John Cena Classic Reportedly Targeted for Late 2026
WWE’s newly announced John Cena Classic, which will pit talent from both NXT and the main roster under a set of unique rules, is reportedly being targeted for the latter part of 2026. While Cena unveiled the concept at Backlash 2026, PWInsider says sources at a recent WWE Town Hall indicated the company is aiming to stage the tournament by the end of the year, though no participant list or official start date has been released.
Cena has defended the concept in interviews with CBS Sports and SHAK Wrestling, saying the Backlash crowd inspired the idea and suggesting the Classic could act as WWE’s version of an All‑Star Game. He noted the strong arena reaction and believes the format could grow into a marquee annual event for the company.
