Greg DeMarco’s Three Stars Of The Night: WWE NXT (6/9/2026)
WWE Monday Night Raw heads to Paris, with two Intercontinental Championship matches, King & Queen Of The Ring, Oba Femi, and more!
WWE NXT starts the build for the Great American Bash, plus the Women’s North American Championship is on the line!
WWE NXT was live from the Performance Center in Orlando on June 9th, another packed episode that features two #1 contender matches, the first ever (annual?) Mr. NXT Pageant, and Zaria challenging Tatum Paxley for the NXT Women’s North American Championship. But with only three spots, who stood out?
The Third Star: Fraxiom

When they were named Fraxiom, I though it was stupid. But they became the best tag team in NXT, and possibly the world, during their run in Orlando. This week, they cane “home” and reminded everyone why they just fit there so well.
Noam Dar could easily be an honorable mention this week, as he just does everything so well. Hopefully he gets a proper run towards the top of NXT in the next 12 months.
This was a tag team match reminiscent of the Black and Gold days of NXT, and Fraxoim delivered in a big way throughout. I’d love to see them get a tag team title shot as part of the Great American Bash, maybe a 4-way tag?
Honorable Mention: Saquon Shugars

Outside of their entrance, Dark State always seemed to be lacking something. It turns out that “something” was an appropriate foil, which they have in…one of their own. Saquon Shugars has been fantastic since going the solo babyface route. He really stood out tonight, and I think he’s a darkhorse to be a major star in this company.
Honestly, I don’t even know if the internet likes the guy–I don’t pay attention to that. But *I* like the guy, and he is perfect in NXT.

The Second Star: Kendal Grey

Kendal Grey is one of the most talented performers in the entire WWE. Maybe I’m just biased, as I’ve had her pegged for stardom since I first saw her work. Kurt Angle comparisons are a dangerous thing, but she is living up to that lofty challenge.
If Lola Vice is headed to the main roster soon, it makes sense for Kendal Grey to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Yes, I would love to see Kelani Jordan get that shot, but Kendal is the type of talent that is undeniable, and cuts the line–deservedly so.
Honorable Mention: Naraku

I remember when the internet hated this guy when he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. And maybe he was simply miscast, because he seems to fit so well in WWE, and in NXT. Maybe the revelation of his marriage to IYO SKY is what it took for the internet to like the guy?

The First Star for WWE NXT: Tatum Paxley

Yes, she lost. But the Three Stars Of The Night aren’t (always) about wins and losses. It’s about the performance. And Tatum Paxley did what she’s been doing for over a year now–she delivered, unselfishly. She’s done it for talent after talent, and tonight she did it for Zaria. If Tatum Paxley isn’t a big star, I’ll be shocked. The sky is the limit.

In hockey, a game’s “Three Stars Of The Night” represent the top three performers of the night. For more clarification, I defer to this Pittsburgh Gazette explanation:
“The tradition dates to the 1936-37 season, when Imperial Oil became the principal sponsor of Hockey Night in Canada radio broadcasts and was seeking a way to promote one of its products, Three Star gasoline. The idea of doing so by selecting the top three performers in a particular game purportedly came from a Canadian advertising agency.
Many clubs do recognize the player with the most three-star selections with an award or trophy, usually in conjunction with a corporate sponsorship, at the end of the season (or sometimes, each month). All six Canadian franchises, for example, have an affiliation with a well-known brewery.
The NHL keeps track of its own Three Stars Of The Night selections, but that is done on a league-wide basis. The league employs a system that awards 30 points to a first star, 20 to a second star and 10 to a third – a running total can be found on the league’s website – but it does not present an award based on them.”
In hockey tradition, the first star represents the best of the three, but all three are considered to be receiving a high honor.
