Ídolo faces Tommaso Ciampa for the National Championship.
Swerve Strickland and The New Level are also scheduled to defend the World Trios Championship against Hangman Page, Bandido and Brody King in a Two Out of Three Falls Match.
The women’s tag team division will be represented by the Brawling Birds defending against Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron, who earned their opportunity during Grand Slam France.
Wednesday’s broadcast strengthened several of those programs without changing the fundamental lineup. The challengers now have their final opportunities to prepare, while the champions must decide how to respond to increasingly aggressive opposition.
AEW has concentrated considerable attention on Clockwork Carnage, but the rest of the card provides enough established rivalries to make WrestleDream more than a one-match event.
TNA Impact Preview — October 15, 2026
TNA returns to AMC tonight with its first Impact following Bound For Glory, presenting a special episode celebrating 35 years of The Hardys in professional wrestling.
Matt and Jeff Hardy have been given control of the show’s match selections, allowing them to arrange several unusual encounters while addressing the fallout from their defeat against syX at Bound For Glory.
The announced lineup includes a Tables Match between The Righteous and syX, placing two teams with extensive histories involving The Hardys against one another. The stipulation also gives Matt and Jeff an opportunity to watch their rivals compete under conditions closely associated with their own careers.
The Hardys have arranged another particularly personal match, with Nic Nemeth facing his brother and tag team partner Ryan Nemeth. The brothers have spent considerable time competing together, but Thursday forces them into direct competition.
The Knockouts division will also be featured in a six-woman tag team match. New Knockouts World Champion Indi Hartwell teams with Gabby Forza and Harley Hudson against former champion Xia Brookside and new Knockouts World Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler and Zoey Serrano.
The match continues Hartwell’s rivalry with Brookside while introducing the new tag team champions into TNA’s weekly television programming following their Bound For Glory victory.
Thursday’s episode provides an opportunity to establish several directions following a pay-per-view that produced major championship changes. The Hardys’ temporary authority also creates an unusual setting for addressing their increasingly violent rivalry with syX.
Impact airs tonight on AMC, with the special presentation originating from the Dothan Civic Center in Alabama.
Shotzi Reportedly Leaves MLW, Signs With TNA
Shotzi has reportedly completed her run with Major League Wrestling and signed with TNA, adding another recognizable performer to the company’s Knockouts division.
According to reporting from Fightful Select, subsequently detailed by POST Wrestling, Shotzi finished a six-month agreement with MLW and departed on good terms. She had previously agreed to additional appearances extending into 2027, although her reported TNA agreement could affect those plans.
Shotzi became an important part of MLW’s women’s division after leaving WWE, capturing the promotion’s Women’s Middleweight Championship earlier this year. Her departure follows another recent women’s roster change involving Lady Frost.
The reported move comes as TNA’s Knockouts division enters a new period following Bound For Glory. Indi Hartwell captured the Knockouts World Championship, while Shayna Baszler and Zoey Serrano won the tag team titles.
Shotzi’s arrival would provide another experienced competitor with a distinctive presentation and established television recognition. She previously appeared for Impact Wrestling earlier in her career, making the move a return rather than an entirely new relationship with the promotion.
Neither the duration nor the complete terms of her reported TNA agreement have been publicly established. Her potential involvement nevertheless adds another development worth following as the company begins its post-Bound For Glory programming.
Wednesday’s AEW broadcast completed the WrestleDream main event while introducing another important long-term development through Adam Copeland’s retirement announcement. His final year now has a defined destination, but Saturday provides an immediate opportunity to add another world championship to his career.
Clockwork Carnage also presents Will Ospreay with his most complicated championship defense yet. Seven challengers, multiple existing champions and an unfamiliar match format make the outcome considerably less predictable than a traditional singles encounter.
Thursday turns attention toward TNA, where The Hardys will oversee a special edition of Impact following an eventful Bound For Glory. With several new champions and the reported addition of Shotzi, the promotion has multiple opportunities to establish its next chapter.
This report includes information from: WrestleView, TPWW, Forbes, Wrestling Inc., Cageside Seats, TNA Wrestling and POST Wrestling, including reporting attributed to Fightful Select.
