Alberto El Patron Thinks He Will Eventually Return To WWE
Since departing the WWE for the second time back in the Fall of 2016, Alberto El Patron (Del Rio) has been no stranger to controversy. His very public relationship with the current SmackDown Live General Manager Paige was filled with fan backlash, reports of abuse and police involvement before the couple finally called it quits.
While Paige remained with the WWE, El Patron went on to work for AAA Lucha Libre, What Culture Pro Wrestling and IMPACT Wrestling among other promotions. However, it looks as if Alberto has his heart set on one final run with the WWE before he retires from the ring for good. Recently, El Patron appeared on The Roman Show and spoke about retirement, replying with the following when asked if there was anybody he would like to face in the squared circle one last time:
“Just off the top of my head the first name that crosses my mind is Rey Mysterio Jr. He’s one of my best friends in the business and in life. Fantastic athlete, fantastic…a real life legend and he would be the person to do a world tour to say goodbye to the pro wrestling business. Of course there’s a lot of names in there, performers that I would love to wrestle again like Dolph Ziggler, Ken Anderson and many, many, many others that are out there still in the business that I would love to work. I have always said I have a good relationship with Vince McMahon, with the owner of the most prestigious company in the world so I’m pretty sure I’ll be back one day before I decide to retire. I will go back there to have a last, final run and maybe I will have the opportunity to work with all those wrestlers that I used to work when I was working for that company and we used to have a lot of fun every single night.”
