Ronda Rousey says her final WWE match was a “big middle finger” to fans
Ronda Rousey, who departed WWE in 2023 and is slated to return to the cage against Gina Carano on May 16, reflected on her send-off match with Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam 2023. That bout, contested under MMA Rules, marked Rousey’s final WWE appearance and has continued to spark conversation among fans and pundits.
Speaking with ClutchPoints, Rousey framed the MMA Rules match as a deliberate, defiant statement — essentially a “big middle finger” to critics and anyone who doubted her direction. She suggested the unconventional finish and stipulation were chosen so she could leave on her own terms and control the narrative of her WWE exit.
