NXT UK TakeOver: NXT UK Women’s Championship

Rhea Ripley defended the NXT UK Women’s Title at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool!

Only two matches remained at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool following the No Disqualification war between Dave Mastiff and Eddie Dennis, as next up was the NXT UK Women’s Championship Match (keep up with all the action with Mitchell’s Live Report).

An injury played a role in Rhea Ripley defeating Toni Storm to become the first holder of the NXT UK Women’s Title, but fully recovered now, Storm had another shot at it. ‘The Mosh Pit Kid’ wasn’t too eager to tie up with the challenger at the start, as Toni would have to chase the champion around ringside before finally getting caught coming in. Ripley’s size and strength would prove to be the big factor in those aforementioned early stages, as Rhea would ground Storm and begin dominating.

The resilient challenger would of course battle back,.  showing the reserve that propelled her to win this year’s Mae Young Classic. The two would trade-off submissions, which isn’t Storm’s forte, but eventually ‘The Mosh Pit Kid’ would connect with The Riptide, but unfortunately only got a two count. Rhea would return the favor though, kicking out of the challenger’s Storm Zero to hang onto the championship a bit longer. However, a second Storm Zero would put Ripley down for the 1-2-3, giving us a new champion.
