Jacob Fatu Assaults Roman Reigns With Tongan Death Grip After Backlash Loss

Jacob Fatu came up short against Roman Reigns at WWE Backlash in Tampa, but he left the ring making as big a statement as anyone. Fatu repeatedly targeted Reigns with the Tongan death grip throughout the match, but Reigns weathered the offense, sent Fatu into an exposed turnbuckle and finished him with a spear to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

The action didn’t end with the bell — Fatu immediately re-applied the Tongan death grip post-match, knocked out a referee and fought off Shane Helms and Adam Pearce before finally releasing the hold. He even returned to the ring to use it again, cut a stage promo claiming it’s how you finish that matters, and grabbed the title to close the show; Reigns later told Cathy Kelley, “This is why we should have never let Jacob into this family… This is your last night here.”
