9. Taking Over DX

What was obviously one of the worst things to happen to Shawn turned out to be a great opportunity for Triple H. The night after Mania 14 Triple H took over DX with new additions X Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. This version of DX would be involved in many memorable moments during this time such as the WCW invasion and impersonating the Nation of Domination.

It was here that Triple H proved he was more than just Shawn’s lacky. He moved up the card through DX’s feud with the nation which included a great ladder match between him and the Rock.

8. Marrying the Boss’s Daughter

When you talk about life imitating art. What was used a booking device to get Triple H over as heel lead to a real-life relationship between him and Stephanie McMahon. While they started on screen at the end of 1999 they wouldn’t get together until late 2000 early 2001 and married in 2003. Something that has drawn much fan ire is that when they started dating for real it’s believed Triple H was still in a relationship with Chyna.

On screen Triple H began to twist things to suit him because he was with Steph something many believe he would soon start to do in real life.

It can be argued that Triple H would have been a star regardless but the timing of which it happened has caused some doubt.
