Big Damo w/Joseph Samael vs Oddyssey
Damo looks like he’s ready to jump the man who used to have a last name of Jones. OH MY GOD THE EDITING TEAM IS USELESS! Commentary just said that Contra Unit has two people alive in the Opera Cup, Damo and Ikuro Kwon, when we saw Ikuro Kwon get backfisted to sleep last week. This production team is actually worthless. They cobble together shows and don’t watch them back for continuity. Seriously, I don’t know who produces and edits MLW right now, but fire them and no one ever hire them. This is embarrassing and amateur. THIS is another reason why you can’t pocket footage for 3-4 months and try to just Frankenstein shows together. Between the Aries interviews being out of order and then repeated, Labron Kozone pulling double duty in one episode without it being mentioned and now this. This is so pathetic it makes NWA Powerrr look like Broadway.
I’ll be honest, commentary just took me out of this match right at the lock up. Big Hoss Shoulder Tackles spot. Damo gets a Headbutt and a Thrust Kick, but Oddyssey trucks Damo through the ropes. Joseph Samael distracts Oddyssey, Damo rounds the corner, sets up and hits The Divide. Damo chokes Oddyssey on the ropes, then grabs the referee and Samael joins in. Damo is now in full control. Slow Hoss Big Man Slappin Meat spots, Oddyssey finally slows down Damo, a slow and awkward Lariat, bad Mongolian Chop thing and just slow and “tired” strikes. Damo does manage a One Handed Spinebuster to stop Oddyssey’s momentum, Elbow Drop, but only a two count.
Fun Splash from Oddyssey, Running Splash from Oddyssey but Samael puts Damo’s foot on the ropes. Big O walks Samael up the ramp and towards the Opera Cup, Damo distracts the referee and Brick Savage attacks Oddyssey. Oddyssey tries to get back to the ring and Samael trips Oddyssey so get gets Counted Out.
Commentary and continuity issues in the show took me out of the match, but honestly the match was plodding, uninteresting and Damo wasn’t going to lose to Odyssey Jones.
They reinforce the ring for someone called “The Big 400” when Damo and Oddyssey are both over 300. So this makes no sense to reinforce for one guy. This show logic doesn’t exist.
Jumbo vs Breaux Keller & Joey Martinez
This is the thing that MLW loves in a one hour show, a useless Squash match with no bodies. Jumbo looks like some Baby Hughie ass potato basket. I hate this guy, I hate how poorly the show is cobbled together and I hate these moronic Squash matches.
Templario vs Soberano Jr vs Ikuro Kwon w/Okumura
You know at least we have the two best luchadors that MLW has showcased yet. And yes, that includes Mistico.
Ikuro Kwon kicks Soberano, Kwon ducks Templario, Headscissors on Soberano, Kwon powders and ties up Soberano, Templario charges, but Soberano catches him with a Gamengiri. After a few moments between Templario and Soberano, Kwon picks the ankle, pulls out Soberano and beats on him. Then goes in for Templario and starts working over Templario after a few Hapkido moves. Templario gets worked over in the corner but Soberano flies in on Kwon. Templario tries a Headscissors but Soberano stops it, Styles Clashes Templario onto Kwon.
More fast paced spots, Kwon with his Slingblade Neckbreaker before the commercial. Back from commercial, Kwon has Soberano in a Dragon Sleeper but Templario breaks it up with a Thrust Kick. Templario beats a dude with another dude and Dives on Soberano. Kwon dodges and thinks he’s safe but Templario Dives into Okumura and Kwon.
Quick strikes from Kwon, Rebound German Suplex but Soberano is in to break the pin. Strikes everywhere until Soberano and Templario both decide to Superkick Kwon and take an everybody down moment. Kwon dumps Soberano out, Go To Sleep from Templario. Okumura grabs Templario, Soberano has the win after hitting a Draping Moonsault, but a very stupid looking Okumura touching the referee’s foot gave Templario the open to hit Debario for the win!
Okumura is useless. The match was fine aside from his entire involvement. Dude can’t move, get rid of him. Also the overdubbed Dombrowski audio is too obvious, and he mentioned two people left in the Opera Cup AGAIN. I’m not blaming Dombrowski, I’m blaming the editing team for not knowing how to listen to they story that commentary is telling and they put the shows together like garbage.

MLW World Heavyweight Championship: KIller Kross (c) w/Scarlett Bordeaux vs Donovan Dijak
Dijak is posturing and delaying tying up as Kross just lets the crowd chat at Dijak. Finally they tie up, Kross takes the Wristlock instantly put Dijak grabs the ropes for a break. Dijak gets tied up early but retreats to the ropes often until he can finally take advantage of Kross turning his back and gouging the eyes, laying in a few punches and then Lariating Kross to the outside. This match is insanely slow to start with. Dijak throws Kross into the guardrail, then Dijak gets in Scarlett’s face and she hits him, but the referee doesn’t throw her out, instead Kross uses it to send Dijak into the front row. Then Dijak throws a drink in Kross’ face and works him over and back into the ring. Dijak goozles Kross, but Kross grins and slaps the shit out Dijak into a Northern Lights Suplex then looks for the Doomsday Saito. Dijak fights out of it and hits a South of Heaven Chokeslam for two!
Dijak wants Feat Your Eyes but Kross deflects it and Lariats Dijak, starts rolling, but Kross gets caught with a second Feast Your Eyes! Only a two count, Dijak goes for a Moonsault, but it misses and Dijak lands on his feet, Kross hits a Forearm into a Snap German Suplex and both slowly get to their knees. Kross hits a few Elbows, Diamond Cutter! Discus Forearm in the Corner, Doomsday Saito and Dijak is rocked. Kross Hammer is being prepped, Dijak hears it coming and ducks, so the referee gets knocked out. Dijak hits a Low Blow and Dijak is calling for Josh Bishop. Scarlett wakes up Kross, Bishop doesn’t show, Kross locks in the Kross Jacket Choke and Dijak taps out.
Dijak was not believable, and when the match starts slow between two wrestlers without real tension, it just makes me want to make a sandwich.
Oh Bishop comes out as Kross is celebrating and Bishop looks him up and down, then walks to the ring and somehow Dijak has a microphone? When the fuck…? Stupid again. Bishop is gonna send Dijak down Exit 187. Dijak calls Bishop a “Bitch Ass Pussy”. Dijak asks him “Are you a Skyscraper or are you a bitch?” Bishop flips him off, Dijak slaps him and says “What are you gonna do” so Bishop hits Dijak with a Knee, Powerbomb and then goes to grab a table. Bishop sets up a table, then Exit 187 through the wood!
Overall Score: 4.5/10
So let’s be direct, the matches were probably tolerable, except for the Squash, I’m so sick of EVERY damn week having a squash. But the editing makes this nearly impossible to watch. From the inconsistencies with what commentary is say, interviews out of order, “reinforcing the ring” for Jumbo versus two featherweight nobodies, when we just had Damo vs Oddyssey. Damo is billed at over 320 pounds and Oddyssey is billed around 400 himself. So if we didn’t reinforce the ring for two guys, NEARLY as big, try to kayfabe make Jumbo look big, while following a match with two guys as big or close to it…IS FUCKING STUPID.
Also the Dombrowski audio dub edits for Superfight are so obvious especially when he’s the one that immediately starts talking about the match with no natural segue. I will be watching Superfight with a measure of sadistic intrigue because if it’s the same production team, I want to see how poorly they perform live. The only thing that mattered for this episode was Josh Bishop finally laying out Dijak and getting out from under his thumb.
