WWE News: Jerry Lawler Provides Scary Medical Update

Published

on

If you remember, previously we reported on a major health scare for WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. ‘The King’ had revealed that a couple of weeks prior to calling the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, he had suffered a minor stroke (which you can read here). Lawler would provide further details later on in episodes of his Dinner With The King podcast (which can be found here) and it appeared as if the former AWA Champion had gotten away damage free. However, that no longer appears to be the case…sort of.

In the post-Greatest Royal Rumble edition of Dinner With The King, Lawler would state that he went in for a follow-up with his doctor that revealed he had suffered brain damage:

“I had my first follow up with a neurologist, Dr. Weaver here in Memphis that came to see me while I was in Intensive Care and everything with my stroke. I had to get a cat scan today; but, the cool thing is he showed me a picture, brought me back and showed me a picture of my brain and this was not something I wanted to hear. He said, ‘Let me show you your brain & your brain damage.’ I said, ‘What?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, take a look.’ So anyway he shows me the scan of my brain and there was a spot on it, a dark spot, about the size of a quarter. He said, ‘When you were in the hospital that spot was solid white because it was solid blood. Now the blood has been absorbed and that is cells that have been damaged.’ I said, ‘So that amount of cells were damaged?’ He said, ‘Oh yeah, you’re just very fortunate…if that amount, that size, had been further down inside your brain, you could have lost the whole use of the whole left side of your body.’ I have no residual effects at all, I’m lucky.”

‘The King’ would also add that he was told by his doctor he should be fine and will avoid another stroke provided he continues taking his blood pressure medicine.

WWE News: The Latest On Crown Jewel, No Plans To Change Locations Yet

Published

on

To say that controversy continues to follow the relationship between the WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia might be the understatement of the year the latest bit surrounding the upcoming Crown Jewel event and the company is beyond the scope of just professional wrestling.

After the disappearance of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi and what many to believe his murder at the hands of the Saudis has led the WWE to come under fire not only from their own Universe, but United States government officials as well (read that here). Earlier today, it was noted that WWE.com was no longer showing the the link to purchase tickets and location, leading many to believe this is an indication the show will be heading someplace else or completely cancelled.

In an update to that story, both Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer and David Bixenspan of Deadspin have confirmed with the company that the show is moving forward as scheduled. Additionally, a company spokesman told Bixenspan that any removal of the link or location for Crown Jewel was done in error, stating that, “The event should be listed”.

To further proof of WWE going ahead with the show in some capacity, two World Cup Qualifiers have been announced for tomorrow night’s RAW as Drew McIntyre takes on Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose faces Dolph Ziggler.

According to PWInsider, at this time plans will not be changing “unless something drastic happens”. To further that, there has been speculation that WWE may have given itself a “soft deadline” of tomorrow to make a final decision. With World Cup matches being announced for RAW, some are taking that had drawn the conclusion that the location isn’t going to be changing. This all comes despite even more pressure from United States Senator Richard Blumenthal, who said the following to WCBS News Radio 820 on Friday:

“I would hope that WWE will recognize on its own a conscience and conviction if there is proof that Saudi officials approved and ordered this kind of killing, and I would lean first on the United States government to do its duty so that it can lead private interests like WWE, and the first place to look is to the United States of America.”

WWE Rumors: Possible Indication Crown Jewel Is Being Moved?

Published

on

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re likely caught up on the big story of the week surrounding WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2nd.

The alleged murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi officials (check the story out here) has led to a lot of fans clamoring for the show to be cancelled and another round of threats by WWE Network subscribers that they will no longer be paying customers should the event go on in its current location. Also, a number of United States Senators have called for WWE to at minimum, “rethink the relationship” (find that story here). Meanwhile, WWE’s only comments on the matter have been that they are “monitoring the situation”.

In some interesting news today, the link to purchase tickets and location have been removed from WWE.com which has led many to believe this is an indication the show will be heading someplace else or even cancelled altogether.

It should be noted there has been some talk that matches scheduled for Crown Jewel could be pushed back to Survivor Series on November 18th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Of course, Crown Jewel currently has the World Cup tournament, Triple Threat for the Universal Title featuring Brock Lesnar’s next match and the big Brothers Of Destruction vs. D-Generation X match scheduled as of today.

The Chairshot will provide further updates as they become available.
