AEW World Trios Championship Tournament Semifinals: Best Friends VS The Good, The Bad & The Hungy!

Everyone, including Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta, thought it was going to be The Dark Order’s 3, 4 and 10, but then Preston Vance went down with a knee injury. Then we thought Evil Uno was stepping in, only for Andrade El Idolo to beat him down! So in the end, Hangman Adam Page stepped up to help his friends! Will the Cowboy help John Silver & Alex Reynolds ride into All Out? Or will the tournament finals be Freshly Squeezed?

The trios sort out and Cassidy starts against Hangman. Fans are fired up already as the two stare down. Wait, Danhausen gets in the ring? The ref reprimands but Hangman says it’s okay. Cassidy moves aside, and Danhausen throws up the #JoinTheDarkOrder hand? But then he builds up energy to CURSE Hangman! Wait, it didn’t work? Is #CowboySh1t too powerful to curse? The ref says Danhausen’s had his fun, and he EJECTS him! The fans boo and even Hangman thinks that’s unfair. The Elite are watching backstage, though, as Cassidy rolls Hangman up! TWO!! Cassidy ducks ‘n’ dodges, tilt-o-whirls but Hangman blocks the DDT!

Hangman powers up to suplex but Cassidy slips around to a sleeper! Cassidy’s a backpack, and he decides he’s the cowboy riding a bucking bronco! Hangman frowns, Cassidy gives a thumbs up, but Hangman snapmares free. Things speed up, Cassidy hurdles but then has Hangman stop! Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets! Then he dodges a boot, only for Hangman to avoid the shotgun dropkick! Cassidy avoids the sliding lariat, and the two stand off! Fans cheer, the two circle, and both men slowly back up. Fans fire up for “Freshly Squeezed,” but Silver and Trent tag in! Best Friends and Beaver Boys rush each other and the brawl is on!

Silver & Reynolds whip Best Friends at each other, but Trent & Chuck do-si-do! Silver & Reynolds dodge, but then so do Chuck & Trent! Best Friends HUG! GOT to give the people what they want! But then Silver & Reynolds both waistlock them! Best Friends elbow free, standing switch and shove Silver & Reynolds at each other! Silver & Reynolds stop themselves from colliding, and they– No, nevermind, Best Friends shove them into each other so they can’t steal the hugging thing. Then they give Silver SOLE FOOD HALF ‘N’ HALF! Trent drags Silver up, puts him in the corner and puts him up top. Trent & Chuck both climb, then Cassidy tags in.

Cassidy flexes as he hooks up, but Hangman gets in to throw Cassidy away! Hangman then drags Chuck and Trent down, and he helps Silver off the corner like a babby. Fans cheer and Silver gives a Cassidy style thumbs up. But Cassidy fires off the “devastating” shin kicks! Hangman turns to look at Cassidy while setting Silver down. Cassidy powers up, but Silver pushes Hangman out of the way to take the- Well, actually, Cassidy stops, surprised to see that. Silver gets mad and swings on Cassidy, but Cassidy dodges to SUPERKICK! Hangman BOOTS Cassidy, but gets a SEXY CHUCKY KNEE! Reynolds BOOTS Chuck!

Reynolds dodges Trent’s knee, but now the TORNADO DDT! Fans fire up, Silver runs in, and he CLOBBERS Trent with an uppercut! Everyone is down and fans fire up for “Johnny Hungy!” Cassidy slides back in, he crawls over and covers Silver, TWO! Cassidy drags Silver up while AEW goes picture in picture.

Cassidy brings Silver to the corner, Trent tags in, and they mug Silver. Tag to Chuck and Best Friends suplex Silver up. They hold Silver up together then SLAM him down! Chuck covers, TWO! Chuck is upset, he covers again, ONE, so Chuck stomps Silver down! Chuck drags Silver up and around, bumps him off buckles, then tags Cassidy. Cassidy brings Silver around and flexes, but Silver suplexes Cassidy! Both men are down and fans rally up again. Silver hot tags Hangman! Hangman CLOBBERS Cassidy, BOOTS Trent, but Cassidy dodges him in the corner. Chuck runs in but is put on the apron. Cassidy runs in but gets an elbow!

Hangman tags Reynolds, then triangle jump LARIATS Chuck! Rampage returns to single picture as Reynolds coordinates with Hangman. Hangman pops Reynolds up and uses the powerbomb position to BOOST Reynolds up and out of the ring to MOONSAULT onto Best Friends! Fans fire up but Cassidy is up top! Cassidy LEAPS, but into Hangman’s arms! FALL AWAY SLAM! Hangman kips up then PLANCHAS, but onto Reynolds! Best Friends used Reynolds as a shield! Trent and Chuck get Hangman for a DOUBLE CHOKE SLAM through the timekeeper’s table! Trent snatches a water bottle to take a drink.

Fans lose their minds over the damage done, but Reynolds spins Cassidy for a ROLLING ELBOW! Cassidy goes down, Reynolds covers, TWO!! Cassidy survives but Reynolds BLASTS Best Friends! Tag to Silver as The Elite still watch, and Silver whips Cassidy to ropes. Cassidy holds ropes, puts Silver on the apron and then blocks his haymaker. Cassidy goes to buckle bump but Silver blocks and GAMANGIRIS! Silver CANNONBALLS onto Chuck, CLOBBERS Trent, then gets in the ring! Cassidy backslides but Silver slips through! Silver KICKS, KICKS and SUPERKICKS! Then suplexes, into STUN-DOG MILLIONAIRE!

Cassidy runs, into a LARIAT! Fans fire up with the Meat Man as he gets Cassidy up, but BEACH BREAK outta nowhere!! Trent DECKS Reynolds while Cassidy covers, TWO!! Silver survives but Best Friends coordinate! They drag Silver up in the dragon sleeper wheelbarrow and Cassidy climbs up onto the shoulders of Trent & Chuck. HAMMOCK SPLASH!! Cover, Hangman breaks it in time!! Fans are thunderous and Hangman tosses the Best Friends out! Hangman shouts to Silver as fans rally up. Cassidy drags Silver away, Silver boots him back, tag to Hangman! Hangman ROCKS Cassidy, climbs up top, and ARIHARA MOONSAULTS on Chuck!

Hangman gets back in, he BOOTS Cassidy away then goes up! But Trent goes up after him! SUPER GERMAN- Hangman lands on his feet?! And then ROLLING ELBOWS Trent! ROLLING ELBOW for Cassidy! Alabama Lift, DEADEYE!! Cover, Best Friends breaks it!! Reynolds & Silver throw Best Friends back out, then Hangman tags Reynolds and Reynolds tags Silver. The Good, The Bad & The Hungy are all in the ring as fans fire up. Hangman whips Cassidy to the corner, Silver GAMANGIRIS, Reynolds ROLLING ELBOWS, Silver ENZIGURIS, Reynolds STUNNERS! Silver waistlocks and holds Cassidy up, but Trent SPEARS Hangman off the apron!

Cassidy fights free, cradles Silver, TWO!! Silver escapes and Cassidy goes to a corner. Silver runs in, Cassidy puts him up top and Chuck tags in. Chuck SUPERKICKS Reynolds into Trent’s Alabama Lift ‘n’ Tuck! Best Friends hit Reynolds with STRONG ZERO to the floor!! Chuck gets back in, drags Silver off the top, RUNNING AWFUL WAFFLE!! Cover, Hangman breaks it!! Fans are thunderous but Chuck whips Hangman to ropes. Hangman slips out to the apron, BOOTS Chuck then loads up, BUCK- NO, Chuck ducks, Cassidy ORANGE PUNCHES Hangman! Chuck clotheslines Hangman up and out! Silver rolls Chuck, DARK ORDER WINS!

Winners: The Good, The Bad & The Hungy, by pinfall (advance to All Out)

The Elite seem to have mixed feelings about this. Hangman, Silver & Reynolds manage to win this one by the skin of their teeth, but they’re still going to the tournament finals! Will Hangman and his new friends overcome Hangman’s old friends to become the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions?

Eddie Kingston speaks.

“Ishii. Last time we met, you defeated me, and I’ll take it for what it is. You were the better man that night. But I’m different now. I’ve walked that Kings Road path a little bit further. I’ve learned more. So Strong Style Pitbull, bring everything you have. Bring your lessons, because I will bring mine. And this time… I will move on.” Will the Mad King overcome the Stone Pitbull and rise up the ranks?

Rey Fenix w/ Alex Abrahantes VS Blake Christian!

The Immortal Firebird takes on one of the fastest rising stars in wrestling today to see if he can get some momentum before the Casino Ladder Match. Will Fenix be ready to go All Out? Or will #AllHeart show he is worthy of being #AllElite?

The bell rings and the two step up. Fenix rolls Blake but Blake rolls through. Fenix sweeps the legs, covers, ONE! Fenix stomps but Blake blocks and kips up! Blake steps over to WHEEL KICK! Fenix ends up on ropes, Blake whips him to ropes, but Fenix reverses. Blake reverses back, hurdles over then trips Fenix up to DROPKICK him down! Blake AND Fenix kip up and fans fire up! Fenix blocks Blake’s kick, CHOPS him, then runs to go up and around him for an arm-drag! Blake gets up, Fenix mule kicks then knuckle locks. Fenix CHOPS, CHOPS again, then goes up and up, only for Blake to trip him!

Fenix lands safe on the second rope and wags his finger, but Blake CHOPS him in return! Fenix kips up on the top rope to FLYING ARM-DRAG!! Fans are thunderous and Fenix brings Blake up. Blake ROCKS Fenix but Fenix CHOPS him down! Fenix runs, Blake dodges but Fenix slips out to the apron. Blake handspring heel kicks Fenix down, then builds speed to FLY! Blake lands on his feet out of the Fosbury Flop and he puts Fenix in the ring. Fans fire up with Blake, but Fenix loosens his chin strap to get a bit more serious. Fenix gets under Blake’s springboard and SUPERKICKS him on the return!

Fenix CHOPS Blake, then CHOPS him again! Fenix brings Blake around, gets him up in the Canadian Rack, CLIFFHANGER GUTBUSTER! And then another scoop, a knee, then a BLACK FLAME DRIVER!! Cover, Fenix wins!

Winner: Rey Fenix, by pinfall

It was a good fight, but Fenix breaks All Heart to show he has no mercy! Will Fenix fight that hard against even his own brother, Penta, in the Casino Ladder Match?

Backstage interview with Hook.

Lexi Nair says this Sunday at All Out, the FTW Champion will defend his title against his “biggest challenger yet” in “Cool Hand Ange,” Angelo Parker. But speaking of, the Jericho Appreciation Society barges in! Parker says he’s been looking for Hook for weeks. Parker asks Hook, “What if?” That’s a scary question, isn’t it? What if Cool Hand Ange beats Hook? What if Parker takes the FTW Championship? What if Parker exposes the myth of Hook? Hook stares Parker in the eye and then puts the title down so he can throw off his shirt! Matt Menard tells Hook to calm down. This isn’t the streets of New York! Menard’s not sure what Hook thinks is going on here!

There is a time and a place, and that time and place will be this Sunday night in the All Out Zero Hour. The boys will be getting a taste of the title! The JAS backs off, and Hook storms off the other direction. But what if Parker regrets ever wanting them to #SendHook?

Mixed Tag: Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo VS Ruby Soho & Ortiz!

More members of the Jericho Appreciation Society are in action as the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions are here, giving each other a kiss good luck. This is a non-title match, but it is a grudge match after the controversy used to win one for #SamTay. Will things be a bit more fair and square for the friends of Eddie Kingston? Or does the JAS have another trick up their sleeves this week?

The teams sort out and Ortiz starts against Sammy. Sammy rushes in but into a body shot! Ortiz CLUBS Sammy, ROCKS him, then CHOPS him. Sammy is stinging and Ortiz shoves him into a corner. Ortiz fires off body shots into Sammy’s back, then climbs up to grind his forearms into Sammy’s face! The ref counts, Ortiz lets off, but then Ortiz fires off crossface forearms! Ortiz CLAWS Sammy’s back, then shows those tiger claws! Tay shouts at him but Ortiz just frowns at her. Ortiz wheelbarrows Sammy but Sammy holds onto the ropes! So Ruby KICKS Sammy in the face! Tay storms over but into a PENALTY KICK!

Fans fire up with Ruby and Ortiz as they flex, and AEW goes picture in picture. Ortiz looms over Sammy, drags him up, and HEADBUTTS him down! Ortiz shakes it off and brings Sammy back up. Ortiz puts Sammy in the ropes, hooks him up, and pulls him back in a motorcycle stretch while Ruby talks smack on Sammy. The ref counts, Ortiz lets off, and Ruby fires off KICKS now! Payback from all the cheating last time! Ruby then sees Tay storming over again, PENALTY- NO, Tay blocks it to trip Ruby up! Tay then RAMS Ruby into steel steps! The ref reprimands but Sammy throws Ortiz into the ropes!

Ortiz sputters while Sammy argues with the ref. Tay puts Ruby’s bad arm in between steps and post, then BOOTS the steps! Ruby clutches her hand, it might’ve been broken all over again! Fans boo but SamTay eggs them all on! And of course they kiss. Ortiz CHOPS Sammy! Ortiz and Sammy brawl, Sammy knees low, then Sammy CLUBS Ortiz down! Sammy hammers away on Ortiz, then drags him around. Sammy puts Ortiz through ropes and CHOKES him! The ref reprimands, Sammy lets off at 4, and Tay gets a cheap shot in! Tay taunts the fans while Sammy CLUBS Ortiz more. Sammy tags Tay in and they double suplex Ortiz!

The ref reprimands but Tay tags Sammy back in so technically it’s all fine. Sammy soaks up the heat, but Ortiz throws body shots! Sammy KICKS Ortiz down, clamps on a chinlock and then CLUBS away on Ortiz’s face as AEW goes to break.

Rampage returns and Sammy CHOPS Ortiz in the corner! Ortiz rushes Sammy but Sammy powers him back into the corner! Sammy lets off but Tay gets her shots in. Sammy brings Ortiz up and he soaks up the heat before he RAMS into Ortiz. Sammy slips out to the apron, ENZIGURIS Ortiz away, then kisses Tay again. Sammy springboards but Ortiz gets under! POWERSLAM! Ortiz rolls, hot tag to Ruby! Ruby SPEARS Tay! Then hits an STO! And then another STO! Ruby drags Tay up, brings her around and HEADBUTTS away! Tay staggers around, Ruby blocks her boot to KNEE her back!

Sammy tags back in, slingshots, but Ortiz dodges! Ruby shoves Sammy into Ortiz’s atomic drop! LARIAT, and then Ruby runs, wheelbarrow SPLASH! Ortiz adds a SENTON! Cover, TWO! Ortiz grows frustrated but the fans fire up! Ortiz tags Ruby, but Sammy TOSSES Ortiz! Ortiz lands on his feet but Ruby tilt-o-whirls to DD- NO, Sammy stops that and sets Ruby down. Sammy smirks but Ruby HEADBUTTS him! Ruby then wheelbarrows, but Tay catches her! WHEELBARROW DDT! Cover, Ortiz drags Tay away! Sammy ENZIGURIS Ortiz! Fans tell SamTay, “You Suck!” SamTay say no they don’t! They double suplex again, but Ortiz slips free!

Ruby returns, she waistlocks Tay while Ortiz has Sammy, SNAP GERMAN for Sammy, O’Conner Roll for Tay! RUBY & ORTIZ WIN!

Winners: Ruby Soho & Ortiz, by pinfall

Even Jericho admits, that was a great match! SamTay is furious that Soho & Ortiz win, and even more so that they’re looking at the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships! Will there be a title match tiebreaker in the near future?

BREAKING FOR ALL OUT!

That tiebreaker is sooner rather than later! Just added to the Zero Hour is the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship match, SamTay VS Soho & Ortiz! Will the newlyweds be celebrating on Sunday? Or will their honeymoon phase be over after losing the gold?

Backstage interview with The Good, The Bad & The Hungy.

Lexi Nair is with Hangman, Reynolds & Silver to congratulate them on their win tonight. Hangman says that no one expected this, but- Don Callis walks in… Callis congratulates this trio, too. And this is great! Not just the win, but for how Hangman is handling himself. Callis couldn’t be more proud of him. A few weeks ago, two of his best friends in the world ask for Hangman’s help, he blew them off, but then joined Silver & Reynolds and let everyone find out on television. Unbelievable! Hangman’s getting annoyed but Callis says hey, screwing your friends over for power and money isn’t really Hangman’s thing, but Callis still liked it.

Hangman tells Callis to get out. Callis says he’s been doing seedy stuff for years, so trust him when he says it gets easier each time. Reynolds & Silver have Hangman calm down and tell him to forget what Callis said. Will the Good, the Bad & the Hungy show Callis he’s wrong when they win the AEW World Trios Championships?

Mark Henry has a sit-down interview with Jade Cargill and Athena.

The World’s Strongest Man has the AEW TBS Champion and her Baddies on his left and the Fallen Goddess on his right. Mark says Jade and Athena have been at each other’s throats for months now, and it is all finally coming to a head at All Out. Some say Athena is going to be Jade’s greatest competition. Jade laughs at that, and says, “Greatest competition? To be honest, Mark, this has been drawn out way too long. She should’ve lost about three, four weeks ago.” Athena has Jade stop there, and says the only reason this has gone on so long is because Jade is genuinely afraid that Athena will beat her and take the title.

Wait, Athena? Beat Jade? Jade is so tired of “ungrateful bitches” coming on the scene, thinking they deserve a shot at her title. It doesn’t work that way, Charity! Maybe they should adjust this girl as something else. Kiera Hogan says Athena should just be called Number 37. Jade likes that! Athena gets out of her seat and says SHE is the one tired of Jade. Jade says Mark should let Athena stand up and say what she’s gotta say. Athena says she will say what she says to your face because that is what she does. That s what every woman in this company Jade just disrespected deserves! Oh, she disrespected them? Oh yeah you did, honey!

Athena says “We eat this, we breathe this, this is our lives! And you come in with your 37-0, over the course of two years, and you think that you’re better than everyone?” Jade yawns as Athena goes on. Jade says she’s “The S*it.” No, she is not! She’s not? She’s not! And this Sunday at All Out, Athena will not only be the one that beats her, but she’ll be the one that beats her for every woman in the back that has had to deal Ms. That Bitch! Will Athena change that 37-0 to 36-1 and be THE ONE to finally take that title from Jade?

Backstage interview with Swerve In Our Glory and The Acclaimed.

Tony Schiavone is with Keith Lee, Swerve Strickland, Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn as these teams will battle for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Billy says there is no doubt Keith & Swerve are great, but come Sunday, they will be the second best team in AEW. Caster says that’s right. The Acclaimed have the most wins in AEW history, they’re the best homegrown team, and they have the number one selling T-shirt in “Scissor Me, Daddy A$$!” This is NOT Swerve’s House, this is THEIR house!

Bowens says, “Long story short, boys, The Acclaimed are gonna beat your Timon & Pumba looking asses all over the streets of Chicago. We’re taking home gold because everyone loves The Acclaimed.” Keith has some advice then. No more raps, no more jokes. In 48 hours, The Acclaimed need to prove to themselves that they’re more than just stereotypes. Swerve says he’s actually pissed about this. The Acclaimed’s getting on his nerves! Three years, The Acclaimed has been here, they’re the best homegrown AEW tag team, that’s great. Bravo, congrats. But for three years, Caster’s been cutting stupid little rap jokes while Bowens lets his partner down because his body gives out.

It’s going to take a lot more than this to come up against Swerve In Our Glory. They’re the mountains of AEW, made of rock, gravel and stone. And last time Swerve checked, rock beats scissor. The words are flying, but at All Out, we’ll see the fists fly instead! Will The Acclaimed make a change in order to become champions? Or will they have no choice but to #SwerveInOurGlory?

FTR & Wardlow are here!

Fans fire up to see the gold-studded trio as they bring the IWGP, ROH & AAA Tag Team Championships, as well as the AEW TNT Championship, to the ring. Fans chant, “F T R! F T R!” while Dax Harwood gets the mic. “Man, that’s for us?” Fans cheer and Dax continues, “For the better part of about a decade, I’ve tried to make sure that we come out here, and we’re tough guys and we’re mean and we growl, but I’m gonna get a little sappy, okay? There was a time in my life, and I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir right now. There was a time in my life where I felt worthless, and I felt at the bottom of the barrel.” Outside of his social circle, Dax felt like no one loved him.

But then 2022 happens. All the fans happened. From there, Dax’s life, FTR’s life, FTR’s career and momentum completely turned around, and he realized there is love. But he also realized that not everyone’s gonna love FTR, and that’s okay. That’s alright with Dax. Some of those people are the journalists who like to write and talk about the PPV, All Out. They question why this Six Man Tag is even happening. What is the point of it? What does that match even mean? Well Dax is here to tell you that this match means a hell of a lot to him! He understands that he is looking in the rearview mirror of his career, and there’s more behind him than in front of him.

“Every single match goes to our legacy. Every single match goes to the legacy of my life and my career. And speaking of my life, as a grown-ass adult, just like all of y’all, there’s three things you don’t mess with in life. Friends, money, and family” But Dax is interrupted from the stage as Chris Sabin says, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Hello, boys!” The Motor City Machine Guns, Sabin & Alex Shelley, as well as Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh, all walk out on stage to say hello to everyone. Now, for those who don’t know, Sabin will make the introductions. This is the tag team that defined an entire generation of wrestling. They represent the greatest city in modern civilization: Detroit, Michigan.

They are Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley, The Motor City Machine Guns! Shelley says, “Hey, shut up! You two.” Dax says this is about 10 THOUSAND people calling MCMG “A-Holes,” if you can’t hear it. Shelley frowns but it’s because MCMG is from Detroit. But Shelley wants FTR to understand something. Objectively speaking, FTR is the greatest tag team walking the planet. Shelley can tell, because they’re dragging Fort Knox through every airport metal detector, and there’s a chance FTR’s bank accounts are a little bit deeper, too. Maybe six, seven, eight figures? But one thing MCMG has that FTR doesn’t is the influence and respect of the locker room!

When MCMG walked in to AEW, every wrestler on the roster stood up! And on Sunday, you think the “piecemeal” Pinnacle is going to beat this? Understand something! MCMG, Lethal & Sonjay have been together for almost 20 YEARS, and they’ve seen EVERYTHING this industry has to offer! This here, the four of them–recognize the hand symbol?–are a family! Sonjay says Dax talks about no one should mess with their friends, money and family. Well this Sunday, this team messes with all of them! Because what’re FTR & Wardlow gonna do? Come down and fight like Dax’s “eight year old little brat?” That sets Dax off and Sonjay just laughs!

Dax almost gets up the ramp but Cash and Wardlow hold him back! Sonjay says Dax can try it, but they have the 7’4″ One in a Billion, Satnam Singh up here! Even Sonjay can take Dax with that! Wardlow keeps Dax back and Lethal mockingly holds Sonjay back, but will nothing stop this from exploding at All Out?

Mark Henry speaks with tonight’s main eventers.

QT Marshall is surprisingly without The Factory as the World’s Strongest Man says QT is facing Ricky Starks tonight, and it seems like everyone- It seems like what, Mark? With all due respect, has Starks ever given a man like “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs his word? QT didn’t think so. QT promised Hobbs that QT would get the job done by himself. And look! The Factory isn’t here! Because in the end, everyone will know QT’s word is his bond! Starks says, “Your bond, huh? Your bond? Hey, that’s really cool, I’m glad that you’re doing it by yourself. But I got good news and I got bad news. The good news is yes, you get to be by yourself as the big star.

“The bad news is, I gave you no choice but to do it by yourself!” Starks has the camera follow him, and Starks shows QT that he’s jammed The Factory’s door shut! No one is getting out to help QT now! Starks flounders, QT drags him up and brings him around to suplex high and hard! QT smirks, runs and drops a leg, brother! Cover, TWO! QT is annoyed but he ROCKS Starks with a right.

QT looms over Starks, pushes him down and drops an elbow! Then another elbow! Then, he stands on Starks’ face and mocks his pose. That was an absolute fight! But Will Hobbs is on the stage! The Powerhouse storms down to the ring, he and Starks brawl! The fans go wild but referees rush out to stop this! Fans boo, they want to “Let Them Fight!” Starks gets loose to CLOBBER Hobbs! They brawl, the refs try again, and then Bryan Danielson comes out to confront Chris Jericho talking trash! The Lionheart and the American Dragon stare down while Hobbs gets loose to SPLASH Starks in the corner! The refs separate Hobbs and Starks again while Jericho and Bryan talk some trash. Which way will the wind blow in the Windy City when these grudge matches go All Out?

My Thoughts:

A very good go-home for All Out, with the biggest thing being that Soho & Ortiz won the Mixed Tag Match to now have a title match on Sunday. The Mixed Tag Match here was very good, building off of things from last time, but I’m not sure the match on Sunday will be any better. At the very least, I don’t see Soho & Ortiz winning. SamTay will probably retain and only lose these belts to a team from AAA. Fenix VS Blake Christian was also a surprising addition to the card, and of course Fenix wins. Not sure why this couldn’t have been a women’s match, or y’know, just not part of the card so there could be more time for everything else.

Great promos from Athena and Jade, and while the kayfabe reason of Jade not being a workhorse champion is a logical one, we all know why this took so long to build. But in the end, this match will be great stuff, but I can’t be sure if Athena wins. If AEW put more effort into properly pacing women’s division feuds, this would feel like the time for Jade’s streak to stop and she can drop the TBS title so she can then pivot to the top title. But because of how long it’s taken, Athena sadly doesn’t feel like the one to win. And just as sad, there doesn’t feel like there’s anyone in the AEW Women’s Division who could stop Jade, unless you go with the world title contenders.

We got a great promo segment from The Pinnacle and the unofficial Four Horsemen of ROH/Impact. I do get where Dax is coming from, with how there should’ve/could’ve been a TNT Championship and/or ROH Tag Team Championship, but I also like that he was willing to say FTR aren’t spring chickens anymore. I still say this Trios match will give us the separate TNT and ROH title matches, so they’ll be able to use the next couple of months to build those matches for Full Gear. And very good promo from Keith, Swerve & The Acclaimed. Both sides made good points about homegrown VS former WWE, but also that something clearly didn’t click for The Acclaimed to not get closer to the titles. That match is going to be great stuff, but I don’t see Keith & Swerve losing here.

Good promo from Kingston, but he’s always great at talking. Kingston VS Ishii II is going to be awesome. Parker, Menard and Hook had a good interaction, but I don’t see Hook losing. The Trios tournament match was an awesome opener, but of course Hangman’s team wins. Since we can’t get The Elite VS The Undisputed, we’re getting Elite VS Hangman and his new friends. Callis’ promo was a good attempt to sew seeds of discord, and even without that, Hangman’s history with The Elite will definitely be the story of the match. Given that, it’s no longer a given the Bucks will be Trios Champions, we could end up with Hangman & Dark Order finding a way to snatch this from them.

And we got a very fun main event segment. Good transition from promo to brawl to match. Obviously, The Factory wasn’t going to stay out of this so it was clever that Starks did his best to block them. Starks still wins, but then he and Hobbs have a great show closing brawl. Their match could go either way, too, but as long as the story is strong, and there’s a plan for both guys in the aftermath, it’ll be just fine.

My Score: 8.6/10

Parking Lot Brawl: Trent Beretta VS Chuck Taylor!

Years of friendship, thrown away, and why? Because #JustTrent had a problem with Freshly Squeezed having more success in AEW than them? Because #JustTrent had a problem with Cassidy as a person? Because #JustTrent turned out to be the selfish one in the relationship? Well, then will #JustTrent get his ass kicked? Or will he take advantage of how Chuckie T. is a Kentucky Gentleman?

Trent stares Chuck down while we hear the crowd of other wrestlers taunting him. Trent takes a swing, but Chuck dodges to fire off hands! The brawl is on, and Chuck gets the edge! Chuck ROCKS Trent, then SMACKS him off a car hood! And then off the car door! Chuck drags Trent up, but Trent RAMS Chuck into the car! And throat chops him just because! Trent gets space, runs back in, but Chuck dodges so Trent hits the passenger door! Chuck gets a trash can lid and he stands Trent up. Trent jumps through the open window but Chuck drags him back out. Trent kicks low, and he gives Chuck a CAR HOOD BACK SUPLEX!

Trent grabs the trash can lid, SMACKS Chuck right in the head and Chuck falls down! The crowd boos but Trent opens a car trunk to bring out a trash can, a dustpan and a baseball bat! Chuck storms up but Trent CHUCKS the trash can into Chuck’s face! Chuck flounders and Trent smirks. Trent SMACKS Chuck with the trash can, CLUBS him around, and Chuck is busted open! The white car has red polka dots on it now, and Trent talks trash, “This is what you wanted?!” Trent runs up, but Chuck POP UP POWERBOMBS Trent onto a car hood! Trent writhes, Chuck staggers around, and Chuck brings Trent around.

Chuck headlocks Trent before he SMACKS him off another car door. Trent goes around the back and then up onto a truck! Chuck follows, and he CLUBS Trent in the chest! But Trent slips under, and he CLAWS Chuck’s bloody face! Trent DECKS Chuck and Chuck falls through drywall sheets! Trent looms over Chuck as he crawls out of the wreckage. Trent stalks Chuck, brings him around and SMACKS him with the trash can lid! Trent hoists Chuck onto a car roof, SMACKS him again, then goes back to the truck. Trent climbs onto the roof of the truck, to FLYING ELBOW from car to car! Cover, TWO!!

Trent is furious, but Chuck is still in this as Rampage goes picture in picture.

Trent fumes, paces around, and goes back to the goodies. He brings out… Is that a screwdriver?! And he JABS Chuck in the head with it!! And then he DIGS it into Chuck’s forehead!! As if he wasn’t already bleeding badly!! Trent leaves Chuck behind, to fetch what looks to be a flat screen TV. Then he brings out a wood door!? Did someone visit Home Depot before coming here? Chuck CHOPS Trent in return then fires haymakers! Trent CLAWS Chuck’s face! Trent grabs that TV and CHUCKS it, only for Chuck to duck it! Rampage returns as TV screen hits windshield! Chuck kicks low to snap suplex Trent through the door!!

The crowd is losing its minds as Trent crawls. Chuck gets Trent’s legs, to CATAPULT him into the truck’s tailgate!! The crowd fires up while Chuck gets a sinister look on his face. Chuck takes a piece of that drywall to SMASH it on Trent! Chuck gets that trash can, he SMACKS Trent with it! Chuck sees the pile of extra goodies nearby, and he uncovers some light tubes! But first, he’ll clean up the mess, he SMACKS Trent with the dust pan! And SMACKS him again and again! And then one more shot with the trash can! Trent writhes, but Chuck drags Trent up. Chuck SMACKS Trent off the tailgate, then clears some space.

Chuck climbs up, but Trent ROCKET LAUNCHES him onto the light tubes!!! The tubes shatter under Chuck’s back! Trent sputters, he’s bloody now, too. Trent puts Chuck against the car hood and stands on him! Trent soaks up the heat, but Chuck TRIPS Trent! Trent writhes, Chuck reels Trent in, Canadian Rack, RAZOR’S EDGE onto a windshield!! Trent writhes while fans chant “HOLY CHUCK!” Chuck covers Trent on the hood, TWO!! Trent survives and hurries around the back of this sedan. Chuck snarls, goes up after Trent, and they meet on the roof. They’re both so bloody as they fire forearms back and forth!

The crowd cheers Chuck and boos Trent, and as the two swing wild, they end up HUGGING! You GOT to give the people what they want, right? They stand, Chuck ROCKS Trent and reels Trent in, but Trent LOW BLOWS!! Trent has Chuck now, PILEDRIVER ON THE CAR ROOF!!! And then, SNAKE BITE!! Trent is choking Chuck out!!! Chuck IS out, Trent wins!!

Winner: Trent Beretta, by submission

The Best Friends tore each other apart, but it is #JustTrent that stands tall in the end. He’s clearly lost the respect of his peers given how the other wrestlers are chanting “You Suck! You Suck!” But wait, Trent isn’t done? He has a monkey wrench!? Cassidy & Kris step forward to say no, this is going too far! Trent says this is all Cassidy’s fault! And SMASH, Trent hits Chuck’s leg with the wrench, and even shatters the glass behind it!! Chuck clutches the already recovering leg, and now Cassidy wants after Trent! Kris stops Cassidy, Trent’s still got the wrench! Trent escapes into the shadows of the arena, what darkness is living in Trent’s heart?

Don Callis is watching this.

And he seems to like the sadistic savagery he just witnessed. Trent may not have Best Friends anymore, but could he end up with a whole new family?

Backstage interview with Kyle O’Reilly.

Arkady Aura is with #CombatKyle and brings up his impressive showing in Dynamite’s Casino Gauntlet this past Wednesday. But we all want to know, what is next for her? Well, on Saturday, May 11th, AEW is coming to his hometown! Collision in Vancouver, British Columbia! The Rogers Arena, the same building an 11-year-old Kyle saw his first wrestling show ever. And at that show, Kyle told his dad that he was gonna do this one day. Papa O’Reilly said, “Oh yeah, sure you will, kid.” But somehow, Kyle pulled it off. 25 years later, he’s coming back home to do the one thing he’s ever been good at and that’s wrestling.

Kyle is going to take on the best wrestlers this world has to offer, right here in AEW, where the best wrestle. Kyle is ready for a fight, who will take him up on that in two weeks?

Thunder Rosa VS Deonna Purrazzo!

La Mera Mera and The Virtuosa could not coexist in the race for the AEW Women’s World Championship, and now they will Rampage against each other! Who will stand tall, ready for another shot at the title?

The bell rings and the fans rally up. Deonna and Rosa step up, talk a little trash, then Deonna pie faces Rosa! Rosa swings but Deonna catches the arm! Rosa avoids the takedown to knee low! They tie up again, go around and around, and Deonna puts Rosa in a corner. The ref counts, Rosa powers her way out but Deonna headlocks. Rosa powers up and out, but Deonna RAMS her! The two stay up, Deonna eggs Rosa on then kicks her low! Deonna whips, Rosa blocks the hip toss, but then Deonna blocks a hip toss! Rosa avoids the lariat to DECK Deonna! Rosa rains down fists but the ref reprimands.

Deonna stands Rosa up but Rosa ROCKS her first! Deonna stands, Rosa RAMS into her then bumps her off buckles.

Rosa goes up and up to leap, but Deonna blocks the rana and has a BOSTON CRAB! They’re in the ropes, the ref counts, and Deonna lets go. Rosa crawls to the corner, Deonna paces while soaking up the heat. Rosa stands, builds speed, and she WERCKS Deonna with a dropkick! Rosa fires up despite the pain in her back, and she kicks Deonna. Deonna stands, Rosa CHOPS her against the post! And CHOPS her again! Deonna ducks, Rosa chops post! Deonna SUPERKICKS Rosa down, and Rampage goes picture in picture.

Deonna steps on Rosa’s face, steps away, and Rosa staggers up to railing. Deonna storms up but Rosa kicks her low. Rosa then runs Deonna side to side to POST her! But then Deonna RAMS Rosa into apron! And SMACKS her off it! Deonna snarls, brings Rosa around, and she puts Rosa in the ring. Cover, TWO! Deonna clamps onto Rosa to pull her arms in, for a straitjacket stretch! Rosa endures, fights up, but Deonna turns that into a BACKSTABBER! Cover, TWO! Rosa is still in this, and she is feeding off the energy of the fans! Rosa stands, and she ELBOWS Deonna! And body shots! And CHOPS! And CHOPS! And CHOPS again!

Rosa has Deonna in a corner to UPPERCUT! Rosa runs corner to corner and back again, but Deonna dodges! Rosa POSTS herself and falls to the apron! Deonna storms back over, brings Rosa up and wraps the bad arm against ropes! The ref counts, Deonna KICKS the ropes as she lets off, and Rosa clutches the elbow. Deonna returns but Rosa RAMS into her! Deonna CLUBS Rosa, has her in a corner, and HEADBUTTS the lower back as Rampage goes to break.

Rampage returns and Deonna runs in, but into an ELBOW! And then a BOOT! Rosa goes up to MISSILE DROPKICK! The fans fire up with Rosa as she rises up! Deonna runs in, Rosa dodges to fire forearm after forearm! Deonna shoves, Rosa ENZIGIRIS! Rosa runs, to SHOTGUN BOOT! Deonna flounders to ropes, Rosa pounds the mat and the fans rally again. Rosa runs side to side to DROPKICK again! Cover, TWO!! Deonna toughs it out while Rosa shakes out her arm. Rosa drags Deonna up, but Deonna SOBATS! Deonna runs to KNEE LIFT and RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! Deonna wants the Fujiwara but Rosa rolls free!

Deonna BOTOS Rosa down, covers, TWO! Rosa is still in this and the fans rally up. Deonna is frustrated but she fireman’s carries Rosa. Rosa fires elbows, waistlocks, but Deonna pries the hold open! Deonna waistlocks, Rosa victory rolls and STOMP 182! The fans rally up again and Rosa covers, TWO! Deonna stays in this but Rosa stays on her. Rosa drags Deonna to a drop zone, goes to a corner and climbs. But Deonna rises and catches the leap! FUJIWARA ARMBAR!! Rosa endures, reaches out, pushes Deonna over to get a REAR NAKED CHOKE!! Deonna is in the body scissors but she fights around!

Deonna rises, to BACKPACK SENTON! Deonna is free, the fans fire up, and Deonna brings Rosa back up. Deonna SLAPS Rosa, then reels her in! Gotch Hold, but Rosa jackknife bridges! TWO, Deonna sunset flips, TWO! Prawn hold, TWO! FUJIWARA!! Rosa rolls it to a cradle, ROSA WINS!!

Winner: Thunder Rosa, by pinfall

Deonna thought she had the perfect formula but Rosa says she just beat her at wrestling! But then Deonna CLOBBERS Rosa at the ramp! The fans boo but Deonna drags Rosa up to RAM her into the bleachers! Rosa slumps down, but Deonna digs her boot in! Deonna SLAPS Rosa around, tells the ref to shut up, and she SLAPS Rosa more! So Rosa SLAPS back! They brawl on stage and then out to the ledge of the upper level! The fans fire up as they keep going! Security rushes in, the fans boo, but Deonna flips Rosa off! It seems nothing was settled here, will these two look to go Double or Nothing?

Backstage interview with The Undisputed Kingdom.

Arkady Aura is with Roderick Strong, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett as she notes Will Ospreay is the NEW #1 Contender to the AEW International Championship. Taven says hold on, before we get started here, “Not Lexy,” as three guys who care deeply about neck health, and as two guys who nursed someone from the brink of paralysis (aka Roddy), The Kingdom wishes a very speedy recovery to “the world’s greatest boss. TK, stay strong, buddy.” Roddy then shouts that “WILL… Ospreay. Congratulations, you did it! You have signed, sealed and delivered the downfall, demise and destruction of The Aerial Assassin at Double or Nothing.”

Roddy says the world can sing Ospreay’s praises, but none of that matters when you step in the ring with Roddy. Just like all the ones before, Roddy will dismantle Ospreay, he will BREAK Ospreay, and he will make Ospreay fall in front of The Savior of the Backbreaker. Roddy’s confidence is strong, but will Roddy be the one feeling the End of Heartache after taking on the #BillyGOAT?

“Big Bill” Morrissey VS Trevor Blackwell!

The human skyscraper says he wants to sit under the Learning Tree, but Chris Jericho’s gonna need a bigger tree if he’s to give guidance to Big Bill. Will Bill prove he is worthy of The Wizard’s sage advice?

The moment Bill is in the ring, he SPLASHES Trevor right in the corner! The bell rings, Bill runs to BOOT Trevor down! Trevor flounders around, Bill runs corner to corner and SPLASHES again! Trevor flops around, Bill wants Jericho to watch this. Bill said he’d show Jericho he is worthy, and we do see Jericho watching backstage, holding the FTW Championship on his shoulder and oddly still wearing a #LionHook shirt… Jericho nods as Bill CLUBS Trevor on the back! Bill then tells Jericho to watch him! Scoop and BIG BOSS SLAM!! Cover, but Bill lets off! Bill wags his finger, he wants Jericho to see more.

Bill brings Trevor up, reels him in, and short arm LARIATS! Cover, but again Bill lets off! Bill is having too much fun at poor Trevor’s expect. Bill says Jericho’s gonna wanna teach him. Bill hoists Trevor up for the SKYSCRAPER CHOKE SLAM!! One foot cover, a very Jericho move, and Bill wins!

Winner: “Big Bill” Morrissey, by pinfall

Trev might want to change his last name to Well-done, because he got roasted. Bill wants Jericho’s guidance, does he even need it when he can do all this?

BREAKING NEWS for Rampage!

Rampage won’t be following up Collision next week but it also won’t be back on Friday just yet. For AEW’s return to Canada, Rampage is going to be BACK TO BACK with Dynamite! Get ready for a truly All Elite Wednesday!

Katsuyori Shibata & Daniel Garcia VS Shane Taylor Promotions!

The Wrestler said during Collision earlier tonight that he was going to take on Shane Taylor Promotions by himself if he had to, but then the Dragonslayer offered his help. Now they’re both going to take on #TAIGASTYLE and Big Bad Shaney T. himself! Garcia wears basic trunks and boots to match Shibata, will The Wrestlers win out? Or will STP rumble, bad man, rumble?

The moment all four men are in the ring, Shibata CLOBBERS Lee Moriarty and then he and Garcia both go after Shane! The fans fire up as they stomp and kick Shane right out of the ring! Lee brings Shibata around, suplexes, but Shibata slips free to waistlock!

Lee elbows free, kicks, but Shibata blocks! Lee KNEES Shibata but Garcia tags in! Shibata BOOTS Lee, Garcia LARIATS! Garcia DROPKICKS Shane, gets around Lee, TWIST ‘N’ SHOUT! And then another TWIST ‘N’ SHOUT! Garcia brings Lee up again but Lee suplexes! Garcia slips free, spins Lee and kicks low, to then TWIST ‘N’ SHOUT! The trifecta is complete and the fans fire up! Garcia storms up on Lee, brings him up, and UPPERCUTS! The fans rally for Garcia, he CHOPS Lee to ropes. And CHOPS Lee against ropes! Garcia runs, but Shane trips him! Lee distracts the ref so Shane can DRAPING DDT to the floor!

Shibata protests but Lee mocks him by sitting cross-legged. The ring count climbs, Garcia drags himself up at 3 of 10, slides in at 5, but Lee stomps Garcia at the ropes! The fans fire up, Garcia throws more shots, then leaps, but into Shane’s arms! Shane RAMS Garcia into a corner, then CHOPS! Shane runs up, but Garcia BOOTS! Garcia spins, but Shane ROCKS him first! And URENAGES! And then SPLASHES down! Cover, TWO!

Shane seethes but he keeps Garcia from Shibata, and Rampage goes picture in picture.

Shane mocks Garcia’s dance, drags him up, but Garcia CHOPS! Garcia staggers, but Shane fires body shots in the corner! Shane ROCKS Garcia, tags Lee, and STP mugs Garcia. Garcia flounders to ropes, Lee CHOKES him! The ref counts, Lee steps away, and he stomps Garcia around. Lee wraps an arm around the ropes, then fishhooks Garcia! The ref counts, Lee lets off, and Garcia feeds off the energy of the fans. Lee brings Garcia up but Garcia fires forearm sand CHOPS! Lee gets around, and GERMAN SUPLEXES! Cover, TWO! Garcia stays in this but Lee stays on him with a wrench. Tag to Shane, and Lee hooks Garcia up in a COBRA TWIST, just so Shane can KNEE Garcia down!

Shane has Garcia on ropes, ROCKS him with a forearm, then scoops him for SNAKE EYES! Garcia slumps down in the corner, Shane drags him back up, and TOSSES him out! Shane goes out to then put Garcia against railing. Shane ROCKS Garcia, talks trash on fans, then brings Garcia around to scoop and SLAM him to the floor! Shane talks more trash on the fans, Lee has him cool off, and Shane brings Garcia up again. Shane puts Garcia in, tags Lee, and then Lee clamps on with a top wristlock and stretches Garcia out! Garcia endures, turns to fight the pressure, but Lee CLUBS him down. Lee drags Garcia up, tags Shane, and Shane scoop SLAMS!

Shane runs to SPLASH Garcia again! Rampage returns to single picture, Shane drags Garcia to a drop zone, and he goes up a corner. The fans boo but Shane blows them a kiss. FALLING SPLASH FLOPS as Garcia moves! T he fans fire up, but Lee KICKS him down! Lee hurries back and tags in, then he drags Garcia up. Lee wrenches, wristlocks, but Garcia endures. Lee SNAPS the fingers! The fans boo Lee being so villainous, but he drags Garcia up. Lee bumps Garcia off buckles, Shane holds Garcia up, but Garcia fights free with boots and haymakers and elbows! The fans fire up, Garcia sends Lee into Shane!

Lee hurries to waistlock but Garcia switches, SAIDO! The fans are thunderous as Lee and Garcia crawl! Hot tags to  Shane and Shibata! Shibata BOOTS Shane! Shane roars, Shibata runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges and BOOTS! Shibata whips to BOOT Shane in the corner! Shibata fires forearms, the ref counts, but Lee runs up. Shibata DECKS him! Garcia RAMS Lee into a corner, climbs up, and while Shibata fires forearms on Shane, Garcia rains down fists! Garcia goes all the way to nine, then DOES HIS DANCE! Shibata and Garcia coordinate, DOUBLE HYDRAULIC DROPKICKS! The fans fire up and Garcia stands Shane up. Shibata runs in to BOOT!

Shibata CHOPS and CHOPS and CHOPS Shane, then CHOPS, CHOPS and JABS! Garcia does his dance while Shibata JABS and CHOPS to the rhythm! The fans are loving this, as now Garcia runs in to KNEE Shane! Shibata & Garcia get Shane up, to DOUBLE SUPLEX!! Cover, ONE?!? Shane has power to spare, but Garcia BOOTS him! Shibata BOOTS him! They go again, but this time Shane DOUBLE SUPLEXES them!! The fans boo but Shane tags in Lee. Lee runs up to clothesline Shibata, and JAB! And CHOP! JAB! CHOP! JAB! CHOP! Shibata just scowls at Lee! Lee says okay, and he fires more JABS and CHOPS!

Winners: Katsuyori Shibata & Daniel Garcia, by pinfall

Shibata helps Garcia stand up, and Garcia is proud to have won alongside one of his heroes! And with the fans cheering him on, Garcia sets up… to DO HIS DANCE! Will this momentum help Shibata avenge Hook and take that FTW Championship off of Chris Jericho? Or will The Learning Tree have some things to teach Shibata?

My Thoughts:

A great Rampage here, though I was oddly more excited when I thought it was just Deonna VS Rosa and the Parking Lot Brawl. But even so, at least Bill squashing a dude was used in story. He was showing off, he’ll surely have Jericho’s blessing if he helps defeat Shibata on Dynamite, but a part of me almost wants this to be all a trap. Bill was teammates with Ricky Starks in a feud against Jericho, and if Jericho is being obliviously arrogant then maybe Bill is using that against Jericho, too. But either way, let’s just hope this story helps Bill get going rather than slow him down like the #JerichoVortex has always done.

The Parking Lot Brawl was moving maybe a bit fast for me, especially with how there were some obvious spots already set up when they arrived, such as the drywall draped across the truck bed. But they surely got bloody, and in the end, Trent won out because he was willing to sink to the lowest low. And then they’ve written Chuck off again with that monkey wrench to the shin, so Cassidy VS Trent is definitely a Double or Nothing match. And something is just telling me that if Kris is gonna turn out to be the villain in the Willow Nightingale story, she’s probably gonna screw Cassidy over to help Trent, too.

Really good match from Deonna VS Rosa, and with Rosa getting a quick pin then that brawl, we’re clearly getting more out of them. Good promo from Kyle O’Reilly to hype AEW’s newest Canada tour, and good promo from The Kingdom to tie in their old Neck Health Awareness gag to the Tony Khan piledriver angle. Roddy calling out Ospreay, I would definitely think Ospreay wins the title at Double or Nothing. And really good tag main event from Shibata & Garcia VS Shane Taylor Promotions. STP keeps getting great showings even in losing, but Lee took the loss here to keep Shane himself strong. Great win for Shibata but this just adds to the go-home math where Jericho retains the FTW Championship on Dynamite.

My Score: 8.7/10

Mitchell’s AEW Collision Results & Report! (4/27/24)

It’s a slam dunk!

Published

on

Guns up for all the Jacksonville Gold Members!

Another three hour block of All Elite Wrestling starts with a Collision! But will the Bang Bang Gang still be the best three man unit ever? Or will Top Flight go from the coldest to the goldest trio in the game?

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Unified AEW & ROH World Trios Championships: Bullet Club Gold VS Top Flight; Bullet Club Gold wins and retains the titles.
  • Rey Fenix w/ Alex Abrahantes VS The Beast Mortos; Fenix wins.
  • Rush VS Martin Stone; Rush wins.
  • Toni Storm w/ Mariah May & Luther VS Anna Jay; Storm wins.
  • The Acclaimed VS Grizzled Young Veterans; The Acclaimed win.
  • AEW World Championship: Swerve Strickland w/ Prince Nana VS Claudio Castagnoli; Swerve wins and retains the title.

PLAY BY PLAY

Swerve Strickland is here!

Prince Nana again leads the way as the NEW AEW World Champion makes his way out here. The Realest opened Dynamite with a win, but he walks back out to Daily’s Place to stand in the ring to finally acknowledge his victory at Dynasty. Nana says, “Ladies and gentlemen, the man standing in front of you today is the Boss of Bosses! The man standing in front of you today is the Anointed One in Professional Wrestling! The man standing in front of you is one hell of a wrestler. And he’s none other than the AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Swerve Strickland!” The fans cheer and chant, “Thank You, Swerve!”

Swerve says what a week we’ve had here in AEW! Let’s run it down: a NEW TBS Champion in Willow Nightingale; by the grace of God, Adam Cole can walk; Adam Copeland got misted in the face by The House of Black; Will Ospreay and Bryan Danielson tore the house down; and then… Jack Perry returned. The fans boo but Swerve says Jack’s back in AEW, and he struck Tony Khan, the founder of AEW, who put his faith in Swerve. On top of that, The EVPs, the Young Bucks are again the AEW World Tag Team Champions, and they hit Tony Khan with the whatever it is driver, and now TK is in a neck brace and who knows when we’ll see him in healthy condition.

Now, Swerve will be the first to tell everyone, he’s done some horrible things. Once, twice, three, four times. But something about four elite athletes beating down a non-fighter in TK, that sounds like a b*tch move to him. The fans echo “B*TCH MOVE!” but Swerve wants to get to business. The most important thing that happened this week is Swerve went into Dynasty and he made history by dethroning Samoa Joe and becoming the NEW AEW World Champion! Now, a pet peeve of his is those going around calling themselves “Best in the World.” But make no mistake, the Best in the World is the one holding this title right here!

Last week, it was Samoa Joe. This week, it’s Swerve, baby. And Swerve got here by fighting, but also by making sacrifices. Swerve says the night he won this title, he went to his daughter. She said, “Dad, I love you, I’m so proud of you. But I feel like I just don’t know you.” That hit Swerve to his core. His relationship with his children is everything. But he’s missed birthdays, holidays, basketball games, dance recitals, Father-Daughter dances, and he can’t make up for lost time. But what he can do is set the example and blaze a trail, to make sure this was all worth it. The fans cheer that!

Swerve continues by saying AEW has set people in front of him and he’s knocked them all down! Kyle Fletcher was just one. Now, how about an Open Challenge for the AEW World Championship? But only to someone who really wants to fight! So how about it, Jacksonville? We’re entering a new era in AEW, the Dynasty Era! And the elite of that era is whose house? “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” But then here comes Claudio Castagnoli! The Swiss Superman is in a suit, not his gear, but he does get in the ring. Claudio circles Swerve, then takes the mic and holds up a finger. The fans still chant, but Claudio says, “You’re on.”

Swerve says see you later tonight then, in whose house? But then Claudio snatches the mic again! “It’s gonna be mine.” The fans are intrigued but Claudio is looking to end Swerve’s Dynasty the same week it started! Will the Swiss Superman bring even more gold to the Blackpool Combat Club?

Tony Khan has a medical update.

He is feeling grateful and blessed that he can still walk, talk and work, as was seen during the NFL Draft with Tony Khan alongside his father, Shahid, in the Jacksonville Jaguars war room. However, the doctors have advised TK not to travel, so he will be monitoring AEW Dynamite in Winnipeg remotely. Will that mean The EVPs will be in control of things in person this Wednesday…?

Unified AEW & ROH World Trios Championships: Bullet Club Gold VS Top Flight!

When it comes to Six Man Tags, the Bang Bang Gang runs this! But while they have six belts for the three of them, will that only weigh them all down against one of the fastest moving and fastest rising teams? Or will Jay White & The Gunns shoot Action, Darius & Dante outta the sky?

The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and we see who holds all the trios gold!

The trios sort out, White starts against Dante and the two talk a little trash over how the Casino Gauntlet went on Wednesday. The fans rally for Angel Dorado as he ties up with the Switchblade, but White headlocks. Dante powers up and out, but White runs him over! White bumps Dante off buckles, but Dante dodges to fire off forearms! White knees low, bumps Dante off buckles again, but Dante dodges to CHOP! And CHOP! And CHOP again! Dante whips corner to corner, White reverses, but Dante BOOTS back! Dante runs up to CHOP! And CHOP! White swings, Dante ducks to KICK, KICK and KICK!

White blocks a kick to DRAGON SCREW the leg! Dante writhes, White drags him up, and White CHOPS Dante to the corner. White CHOPS again, brings Dante over and tags in Colten. They mug Dante, then Colten sucker punches Action! Colten tags Austin, they whip Dante to body shot, knee lift, and LARIAT! Cover, TWO! The fans taunt the “ASS~ BOYS!” but Austin drags Dante up. Winner: Swerve Strickland, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)

It was a shootout ’til the end, and in the end, Swerve had more ammo in his arsenal! But he still shows Claudio respect by offering a handshake. Claudio stands, and he shakes Swerve’s hand. The Realest is rolling on, but who will look to go Double or Nothing with him in just one month’s time?

My Thoughts:

A great Collision, even with it having to be slightly delayed by NBA Playoffs. There was criticism out there that Swerve didn’t get a chance to talk on Dynamite, but he still had a really good promo to open Collision, and it worked better that he’d be able to reference the attack on Tony Khan from Dynamite. Swerve subtly calls out a lot of wrestlers within AEW, and technically some outside of AEW, by saying he doesn’t like people just calling themselves “Best in the World.” He and Claudio had an awesome main event match, though maybe a false finish too many. Swerve of course retained, and can’t wait to see who a now EVP dominated AEW chooses as Swerve’s opponent. It would be hilariously corrupt of The Bucks to make it Jack Perry.

Great Six Man title match tonight, solid first defense for Bang Bang Gang. Great tag match from Acclaimed with Grizzled Young Veterans, but it makes sense Acclaimed would win as the AEW home team. I’m just not sure where Acclaimed go from here other than Billy Gunn saying they can return to the tag division and challenge The Bucks. After all, FTR got pretty banged up in the ladder match and it’d be a bit soon for them to get a rematch against The Bucks. Swerve could team up with The Acclaimed if they’re all going to target The Elite, and vice-versa, going towards Double or Nothing.

Great return matches for Rey Fenix and Rush, but I didn’t think Rush would just do a squash match. Fenix, Pac and Penta all being healthy at the same time, Death Triangle going for the trios titles? Lucha Bros going for tag titles? And I’m really hoping LFI truly gets going here in AEW, also going for the trios titles or something like that. Really good promo from Cassidy with Kris and then Cassidy with Chuck to hype up the Parking Lot Brawl, that thing is gonna kick off Rampage and be wild stuff. Good promo from House of Black to call out Edge, but you can bet this won’t be the only time they go for the TNT Championship. Edge will surely beat Buddy or Brody, and then it’s Malakai challenging at Double or Nothing.

Good promo from Shibata and Garcia to set up a tag match for Rampage, that’ll be great stuff. Good interview promo for Deeb, though it doesn’t add all that much from everything else she’s said to this point. Storm VS Anna was a very good match, and of course Storm won. No Mina showing up was a little surprising, but there’s plenty of time to build the mentor love triangle. Deeb VS Storm will be great stuff, and depending on how they play this, there’s half a chance Deeb wins because Storm will end up preoccupied with Mina and Mariah being so close. Deeb can take the title and face Deonna, Rosa, and a number of others while Storm and Mina fight over Mariah quite literally.

My Score: 8.8/10
