The 10 Defining Moments of John Cena’s Career
5. Royal Rumble 2008 Return

Despite being portrayed as the invincible superman for the last few years Cena was forced to vacate the WWE title due to injury. It was estimated that he would out for up to a year which meant missing Mania. Which is why when the Rumble rolled around no one was predicting Cena would appear not even Meltzer. So, when Cena came out at number 30 it was a genuine surprise to the fans in the garden.
Of course, fans would soon go back to booing him but for that moment Cena got a genuine pop he hadn’t got in a while. It was great that it happened in the same arena where he won his first championship back at Mania 20. This moment would begin a running theme in Cena’s career of being able to come back from injuries way earlier than expected.
