Chicago beats Seattle behind D’Andre Swift, Detroit ends Minnesota’s perfect season, and Denver rallies past Kansas City in a wild NFL Week 8.
The NFL no longer has an undefeated team, the Chicago Bears are making a serious statement in the NFC North, and the Kansas City Chiefs suddenly find themselves looking up at the Denver Broncos in the AFC West.
Chicago closed Week 8 with a convincing 34-17 victory over Seattle on Monday Night Football, powered by three D’Andre Swift touchdowns and an impressive debut from newly acquired defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. The Bears improved to 6-2, continuing their surge since Caleb Williams returned from injury.
Detroit handed Minnesota its first defeat of the season, Denver erased an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit against Kansas City, and Arizona delivered a stunning overtime comeback against Dallas. Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s losing streak reached six games, Jacksonville dismantled Indianapolis, and Buffalo overwhelmed Baltimore.
With the November 10 trade deadline approaching, teams are also evaluating their rosters following a weekend that exposed significant weaknesses and produced several important injuries.
It’s the Chairshot NFL News Report for November 3, 2026!
Bears Dominate Seahawks as D’Andre Swift Scores Three Touchdowns
Chicago delivered another statement victory Monday night, defeating Seattle 34-17 behind three second-half rushing touchdowns from D’Andre Swift and an impressive defensive performance.
The Bears improved to 6-2, winning their third consecutive game since quarterback Caleb Williams returned from a hamstring injury. Seattle fell to 4-4 after losing three of its past four games, a disappointing stretch for the defending Super Bowl champions.
Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, demonstrating the improved command that has helped Chicago establish offensive consistency. Swift rushed 27 times for 69 yards, with his three touchdowns proving considerably more important than his modest rushing average.
Chicago established a 13-9 halftime advantage after Williams connected with rookie Luther Burden III for a one-yard touchdown and Cairo Santos added two field goals. Seattle remained competitive behind Sam Darnold, who found Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 43-yard touchdown.
The game changed during the second half as Chicago repeatedly capitalized on Seattle’s defensive mistakes. Swift scored three times, giving the Bears a dependable finishing option whenever their offense moved into scoring position.
Seattle briefly threatened a comeback when Darnold connected with Cooper Kupp for a touchdown and converted a two-point attempt, reducing Chicago’s advantage to 20-17. However, the Bears responded with another touchdown and eventually put the game away following a blocked field goal and a late interception.
Darnold finished with 188 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Smith-Njigba produced 118 receiving yards and a touchdown, but Chicago’s defense successfully limited his influence during the second half.
Perhaps the most encouraging development for the Bears was the immediate impact of Jeffery Simmons. Acquired from Tennessee in a blockbuster trade involving two first-round draft selections, Simmons made his Chicago debut and helped transform the effectiveness of the defensive front.
The Bears generated consistent pressure and prevented Seattle from establishing offensive rhythm after halftime. Simmons’ presence also created opportunities for other defenders, demonstrating why Chicago was willing to make such a significant investment.
Chicago’s victory carries additional importance because Detroit defeated Minnesota on Sunday. The NFC North now features three teams with legitimate claims to contention, and the Bears have positioned themselves among the league’s most intriguing teams entering the second half of the season.
Lions End Vikings’ Undefeated Season in NFC North Thriller
Minnesota’s perfect season ended Sunday when Detroit secured a 19-15 victory in a physical divisional matchup.
The Vikings entered at 6-0 as the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team, but Detroit relied on its rushing attack and a late touchdown pass from Jared Goff to deliver Minnesota’s first defeat.
Jahmyr Gibbs led the Lions with 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, repeatedly finding opportunities against Minnesota’s aggressive defensive approach. Sione Vaki added 65 yards on 11 carries, providing another productive option as Detroit increasingly committed to the ground game.
The Vikings took a 15-12 lead during the fourth quarter when Kyler Murray connected with T.J. Hockenson for a touchdown. Detroit responded with a seven-play, 69-yard drive that ended with Goff finding Jameson Williams for a seven-yard touchdown, restoring the Lions’ advantage with 4:35 remaining.
Detroit then relied on its rushing attack to control the final minutes. Goff eventually secured the decisive first down on a quarterback sneak, allowing the Lions to exhaust the remaining clock.
Minnesota’s offense continued struggling with consistency despite its impressive record. Murray finished with 210 passing yards, but the Vikings managed only 266 total yards and converted just three of ten third-down opportunities.
The Lions’ defense also delivered an improved performance, although injuries became a major concern. Linebacker Jack Campbell was taken to a hospital following a neck injury, while Brian Branch and D.J. Wonnum exited with concussions.
Detroit improved to 5-2, while Minnesota fell to 6-1. The result tightens an already competitive division and raises questions about whether the Vikings’ offense can produce enough against stronger opponents when its defense cannot carry the entire game.
Broncos Rally Past Chiefs With Dramatic Goal-Line Stand
Denver delivered one of Sunday’s most remarkable victories, overcoming an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Kansas City 28-24.
The Broncos improved to 6-2 and moved ahead of the Chiefs in the AFC West standings, while Kansas City suffered its second consecutive defeat after opening the season undefeated.
Patrick Mahomes appeared to have Kansas City positioned for a victory after directing an 11-play, 63-yard touchdown drive that extended the Chiefs’ lead during the third quarter. However, Denver gradually recovered behind an improving offense and a defense that delivered its biggest plays when they mattered most.
A missed 54-yard field goal by Harrison Butker helped create another opportunity for Denver, which eventually took the lead during the final two minutes.
Kansas City still had an opportunity to win. Mahomes moved the Chiefs deep into Denver territory, including a 32-yard completion to Travis Kelce that helped establish a first-and-goal situation.
The Broncos then delivered a remarkable defensive stand. Kansas City failed to score on multiple opportunities near the goal line, and a false-start penalty made the final attempt even more difficult.
On fourth down, Denver’s pressure forced Mahomes into a desperate play that ended without a touchdown, preserving the Broncos’ four-point victory.
The result adds to growing concerns about Kansas City’s kicking situation. Butker’s missed field goal continued a difficult season, particularly after the organization signed veteran Justin Tucker to its practice squad.
For Denver, the victory reinforces its emergence as a legitimate contender. The Broncos have demonstrated an ability to win close games and recover from difficult situations, while Kansas City must address problems that have contributed to consecutive defeats.
Cardinals Complete Stunning Overtime Comeback Against Cowboys
Arizona produced one of the season’s most surprising victories Sunday, overcoming a 14-point deficit to defeat Dallas 33-30 in overtime.
The Cardinals entered the game struggling at 2-5, while Dallas appeared positioned to build on its impressive Monday Night Football victory over Philadelphia.
Instead, Arizona turned to Gardner Minshew after Jacoby Brissett struggled, and the veteran backup quarterback transformed the game.
Minshew directed four consecutive touchdown drives during the closing stages of regulation, including a 13-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson that tied the score at 30 with six seconds remaining.
Arizona had an opportunity to win immediately, but Chad Ryland missed the extra-point attempt, sending the game into overtime.
Both teams opened the extra period with three-and-out possessions before Arizona regained possession. Ryland eventually redeemed himself with a 42-yard field goal, completing the Cardinals’ comeback and delivering their third victory.
The result was particularly frustrating for Dallas, which had appeared to establish momentum following its 38-21 victory over Philadelphia. The Cowboys fell to 3-5, demonstrating that their defensive problems remain significant despite improvements elsewhere.
Arizona improved to 3-5 and gained an important victory during a difficult season. Minshew’s performance also creates an interesting quarterback discussion for a team attempting to establish more consistent offensive production.
Eagles Lose Sixth Straight as Commanders Win on Sunday Night Football
Philadelphia’s season continued unraveling Sunday night, with Washington defeating the Eagles 27-10 and extending their losing streak to six games.
The Eagles opened the game with a 10-point advantage, briefly suggesting that their struggling offense might finally produce a complete performance. However, Washington responded with 27 unanswered points, taking control while Philadelphia struggled to generate meaningful production.
Jayden Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, connecting with Stefon Diggs for an eight-yard score that helped Washington erase its early deficit.
The victory represented Daniels’ first win as a starting quarterback since October 2025, ending a lengthy stretch interrupted by injuries and disappointing results.
Philadelphia continued relying on Tanner McKee while Jalen Hurts remained unavailable. McKee struggled against Washington’s defensive pressure, while Saquon Barkley was limited by lingering injury concerns.
The Eagles fell to 2-6, placing them in an increasingly difficult position within the NFC East. Their offense has struggled to sustain drives, while injuries have prevented the coaching staff from establishing continuity.
Washington improved to 2-4-1 and secured an important divisional victory despite its own personnel problems. The Commanders recently lost Terry McLaurin for the season, making Daniels’ ability to generate enough offense without his established receiver particularly encouraging.
For Philadelphia, the concern is no longer simply a disappointing stretch. Six consecutive defeats have transformed the team’s season, and significant improvement will be necessary to avoid falling completely out of contention.
Jaguars Embarrass Colts Following Indianapolis’ Roster Shakeup
Jacksonville delivered the most lopsided victory of Week 8, overwhelming Indianapolis 42-7 in an AFC South matchup that reinforced the dramatically different directions of the two franchises.
The Jaguars improved to 5-2, while the Colts fell to 2-6 following a week dominated by major trades and questions about the organization’s future.
Trevor Lawrence completed 10 of 14 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns before spending much of the fourth quarter on the sideline. Jacksonville repeatedly generated explosive plays, including touchdowns from 31, 39, 28 and 25 yards.
The Jaguars’ offense was efficient, but their defensive performance was equally important. Indianapolis struggled to establish any consistent production, allowing Jacksonville to control the game from the opening stages.
The defeat came shortly after Indianapolis traded Quenton Nelson to Seattle and DeForest Buckner to San Francisco. Those transactions were already significant, but Sunday’s performance emphasized how difficult the remainder of the season could become.
Head coach Shane Steichen acknowledged the need to evaluate the entire operation following the defeat. Indianapolis must now determine how to develop younger contributors while navigating a season that has become increasingly disappointing.
Jacksonville, meanwhile, strengthened its position in the AFC South and demonstrated the offensive explosiveness that has made it one of the conference’s more dangerous teams.
Joe Burrow Powers Bengals Past Titans in Overtime Shootout
Cincinnati survived an unexpectedly difficult afternoon against Tennessee, defeating the Titans 43-36 in overtime.
Joe Burrow accounted for six total touchdowns, continuing his remarkable offensive production following a five-touchdown passing performance against Baltimore the previous week.
The Bengals improved to 5-2, keeping themselves firmly involved in the AFC North race. However, allowing 36 points to a Tennessee team that entered with only one victory raises concerns about Cincinnati’s defensive consistency.
The Titans remained competitive despite trading star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to Chicago. Tennessee’s offensive performance was encouraging, but the organization could not produce the necessary defensive stops to secure an upset.
Cincinnati’s ability to win a high-scoring game demonstrated the value of Burrow’s production, although relying on extraordinary quarterback performances every week is not a sustainable defensive strategy.
The Bengals remain among the AFC’s most dangerous offensive teams. Their challenge is ensuring that the defense can provide enough support to turn that production into consistent victories against stronger opponents.
Bills Overwhelm Ravens as Baltimore’s Struggles Continue
Buffalo delivered a convincing 36-10 victory over Baltimore, handing the Ravens another defeat during a difficult stretch.
The Bills improved to 5-2 following their bye week, while Baltimore fell to 4-4 after opening the season with considerable expectations.
Buffalo controlled the matchup through effective offense and a defense that prevented the Ravens from establishing consistent production. The Bills also benefited from receiver DJ Moore, whose explosive reception helped create a scoring opportunity during the third quarter.
Baltimore’s problems have been complicated by Lamar Jackson’s extended absence and multiple offensive-line injuries. The Ravens have struggled to maintain offensive consistency, and Sunday’s defeat demonstrated how difficult those limitations have become.
The loss also places Baltimore under additional pressure within the AFC North. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati both secured victories, while Cleveland remains competitive despite its own defeat.
Buffalo, meanwhile, strengthened its position in the AFC East and demonstrated that its offense remains capable of producing against established opponents.
Steelers Take Control Against Browns, Buccaneers Shut Out Falcons
Pittsburgh improved to 6-2 with a convincing 27-6 victory over Cleveland, strengthening its position atop the AFC North.
The Steelers controlled the matchup defensively and prevented the Browns from establishing meaningful offensive rhythm. Cleveland fell to 5-3 after entering the game with an opportunity to move ahead of Pittsburgh in the division.
The result gives the Steelers an important head-to-head advantage and reinforces their position as one of the AFC’s most consistent teams.
Tampa Bay also delivered a significant defensive performance, shutting out Atlanta 16-0 in an NFC South matchup.
The Buccaneers improved to 3-5, securing their second consecutive victory after a difficult start. Atlanta fell to 3-5 after failing to generate any points against a Tampa Bay defense that has shown considerable improvement.
The shutout was particularly surprising because Atlanta had defeated previously undefeated San Francisco the previous week. The Falcons’ inability to build on that performance illustrates the inconsistency that has defined their season.
Rams Win Los Angeles Battle, Patriots Hold Off Dolphins
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Chargers 24-9, improving to 4-4 while handing their city rivals another disappointing defeat.
The Chargers fell to 0-7, becoming the first team in NFL history to lose its first seven games after winning at least 11 games the previous season.
Matthew Stafford directed an efficient Rams offense that capitalized on opportunities while avoiding unnecessary risks. The Rams also received a strong defensive performance, limiting the Chargers to three field goals.
New England secured a 24-19 victory over Miami, improving to 5-3 and strengthening its position in the AFC East.
The Dolphins fell to 1-6 after briefly generating momentum with their first victory the previous week. Miami remained competitive but could not complete the comeback against a Patriots team that has demonstrated improved consistency.
Both results carry significant implications for teams attempting to establish themselves as playoff contenders. The Rams have recovered to .500, while New England remains competitive despite several important injuries.
Raiders End Losing Streak Against Jets
Las Vegas snapped its four-game losing streak with a 38-33 victory over the New York Jets, improving to 4-4.
The Raiders had struggled defensively throughout their losing streak, and Sunday’s game again exposed problems containing opposing offenses. However, Las Vegas generated enough production to secure a much-needed victory.
The result came after head coach Klint Kubiak confirmed that Kirk Cousins would remain the starting quarterback rather than turning to rookie Fernando Mendoza.
Cousins’ continued role provides stability while Mendoza develops, although the organization must still address defensive problems that have contributed to its inconsistent record.
The Jets fell to 2-6, continuing a difficult season marked by injuries and an inability to turn competitive performances into victories.
Lions Face Injury Concerns Following Victory Over Vikings
Detroit’s important victory over Minnesota came with several defensive injuries that could complicate the team’s progress.
Linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a neck injury and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. The injury created immediate concern because Campbell has been one of Detroit’s most important defensive contributors.
Brian Branch and D.J. Wonnum both exited with concussions following a collision, while rookie linebacker Jimmy Rolder suffered a hamstring injury.
Cornerback D.J. Reed also left with a hip problem after contributing an interception and an important pass breakup.
The injuries are particularly concerning because Detroit’s defense had shown meaningful improvement during its previous two games. Losing multiple contributors could force significant changes to the lineup.
The Lions remain well positioned in the NFC North, but their ability to sustain momentum will depend partly on how quickly their injured defenders can recover.
NFL Trade Deadline Approaches With Major Names Still Drawing Attention
The November 10 NFL trade deadline is approaching following one of the most active stretches of the season.
Indianapolis has already traded Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, while Tennessee sent Jeffery Simmons to Chicago in exchange for two first-round selections and additional compensation.
Those transactions demonstrate the different priorities facing contending organizations and teams preparing for longer-term roster changes.
Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor remains a prominent name in trade speculation, although no agreement has been announced. Receiver Josh Downs has also reportedly requested a trade, creating additional questions about the Colts’ plans.
The distinction between reported interest and completed transactions remains important. Teams may explore potential deals without ultimately agreeing to compensation, and hypothetical trade scenarios should not be mistaken for active negotiations.
Chicago’s acquisition of Simmons has already produced an immediate on-field contribution, strengthening the Bears’ defense during Monday’s victory. Seattle and San Francisco will also be evaluating how their newly acquired veterans fit into their respective rosters.
The coming week will reveal whether other organizations are willing to make similarly aggressive investments or whether the largest transactions have already occurred.

The NFL’s eighth week produced several results that could have lasting consequences for the remainder of the season.
Chicago’s victory over Seattle reinforced the Bears’ emergence as a serious NFC contender, while Detroit’s defeat of Minnesota eliminated the league’s final undefeated team. The NFC North remains extremely competitive, with Minnesota, Chicago, Detroit and Green Bay all holding winning records.
Denver’s comeback against Kansas City created another important shift. The Broncos now lead the AFC West at 6-2, while the Chiefs have lost consecutive games after opening the season undefeated.
Philadelphia’s sixth consecutive defeat has dramatically altered the NFC East, while Dallas’ overtime loss to Arizona prevented the Cowboys from building on their recent improvement.
Jacksonville strengthened its position in the AFC South, Pittsburgh gained an important advantage in the AFC North, and Buffalo demonstrated its ability to dominate a struggling Baltimore team.
The approaching trade deadline adds another dimension to those developments. Teams must determine whether their current records justify additional investments, while struggling organizations evaluate whether established contributors should remain part of their long-term plans.
With every NFL team now having suffered at least one defeat, the focus shifts away from perfect records and toward consistency, health and the ability to win important games against direct competitors.
