Flip Gordon’s Military Duties Now Complete

It’s been known for some time now that one of the rising stars of the wrestling industry, Flip Gordon, had been fulfilling “double duty” when he embarked on his in-ring career as an active member of the United States Army National Guard. When Flip began training for professional wrestling, he was already a member of the National Guard and has been able to maintain both for the past six years, including his time with Ring Of Honor, however that is now coming to an end.

Speaking with CagesideSeats.com, Gordon revealed that his contract is not finished quite yet, but he has fulfilled all of his commitments and will be focusing solely on wrestling now:

“I’m actually done now. My contract is up May 1, but I have already fulfilled my last drill for the Army. It was torturous [doing both], but I made it work. And I’m excited to move on to the next chapter in my life, which is just professional wrestling.”

Flip is currently slated to Dalton Castle tonight at ROH Bound By Honor.

EA’s Take: I’ve interviewed Flip before and he’s really a tremendous young man on top of just how talented he is. You’ve got to respect his commitment to the National Guard while also pursuing his in-ring dreams, but honestly, it was only holding those dreams back. Now that those obligations have been completed, the sky is the limit for him. Good looking kid, lots of personality and loads of talent. Despite his name, he’s not just some “flippy” independent wrestler either. If you haven’t seen him in action, I’d suggest checking him out any way you can to get familiar.
