Gage Goldberg Embraces the Pressure of Following Bill Goldberg’s Legacy
Gage Goldberg says he’s ready to shoulder the weight of his father’s name and aims to continue — and possibly surpass — Bill Goldberg’s legacy in sports entertainment. The University of Colorado linebacker told Memphis in May he’s been living in the shadow of his dad but is working to “do exactly what he did and maybe do it even better,” and has expressed interest in pursuing a wrestling career while the pair have even teased a Discovery Channel reality show.
Bill Goldberg reflected on the challenges of switching from pro football to wrestling, saying the hardest part was learning not to hurt people and navigating the pressure of entering a tight-knit industry as an outsider. He also recalled a difficult match with Paul Wight and noted his retirement in July 2025 after a loss to Gunther at SNME, a run that led into his career killer persona in WWE.
