Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 10.31.2024

Coming off Bound For Glory, most of us got a lot of news of injuries to Vikingo and Chris Bey. Both men are fine and starting their rehab, so we can focus on exactly what TNA decides to do moving towards Turning Point.

Well damn, I know its Halloween, but an ambulance wasn’t on the tapings cards…but tell that to TNA. Vikingo and Chris Bey suffered injuries during tapings, so I’m not sure how the next few shows will present and/or what will have to pivot with two potential big players on the shelf for a while. It goes without saying that I wish them as much speed in healing possible, but knowing that they are both “fine” and starting their paths to recovery, I can compartmentalize and wonder how the dominos will fall on the shows leading to Turning Point.

Bound For Glory gave us a few things to chew on, JBL’s involvement with Nemeth, Hendry getting the Tetsuya Naito treatment, Hardyz back on top in 2024, Masha being the new Tsarina of the Knockouts Division and Speedball finding a new level of aggression to make you wonder how babyface he’ll be staying moving into 2025. So that should be some of the major wrinkles to iron out moving forward…let’s see where everything goes!

Results:

Frankie Kazarian walks out to Hendry’s music and in full Joe Hendry cosplay. He’s even doing the whole entrance including the turn. He even does a…bad Scottish accent, sounds more like South African, but even if it’s not an Aunty Donna skit, its still funny. Kaz Hendry calls Hendry a loser, choker and makes fun of him in classic cosplay style. Reminds me of Mr Anderson doing Surfer Sting, or Kevin Nash and his Arn Anderson promo. This stuff is cheesy but funny. Real Hendry of course cuts it off eventually, they do the Spiderman meme for a bit and then Hendry cuts a retort promo. Hendry starts joking with Kaz a little and claims that Kaz and JBL screwed things up and Nemeth is involved somehow.

Nemeth’s music hits, he cuts it short and comes out to claim he has nothing to do with the JBL stuff. Nemeth does the fighting Champion Babyface thing and says Hendry deserves a rematch because he’s denying being in cahoots. Kaz is just having fun on the outside. AND NOW ALISHA COMES OUT! “DO YOU WANNA KNO SUMTHIIIN??” no music, just Alisha and her crop top interrupt the segment. Oh Dango and Eddie are there too…but I know what I’m paying attention to. Eddie and Dango say typical heel things, Nemeth gets sick of it, offers a tag match of Dango & Eddie vs Hendry & Nemeth. Kaz walks in the ring and says they should make it a 6 Man, he’ll tag with them too (still in full South African Hendry gimmick). Nemeth Superkicks Kaz, Hendry Standing Ovation, and Kaz is left laying as we cut to commercial.

Coming back, Lish is still running her mouth, now about Masha. Masha comes out to fight them both, Jordynne makes the save once the numbers start to work against Masha. Santino comes out, makes the Knockouts tag official for next week and officially confirms the JDC & Eddie vs Hendry & Nemeth match.

First Cla$$ (KC Navarro & AJ Francis) vs The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz)

Oh look it’s been 30 minutes but finally a match!

First spot is a Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissors that is a touchy janky, but nothing egregious. Rascalz pull off the old High Speed Dirt from MCMG and do the MCMG pose for the reference. Navarro tries the Spiderman taunt in the middle of the ropes, Wentz Dropkicks him, goes for a Dive but AJ Low Bridges so Wentz goes crashing. Navarro hits the Tope con Hilo, looks smooth, blind tag from AJ as KC flies, AJ continues the offense, Tennessee Whiskey into the tag to Navarro for a near fall. Snapmare into Double Stomp for Navarro, and Wentz stays on the receiving end of the beat down.

Wentz tries to fight back, AJ grabs the hair and drags him back down, goes for a Senton but misses, so Wentz tags out, hot tag to Trey. Sliding Kick, Sliding Meteora for KC, tandem chopping down into a Swanton from Wentz for two. Superkick party between KC and Wentz until Wentz takes them both out with the Running Crossbody. Trey goes to the top, looks for the Diving Meteora, but Navarro crotches Trey, Avalanche Down Payment from AJ and First Cla$$ wins!

Eric Young, Steve Maclin & Jonathan Gresham vs Josh Alexander, Jason Hotch & John Skyler

You know, at least Hotch has talent. So The Good Hands are an upgrade over generic indie white boys version 8921581929 that are normally part of the Northern Armoury.

The match immediately begins in picture in picture…and that’s not terrible since I think we all know much won’t happen in the early goings. Nice to see a well times ad break for the first time in months. Gresham starts and makes the Good Hands look like idiots. Joint Locks, quick spots, Leap Frog’s Skyler so he Spears Hotch. Just general toying with idiots until Josh decides to get involved with a shortcut right as we’re coming back and Josh tags in to stomp on Gresham in the corner. Drop Toe Hold, Thrust Kick into Hotch tagging in and hitting the Rolling Outside In Neckbreaker for a two.

I’ll be honest, I zoned out during this match. Nothing is important about this match, the Good Hands are job guys, and the fact that Skyler eats the Caught in Crosshairs and KIA for the pinfall…no one is surprised. This was such a filler match, I enjoyed doom scrolling more than whatever happened.

Dani Luna w/Jody Threat vs ASH by Elegance w/Personal Concierge & Heather by Elegance

This has been a very wrestling light episode, not sure if its because of the injuries from tapings, but this ain’t a great start for building momentum into 2025.

Slow start with ASH trying to lock a few moves but Dani just shrugging her off. Dani is thiccer than a King Sized Snickers, and I love watching her bully people. She throws ASH around, Heather tries to interfere and grab ASH’s hands to pull her out, but Dani pulls them both in. ASH slips away, Dani chases, Concierge gets in the way and gives ASH the chance to Drop Toe Hold Dani into the steps. A little bit of a back and forth, Dani tries the Luna Landing, ASH gets away, Dani connects with a Shotgun Kick. Dani goes to the corner after, ASH tries something but gets Blue Thunder Bombed to hell. Dani then decides Snap German Suplexes are on the menu, then goes for the Outside In from the Apron German Suplex but Heather hits Dani with a broom while the Concierge distracts the ref, ASH hits the Rarefied Air and ASH WINS!

At least this match did what it needed to. It sets the stage for the Elegance Clique to challenge Spitfire for those inane belts. But even if I think the belts are useless, they need to build a story for them…I suppose.

Lei Ying Lee vs Maggie Moore

Well at least they’re giving Lei another job match, so hopefully they can build her momentum as opposed to the useless inclusion of her in the Gauntlet. Lei blocks Moore’s Hip Toss and turns it into an Twisting Overdrive Headscissor Driver. Even if it wasn’t supposed to be a driver, is was great looking. Sole Butt into a Double Jump Crossbody, then connects with Thunderstruck for the win.

Savanna Evans marches down the ramp, Big Boot to Lei and hits her with the Full Nelson Bomb. So Lei Ying Lee gets her introductory feud. Could be a fun combination since Savanna is pretty solid. Only real problem here is this match looked lame and when the Flipping Headscissor Driver was more impressive than her expected finish, the optics are weird at best.

Joe Hendry & Nic Nemeth vs Eddie Edwards & JDC w/Alisha Edwards

Oh Kaz comes out in his normal gimmick, no longer South African Hendry. He’s coming to the announce table and honestly, Kaz, Hannifan an Rehwoldt are a fun 3 man booth in doses.

Dango dorkball starts with Hendry, he does the Stalling Vertical suplex with ease, toys with JDC, tags in Nemeth for a quick tandem move and then Nemeth just goes for close to the corner deliberate arm offense. Lots of close clinch offense, Abdominal Stretches, Arm Wringers, basic Suplexes, quick tags between Nemeth and Hendry. The “main event duo with tension” is working like a  well oiled machine. We come back from Picture in Picture to Dolph hitting a Rude Awakening, into the 10 Count Shot to the Heart Elbows.

Nemeth looks to tune up the band and our beautiful orator Lish picks an ankle. This allows JDC a cheapshot and a quick double team from JDC and Eddie before JDC tags out and Eddie works over Nemeth. Nemeth sells the NOAH Chop in the corner like he got hit with a Frying Pan. Eddie tags in JDC, tandem attack of the Fulcrum and Slingshot Elbow double team, so JDC is keeping the offense in. JDC goes for the Harlem Hangover, and MISSES! Slow build tag spot, simultaneous tags and Hendry is in! Sack of Shits for everyone! Kip Up, Pops the crowd and looks for the Standing Ovation but gets cut off. System try a double team but Hendry does the ole counter Double Clothesline.

Hendry tags in Nemeth, Fame ASSer but JDC breaks it up. Hendry shoves JDC out, turns around and sees Eddie, tries to Lariat Eddie but Eddie ducks and he takes out Nic. Boston Knee Party, SYSTEM WINS!

Overall Score: 6/10

Well given the troubles they had at the previous taping and the fact that most people who watch will be aware, I think it warrants a touch of leniency. Yes plenty of the matches did absolutely nothing or weren’t worth the time watching. But a lot of the threads that god sown this week were setting up for the future. Dissension with Nemeth and Hendry, the next Knockout Tag contenders, Lei Ying Lee’s first feud, Santana gunning for the title, Kaz being an unabashed douche and completely knocking it out of the park, and Moose going for the X Division Title next week. Moose cashing in Option C, while Kaz has the Gauntlet Trophy feels like the perfect shenanigans we could look forward too. Just imagine if they do Feast or Fired for Thanksgiving…5 man…King of the Mountain match at Hard to Kill, maybe? MAAAYBE?
