Lexis King Claims Credit for the John Cena Classic
John Cena fulfilled his tease that he would “shock the foundation” of WWE at Backlash, unveiling a new tournament that will pit NXT talent against main roster stars as part of a multi-match showcase. The announcement marked a major cross-brand initiative designed to spotlight up-and-coming performers alongside established names, with additional elements for the event also teased.
Indie star Lexis King has since taken credit for the concept, saying she suggested the idea and even proposed the tournament’s name. King claimed, “I said you should host a tournament, call it the John Cena Classic,” positioning herself as the originator of the format that Cena announced.
