Mark Shapiro: Running WrestleMania in Las Vegas Two Years Straight “Maybe a Mistake”
WWE’s back-to-back WrestleManias in Las Vegas (2025 and 2026) failed to generate the same buzz or ticket demand as the initial show, even becoming part of on-screen storylines. TKO president Mark Shapiro told Brian Sozzi of Yahoo! Finance in an interview released this week that he took responsibility for moving WrestleMania 42 from New Orleans to Vegas and admitted, “Maybe it’s a mistake I made,” after deciding to return to the city.
Shapiro maintained he had “absolutely no regrets on going back,” arguing the only difference was losing the first-mover advantage after a huge initial success, but conceded the decision to host consecutive events in the same market was likely a misstep.
