WWE is said to have dropped an upcoming angle for Shane McMahon!

Although the WWE Universe certainly doesn’t seem to be putting any stock into Shane McMahon’s WWE World Cup victory back at Crown Jewel in November, the company is still using it in their storyline between the aforementioned Shane and The Miz on SmackDown Live.

For weeks, ‘The A-Lister’ has attempted to form a team with Shane after he was the man that the SmackDown Live Commissioner replaced in the World Cup Finals after suffering an “injury” prior to the match. Now of course, we have heard that Shane’s win was all part of a longer term plan which was set to take place in January, as the Commish had been pegged for a heel turn (find that story here).

However, that may no longer be the case after Shane joined Vince, Stephanie and Triple H this past Monday on RAW to “take back control” of both the red and blue brand following some brutal television ratings in recent weeks. The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that since bringing Mr. McMahon back to television, plans for Shane’s heel turn have now been dropped. Currently, it’s not known what the end goal of The Miz/Shane storyline is, but we do know what the next step is after WWE taped next week’s edition of SmackDown Live this past Tuesday (check out the spoilers here).

EA’s Take: If you’re clamoring for change and this is true, which I feel like it is because the last couple of weeks it hasn’t looked like Shane’s going heel anymore, then this news may give you a mixed reaction. We know The McMahons are going to be more prominent so with that in mind, wouldn’t “change” be to turn Shane heel? I know we’ve seen it before, but he’s been a face since he returned so going the other way would technically be a “change”, at least from the recent past. Either way, if this means The Miz isn’t going babyface then I’m all for it.
