Six Man Tag: Yota Tsuji, OSKAR & Yuto-Ice VS Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan & Zane Jay!
The Unbound Company continues to feud with the United Empire as Gene Blast wants the IWGP Heavyweight Championship back while The Dominator & Mauler want the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. Henare is sitting this one out, but will the Empire still conquer their rivals? Or will Yota and the Knock Out Brothers keep things tranquilo?
The trios sort out, and after some tense stare downs, we start with Yota and Callum. Callum shoves Yota but the ref has them hold on there. The bell rings, and the fans rally up for “YO~TA! YO~TA!” Callum pretends to be upset by that, then circles with Yota. Callum makes the ref cover Callum’s ears so he doesn’t have to hear the chants, then stops as the ref reprimands. Callum then pretends to yawn like he’s bored already. The two circle again, feel things out, then tie up. They’re in a deadlock, but Yota finds a point of leverage to push Callum to the ropes. The ref counts, Yota lets off slowly, but Callum CHOPS him!
The fans are torn but the ref reprimands as Callum eggs Yota on. Yota fires a forearm, Callum fires back, and repeat. The fans rally as the forearms keep going faster and faster, then Yota fires a flurry. Yota headlocks, Callum powers up and out, but Yota RAMS Callum! Callum SMACKS Yota! The fans cheer as Yota grins. Callum dares Yota to hit him, so he does! The forearms fly again, then Yota CHOPS! Callum is stinging from that one, but he stands back up, only for the stinging to hurt again. Yota then KNEES Callum to ropes! The fans fire up with Yota, he whips Callum, but Callum ducks ‘n’ dodges and builds speed, to BUSAIKU KNEE!
Callum waves to his team and The Empire rushes in! Khan BLASTS Ice while Zane DROPKICKS Oskar! Then Zane DIVES to take Oskar down! The fans fire up for that, and Callum BOOTS Yota off the apron! Khan goes after Ice while Callum FLIES to take down Yota! The fans fire up as Callum stands tall. Meanwhile, Khan has knocked Yuto down, and he sits on a chair on top of Yuto! The fans are torn while the ring count starts. Callum leaves Yuto behind long enough to refresh the count, then he stands Yuto up! Callum BOWLS Yuto into chairs! Not quite a strike, but maybe a good spare. Callum then mockingly claps for Yota while he goes back to the ring.
The ring count starts again but Callum fetches Yota at 6 of 20. Callum ROCKS Yota, tells the ref to calm it down, he’s coming back. Callum mockingly says he doesn’t know enough Japanese, but he says it in Japanese. Callum SMACKS Yota off the apron, then puts him in the ring for a KNEE-BOARD SENTON! Callum then taunts Oskar before going back to Yota. Tag to Khan and the fans rally as Khan brings Yota around. Khan kicks Yota out, argues with the ref, and that allows Zane to stomp away on Yota! The fans boo but Khan BLASTS the Knock Out Brothers. This also acts as a distraction so Zane and Callum can mug Yota.
Zane puts Yota in for Khan and Khan stands on Yota as a cocky cover, TWO! Yota is tougher than that, but Khan kicks him around and taunts him. Yota sits up and scowls but Khan dares him to throw a punch. Yota winds up but Khan trips Yota! Khan laughs but the fans boo the trick. Only to run into a FLATLINER! The fans fire up while both men are down! Khan and Yota crawl, Yota hot tags Oksar! The fans fire up as the German Giant RUNS Khan over!
Oskar BLASTS Callum, scares off Zane, then scoops Khan! But Zane makes the save to kick low and fire forearms! Khan joins in with Mongolian Chops! Khan & Zane double whip but Oskar grabs ropes! Callum runs up, but Yota pops him up to THROW him away! Cover, TWO! The fans fire up for Yota as he brings Callum up. Yota pump handles but Callum CLUBS away! Yota ROCKS Callum in the back! Yota suplexes but Calllum lands out! Callum spins, SOBATS, and LARIATS Yota!
The fans fire up while Callum stands, and Callum looks to Zane. Callum chooses not to tag, he has this! PRINCE- NO, Yota fights the lift, wrenches free, then clinches! BACKBREAKER! FLATLINER! But Callum avoids the stomp! Callum ROCKS Yota, Yota KNEES in return! Yota SUPERKICKS, but Callum LARIATS Yota down again! The fans fire up while Callum is a bit dazed. Now he tags Zane, and Zane goes up! AX HANDLE! Zane BLASTS Oskar off the corner, then stomps Yota in the other. Zane whips, Yota reverses, and Yota runs up, but into a BOOT! Zane runs up to THROWBACK CUTTER! Cover, TWO! Yota survives and the fans fire up!
Zane talks trash on the former champ, then fireman’s carries him! But Yota fights free, shoves Zane, and dodges to scoop and BACKBREAKER! Then suplex for the ORANGE CRUSH! Cover, TWO! Winners: Yota Tsuji, Oskar & Yuto-Ice, by pinfall
The Empire tried, but they were the ones conquered here tonight! Will Yota use this momentum to take back THE IWGP Heavyweight Championship? Will Oskar & Ice make sure to knock out Khan & Henare at the same time? Or will the United Empire still make this their Dominion?
Hiroshi Tanahashi steps into the ring.
The fans applaud President Ace as he takes a handful of certificates. It is Tanahashi’s honor to present special awards to some participants in this year’s BOSJ tournament, as voted on by the fans. First, for Outstanding Performance… Jun Kasai! The fans cheer as the Crazy Monkey is recognized for his great run in his first BOSJ. Second, for Fighting Spirit… Daiki Nagai! The fans cheer as the Young Lion is himself recognized for his great run in his first BOSJ, even though Daiki didn’t win a match. And lastly, for Technique… Robbie X! The fans cheer again, and Tanahashi continues by saying the vote totals will be announced later on the official website.
Along with these awards, Tanahashi says each winner will receive a monetary prize! The fans cheer that, too! Will Kasai, Daiki, and Robbie all use that money wisely, knowing they have the fans backing them?
Best of the Super Juniors 33 Finals: Kosei Fujita VS YOH!
After fighting through the round robin and even overcoming their tag team partners, the Japanese Young Punk and Direct Drive meet again, here at the very end of this tournament! Fujita was the youngest tournament winner in NJPW history last year, will he soon be the youngest back-to-back tournament winner ever? Or will Yoh finally be seen as THE Best of the Super Juniors?
Yoh changes up his attire just a bit with this absurdly high-collared jacket. But the jacket is so that he can surprise us with the one strap going across his chest! Winner: Yoh, by pinfall (Best of the Super Juniors 33 Winner)
Victory! Revenge! Vindication! All are one in the same as Yoh wins, beating Fujita in a rematch from last year, and finally wins a BOSJ tournament! Fujita falls short of a back-to-back, but will he be back for more soon enough?
As for Yoh, the banner is brought in and set up while he grabs the mic. The fans cheer him on, and he says, “I have three things to say.” The fans applaud Yoh continuing to reference Okada. “First… YAO~!” The fans cheer that shoutout to Nakamura, too. “Second… YAO~! And third… There’s nothing, really.” The fans applaud the true Chaos tribute, and Yoh tells Fujita, “You’re the best. You’re totally punk! Winning this, there’s just one more thing to do. The belt, right? I WILL be the 100th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion! And you get what that means, don’t you? “I’m going to be the one to light up NJPW! And I’ll make it rain!!”
The fans cheer, but then DOUKI appears! Japones Del Mal heads to the ring, having let the entire tournament go by without him. The 99th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion gets in Yoh’s face, but that’s so Sho can attack from behind! The fans boo as the House of Torture beats Yoh up! They always gotta ruin things! The fans boo and tell them to go away, but Douki brandishes the Black Mirror! Sho sets Yoh up, but Yoh shoves Sho into Douki! And then DOUBLE LOW BLOWS! And then SMACK for Douki, and SMACK for Sho! The fans cheer as Yoh gets the better of them both!
Yoh picks the mic back up, and he says, “I know I said there wasn’t a third thing, but now there actually is. We ought to close this the Chaos way. Let’s get the Chaos vets out here!” The fans cheer that, and Yoh says these two can play the fish. Chaos-senpai, please, c’mon! Yano hops off commentary while Yoh arranges the dead fish just right. And yes, Bishamon is still here! Goto & Hashi join Yoh and Yano in the ring, and Yoh gets the mic again. “Some of you may be wondering what this all is> We’ll have the Zanmai professional, Yoshi-Hashi, explain.” The mic is handed over, and Hashi says, “Well… Let me explain the Zanmai.”
The fans applaud, and Hashi says he and Yoh will hit the ropes, do a forward roll, and then everyone will clap as loudly as they can. Then spread your arms and shout, “HAI!” And so they rally up the fans, Yoh and Hashi run, and they roll for clap, “HAI!!” and the streamers! The fans cheer the perfect timing, but is this going to be Yoh’s time to shine? Or will Douki do everything in his power to prevent a 100th Junior Heavyweight Champion from being crowned?
My Thoughts:
A great final night for BOSJ 33, with some good tune-up type matches before going into Dominion and all the big title matches there. Unbound Company winning the Six Man Tag, there’s a chance the status quo is kept in both the “world” title and the tag title matches, it just doesn’t feel like Callum’s done enough yet before he can drop the belt right back to Tsuji. The BOSJ itself gave Callum time to rest and extend his reign, but there’s the G1 Climax to consider, and whatever story they’re trying to tell with him and Will Ospreay within the United Empire. It’s kinda the same for Khan & Henare, they’re Six Man champs with Ospreay, something has to break down there before we can move on.
I don’t recall there being awards/consolation prizes for BOSJ, this was a nice touch to show appreciation for some really talented guys. And I would think the money prizes are real, not kayfabe, so that’s fun for a Young Lion graduate like Daiki to have a little something extra to spend for the summer. And then just an awesome main event, certainly the best match of this tournament, and a lot of fun with all the references and parodies throughout. I’m personally really glad to see Yoh win, he really has put in the work to craft this rather unique character and getting over with the fans. Yoh VS Douki will be really good stuff, just not sure Dominion is big enough for NJPW to give themselves a historic 100th title change/new champion.
My Score: 8.9/10

After Triple Threat Tag: Tiger Mask & Jado VS Taiji Ishimori & Gedo VS Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Dick Togo…
To be fair, this match started turning into a 4v2 against the House of Torture, but even then, Dick knocking the ref down and choking Jado out gave Kanemaru the opening to use WHISKEY MIST! A roll up and cover, the House of Torture wins! The fans boo but the Heel Master & Spoiler indeed had to spoil Tiger Mask’s final tag match. But even so, Tiger Mask takes the mic to say, “Thank you, everyone, for coming out tonight. Last year, I announced my retirement. And now, finally, tomorrow, will be my last matches. Dynamite Kid, Tommy Billington, and Black Tiger.
“I will do my absolute best and show you the bets Tiger Mask I can tomorrow night. Until the very end, I’ll give it my all. I look forward to having your support.” The fans cheer as Tiger Mask prepares for the final battles of his career. Can this living legend ride off into the sunset one last time?
G1 Climax 36 B Block Qualifier: OSKAR VS Yujiro Takahashi w/ The House of Torture!
Yuto-Ice is already through to the Climax, having overcome Taichi in a very powerful match. But the German Giant might have the bigger challenge because The House of Torture never rolls alone. Will Oskar be able to join his Knock Out Brother in the tournament? Or will Tokyo Pimp lie, cheat, and steal his golden ticket to the top?
The bell rings and Oskar BOOTS Yujiro right down! Then NIGHTMARE SLEEPER!! Yujiro flails but he’s turning red already! But SHO rings the bell! Oskar lets go, having fallen for the trick! The fans boo but Sho plays dumb. Oskar is pissed, but then Yujiro CHOP BLOCKS Oskar’s leg! The fans boo but Yujiro drags Oskar up and TOSSES him out. Then Yujiro distracts the ref so the House can mug Oskar! The fans boo, but then Sho & Douki DOUBLE KNEE SMASH on the floor! Then they drag Oskar up, hold the leg out, and Ren JAMS it up with a chair! The fans boo but The House scurries away like the rats they are.
Yujiro goes out to fetch Oskar, put him in the ring, and stalk him. Oskar tries to stand but that bad leg won’t let him! Yujiro grabs that leg, puts it on the ropes, then stands on it! The ref counts, so Yujiro HIP DROPS the leg! Yujiro drags Oskar up, bumps him off buckles, then puts the bad leg through ropes. Oskar CLUBS away on Yujiro, but Yujiro still BOOTS the bad leg! Yujiro BOOTS it again, then brings Oskar around to snapmare. Yujiro isolates the bad leg so he can SPLASH down on it! Oskar clutches the leg, but Yujiro grabs the other, steps through, and has the FIGURE FOUR KNEEBAR! Then he reaches out to grab the ropes for leverage!
The fans boo as Oskar endures, and the ref finally notices! Yujiro lets go of the ropes but he still has Oskar tied up. Oskar fights around, Yujiro grabs ropes again, and the ref counts! Yujiro lets Oskar go this time, and the fans rally as Oskar crawls. Yujiro stalks Oskar, taunts him, then kicks the bad leg. Oskar manages to CHOP! The fans cheer as Oskar ROCKS and CHOPS Yujiro, then reels him in. But Yujiro BITES Oskar’s hand! The ref counts, Yujiro lets Oskar go, but then he blocks a kick! Akira burned bright tonight, but he could not take the crown! How much harder must he fight to become the best?
As for Yoh, he grabs the mic, and he rests on the mat as he says, “Oi, Akira. It feels like you were only at 99% today. You need to be 100% if you wanna beat me.” Yoh then holds up the title as he says, “Me and this belt, how far are we gonna go together? I’ve already decided. And you (belt) know it, as well. We’re gonna light it up together!” The fans cheer that. The 100th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion continues to roll on, what more history will he make from here on out?
My Thoughts:
A great finale to the Road to G1 Climax, and we even got some good build going into Tiger Mask’s final event. A little surprised he lost his last tag match, and that it was a Triple Threat in the first place, but in a roundabout way, that is also part of tradition. With that, I’m not sure if Tiger Mask is losing both of his final matches, or if he’s going 1-1 where he can get one last win before his true, final match. Great G1 qualifiers tonight, and I figured Oskar would find a way. Naturally, Yuto had Oskar’s back, and needing only Yuto shows the power level of the Knock Out Brothers. I was a little surprised it was Oiwa over ELP, but I wonder if ELP’s time in NJPW is coming to an end, with him going to AEW as literally just “ELP.”
Another surprise would have to be Gabe Kidd winning the Global title off Shota. Great showing for Shota, including getting busted open, but I wonder where we go from here with Gabe as Global Heavyweight Champion again. Will he come up with his own design for the belt since he literally left the current one behind? It’s a white strap right now, does he make it a black strap with a grittier looking face plate? And then great main event from Yoh VS Akira, including getting Tatsuya Matsumoto in on it as a human weapon. But I had a feeling that the 100th champion of this belt’s history would not lose it so soon. Yoh probably goes all the way to WrestleKingdom 21, and even then he might make it through that.
My Score: 8.8/10

Sho is going to do whatever he wants however he wants, and he’ll beat them all up! But then Akira trips Sho, drags him out of the ring, and throws him into railing! Winner: Yuto-Ice, by pinfall (advances to the G1 Climax)
Taichi has just been put on ice! He falls short of making the G1 this year, must he accept that his time is behind him?
As for Yuto, he gets the mic and says, “There are a lot of people in pro-wrestling who are fakers, walking around for no real reason with a smile on their face. And now, I feel I have a reason to smile! I’m damn happy to be a pro-wrestler! Taichi… I haven’t ever really spoken to you, even as a Young Lion in black tights. I never had the chance to say this, but I really like you. All that you do is straightforward and earnest, from everything you do in the ring to your attitude towards the fans. Taichi, you might put yourself down, asking if you still have a place in NJPW, but you have a place! NJPW needs you!” The fans cheer that!
The fans cheer Taichi on, and Taichi is clearly emotional. Yuto tells Taichi that he and his generation have a strength the new guys don’t. They feel that spirit in what Taichi does, and with the pain he feels. Yuto assures Taichi that for him, to keep fighting in NJPW, and to keep making Yuto stronger, he thanks Taichi for that. Yuto then sets down the mic as he and Taichi exchange things in semi-private. Yuto then continues by saying on mic that if Taichi would like, if it wouldn’t hurt, please keep an eye on him in the G1 Climax. And Korakuen, did you get that pro-wrestling high? The fans cheer that they sure did!
Yuto says whether you’re here or watching through the screen, what a cool way to spend your time. Yuto hopes they have the energy to get through and do whatever you gotta do tomorrow. If you feel it, that grind every day, just know there are plenty of people who have that same solace in pro-wrestling. From the fans to the staff to the wrestlers here, we all share that feeling. This is the reason for everyone to live life to the fullest! Keep fighting forward! They’ll keep proving that high to you! This is Yuto’s first G1, and he has that Korakuen high. Time to share the G1 high with everyone! And so, just for y’all, LET’S GET HIGH! Tch tch, BIG UP!
The fans cheer as Ice is fired up going into the G1! But will he reach the highest of highs and have his Climax?
My Thoughts:
A great night for this Road to G1 series, and honestly, that Fatal 4 Way could’ve main evented it’s own night if they wanted. Great win for Akira, he has kinda been on the outside of the title picture, so he and Yoh will have a great match on July 6th. Great win for Wolf over Hashi and for Yuto over Taichi, really establishing this newest generation in NJPW. Yuto also had a great promo to still put Taichi over for being such a great pillar of NJPW. Wolf and Yuto will have great showings in the G1, but hard to say they’ll win out. Oskar is also in the qualifying matches, and it’d be cool if he qualified to represent Knock Out Brothers in B Block while Yuto is in A Block.
My Score: 8.9/10
