G1 Climax 36 B Block: “Drilla” Dan Moloney VS Zack Sabre Jr!

Another Battle of the Brits in B Block, but both of them are coming off losses. Will 44 Caliber reload and get back up? Or will The Front Man survive another round?

The bell rings, the fans rally, and the two circle. They feel things out, tie up, and Drilla waistlocks. ZSJ switches, Drilla hooks a leg, and he pries the hold open. ZSJ tries a chinbar but Drilla still wrenches through to a wristlock. ZSJ rolls, hooks a leg, but Drilla wrangles him. ZSJ moves around, rolls, and bridges, then spins through and wrenches to a top wristlock. The fans cheer the technical prowess, then cheer as ZSJ powers Drilla down to the mat. Drilla stands up, spins, slips through, wrenches back, then hammerlocks. ZSJ squats, uses the British Escape, wrenches to a hammerlock, then spins Drilla to hit the single leg takedown.

ZSJ has one foot trapped and the other in a toehold. The fans rally as Drilla fights free, and rolls to throw ZSJ! ZSJ stands, Drilla hits a single leg, but ZSJ fights off the toehold. ZSJ rolls but Drilla cartwheels through. ZSJ headlocks, Drilla powers out to headlock takeover, but ZSJ headscissors. The fans applaud the exchange, and Drilla bridges. ZSJ SLAPS Drilla back down, but Drilla hooks ZSJ’s leg. Drilla moves around, ZSJ holds tight, but Drilla still pops free. Drilla then shoves ZSJ down, and he has the toehold in return. ZSJ turns over, stands, wrenches, but Drilla WRINGS the arm, only for ZSJ to roll through. The fans cheer as the two reset.

Drilla and ZSJ circle, feel out a knuckle lock, and even go forehead to forehead as they fight for control. Drilla arm-drags, then runs up, but ZSJ whips him away. Drilla blocks the cobra twist attempt, spins ZSJ, but ZSJ fights the backslide. Drilla spins ZSJ, snapmares, but ZSJ slips free of the headlock to hammerlock. Drilla reaches back and HIP TOSSES free! The fans cheer that exchange while ZSJ bails out. ZSJ paces while the fans cheer, then he steps back inside. The fans cheer again as the two circle. They feel out another knuckle lock, then ZSJ kicks one to UPPERCUT! ZSJ headlocks, Drilla powers out, then Drilla hurdles, drops down, only for ZSJ to avoid the dropkick!

ZSJ runs, but Drilla sweeps the leg and drags him outside! Then Drilla slips inside, SMACKS ZSJ off the apron, and he builds speed! The fans fire up as Drilla- NO, ZSJ catches the dropkick to an ANKLE LOCK! Drilla BOOTS free, then storms up on ZSJ to put him in the ring. The fans applaud, and Drilla slides back in, but into a NECK TWIST! The fans rally while Drilla is down and ZSJ catches his breath. ZSJ stands Drilla up to UPPERCUT, then has him in the corner for another UPPERCUT! ZSJ drags Drilla to center, traps a leg, then goes for an arm. Drilla resists but ZSJ digs a forearm into his face. ZSJ then gets a hand, and bends the fingers!

The ref reprimands but fans rally as ZSJ traps that arm, then tortures the other! ZSJ bends all the fingers, but then Drilla headscissors! ZSJ fights that, and turns it into a toehold! ZSJ then goes back to the hands, and STOMPS one! The fans cheer while Drilla clutches his finger. ZSJ clamps onto Drilla, wants the straitjacket, but Drilla resists. ZSJ digs his elbow into Drilla’s face, then gets the arms. ZSJ pulls on the straitjacket stretch, digging his knee into Drilla’s back. Drilla endures, fights up, and he fights free of the jacket! Then Drilla UPPERCUTS! ZSJ UPPERCUTS back! Drila snarls, the fans fire up, and Drilla UPPERCUTS again!

ZSJ UPPERCUTS, Drilla UPPERCUTS, repeat! Drilla snarls again, fires a flurry of UPPERCUTS, but ZSJ UPPERCUTS in return! ZSJ runs, but into a DROPKICK! The fans cheer while both men are down! ZSJ and Drilla rise up, and Drilla CHOPS! ZSJ drops back to his knees, but Drilla stands ZSJ up to CHOP him again! Then Drilla ripcord CHOPS! The fans cheer as Drilla runs corner to corner, but ZSJ BOOTS him! ZSJ sunset flips, but Drilla stay sup, and NECK TWISTS! The fans cheer as Drilla gets some payback, then a SPINEBUSTER! Cover, TWO! ZSJ survives, but Drilla drags him into the drop zone!

The fans cheer as Drilla climbs up, takes aim, and MACHO- NO, ZSJ catches him to a headscissor and ARMBAR! Drilla clasps hands and even bridges to fight the hold, then he moves around. But ZSJ reels him into a TRIANGLE HOLD! The fans rally as Drilla endures, and he deadlifts ZSJ! POWERBOMB! Both men are down again as the fans fire back up! Drilla shakes out the bad arm, ZSJ sits up, and they both go to ropes. The fans rally as Drilla steps up, and ZSJ meets him at center. Drilla fires a forearm, but that only hurts Drilla! ZSJ UPPERCUTS, Drilla fires with the left, but that’s still not easy. ZSJ wrenches and ELBOW BREAKERS the bad arm!

Drilla grits his teeth, and he HEADBUTTS ZSJ! ZSJ sits back down, the fans rally, and ZSJ manages to stand back up. ZSJ HEADBUTTS Drilla! Drilla is up fast and he fires boxing elbows! ZSJ UPPERCUTS, runs, but Drilla hurdles, only for ZSJ to drop down on the dropdown! But Drilla stops the Leg Roll to then body scissor ZSJ! JAPANESE LE- NO, ZSJ has Drilla in a REAR NAKED CHOKE! Drilla fights, rolls back to a cover, TWO!! ZSJ lets go in time, but then Drilla ripcords and- NO, ZSJ blocks the chop to UPPERCUT the arm! Then ZSJ snatches Drilla into the FUJIWARA! Omoplata! GROUND OCTOPUS! Drilla endures, fights forward, and makes the ROPEBREAK!

The fans cheer as ZSJ lets go in frustration. Drilla clutches the bad arm, ZSJ stands, and the fans cheer again. ZSJ KICKS Drilla in the chest! Drilla coughs and sputters, but then he sits up. ZSJ KICKS him again! Drilla eggs ZSJ on, then ducks a kick to SAIDO! ZSJ stands up, SUPERKICK! Drilla reloads, GORE!! Cover, TWO!! ZSJ survives and the fans fire up again! Drilla rises, storms over to ZSJ, and reels him in. But the bad arm won’t let him lift! Drilla still tries, using his good arm, but that’s not enough! Drilla roars in anger, the fans fire up, and Drilla powers through, only for ZSJ to slip into the GUILLOTINE FACELOCK!

The fans rally and duel as Drilla endures. Drilla powers up, powers free, and SUPLEXES ZSJ away! The fans fire up while both men are down again! Drilla roars once more and brings ZSJ back in. But ZSJ slips under, UPPERCUTS, and UPPERCUTS! And UP- NO, Drilla hooks him, spins him, and lifts! ZSJ slips free, but Drilla has the arms hooked! Drilla flips ZSJ, DRILLA- NO, ZSJ slips free again! ZSJ dragon sleepers, Drilla turns around, but ZSJ uses that to scoop and SABRE DRIVER!! Cover, TWO!! Drilla survives and the fans are thunderous! ZSJ is frustrated, but he crawls back over to Drilla.

The Heat Storm was cheated by the House of Torture, the Mauler could not humble the Mad Man, and now only one can rebound. Will Yuya turn up the heat? Or will Henare conquer him for the United Empire?

The bell rings and the fans rally as the two stare down. They slowly circle, then tie up. They’re in a deadlock, then break. Henare flexes, the fans cheer, but Yuya brushes that off. They circle again, tie up, and Yuya headlocks. Henare powers up and out, but Yuya RAMS him! Henare stays put and the fans applaud. Yuya runs, RAMS Henare again, but Henare ROCKS Yuya! Henare runs, but into an arm-drag! Henare still RUNS Yuya over on return! Henare then runs, but Yuya avoids the Rugby Kick to arm-drag again! Yuya has the armlock while the fans cheer. Henare fights up, and he powers Yuya to ropes, then the corner.

The ref counts the break, but Henare whips corner to corner. Henare runs up, but into another arm-drag! The fans cheer as Yuya has the armlock again. Henare fights around, rises up, but Yuya wrenches to a wristlock. Yuya YANKS the arm, goes to the corner, but Henare turns things around. The ref counts, Henare backs off slowly, but then he CHOPS! The ref reprimands, but Henare CHOPS again! And CHOPS again, then CLUBS Yuya, and repeat! Yuya turns things around to CHOP, CHOP, CHOP! Henare turns things back around to CHOP and CLUB on repeat! Wait a minute, Dick Togo is walking right behind Wolf, even copying his movements! Wolf turns around, expecting to high-five a Young Lion, and Dick SLAPS him! The fans boo, the ref reprimands, but Dick soaks up heat while Ren goes out to CLUB Wolf! Ren then brings Wolf around to whip him into railing! The fans boo more but Ren distracts the ref now so that Dick can whip Wolf, only for Wolf to reverse! Dick hits railing and falls in a heap! Wolf then kicks Ren, and whips him into railing! The fans cheer as Wolf takes control! Wolf ROCKS Ren, whips again, and Ren hits more railing! Ren falls, Wolf finally takes his jacket and belt off, and he puts Ren in the ring.

The fans cheer as the bell rings and Wolf clamps onto Ren, KATAGATAME! Ren kicks around, so Wolf shifts to get the leg, then the arm, then the KATAGATAME! The fans cheer while Ren endures, reaches out, but Wolf squeezes tighter! Ren kicks, kicks, and kicks, but Wolf rolls him away from the ropes! KATAGATAME! Ren CLAWS Wolf’s face! Ren stomps Wolf, puts one chair on top, and then CON-CHAIR-TOS the leg! The fans boo but nothing can be done with all these distractions! Ren drags Wolf up, puts him in the ring, and stomps the bad leg. The fans rally for Wolf but Ren pushes him down. Ren takes the leg to SMASH it off the mat! Ren then clamps on for a toehold! Wolf endures, crawls his way over, and has the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer, but Ren only lets go once the ref counts.

The ref checks as Wolf clutches his knee, but Ren pushes the ref aside. Ren puts the leg on the ropes to stand on it! The fans boo and the ref counts, but Ren HIP DROPS down! Wolf clutches the leg and grits his teeth while the ref reprimands. Ren doesn’t care, and he paces while the fans rally for Wolf. Ren goes back to Wolf, drags him up, but Wolf fires forearms1 the fans cheer, but Ren kicks the bad leg! Ren runs, but Wolf blocks the kick to THROW Ren down! The fans rally while Wolf shakes out the bad leg. Wolf stands up, slaps that leg into working, then he drags Ren up, just to THROW him again! And again! And again!

The fans cheer as Wolf hits a quick hattrick, then whips corner to corner. Wolf runs in and LARIATS! Then Wolf brings Ren around to snap suplex! Wolf keeps moving, and he runs to ELBOW DROP! Cover, TWO! Ren toughs it out but the fans rally for Wolf. Wolf drags Ren back up, goes to fireman’s carry, but Ren CLUBS away to get free. Ren bails out, but Wolf hurries after him! Ren slides back in, then comes back to BOOT Wolf down! The fans rally for Wolf as Ren goes out after him. Ren whips Wolf, but Wolf reverses! Ren runs, but Young Lion Tatsuya Matsumoto returns the favor! The fans cheer and Dick is furious, but turnabout is fair play! Wolf huffs ‘n’ puffs and hurries after Ren. But Ren KICKS the bad leg, and catches Wolf into the GUILLOTINE! The fans rally as Wolf fights up, and he deadlift, STALLING suplexes Ren!

The fans fire up, and Wolf gets moving again, to ELBOW DROP on Ren’s back! Then a cover, TWO! Ren survives but Wolf just slaps the bad leg and fires back up! The fans rally as Wolf drags Ren up, fireman’s carries, and- NO, Ren slips free, body scissor rolls, and has the KNEEBAR!! Wolf endures, reaches out, then drags Ren along towards the ropes! But Wolf hurries, INVERTED TRIANGLE HOLD! But Dick slides in with a chair! Matsumoto stops him! But then Dick takes a swing on Matsumoto, only for Matsumoto to doge! The REF gets hit! Matsumoto DROPKICKS Dick! Ren goes to the ropes, Wolf lets go, and Matsumoto goes after Dick! But Dick THROWS Matsumoto into railing! Wolf roars, not even aware of what’s happened! Wolf storms over to Ren, drags him up, but Ren LOW- NO! Wolf stops the low blow!

The fans cheer as Wolf then SAYANAGIS! Wolf then realizes there’s no ref! The other Young Lions are checking, but Dick throws POCKET SAND! Ren gets Wolf up, he and Dick hit MAGIC DOUBLE CROSSER!! Wolf writhes, the ref returns, and Ren vows to end this! Ren goes up, up, HELL’S GUILLOTINE on the leg!!! Then FIGURE FOUR KNEEBAR!!! Ren laughs as he tortures Wolf, and Wolf TAPS! Ren wins!!

Callum tries to get under Oskar’s skin already as he pushes him and dares him to take a shot. Oskar tunes all that out as he puts his coat aside. The bell rings, and both men run up! Callum dodges a boot to BOOT Oskar, but Oskar doesn’t budge! Oskar swings, Callum dodges, then Callum DUMPS Oskar out! Callum PLANCHAS and down goes Oskar! The fans cheer while Oskar stumbles back to his feet. Callum fires a forearm, then whips, but Oskar stops short of the railing! Oskar BOOTS Callum, CHOPS him, then whips him hard into railing! Callum goes down in a heap while the fans fire up.

Oskar gets in Callum’s face while he’s on the floor, shouts at him, then CHOPS him! Callum sputters, but Oskar drags him up. Oskar scoops Callum to SNAKE EYES off the railing! Callum staggers away, clutching his face, and Oskar goes after him. Oskar whips Callum hard into more railing! The fans cheer, Oskar steps on Callum, then drags him up. Oskar puts Callum in the ring, the fans cheer again, and Callum goes to a corner. Oskar glares at Zane Jay and Zane says take it easy, he hasn’t done anything yet. Oskar backs Zane down, then goes to the ring, but Zane throws his gum at Oskar! So Oskar BOOTS Zane over the railing!

The fans cheer while Zane writhes, and Oskar goes back to the ring. Young Lions help Zane to the back while Oskar steps up and over the top rope. The fans cheer because that’s always impressive, and Oskar goes to Callum. Callum rolls Oskar up, ONE, and Oskar BOOTS Callum down! Oskar wags his finger, then stands Callum up to CHOP him down! And stands him up to CHOP down again! The fans cheer as Oskar stands Callum to CHOP him again! Then he CHOKES Callum on the mat! Red Shoes reprimands, Oskar stops, and Callum sputters. Oskar kicks Callum around, drags him up, and whips him, but Callum slides to a stop!

Callum drop toeholds Oskar onto the ropes, UP KICKS him from the apron, then gets space. Callum hits a DRIVE-BY! Oskar flounders, Callum slingshots to STOMP! Oskar coughs and sputters as he crawls away. Callum storms up, facelocks, then KNEES low! Oskar goes back to ropes, but Callum brings him up. Callum snapmares and KICKS Oskar in the back! Callum steps over, traps an arm, then digs knuckles into Oskar’s ribs! Oskar endures, Callum stomps him in the side, then stomps him again. Callum KICKS Oskar in the back, then Oskar bails out. Callum waits as Oskar rolls back in, and stomps him down!

Callum kneels on Oskar in the ropes, but backs off as Red Shoes reprimands. Callum clamps onto Oskar for a GROUND COBRA! Oskar endures, even as Callum grinds his forearm into Oskar’s face. Callum keeps on the hold, then shifts to a dragon sleeper. Callum CLUBS away on Oskar’s side, then CHOPS him! Oskar stands, CHOPS Callum in return, but Callum ROCKS Oskar with a forearm! Callum snapmares Oskar, and KICKS him in the back! Oskar writhes, Callum covers, ONE! The fans cheer as Oskar toughs it out, but Callum paces. Callum KICKS Oskar, KICKS him again, but Oskar grits his teeth.

Callum KICKS, and KICKS, but then Oskar blocks! Oskar CHOPS Callum, then RUNS him over! The fans cheer while Oskar goes to a corner. Oskar clutches his side as he stands back up, and he runs corner to corner at Callum! BIG ELBOW, then Oskar scoops, only for Callum to fight free! Callum reels Oskar in, but Oskar suplexes! Callum fights free, Oskar blocks a shot, and he waistlocks to SLAM! And ELBOW DROP! The fans cheer, Oskar covers, TWO! Callum survives but Oskar stays focused. Oskar rises, the fans rally up, and he brings Callum around. Guzel and CHOKE- KNEE from Callum!

Callum goes to a corner, Oskar runs up, blocks a boot, but not the ENZIGIRI! Nor the SUPERKICK! Nor the HEEL KICK! Callum whips, but Oskar reverses to BOOT! The fans fire up while Callum stumbles out of the ring! Red Shoes checks on Callum, but Oskar goes out to fetch him. Oskar drags Callum up but he’s a ragdoll. Oskar drops Callum to kick him again and again. Oskar then stands Callum up, but Callum ROUDNHOUSES! Oskar and Callum both slump against the railing, and Callum opens the gate. Callum brings Oskar into the crowd and fans hurry aside! Callum ROCKS Oskar and Oskar takes a seat.

Callum gets space, and a lot of space. Callum runs in, but Oskar catches him first! BERLIN- NO, Callum fights free to ROCK Oskar! Callum whips, but Oskar reverses, to BOWL Callum into the chairs! That might even be a record for distance! Oskar then buries Callum in chairs! Red Shoes reprimands but this isn’t exactly against the rules, it’s just mean! Oskar leaves Callum behind, even carrying Red Shoes back to the ring! Oskar wants the ring count! Red Shoes starts the count, and the fans rally as Callum digs his way out of the mess. The count is 8 of 20 before Callum stands, and he stumbles over the chairs! Callum is down at 15!

The fans rally as Callum is back up at 18! Callum sprints and slides in at 19, but into the LEG DROP, BROTHER! Cover, TWO!! But then the CAMEL CLUTCH! Oskar pulls Callum back, but Callum still endures! Callum frees one arm, but not for long! Callum frees the other arm, and he has the ROPEBREAK! Oskar lets go while the fans cheer. Oskar paces, then goes back to Callum. Oskar kicks Callum again and again, eggs him on, then kicks him again. Oskar mocks the song, “Make Way,” but Callum winds up to CHOP! Oskar shakes his head, then KICKS Callum again and again! Callum stands, CHOPS, and Oskar felt that one.

Oskar SLAPS Callum, eggs him on, so Callum winds up to BODY BLOW! Oskar falls back, but manages to stand again. Oskar guzels, Callum breaks free, and Callum slips around to GERMAN SUPLEX! But Oskar’s back up! Both men run up, Callum LARIATS! Cover, TWO! Callum KICKS Oskar in the side! Oskar flounders, sits up, and Callum BUZZSAWS! Cover, TWO! The fans fire up as Oskar is still in this! Callum roars, runs, and PENALTY KICK! Then he gets Oskar up, hooks the legs, and FIREBOLT!! Cover, TWO!! Oskar survives and the fans cheer again. Callum catches his breath, and he flips off the fans cheering Oskar.

Callum sits up, unwraps the wrist tape, and shows off the tattoo. Callum goes to Oskar, mocks the fans cheering, then vows to end this. Callum drags Oskar up, winds up, and KISS THE CROWN! But Oskar stays up! Callum winds up, but Oskar blocks the lariat! Oskar grabs the other arm, then BITES the tattoo!! Red Shoes reprimands, Oskar stops at 4, and both men go to corners. Callum runs up, btu Oskar scoops! Callum fights free, and KISS THE CROWN!! Cover, TWO!! Oskar survives but Callum roars as he drags Oskar up! Callum fireman’s carries, but Oskar slips free! NIGHTMARE- NO, Callum ELBOW BREAKERS, then ELBOWS Oskar!

Callum drops, but Oskar stops the victory roll to deadlift into the TOMBSTONE!! Cover, TWO?!?! Callum survive and shocks everyone! Oskar snarls, slaps himself to fire back up, and the fans are with him! Oskar drags Callum up, guzels, BERLIN- NO, Callum slips free to a SLEEPER! Callum is a backpack as Oskar steps towards the ropes. Oskar BACKPACK SENTONS! Oskar is free, but not for long! Callum has the SLEEPER, but Oskar rolls back, and he has Callum in the NIGHTMARE SLEEPER!! Callum flails, reaches out, grabs at Red Shoes, and then whips Red Shoes away! LOW BLOW!! And then roll and tuck for the cover, CALLUM WINS!!

Winner: Callum Newman, by pinfall (gains 2 points; Oskar earns 0)

Oskar had him caught, but Callum cheats his way to a win! Oskar is stuck in the middle of the block, can he still rise up to the top?

As for Callum, he’s still lying down as the mic is brought to him. Callum jokingly says in Japanese that he’s so tired, he really is. Callum says from the bottom of his heart, he HATES Oskar, so he should just go away! The fans are torn, but Callum continues in English that Oskar should make way for the Prince, and kiss the crown, b*tch! Mic drop from the former world champion, will he soon take back his throne?

My Thoughts:

Another great round for G1 with B Block, and good stuff in ZSJ staying alive another round. He dropped down the block fast, but he’s done great getting back up. He might end up just playing spoiler rather than making it to the playoffs, though. Great win from Yuya over Henare, that was definite a strong match. But then of course the top Heels win with Heel tactics. Ren and Wolf might fight for that NEVER title again after the G1 just to give both guys something to do. And at least Callum did his cheat at the very end, because he was desperate and/or frustrated. Gabe, Callum and Ren is a very good top three, can’t wait to see who makes it through.
