G1 Climax 36 B Block: Aaron Wolf VS Zack Sabre Jr!

The NEVER Openweight Champion is among the pack on the bubble, and he’s up against his toughest test yet. Will The Front Man make the Big Bad Wolf #JustTapOut? Or can Wolf shock the world and beat the best technical wrestler in the world?

Wolf has everyone hold on, he wishes to wrestle barefoot. Wolf takes off his shoes and socks, and the fans cheer! The bell rings and ZSJ circles with Wolf. They feel things out, clinch, and ZSJ goes for an arm. ZSJ then waistlocks, rolls, and he wrangles Wolf to a facelock. Wolf fights up, slips free and has the waistlock, then he goes to top mount. ZSJ throws Wolf down, has the leg lock, but Wolf rolls free. The fans cheer this opening exchange as the two reset. They feel things out again, and Wolf trips ZSJ! ZSJ is a bit surprised, and he gets up to reset with Wolf again. They feel things out, clinch with one part collar ‘n’ elbow, one part wristlock.

ZSJ avoids the takedown, wrenches to top wristlock, but Wolf stays up. Wolf arm-drags ZSJ down, covers, ONE! The fans cheer as ZSJ backs away. ZSJ resets with Wolf, they circle again, and they feel it out again. They clinch, ZSJ wristlocks, then goes for a leg, but Wolf sits down for the leg guard. ZSJ jumps over to get an arm, then floats around to keep Wolf down. ZSJ traps one arm, grabs the other, CLARKY CAT! Wolf powers up, fights around, but ZSJ shifts to have a wristlock and headscissors. Wolf pops free of the headscissors but ZSJ fights off Wolf’s attempt at an armlock. Wolf goes to the legs, turns ZSJ over, then facelocks.

Wolf rolls ZSJ and floats, but ZSJ bridges to get free! The fans cheer this newest exchange as the two back away. They circle yet again, and feel out another grapple. They collar ‘n’ elbow, but then Wolf trips ZSJ again. ZSJ scrambles to a corner but Wolf pursues. The ref has Wolf back away as ZSJ is in the ropes. The fans applaud as Wolf waits on ZSJ. ZSJ stands, he and Wolf circle again, and they tie up with wristlocks. ZSJ goes after an arm for a double wristlock but Wolf fights it. ZSJ shifts the angle to have a standing armlock, but Wolf rolls and facelocks. ZSJ backs up to the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer while Wolf lets go.

Wolf pats ZSJ on the shoulders, but ZSJ pie faces! The fans cheer as Wolf fires a forearm, and ZSJ UPPERCUTS! Wolf fires another forearm, ZSJ fires another UPPERCUT, repeat! ZSJ fires a flurry of UPPERCUTS, but Wolf hooks on! ZSJ fights the backslide, so Wolf spins, SAYA- COBRA TWIST! ZSJ catches Wolf but Wolf powers out to IPPON! Then ELBOW FLOP as ZSJ moves! Wolf clutches his arm but ZSJ kneels on him. ZSJ grabs the arm, bends the fingers, then isolates the arm to STOMP it! The fans cheer while Wolf clutches his arm. ZSJ talks trash on Wolf, then drags him around to step over, trap the arm, then TWIST!

Wolf writhes and scrambles away, but the fans cheer ZSJ. ZSJ talks some trash but the fans rally back up for Wolf. Wolf shakes out the bad arm but ZSJ kicks at him. ZSJ KICKS Wolf int he back, then follows him as he rolls away. ZSJ scuffs Wolf, scuffs him again, then eggs him on. Wolf rises up, ZSJ keeps pushing him, so Wolf CHOPS! ZSJ brushes it off, sits Wolf up, and Wolf CHOPS again! That one stings a bit more, but ZSJ still comes back for more. Wolf CHOPS, but ZSJ UPPERCUTS the arm! The fans rally up as ZSJ KICKS Wolf! And KICKS! And KICKS but Wolf blocks! Wolf THROWS ZSJ down, then ELBOW DROPS!

The fans cheer while both men are down this time. Wolf shakes out the bad arm, the fans rally up, and ZSJ goes to a corner. Wolf runs corner to corner, and he LARIATS! Wolf reels ZSJ in, but ZSJ turns that into a GUILLOTINE FACELOCK! Then he traps an arm, too! But Wolf powers through to suplex! Wolf holds ZSJ up, the fans cheer, and Wolf SLAMS ZSJ at TEN! Cover, TWO! ZSJ toughs it out, but Wolf shakes out the bad arm. Wolf fires up, storms up on ZSJ, and brings him up. Wolf fireman’s carries, but ZSJ flails! ZSJ slips free, and has the IRON OCTOPUS! The fans fire up as Wolf endures again!

Wolf manages to stay up, but ZSJ gets a full headscissor in the hold! Wolf powers up, and he marches his way to the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer while ZSJ lets go in frustration. ZSJ storms back to Wolf, drags him up, and goes to scoop, but Wolf fights with elbows. Wolf has the GUILLOTINE FACELOCK! But ZSJ powers up and wrenches right out! ZSJ has the double wristlcok, then steps over to have a standing DISARMER! Wolf pushes ZSJ down but ZSJ fights to get a TRIANGLE HOLD! But Wolf deadlifts ZSJ! And shifts to POWERSLAM! The fans fire up, Wolf covers, TWO! ZSJ survives, but Wolf wants the Katagatame!

ZSJ fights the head ‘n’ arm, but Wolf floats around to then push ZSJ. ZSJ fights it from the other angle, only to get caught on the first side! KATAGATAME!! ZSJ endures, Wolf pulls on the hold, but ZSJ uses that to get a cradle! TWO!! Wolf is up, but ZSJ BOOTS him! Wolf catches ZSJ to the URENAGE! And KATAGATAME!! ZSJ reaches out but he looks to be fading already! The fans rally harder as Wolf squeezes tighter! ZSJ gets a second gasp and he kicks his way to the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer while Wolf lets go. Wolf pounds the mat, the fans fire up, and Wolf brings ZSJ up. ZSJ flops to the ropes, but Wolf brings him up again.

ZSJ SLAPS Wolf! And SLAPS! And SLAPS! The fans fire up as Wolf snarls. ZSJ fires SLAP after SLAP from all sides, but Wolf SAYANAGIS! Then he drags ZSJ up to SAYANAGI again! And SAYANAGI again! The fans cheer the hattrick but Wolf still holds onto the arm. Wolf brings ZSJ up, but ZSJ scoops! ZACK DRIVER! Cover, TWO!! But ZSJ shifts to the ARMBAR! Wolf flails, fights around, but ZSJ puts on the pressure! ARMLOCK behind the back! And then a TRIANGLE HOLD! Wolf fights but ZSJ has the DISARMER!! Wolf reaches out but ZSJ reaches back to get the arm! DOUBLE ARMBAR! Wolf endures, even as ZSJ pulls!

The fans rally as hard as they can for Wolf, and he powers his way forward, to the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer while ZSJ lets go in frustration. ZSJ stomps Wolf as the fans rally up. ZSJ kicks Wolf, eggs him on, and Wolf rises. ZSJ KICKS and KICKS but Wolf just gets mad! ZSJ runs, into a LARIAT!! Wolf fights through the pain to fireman’s carry, DEATH VALLEY BOMB! Cover, TWO! Wolf fires up again, ANGLE- NO, ZSJ arm-drags, then he slips through, ghost pin! ZSJ WINS!!

G1 Climax 36 B Block: Gabe Kidd VS Ren Narita!

The Mad Man was leading this block up until last round, and now he must scratch and claw his way back up. But will the IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion make the playoffs elite? Or will this Souled Out Son of Strong Style steal the whole thing out from under him?

Gabe gets a hot start as he CHUCKS a chair at the ring! Ren rushes Gabe while Gabe grabs another chair, and Gabe kicks Ren low! They brawl, the fans rally, but the ref reprimands, this isn’t even a match yet! Gabe SMACKS Ren off the apron, then follows him out into the crowd. Gabe takes off his jacket, but then Ren SPITS water in Gabe’s eyes! Ren CLUBS away on Gabe, then brings him around the back to throw into the wall! Gabe staggers around but Ren storms up. Gabe RAMS low, CLUBS Ren, and the ref wants this in the ring! Gabe JAMS Ren with a chair, SMACKS him on the back, then follows him into the crowd!

The fans hurry aside as Ren stumbles around, and Gabe pursues, armed with another chair! But Ren uses someone’s umbrella to JAM Gabe up! Ren brings Gabe around, and they go up into the stands! Ren SMACKS Gabe off a bleacher, then has fans move aside. Ren is aiming for the floor, but Gabe DECKS him! Gabe grabs a chair to SMACK Ren! The fans are torn, Gabe flips off the haters, but Ren JAMS Gabe up with a chair! Ren SMACKS Gabe down, and this might be the only time Ren gets cheers. Then Ren reels Gabe in! Gabe fights the suplex, wrenches free, and BITES Ren’s forehead! The fans boo but Gabe ROCKS Ren!

Ren stumbles down the stairs and back to ground level. Gabe whips Ren hard into railing! The fans boo but Gabe flips them off to then stand Ren up. Ren CHOKES Gabe, then BOWLS him into chairs! Not quite a strike, but then Ren has more fans clear out. Ren and Gabe brawl along the west section, Gabe HEADBUTTS, and Ren staggers away. Gabe pursues, CLUBS away on Ren, then goes back to get space. Gabe runs down the entire aisle, then CLOBBERS Ren! Gabe SMACKS Ren off railing, then brings him up into the orange seats! The fans cheer as Ren CLAWS Gabe’s face, then SMACKS him off the wall!

The fans rally but the ref still wants this in the ring! Gabe CHOKES Ren with an umbrella as payback for earlier! The fans boo, Gabe stops, and Gabe soaks up the heat. Gabe goes back for Ren, but Ren JAMS Gabe up with that umbrella! And CHOKES him again! And then BITES Gabe’s forehead! Talk a bout a taste of your own medicine! Ren then shoves Gabe, fires forearms, and follows him towards the steps. Ren CHOKES Gabe again, and doesn’t stop until Gabe is on the floor! Gabe sputters and coughs but Ren drags Gabe up. Gabe ROCKS Ren! Then he aims for the stairwell!! The fans freak out, the ref reprimands, but DICK TOGO & SHO appear!

Dick catches Gabe with the SPOILER’S CHOKER! Again, a rare occasion, the fans cheer The House of Torture mugging Gabe! Ren then gets a SLEEPER on Gabe and drags him down to the floor! Wait, what’re Sho & Dick up to? They fetch a TABLE?! They bring it all the way up to where Ren has Gabe and set it up! Ren lets Gabe go, and fans have to move aside for their own safety. Then The House puts Gabe on the table, and Ren vows to end it! Ren climbs up onto the railing, but Gabe breaks free! Gabe DECKS Sho, KICKS Ren, and reels him in! But Dick attacks! The fans are torn as the mugging continues.

Ren & Dick get Gabe up, but he fights free again! Gabe ROCKS Ren, reels him in, and lifts for a POWERBOMB down through the table!! Ren then tumbles down into the stands! The fans are stunned, this is certainly a rare sight in Korakuen Hall. Gabe SMASHES what’s left of the table, then soaks up the heat. Gabe storms down the stands after Ren, and DECKS a Young Lion just because he was there! Gabe drags Ren up with a headlock, DUMPS him over the railing, then stalks him to ringside. Gabe shoves the ref along, telling him to go to the ring then. Gabe then drags Ren up, puts him in the ring, and we finally have a bell!

The fans cheer, Ren LOW BLOWS behind the ref’s back!! And then DOUBLE CROSSER!!! Cover, TWO!! Gabe survives and the fans fire up! The fans rally behind Ren as he and Gabe stir. Ren crawls to the apron, then crawls to a corner, and he drags himself up. The fans rally harder as Ren climbs up, though slowly. Gabe stands, but he SHOVES the ref into the ropes! Ren falls onto the corner, then Gabe fires HEADBUTT after HEADBUTT! Gabe rolls, runs, and KNEES Ren! Gabe then hauls Ren off the corner to PILEDRIVER! And then he reels Ren back in, LEG TRAP DRIVER!! Cover, Gabe wins!

The official time won’t even cover the half of it, literally, but Gabe takes back the top spot! Gabe takes the mic to say, “Two more points, and a semifinal match. And to Shota Umino, well done in your G1.” The fans boo as Gabe rubs salt in the wound, but it doesn’t change the result. Can someone, anyone, stop this Mad Man from taking over the company he despises?

G1 Climax 36 B Block: Yuya Uemura VS OSKAR!

The Heat Storm is burning with awesome power, but his final test is the Giant German! Can Yuya shine as bright as the sun in this final round? Or will Oskar make it all a Nightmare?

Oskar attacks Yuya during his sun pose! Oskar knocks Yuya down, stomps away, then digs his boots in! The fans are upset, the ref reprimands, and Oskar backs off for the bell to ring. Oskar them stomps Yuya again, but the ref has him back off. Yuya takes the jacket off, but Oskar drags him up to CULB him down! Oskar stomps Yuya again, then kneels on Yuya’s neck! Oskar KNEE DROPS on Yuya’s back, then paces around while the fans rally up. Oskar then aims, but Yuya UP KICKS before he can elbow drop! Yuya fires forearms, but Oskar runs up. Yuya dodges to fire another forearm, then he dodges the boot to ROCK Oskar!

Oskar rebounds, but he blocks the arm-drag! Oskar guzels, puts Yuya in a corner, then THROWS him across the way! The fans do cheer that, and Oskar smirks as he hears the fans dueling. Yuya rises in the corner, Oskar runs up, but Yuyya BOOTS back! Yuya goes up, leaps over Oskar, then comes back. Oskar kicks low, whips Yuya to a corner, but Yuya goes up, only to get caught! SNAKE EYES off the ropes, then a BOOT to knock him down! The fans fire up and Oskar tells them to calm down. Oskar goes back to Yuya, drags him up, and whips him to a corner hard! Yuya hits buckles then falls, and the fans cheer.

Oskar kicks at Yuya, drags him up, but Yuya fires forearms. Oskar still whips corner to corner again, and just as hard! Yuya falls, Oskar covers, TWO! The fans cheer and they rally behind Yuya stronger now. Oskar scowls, but he drags Yuya up to hit a BIG back suplex! Then he flips Yuya over, into the CAMEL CLUTCH! Yuya endures being bent back while the fans rally up. Yuya fights and frees his arms, but Oskar keeps on the chinlock portion. Yuya crawls, reaches out, and makes the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer but Oskar holds until the ref counts 4. Oskar paces while the fans continue to rally. Oskar drags Yuya up from the corner to CHOP!

Yuya staggers to the corner, Oskar runs in, but Yuya avoids the boot! Yuya grabs an arm, top wristlock and YANK! Oskar staggers back, but he blocks the arm-drag to SLAM Yuya down! Oskar runs, but Yuya avoids the leg drop! Yuya hurries to arm-drag! And DROPKICK! Oskar falls and the fans fire up! Yuya rises at the ropes, goes to a corner, and he fires up to run corner to corner! STINGER SPLASH! Then he reels Oskar in, but Oskar’s too tall to scoop! Yuya still tries, but Oskar CLUBS away! Oskar CLUBS Yuya down, then scoops, but Yuya slips free! Yuya waistlocks, Oskar elbows free, then whips, only for Yuya to reverse!

Yuya CHOPS, then runs, but Oskar TOSSES him out! Yuya skins the cat! The fans cheer, and Yuya DUMPS Oskar out! The fans fire up as Yuya builds speed to PLANCHA! Down goes Oskar and the fans fire up again! The ring count starts while both men are down, but Yuya rises already. Yuya stands at 7 of 20, then brings Oskar up at 10. Yuya puts Oskar in the ring at 11, then hurries after. Yuya YANKS Oskar’s arm, SLAMS it off the mat, then steps through to SNAP LOCK the arm! Then Yuya hurries to step over, ARMBAR! Oskar clasps hands to fight it off! Yuya still pulls, but Oskar turns, stacks Yuya, but Yuya pulls harder on the arm!

Oskar kicks away, is free of the hold, and DROPS THE LEG, BROTHER! Cover, TWO! Yuya survives and the fans fire up again. Oskar huffs ‘n’ puffs and storms over to stomp Yuya down. Oskar drags Yuya up, whips him corner to corner hard, then runs in! Yuya dodges and Oskar hits buckles! Yuya scoops and SLAMS! The fans fire up with Yuya, and he goes for the ARMBAR! Oskar flails, fights, but Yuya wrangles him down! Oskar reaches out, and his long leg saves him with a ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer, and Yuya lets go in frustration. Yuya roars as he rises up, and the fans fire up with him. Yuya brings Oskar up to CHOP!

Yuya wrenches and reels Oskar in, but Oskar fights the back suplex! Oskar CLUBS Yuya again and again, but Yuya wrenches to an ELBOW BREAKER! And ELBOW BREAKER! And ELBOW- NIGHTMARE SLEEPER!! Oskar has Yuya now, but Yuya reaches out! The fans rally, but Yuya’s fading! Oskar brings Yuya back to center! The ref checks, and the arm drops once! The arm drops twice! But then Yuya revives! Only for Oskar to NIGHTMARE SWING! But Oskar’s bad arm can’t hold Yuya any longer! The fans rally as Yuya is free and Oskar clutches his elbow. Oskar goes to a corner, shakes out the arms, then runs up on Yuya! Yuya slips around to SAIDO! Cover, TWO!

But into a DOUBLE WRISTLOCK!! Yuya pushes on the arm, almost full Kimura, then he drags Oskar from the ropes! DOUBLE WRISTLOCK!! Oskar kicks, pushes up, and he RAMS Yuya into a corner! But Yuya holds on! Oskar scoops, but Yuya uses that for a takedown! KIMURA!! Oskar flails, moves around, reaches out, but Yuya rolls Oskar away! They stand, Oskar lifts, and he HOTSHOTS Yuya! Yuya sputters, Oskar scoops again, and POWERSLAMS! Cover, TWO!! Yuya survives and the fans fire up again! Both men are down as Oskar shakes out the bad arm. Oskar rises, scoops, but Yuya flails! Yuya slips free, full nelsons, but Oskar powers the hold apart!

Yuya waistlocks, Oskar fires elbows, but Yuya still GERMAN SUPLEXES! Bridging cover, TWO! Oskar survives and the fans fire up again! Yuya rises and he roars again! Yuya drags Oskar up, clamps onto the arms, but Oskar slips under! NIGHTMARE SLEEPER!! Yuya endures, he pries the hold open, but Oskar clamps it on! NIGHTMARE BUSTER!! Cover, TWO!! Yuya survives and the fans are thunderous! Oskar slaps himself to fire back up, and he drags Yuya to his feet. Oskar scoops, but Yuya flails again! Oskar powers Yuya in place, TOMBSTONE!! Oskar roars, because he isn’t done! Oskar drags Yuya up with both hands!

Oksar lifts, BERLIN- RANA! Yuya has the ARMBAR!! The fans are thunderous as Oskar reaches out, fights around, but he can’t! OSKAR TAPS, YUYA WINS!!

Oskar could not withstand the heat, and now he is OUT of the running! And with this win, Yuya guarantees himself a spot in the semifinals! This puts Gabe Kidd back on the hotseat, is The Mad Man about to get burned?

It all comes down to this! The Prince wants back to the finals, but his own United Empire ally stands in his way. The Mauler cannot make it, but will he really drag Callum down with him? Or will Henare Kiss the Crown?

Callum offers a fist bump, but Henare powers up with the haka! The fans cheer that, and clearly Henare wants Callum to earn his way. The bell rings, the fans fire up, and the two circle. They feel things out, knuckle lock, then break. They go again, tie up collar ‘n’ elbow, and are in a deadlock. Henare pushes Callum back a step, but Callum manages to push Henare back. Henare powers up to put Callum on the ropes, and Red Shoes calls for the break. Henare backs off slowly, but then Callum turns things around to CHOP! The fans cheer but Henare is stoic. Callum dodges Henare, kicks and whips, but Henare reverses.

They RAM shoulders, Henare rebounds to RUN Callum over! Callum kips back up to ROCK Henare! Callum runs, Henare dodges the boot, but Callum dodges again! Callum ducks ‘n’ dodges, then BOOTS Henare down! The fans cheer but Henare’s right up, SAMOAN DROP! RUGBY KICK! Cover, TWO! Henare hurries to haul Callum up, but Callum wrenches free, but Henare catches him, only for Callum to spin through! Callum facelocks, Henare wrenches free, but Callum ducks the forearm! Callum kicks, kicks, but Henare ducks a kick! Callum dodges a lariat, and the fans cheer this fast ‘n’ furious first exchange!

Callum bails out, paces around the outside, then slides back in. Callum kicks Henare, boots him, and taunts the “mana.” Callum lets Henare have a free shot, so Henare DECKS him! The fans cheer while Callum sputters, then Henare brings Callum back up. Henare HEADBUTTS Callum and watches him stagger around. Henare CLUBS Callum, but Callum eggs him on. Henare CHOPS and Callum sputters away. Henare stalks Callum, drags him up, and ROCKS him! Henare ROCKS Callum, eggs him on, and fires another forearm. Callum turns things around to fire a flurry, but Henare CHOPS and CLUBS Callum on repeat!

The fans cheer, and Henare gets in Callum’s face. Callum fires a forearm but Henare keeps him cornered. Callum throws shot after shot, then HEDABUTTS! Callum’s the one that falls back! The fans cheer while Henare looms over Callum. Henare stands Callum up, whips him corner to corner, but Callum reverses. Callum BOOTS, Henare CHOPS, then Henare runs. But Callum trips Henare, EXCALIBUR! Henare bails out while the fans fire up! Callum goes out to fetch Henare, then whips him hard into railing! Then Callum BOOTS Henare over the railing! Henare lands in the laps of the front row! Callum hurries after and the fans have to move aside.

Callum ROCKS Henare, sits him down in a chair, then BOOTS him! Henare leans back but stays in the chair. Callum clears out another section of the fans, and runs back up on Henare, EXCALIBUR in the chair! Henare falls over, clutching a bit low on his stomach. Did Callum perhaps clip the “mana” by accident? Red Shoes checks on Henare while Callum goes back to ringside. Callum looks under the ring, and he brings out a table! Then he adds another table! The fans are torn as Callum sets those up side by side, then fetches Henare. Callum brings Henare around, mockingly says it’s been a long time since he’s seen Henare, then CHOPS!

Callum brings Henare in, and PRINC- NO, Henare fights the lift, and has the DEATH GRIP! Callum RAMS Henare into railing again! Callum puts Henare back in the ring and the fans applaud. Callum takes aim from a corner, and runs up to KNEE Henare down! Cover, TWO! Henare is tougher than that, and the fans rally up again. Callum paces around, mocks the haka, then kicks at Henare. Callum eggs Henare on, scuffs him, then stands Henare up. Callum ROCKS Henare, talks more trash, then CHOPS! Callum whips, Henare reverses, and SAMOAN DROP again! The fans fire up while both men are down!

Henare clutches his back but he rises up first. Callum crawls, but Henare stomps him. Henare stomps Callum again, then CHOPS him on the back. Henare reels Callum in, suplexes, but Callum slips free! Callum ducks ‘n’ dodges, but runs into the BERSERKER BOMB! Cover, TWO! Callum survives, but Henare stalks him. Henare runs up in the corner, but Callum BOOTS and ENZIGIRIS! Henare ducks the heel kick, but not the elbow, ROLLING ELBOW, or SUPERKICK! The fans fire up while both men are down again! Henare crawls to the apron, but Callum follows. Callum points to his tables and the fans rally up again.

Callum brings Henare up, winds up, and fires a forearm! And fires another! Henare ROCKS Callum in return! The fans rally again as Callum sits back. Callum grins as he stands back up, and he BOOTS Henare! And BOOTS! And BOOTS! Henare DECKS Callum! The fans continue to rally as Henare stands Callum back up. Callum ROUNDHOUSES! But Henare just grits his teeth! The fans fire up, but Callum JUMP KNEES! Henare wobbles, Callum SPITS on him, so Henare BODY BLOWS! And he RAMPAGES down through the tables! The fans go nuts seeing both men crash down, and Red Shoes hurries to check Callum.

Callum is okay to continue, and the fans rally up. Henare hobbles away as the ring count starts. Henare rolls into the ring at 7 of 20, and Callum sits up. We can see the massive bruise on Callum’s back as he turns over, but he’s still down at 15! The fans rally as the count reaches 17, then 18! Callum springs to life at 19! But then Henare SENTONS! And SENTONS again! Cover, TWO!! Henare aims from a corner as Callum drags himself back up. Henare runs corner to corner, and LARIATS! Henare keeps moving, Callum blocks the lariat, but Henare LARIATS on the rebound! Cover, TWO!! Henare stands Callum up, just to LARIAT him back down! Cover, TWO!!

The fans fire up again as Henare goes to the corner! Henare runs corner to corner, but into a JUMP KNEE! Both men are down and the fans fire back up! Henare sputters, Callum sits up, and the fans rally again. Both men crawl to center and go forehead to forehead. Henare fires a forearm! Callum fires back! Henare nods and winds up, to fire another forearm! Callum grits his teeth as he fires another forearm. Henare stands, eggs Callum on, and Callum stands, just for Henare to DECK him! The fans fire up, and Callum checks his teeth. Callum stands, then smirks. Callum puts some stank on the KICK! Henare gris his teeth, then he smirks.

Henare winds up and ROCKS Callum! Callum staggers back to the ropes, but he comes back to KICK! Henare fires up, and braces himself! Callum KICKS, KICKS, KICKS! Henare CHOPS Callum down! Callum sits up, into a RUGBY KICK! Henare whips, but Callum springboards, OSCUTTER 2.0! And he holds on to drag Henare up, PRINCE’S CURSE!! Cover, TWO!! Henare survives and the fans fire up again! Callum snarls, he drags Henare up, and he reels Henare in for knees. Henare just stands up, blocks a shot, but then Callum blocks to KICK! Callum stands Henare up but Henare CHOPS! Callum ROCKS! Henare HEEL KICKS! Callum LARIATS!

Both men are down again and the fans fire up! The fans rally as Callum slowly turns over so he can push up. Callum roars and the fans fire up again. Callum stands, he huffs ‘n’ puffs and goes back for Henare. Callum drags Henare up, fireman’s carries, but Henare slips free. Henare goes for the full nelson but Callum ELBOWS free! Callum runs, but into a RAMPAGE!! Cover, TWO!! Callum survives but Henare is right after him! Callum fights the lift, BACKDROPS free, but Henare sunset flips! Callum sits on the cover, TWO! Henare POP-UP POWERBOMBS! Then a flip over and- NO, Callum fireman’s carry! SAMOAN DRIVER! Cover, TWO!!

The fans fire up again while both men are down! We pass 20 minutes, making this one of the longer matches in this year’s G1. Callum undoes the wrist tape to show off the tattoo. Callum drags Henare up, winds up, KISS THE- HEADBUTT! Then BODY BLOW! Callum coughs and sputters while he flounders around. Callum still rises, but Henare catches him into ULTIMA WEAPON! Callum endures, but he fights up and runs to the ropes! He HOTSHOTS Henare away, then SUPERKICKS! Callum runs up, Henare ducks ‘n’ dodges to BATTERING RAM HEADBUTT!! Cover, TWO!?!

The fans fire up and Henare takes off his elbow pad! HIDDEN BLADE!??! Cover, TWO!!! The fans are thunderous as Henare lifts, but Callum slips free! KISS THE CROWN!! Cover, TWO, but Callum hurries to stand Henare up! COMEBACKER KISS THE CROWN!! Cover, TWO!! Henare survives again, so Callum winds up, KISS THE CROWN!! And then a fireman’s carry, MAKE WAY!! Cover, Callum wins!

Winner: Callum Newman, by pinfall (gains 2 points; Henare earns 0)

Henare definitely made Callum earn this one! And Callum’s win means Gabe Kidd is OUT! No more Mad Man in the G1! Callum hurries to get the mic to tell Henare, in Japanese, “You’re damn strong!” The fans applaud that! Then in English, Callum says, “You are the scariest person I’ve ever met in my life. But me winning today just cements the fact of why I am the leader of the United Empire. And I know where your loyalties lie. It might be with that other p*ick over in AEW, but just so you know, we’re in Japan, I’m the boss.” The fans are a bit torn over that comment, but Henare leaves it alone.

Callum then tells the fans, “I have put my body through so much this tour, with a point to prove and a chip on my shoulder. So, The Grip, I’ll see you at Ryogoku. And you’re gonna do what everyone else does, buddy. And that’s Make Way for The Prince, and Kiss the Crown!” Callum sends his message short and sweet, but will he taste sweet victory in the semifinals this Saturday?

My Thoughts:

A great final round, and a touch more dramatic and uncertain compared to A Block. Gabe winning to then be cut off in the block by Yuya and Callum winning is some good, “real sports” feel to this. Even so, Gabe will (eventually) return to AEW victorious in that he got 6-3 and a title. Wolf VS ZSJ was a great wrestling match, as in it truly had some good wrestling. But ZSJ winning out makes sense, even a former world champion should beat out the newer NEVER Champion. And Yuya and Callum winning works to parallel A Block, it’s all NJPW guys and not AEW/part-time guys. Callum VS Oiwa and Yuya VS Yota will be great matches, and it’s still anyone’s game.
