EA’s Weekly RAW YouTube Report (9/10/18)
As we all know, social media and other outlets have become a huge means of drawing in interaction and viewers for WWE. Most people will point to television ratings like they did during the Monday Night Wars in the late 1990’s, however that can be skewed with so many various means of watching today that do not include cable television.
As you’ve become accustomed to, here is this week’s RAW YouTube Report (2:30 PM EST, 9/12/18):
- The Shield returns fire against their attackers – 3.3 million views
- Roman Reigns gets his hands on Braun Strowman – 2.5 million views
- *TIE* Baron Corbin forces The Shield to leave/Braun rises from wreckage – 1.6 million views
- *TIE* Ambrose & Rollins consider pressing charges/Alexa & Mickie vs. Ronda & Nattie – 1.3 million
- Mick Foley interrupts Elias – 809k views
- Triple H speaks to The Undertaker – 777k views
While last week’s RAW YouTube Report saw the surprise return of The Undertaker neck-and-neck with The Shield, that’s not the case this week as ‘The Hounds Of Justice’ dominate. Taking the top four spots (with two tied at number three) solidifies the consistency of The Shield and anything they’re involved with to pull big numbers. Despite what a lot of people thought, it’s certainly made Roman Reigns more interesting and I’ve heard a lot less boos from the crowd for the time being. At this point, there’s really no good argument against Reigns being in the spot he’s at too. Not if you #UseYourHead.
The only other clip to top a million views this week is also no surprise, as the Ronda Rousey/Natalya vs. Alexa Bliss/Mickie James match ties for fourth with 1.3 million views. If I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, but it’s all about Rousey’s name value and mainstream appeal. Nobody can give me a reason otherwise as to why this simple tag match would draw that well, especially given since nearly every angle on the red brand has taken a back seat to what The Shield’s up to and Undertaker/Triple H.
The last two spots this week are reserved for another returning legend, as well as a rare RAW appearance from Triple H at five and six respectively. It’s been a long time since we last saw Mick Foley on a Monday night and his segment included a big announcement for Hell In A Cell, two things typically a recipe for at least a million views. Meanwhile, Triple H simply cut a promo, however a promo coming off of a hot segment last week. Therefore, both of these clips only coming in the 750-800k range strikes me as a surprise. I felt that this week’s report really had a shot for a million per clip.
