NXT sets its Dusty Cup final, John Cena’s return is announced, Crown Jewel travel concerns continue, and AEW prepares for Fright Night Dynamite.

The road to NXT Halloween Havoc took several unexpected turns Tuesday, with both Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinals producing important results and the North American Championship remaining in the hands of Jackson Drake. The biggest development came when Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno upset the reigning NXT Tag Team Champions, setting up a tournament final against Hank Walker and Tank Ledger.

WWE also confirmed an appearance by John Cena on next week’s special Wednesday edition of NXT, adding another attraction to an already significant broadcast. Meanwhile, the company continues preparing for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia despite ongoing security concerns and questions surrounding international travel.

Outside WWE, AEW is preparing for Wednesday’s Fright Night Dynamite, featuring the third match in FTR’s best-of-five series against the Motor City Machine Guns. TNA has announced an international expansion into Germany, while CMLL is preparing for a notable interpromotional encounter involving Darby Allin and Hechicero.

It’s the Chairshot Wrestling News ‘Report for October 28, 2026!

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Final Set as NXT Champions Suffer Stunning Defeat

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic produced a significant upset Tuesday when Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno defeated reigning NXT Tag Team Champions Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes of The Vanity Project, advancing to the tournament final.

Dar entered the semifinal with a head injury that left him less than fully healthy, creating an obvious target for the champions. Baylor and Smokes attempted to capitalize on the situation, using their established teamwork and aggressive approach to isolate their opponents. The match also featured attempted interference from Myka Lockwood, but Dar avoided her involvement at a critical moment.

Moreno ultimately provided the opening his team needed, countering The Vanity Project’s Hit It and Quit It combination. Dar and Moreno followed with a High-Low to secure the pinfall, handing the champions a consequential defeat despite the absence of their titles from the match’s stakes.

The result is especially meaningful because The Vanity Project entered the tournament with the advantage of already holding the NXT Tag Team Championship. A victory would have placed the champions in the final of a competition designed to establish one of the division’s strongest partnerships. Instead, Dar and Moreno now have an opportunity to win the tournament while also holding a victory over the champions.

Their opponents in the final will be Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, who defeated AAA World Tag Team Champions El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno in the other semifinal. The two teams delivered a physical contest that showcased the power and teamwork of both partnerships, but Hank and Tank eventually isolated Galeno and connected with their tandem splashes to secure the victory.

For Walker and Ledger, advancing represents another important step toward reclaiming a prominent position in NXT’s tag team division. The former champions have demonstrated that their partnership remains effective against accomplished opponents, and defeating the Wagner brothers gives them momentum entering the tournament’s deciding match.

The final now presents an interesting contrast. Dar and Moreno enter with the momentum of defeating the current NXT champions, while Hank and Tank arrive after overcoming an internationally established championship team. Both partnerships have credible claims to being the tournament’s strongest combination.

WWE has scheduled the Dusty Cup final for next week’s special Wednesday edition of NXT. The broadcast will also feature an appearance by John Cena, giving the tournament’s conclusion an unusually prominent platform.

With Halloween Havoc taking place Saturday, the tournament final will also help establish the tag team division’s direction after the premium live event. The champions may have been eliminated, but Tuesday’s result ensures they remain closely connected to the story regardless of which team wins the trophy.

WWE NXT Results — October 27, 2026

WWE presented its final NXT episode before Halloween Havoc from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The broadcast featured five matches, including the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinals and an NXT North American Championship defense, along with several confrontations designed to establish the final direction of Saturday’s event.

  • Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semifinal — Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno def. The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes).
  • Chantel Monroe def. Lizzy Rain.
  • Sean Legacy def. Saquon Shugars.
  • Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semifinal — Hank Walker & Tank Ledger def. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno.
  • NXT North American Championship — Jackson Drake def. EK Prosper to retain the championship.

Jackson Drake survived a difficult challenge from EK Prosper to retain the NXT North American Championship, although the result was once again influenced by outside involvement. Prosper’s athleticism repeatedly frustrated the champion, and he appeared capable of securing the upset as the match progressed. The Vanity Project eventually provided the distraction Drake needed, with Myka Lockwood occupying the referee while Kam Hendrix knocked Prosper from the top rope. Drake capitalized on the interference to retain his championship, continuing the group’s reliance on its numerical advantage.

The victory kept Drake’s championship reign intact, but the circumstances surrounding the finish provide Prosper with a legitimate complaint. He demonstrated that he could compete with the champion and was denied a fair opportunity to finish the match. The result also gave The Vanity Project a measure of success on a night when Baylor and Smokes were eliminated from the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Chantel Monroe defeated Lizzy Rain in her NXT singles debut, using the ropes for leverage during a rollup to secure the pinfall. Monroe demonstrated a willingness to take shortcuts rather than simply relying on her offense, immediately establishing a controversial element to her presentation. Rain had several opportunities to build momentum, but Monroe’s decision to bend the rules ultimately determined the outcome.

Sean Legacy also picked up a victory over Saquon Shugars, countering his opponent’s offense to secure the pinfall. The loss continued a difficult stretch for Shugars, while Legacy gained another meaningful singles victory as NXT continues developing its younger roster.

The Halloween Havoc buildup included an unusual announcement from Danhausen, who revealed that Myles Borne and Tavion Heights will meet in a Weapons Wild Match on Saturday. The stipulation allows their rivalry to continue in an environment where conventional restrictions will no longer apply, adding another distinctive attraction to the event.

The NXT Championship rivalry between Grayson Waller and Tony D’Angelo also escalated. Waller appeared at D’Angelo’s home, continuing the personal nature of their conflict before their scheduled title match. The confrontation carried over to the Performance Center, where the two became involved in another brawl that required security intervention.

Waller’s approach has increasingly focused on provoking D’Angelo outside the ring, while the challenger has demonstrated little interest in allowing the champion to control the psychological side of their rivalry. Their Halloween Havoc match now carries additional personal stakes beyond the NXT Championship itself.

The broadcast also continued the issues between Zaria and Izzi Dame, with their confrontation approaching another important stage ahead of Saturday’s event. Elsewhere, NXT continued promoting the NXT Women’s Championship match between Kelani Jordan and Wren Sinclair.

Tuesday’s show accomplished several important objectives heading into Halloween Havoc. Drake retained his championship, the Dusty Cup finalists were determined, and multiple rivalries received their final television developments before Saturday. With the premium live event approaching and a special Wednesday broadcast scheduled for next week, NXT has several major stories positioned to carry beyond Halloween.

WWE Crown Jewel Remains Scheduled as Saudi Arabia Travel Concerns Continue

WWE’s November 7 Crown Jewel premium live event remains scheduled for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, despite continuing questions about regional security and the safety of international travel. The situation has attracted increasing attention following additional U.S. government travel advisories, with WWE and TKO management facing decisions about whether the event can proceed as planned.

The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia recently urged American travelers to exercise extreme caution when using airports in the country. The warning has become especially relevant because WWE must transport wrestlers, production personnel and other employees to Riyadh for an event that requires considerable advance planning.

According to WrestleVotes, uncertainty surrounding the event has created concern among talent and staff who have limited influence over the final decision. Those expected to travel must prepare for the possibility of proceeding while also accounting for the complications that could arise if WWE changes its plans.

Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, indicating that WWE is still expected to hold the event unless a major development forces a change. His assessment suggests the company remains committed to its existing schedule, although the situation is subject to further developments.

TKO Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel has previously indicated that the company is evaluating circumstances daily and has not canceled the event. That approach leaves WWE with a narrowing window to make any significant logistical adjustments before the November 7 date.

The current Crown Jewel lineup includes Roman Reigns against Sami Zayn for the men’s Crown Jewel Championship, Liv Morgan against Chelsea Green for the women’s version, and Cody Rhodes facing Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match. The World Tag Team Championship match between The Vision and Penta and Je’Von Evans was added following Monday’s Raw.

The concern extends beyond the advertised matches. International events require coordination involving transportation, accommodations, production equipment and the movement of a large workforce. A late change could affect considerably more people than the wrestlers scheduled to appear.

WWE has not announced a relocation, postponement or cancellation. For now, Crown Jewel remains on the calendar, but the situation is worth monitoring closely as the company approaches its planned departure for Saudi Arabia.

AEW Fright Night Dynamite Preview — October 28, 2026

AEW returns to Wednesday night television with Fright Night Dynamite from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, continuing the build toward Blood & Guts on November 4 and Full Gear on November 14.

One of the evening’s major attractions will be the third match in the best-of-five series between FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns. The teams enter Wednesday tied at one victory apiece, following the Motor City Machine Guns’ opening win at WrestleDream and FTR’s controversial victory during Saturday’s Collision.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler secured their first victory through questionable tactics, with Stokely Hathaway’s involvement helping create the opportunity for the deciding pinfall. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin now have an opportunity to regain control of the series, while FTR can move within one victory of claiming the overall win.

The series has provided AEW with a straightforward rivalry between two of the industry’s most accomplished tag teams. Both partnerships have extensive championship histories, and their contrasting approaches have created a compelling competitive dynamic. The best-of-five format also allows the rivalry to develop through successive matches rather than relying entirely on confrontations outside the ring.

AEW must also continue preparing for its upcoming Blood & Guts event. The women’s match will feature Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor against Thekla, Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Megan Bayne and Lena Kross. The temporary partnership between Wrathlander and the Brawling Birds remains especially interesting because the teams are scheduled to face one another for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship at Full Gear.

The men’s division has several developing faction rivalries of its own, including the conflict involving the Don Callis Family and the continuing issues between Jon Moxley’s Death Riders and Jay White’s newly assembled group, The Cut. Saturday’s Collision ended with another chaotic confrontation involving those factions, leaving multiple unresolved issues heading into Wednesday.

The company’s championship programs are also becoming increasingly important as Full Gear approaches. With the November 14 pay-per-view scheduled for Phoenix, AEW has limited television time remaining to establish its most significant matches and develop the rivalries surrounding them.

Wednesday’s broadcast should provide another important step toward both major events, particularly with Blood & Guts only one week away.

Darby Allin Set for CMLL Debut Against Hechicero in Mexico City

AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin is scheduled to make his CMLL debut Friday, October 30, facing CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero at Arena México as part of the promotion’s Día de Muertos celebrations.

CMLL confirmed the match Tuesday, adding a notable international attraction to an event that has already sold out. The encounter brings together two wrestlers with dramatically different styles, with Allin’s risk-taking approach meeting Hechicero’s technical offense and unconventional submissions.

Allin’s appearance is another example of the increasingly active relationship between AEW and CMLL. Wrestlers from both promotions have appeared on one another’s programming, creating opportunities for matches that might otherwise remain outside the regular schedules of either company.

Hechicero has become an especially important figure in that relationship because of his involvement in both promotions. His championship status in CMLL gives Friday’s encounter additional significance, even though the match has not been announced as a title defense.

The CMLL World Heavyweight Champion also has another major international encounter approaching. Hechicero is scheduled to defend his championship against Zack Sabre Jr. at Lucha Kingdom on November 16, a joint event involving CMLL and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

That schedule places Hechicero in a series of matches against prominent international opponents, each bringing a different approach to the ring. Allin presents a particularly unusual challenge because of his willingness to absorb punishment and use unpredictable offense to overcome physically larger opponents.

For Allin, the appearance provides an opportunity to perform in one of professional wrestling’s most historically significant venues. Arena México has been central to lucha libre for generations, and a debut against the reigning heavyweight champion represents a substantial introduction to the CMLL audience.

Friday’s match should provide another example of the benefits of international promotional cooperation, with two established stars meeting in a setting outside their usual television environment.

NJPW Super Junior Tag League Sees Two Teams Take Control of A Block

New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Super Junior Tag League continued Tuesday in Ibaraki, Japan, with Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X joining DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru atop A Block after another important round of tournament matches.

Ishimori and Robbie X rebounded from Monday’s loss to Místico and Masatora Yasuda by defeating Master Wato and KUUKAI. Robbie X secured the deciding pinfall with the X Xpress, moving the team to six points and maintaining its position among the block’s leading contenders.

DOUKI and Kanemaru also reached six points by defeating Místico and Yasuda in the main event. Their victory came with assistance from HOUSE OF TORTURE interference, which helped create an advantage against the team formed following El Desperado’s injury-related withdrawal.

The result was a setback for Místico and Yasuda after their upset victory the previous night. That win had briefly revived their tournament prospects, but Tuesday’s defeat left them with only two points and a difficult path toward the block’s top position.

Elsewhere, Ryusuke Taguchi and Kazuma Sumi defeated Nick Wayne and KUSHIDA in a competitive encounter lasting approximately 17 minutes. Taguchi secured the victory with a rollup, bringing his team to four points and preventing Wayne and KUSHIDA from joining the leaders.

With one round of A Block competition remaining, Ishimori and Robbie X and the team of DOUKI and Kanemaru are tied at six points. Wayne and KUSHIDA remain in contention with four, alongside Taguchi and Sumi, creating an important final round of matches.

The remaining A Block encounters are scheduled for Saturday in Kyoto. Ishimori and Robbie X will face Wayne and KUSHIDA, DOUKI and Kanemaru will meet Master Wato and KUUKAI, and Místico and Yasuda will compete against Taguchi and Sumi.

B Block remains tightly contested, with four teams tied at four points heading into its next round of competition. The tournament’s block winners are scheduled to meet in the final at Power Struggle on November 3 in Hiroshima.

Tuesday’s results provide a clearer picture of the A Block race without eliminating the possibility of another late standings change. With the tournament nearing its conclusion, every remaining match carries significant implications for the teams still pursuing a place in the final.

TNA Wrestling Announces German Expansion Ahead of November Programming

TNA Wrestling has announced plans to expand its international presence into Germany next month, continuing the promotion’s efforts to reach audiences outside North America.

The company confirmed the development Tuesday as part of its international distribution plans. The announcement represents another step in TNA’s efforts to strengthen its television presence and establish additional opportunities for fans to follow its programming.

International distribution remains an important component of wrestling promotion growth, particularly for companies competing for attention in a market dominated by larger organizations. Establishing a consistent presence in another major European market can introduce performers and storylines to viewers who may not regularly encounter TNA’s weekly television product.

Germany has a substantial professional wrestling audience, with a history of both domestic promotions and interest in major international companies. That makes the market a logical target for TNA as it continues developing its brand and pursuing additional distribution opportunities.

The announcement also arrives during an important period for TNA’s roster and business operations. The promotion has been working through contract negotiations involving several performers while continuing to develop championship programs and prepare for its remaining events of 2026.

TNA’s international growth does not automatically translate into increased attendance or revenue, but broader distribution can provide a foundation for future business opportunities. Television exposure helps establish familiarity with performers and gives the company another market in which to promote its programming.

Additional details about the German rollout and its audience impact will become clearer as the November launch approaches. For now, the announcement represents another international development for a company seeking to expand its reach.

The final week of October brings several important events, with WWE, AEW and international promotions all preparing for major matches.

Wednesday’s AEW Fright Night Dynamite will feature the third match in FTR’s series against the Motor City Machine Guns while continuing the build toward Blood & Guts. Friday’s SmackDown is scheduled to feature Sami Zayn defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Trick Williams, alongside other important championship matches.

Saturday brings NXT Halloween Havoc, headlined by Grayson Waller defending the NXT Championship against Tony D’Angelo. The event also features Kelani Jordan defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Wren Sinclair and several personal rivalries that have developed throughout October.

AEW’s Halloween edition of Collision will feature Triangle of Madness defending the Artist of Stardom Championship against Hazuki, Koguma and Fuwa-chan. The match adds another international championship attraction to a weekend already featuring significant wrestling programming.

The following week brings AEW Blood & Guts on November 4 and WWE Crown Jewel on November 7, assuming the latter proceeds as scheduled. AEW Full Gear follows November 14, giving both companies important events around which to organize their remaining championship programs.

Tuesday’s NXT established several major directions for the immediate future, while developments involving Crown Jewel, international wrestling partnerships and tournament competition created additional stories beyond the weekly television results. With November approaching, the industry’s schedule is only becoming more crowded.
