She’s listening to them argue about who is next in line, and she can’t help but think, “based on what?!” Lola lost at the Bash, wah wah! And Kali, Lani doesn’t hate how you’re moving, but you attacked Kendal from behind cuz you can’t earn the way to face her face to face. And somehow, they both think they’re entitled to a title match? Lani doesn’t think so.

Lani did what she’s supposed to and earned opportunities. She beat Tatum Paxley and proved why she’s The Standout,. But like always, no one’s talking about her! Everyone is more concerned about poor little Tatum. And then we have these two, thinking they’re gonna have the match Lani’s been deserving for three years?! WHAT?! She feels like a broken record, cuz she is! The conversation about who is next in line for the championship revolves around LANI! Lola says she’s sick and tired of this, but then Lani shoves her! Lola hits back and the fans cheer the brawl! But then Kali CLOBBERS them both!

Kali gets moving, and hits a DOUBLE KALI CONNECTION! Robert Stone said actions speak louder than words, and Kali just silenced Lola and Lani. Will nothing stop the Difference Maker from making that difference here in NXT?

Will Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes have to worry about facing Lucien Price & Bronco Nima? DarkState? BirthRight? Or perhaps the newest team on the block in #SuperSean & The Muscles from Brussels?

NXT returns as indeed, the new team on the block makes their entrance, joining DarkState and OTM in the ring. That leaves BirthRight to enter last, but certainly not least with how Lexis King, Charlie Dempsey & Arianna Grace are all backing them up. The teams sort out, and in this Fatal 4 Way, each team has one man in at a time. Therefore, Nima, Osiris, Uriah and Legacy all step up. The bell rings, the four watch each other, but then Uriah and Legacy go after the bigger men. Nima and Osiris whip them away, then they scoop and SLAM them! Nima and Osiris stare down now as the fans rally up.

Man, I am so down bad, I got myself trapped in a Sharpshooter, and I did the one thing in my career I have never experienced: I quit. Backstage interview with Saquon Shugars.

Emily Agard brings up they saw “The Sugar Man” back again for the first time since DarkState brutally beating him down after he beat Dion Lennox at Great American Bash. But it feels like Saquon didn’t go after them like he intended, and why is that? Saquon says those boys pulled a ruse on him. Cutty & Osiris hobbled down the ramp and licking their wounds while Saquon was beating up Dion. Then they go after him after he gets the W? Guess they did learn something from him. But he doesn’t wanna rush it, he’s playing smart. This is chess but them boys are playing Hungry Hippos. All he had to do was pull up and he had them shaking in their spandex, and they lost their tag title opportunity.

Saquon understands, though, they’re back at full strength, it’s 3v1, he can’t pick them off like he did before. But understand one thing: This whole DarkState situation ain’t over. He’ll just have to find friends or something, this job’s getting difficult. And he ain’t dumb. DarkState spent a whole year making enemies in the locker room, ain’t nobody back there wants to look at him twice. He’ll have to shake hands, kiss babies, show the world that he’s changed, and hope they believe him. But no matter what, DarkState’s gonna learn one thing: Saquon is up next, they’re up never, and it don’t get any sweeter than that.

The One Man Demolition Crew lost to EK Prosper, ruined the fun at the Great American Bash Tailgate, got Hank Walker hurt, and then still lost to EK Prosper in the rematch. Granted, that last part was because Tank would not let Keanu go unpunished! Will Tank make sure Keanu keeps on losing? Or will Keanu carve up this Big Belly Boy and get back on track?

The bell rings and the two run up, but Keanu RAMS Tank into the corner! Keanu fires forearms, then runs up, but into a BOOT! Tank runs up to kick low, then he fires hands. Tank whips Keanu to a corner, SPLASHES, then ELBOWS again and again! Keanu shoves Tank, BOOTS him down, then snarls as he storms back up. Keanu scoops, but Tank slips free and SHOVES Keanu into buckles! Tank goes up, up, and FLYING SHOULDER TACKLES! The fans fire up with Tank, then he dodges a lariat! Tank HEADBUTTS, then he LARIATS Keanu up and out! Tank keeps moving, and he DIVES! Down goes Keanu and the fans fire up again!

Tank is feeling it, and he gets Keanu back in the ring. Tank runs up again, but into a POUNCE! Keanu snarls again as he watches Tank go to ropes. Keanu CHOKES Tank, CLUBS away, but the ref counts. A little bit out there, too, not really a fan of his style. But Tony’s still healing up, too, so if Naraku wants to get crazy, Tate is down. He’ll take him on next week. Showtime says good luck with that, “Wild Man.” Naraku’s gonna slice ‘n’ dice Tate up. Oh, he thinks so? Kam knows so. Showtime, meanwhile, would duck ‘n’ dodge everything Naraku threw at him. NXT returns as Layla makes her entrance, showing she can certainly groove better than most. The bell rings and the fans rally up. Izzi RAMS Thea into a corner, Layla kicks Lizzy, then Layla runs up. Izzi sends her into Thea, but then Lizzy jumps on Izzi! Izzi RAMS Lizzy into the others, then whips Layla corner to corner. Izzi RAMS Layla, then goes back to Thea to RAM her, too! But Lizzy gets Izzi with a RUNNING FACEBUSTER! Thea adds a DROPKICK! Layla adds a LEG LARIAT! Layla kicks, Thea blocks, and sends it at Lizzy! Layla ROCKS Thea, headlocks, but Thea powers up and out. Now, when I came through those doors to NXT three years ago, as a former Olympian, well, I believed I was the baddest man in any room that I walked in. I believed that. But this place humbled me. And I had not reached the heights that I wanted to reach yet.

“But Myles having all this success, yeah, that made me jealous. I saw Myles climbing. And I saw me being forgotten. Which is my biggest fear. And I let that fear blind me. So that being said, I’ve come out here tonight to apologize to Myles, man to man.” The fans cheer that, but Vanity Project steps out instead! And Jackson Drake says, “Wait, wait, wait. How about we start by apologizing to the guy you screwed over a few weeks ago?” Brad Baylor says facts! And Robert Stone should apologize to Dorian Van Dux & Sean Legacy for letting those boys think they have a shot at these NXT Tag Team Championships! He’s just setting them up for failure!

Ricky Smokes agrees, because two wins in and those guys think they stand a chance against The Vanity Project? C’mon! But hey, just another title defense to put on the résumé, and that list is getting longer. Vanity Project all goes to the ring now and Drake tells Tavion that Myles lowkey genuinely handed Tavion a shot on a silver platter, and he still fumbled! There’s no coming back from that. Maybe Tavion will have a little bit of trouble getting back to the top, considering his biggest and most legit victory was a total fluke.

The fans boo but Drake says while we’re on the subject, everyone and their mom knows Tavion wouldn’t have beaten Drake if not for Myles. If it was Drake in that title match, he sure as hell would not have pulled a “Tavion Heights.” Tavion asks why we talking hypotheticals then?! If Drake wants a rematch, let’s do that whenever he wants! But the results will be the same, and Tavion will show him why he’s the most dangerous man walking, the Peak Performer, a weapon in human form! Drake mocks Tavion talking, but then Tavion DECKS him! Swipe Right goes after Tavion for that, then Drake joins in! The fans boo the 3v1, but HERE COMES MYLES!

Myles fires off on Brad, on Smokes, then he catches Drake to an OVERHEAD BELLY2BELLY! The fans fire up, and Tavion says give Drake to him! Myles feeds Drake to Tavion for an OVERHEAD BELLY2BELLY that sends Drake out onto Swipe Right! The fans fire up as Myles & Heights stand tall together again! They hug it out, even! But will they be able to bring The Vanity Project down to earth? Or will those egos continue to grow until there’s no room left for anything else?

Romeo Moreno & Noam Dar talk backstage.

El Freestyle says “esta loco,” but anyways, they have one match against one of the best NXT tag teams ever, and- The Supernova wants Romeo to tranquilo, it was good but- And then Legacy & DVD step in. They’re pumped up from their win, Romeo & Dar congratulate them, and Legacy thanks them. Romeo says they got him pumped, too! But hey, see? These two just started teaming together, and now they’re one win away from becoming NXT Tag Team Champions! That could be Romeo & Dar! Dar points out Legacy & Dorian have known each other for years. Dar & Romeo are truly new to this. They need to get to know each other so well that they always know what’s on the other person’s mind.

Right, right, right! Romeo tries to guess, but Dar says no, he’s not thinking about potatoes or watching TV. Boys, please help. Legacy says Dar is right, it takes time to build chemistry. DVD says Dar & Romeo will get there. And they could even defend the tag titles against you guys! Legacy says let’s not get ahead of ourselves, they gotta beat Vanity Project first. Sean Legacy & Dorian Van Dux, NEW NXT Tag Team Champions! DVD can see it, and he puts his name first. Legacy says he sees what DVD is doing, but DVD says no, his English just needs work. Legacy says don’t play that card on him, he’s already fluent.

Dar says they also have a lot to work on. How does Romeo like his potatoes, by the way? Teamwork makes the dream work, but then who makes their dreams a reality in the NXT Tag Division?

Shiloh Hill VS Niko Vance w/ Izzi Dame!

Mr. NXT avenged himself against Tristan Angels at the Great American Bash, but he finds himself moving on from one kind of bully to another. NXT returns as The Culling makes their entrance. The bell rings and Niko runs up, but into a scoop and SLAM! Cover, TWO! Shiloh whips Niko to a corner, runs up, but Niko BOOTS him away. Niko fires forearms, then UPPERCUTS! And BLINDSIDE LARIATS! The fans boo but Niko aims from a corner. Niko goes up, and DIVING HEADBUTT FLOPS as Shiloh moves1 the fans fire up as Shiloh climbs up, and he FLYING LARIATS! Direct hit and Shiloh covers, TWO! Niko survives but Shiloh RAMS Niko into the corner! Shiloh fires body shots, then reels Niko into a fireman’s carry. Niko fights with elbows, then SMACKS Shiloh off buckles!

Shiloh staggers, Niko stalks him, and Niko goes for another buckle bump, only for Shiloh to block! Shiloh ELBOWS Niko, SMACKS Niko off buckles, then storms up. Niko clinches Shiloh to HEADBUTT! Shiloh staggers, Niko spins, but Shiloh LARIATS first! The fans fire up while Shiloh crawls to the cover, TWO! Niko stays in this, and he snarls. Shiloh and Niko stand, Shiloh dodges, but Niko drops under! Shiloh FLYING SHOULDER TACKLES! Down goes Niko and Shiloh climbs up! But Niko hits the ropes! Shiloh lands on his hill and falls to the mat! Niko stomps a mudhole into Shiloh, then drags him for an ELBOW DROP! And another!

The fans rally for Shiloh but Niko gut wrenches for the SLAM! Niko aims from a corner, goes back up, and DIVING HEADBUTTS! Direct hit this time, then he covers, TWO!! Shiloh survives! Niko is furious with the ref but the fans rally for Shiloh. Niko suplexes for the X-PLEX! Cover, TWO! Shiloh is tougher than that, but Niko seethes. Niko drags Shiloh up, reels him in, but Shiloh wrenches free and DDTS! Both men are down, and Shiloh sees his false tooth is out. Shiloh crawls to it, but Niko gut wrenches for a deadlift and- NO, Shiloh slips free! Shiloh dodges, then BACKDROPS! The fans fire up while both men are down!

Shiloh rises, he blocks a shot and ROCKS Niko! And ROCKS him again and again and again! Shiloh whips, Niko reverses, but Shiloh CLOBBERS him! And BOOTS him! And POP-UP HAYMAKERS! Shiloh roars, the fans fire up, and Shiloh IMPLODER SENTONS! Cover, TWO! Niko survives, but TRISTAN ANGELS snatches the tooth! The fans boo as Mr. England taunts Shiloh with it, and Niko SAIDOS Shiloh! Then Niko runs up, X MARKS THE SPOT! Cover, Niko wins!

NXT Women’s Championship: Kendal Grey w/ Wren Sinclair VS Natalya w/ Karmen Petrovic & Nikkita Lyons!

Speaking of the title, we need to see who even will be champion to face the winner of that Triple Threat! The Ice Woman made history by becoming the first woman to hold the Evolve Women’s Championship and NXT Women’s Championship in her career, but she’s going up against a woman who’s made history her entire career. Will Kendal lose it all to the Lowkey Legend? Or can she find a way to sink The BOAT?

NXT returns as Kendal makes her entrance, the WWE Women’s Speed Champion, Wren Sinclair, by her side. The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who is truly championship material!

The bell rings and the two run up! Nattie headlocks, hits the takeover, but Kendal rolls it to a cover, ONE! Nattie runs up to headlock for the takeover, but Kendal headscissors. Nattie slips free, floats to a facelock, but Kendal hits a takedown of her own. Kendal waistlocks, Nattie spins through to headlock for another takeover, and the fans cheer this technical exchange. Wren coaches Kendal, she headscissors, but Ntatie kips free. The two back off and the fans cheer. They reset, circle, and Nattie offers a handshake? Kendal is wary, but she accepts, and it is a clean shake. The fans rally for “Women’s Wrestling!” as the two reset.

Nattie and Kendal feel things out, Kendal waistlocks, but Nattie switches. Nattie rolls Kendal and has the leg, but Kendal kicks free! Kendal facelocks, Nattie spins through to waistlock and SLAM! The fans are torn but Nattie waits on Kendal. Kendal sits up, Nattie slaps her, but Kendal SLAPS back! Kendal TACKLES Nattie, has the waistlock, and she rolls Nattie into a cradle, TWO! Kendal waistlocks to SLAM Nattie back down! Kendal holds on, Nattie fights up, and Nattie ELBOWS free! Kendal pie faces Nattie! Nattie grins, she likes the moxie. Nattie and Kendal tie up again, Kendal waistlocks, but Nattie runs around!

Nattie SLINGS Kendal to the outside, then soaks up cheers and jeers. The ref tells Lyons & Karmen to stay back as Kendal goes to the apron. Nattie storms up, but Kendal ROCKS her first! Kendal then slides under, gets running, and she redirects Nattie, but Nattie catches her for the slingshot sit-down! Nattie steps on Kendal, but Kendal grabs a foot! Kendal trips Nattie into the ANKLE LOCK! Nattie endures, reaches out, but Wren and the fans cheer Kendal on! Lyons & Karmen coach Nattie, she fights around, and she fights forward! Nattie rolls to send Kendal back out! The ref again tells Karmen & Lyons to back off as they taunt Kendal.

Kendal stands up, dares them to do something, but Nattie runs up to DECK Kendal! The fans are torn but Nattie soaks it all up. Nattie then goes aback to the ring, but Wren doesn’t like Lyons & Karmen sticking so close. Wren runs up and goes after them! The fans fire up but that just gets Wren beat up 2v1! But then LOLA VICE rushes out here, and she goes after Lyons & Karmen! The fans cheer as these four are brawling all the way to the back! Now things are truly 1v1 as NXT goes to break.

NXT returns once more as Nattie has Kendal down. Nattie soaks up the cheers and jeers, then she brings Kendal up to CLUB her on the back! Nattie clamps on a COBRA TWIST! The fans rally, Kendal endures, and Kendal pushes at Nattie. Nattie CLUBS Kendal’s ribs, but Kendal ELBOWS away on Nattie’s leg. Kendal arm-drags free, but Nattie DISCUS LARIATS! Cover, TWO! Kendal survives but Nattie argues with the ref. The fans rally up but Nattie tells them to shut up. Kendal ROCKS Nattie, but Nattie ROCKS Kendal! Nattie fires off hands, but Kendal fires them back! They go to a corner, and Kendal fires body shots!

The fans cheer but the ref counts, so Kendal backs off. Kendal runs back up, but Nattie puts her on the apron! Kendal ROUNDHOUSES, then she climbs up! MISSILE DROPKICK! Nattie tumbles away and the fans fire up, because the straps come down! Kendal runs up, clinches, and EXPLODERS! Then another EXPLODER! Nattie goes to a corner, Kendal runs up, but Nattie throws her back. Kendal kicks, Nattie blocks, and Nattie spins Kendal into a SLEEPER! Kendal fights it, so Nattie uses that to ripcord and S T O! Cover, TWO! Kendal survives but Nattie gets right in her face! Nattie slaps Kendal around, then steps through on the legs!

The fans rally as Kendal fights the turnover, then reels Nattie into a cradle! TWO, and Nattie trips Kendal again! But then Nattie jackknifes, only for Kendal to roll through! Nattie wrenches but Kendal hooks a leg! They roll, and Kendal has the ANKLE LOCK! Nattie YANKS Kendal down with her legs, then BOOTS her down! The fans boo but Nattie storms up on Kendal. Nattie clamps on a SLEEPER and she leans on the hold! The fans rally for Kendal as she fights back up, rolls, but Nattie has the body scissors! Kendal is stuck but she still reaches out. The fans rally harder and harder, Kendal pries the scissors open to roll back, only for Nattie to roll with her!

Nattie still has the SLEEPER, and now she’s a backpack! Then she shifts to an ARMBAR! Kendal clasps hands, moves around, and she high stacks Nattie! TWO as Nattie lets go, but then Kendal slips around, ARMBAR TAKEDOWN! The fans fire up as now Nattie has to clasp hands! Kendal kicks at the arms, pulls on the grip, but Nattie stacks Kendal! TWO as Kendal lets go! Kendal dodges a discus, and SHADOW ELBOWS! Nattie is down, Kendal goes up! Kendal leaps for a MISSILE- NO, Nattie catches her! Nattie steps through, turns Kendal over, and has the SHARPSHOOTER!! Kendal endures, claws at the mat, and she fights forward!

The fans rally as hard as they can, but Nattie drags Kendal back to center! Kendal still endures, still fights, still reaches out, and still makes the ROPEBREAK! The fans cheer while Nattie lets go in frustration. Nattie drags Kendal, but Kendal spins to a victory roll, TWO! Nattie has it, TWO! Kendal has it back, TWO!! Both women stand, SHADES OF GREY!! Cover, KENDAL WINS!

It was outta nowhere, but Kendal snatches victory from the jaws of defeat! The first defense is in the books, but who will Kendal meet for the second defense? Lola, Lani, and Kali all stare Kendal down from around ringside, but she’s ready for them all! As for Nattie, Jaida Parker storms out on stage! She stares down with Nattie, but Lyons & Karmen hurry back out here! Jaida DECKS Lyons, then DECKS Karmen! Miss Parker tells Nattie that they aren’t done. Nattie says bet, b*tch! What will it take for these two to settle the score?

My Thoughts:

A great NXT to not only keep things going from Great American Bash but to also head for Heatwave. Very good opening promo from Kali, Lola, and Lani, but Lani’s complaining really is getting a bit tired. The Triple Threat next week will be great, but I feel like that should be Lani’s to win so she can finally have her title match. Then, win or lose, Lani won’t be able to complain about never getting a fair shot. We got really good stuff from Nattie and her new faction, though they need to get it a proper name as soon as they can. Great Fatal 4 Way, and what a surprise that Layla won. For a moment I thought it would be Lizzy so she and Zaria could run it back, but Layla winning can help the Team Nattie story along as there is clearly some dysfunction that should be explored.

Great main event from Kendal VS Nattie, and a great win for Kendal. Nattie and Jaida are clearly going to run it back, too, and Jaida got to look really strong just embarrassing Lyons & Karmen like that. Kendal VS Lani (or whoever it’ll be) will make for a great match at Heatwave, and could go either way. To be fair, there have been many superstars, male and female, that went on from NXT to main roster never getting the top title and still having great careers, Lani could be among them. Very good match from Shiloh VS Niko, but I did not think Tristan would insist on keeping the feud going when Shiloh already showed him his scarier side. But Spears coming back like that was great stuff, can’t wait to see what he does to get further revenge on The Culling.

Very good promo from Naraku to show he has more planned for Tony D. Heatwave would be a fitting place for the rematch given Naraku keeps making this about the fire, and maybe that’s where Naraku wins the title, sending Tony off to main roster soon after. Very good promo from Kam, Tate, and Rook. Naraku will surely beat Tate, though maybe they make it because Tate takes another risk he doesn’t have to and it backfires. Kam playing up this wavering recovery percentage is clever, and I think we get a match from him and Rook by Heatwave week, aka the go-home episode. I would think Rook wins to humble Kam, then Rook gets his title shot off of Naraku as NXT moves into Autumn.

Good promo from “Reina Volcan,” Nikki Blackheart’s new persona. She might strike again as soon as a title match finishes so she can go after the champion. Very good promo from Tavion, and from Vanity Project as they interrupt him. Naturally, it turned into a brawl, but good save from Myles. But it does feel like Drake will get his shot at the North American title from this, and we’ll just have to see how Tavion plays into it. Very good match from Tank VS Keanu, especially for Tank as he’s been a tag guy for a long time already. But I figured Keanu would win, he’s gotta stay afloat while he waits on his own title opportunities.

Awesome Fatal 4 Way Tag, it’s always better when they go with this rule set, not the “only two teams at once” kind. I didn’t think Legacy & DVD would win out, but it started becoming clear after OTM and BirthRight cancelled out. Good promo from Legacy & DVD with Noam & Romeo, but who knows how the tag title match goes. It really depends on what plans they have for Vanity Project, but maybe they cheat their way out of losing, as all Heels try to do. And with the story they’re giving Noam & Romeo, maybe they’re already on the “hero’s journey” to the top where they’ll build momentum week after week and have their moment at Stand & Deliver.
