Top 5: Gimmick Matches That Seemed Good on Paper
2. Barbed Wire Steel Cage

The hardcore version of the traditional cage match, this stipulation, while interesting, takes away the possibility of someone flying off the top of the cage, or even climbing the chain link. In fact, the wire makes the chainmesh lose it’s effect as a weapon. While the “escape via the door” possibility normally hinders cage matches, this match relies on it as it’s the only logical method of escape besides getting chokeslammed through the canvas. If the door was locked, the stipulation could be a nice way to keep dastardly opponents from running away, but until then, we’ll have to settle on minimal usage of the wire.
